This historic 19th-century building, located just a step away from the beautiful Plaza de la Virgen, is also home to one of the best hotels in Valencia. Located in the neighborhood of La Seu, just a few steps from Plaza de la Reina, it boasts 12 rooms and 10 apartments, each one very comfortable with its unique hallmark.

In addition to ultra-comfortable beds, here you'll find everything that a lover of this type of decoration could desire: hydraulic mosaic floors, high ceilings, painted murals, and, above all, lots of color and movement, which is something for which its designer is known. You won't be able to stop taking photos of each of its nooks and details. There's no restaurant at this hotel, but they do offer breakfast prepared with local products, such as bread from Horno Valencia and fruit from the Central Market.

Valencia is the birthplace of Modernism, and one of the best hotels in the city is located in a historic building of this style. The design is one of my favorites, evoking the Roaring 1920s with nods to Art Deco, with Divans, curvilinear wardrobes... And if you like the views from the room, wait until you go up to the rooftop. There is a pool next to a dome, where you can take a dip and sip a cocktail at Lladró Lounge Bar, overlooking the Serranos Towers. On the ground floor is the El Modernista restaurant, where they prepare Valencian recipes with a contemporary twist, such as smoked eel salad or salt-crusted red prawn from Dénia.

If you're looking for a charming and perfectly located property – very close to the impressive Marqués de Dos Aguas Palace – you can't go wrong with this place, considered one of Valencia's top picks. Located in the Seu neighborhood, they define themselves as a designer hotel, which means that attention is paid to every detail here. Each of its 34 rooms combines design and a comfortable atmosphere, and if you're traveling in a group, they even have triple rooms.

In their restaurant, your palate whisks you off to far-flung places, so definitely make a reservation there for cuisine that's exotic yet retaining its Mediterranean roots. Order the bravas, the duo of cocas, and the udon with prawns and squid. In their recommendations, they suggest being in Valencia and experiencing it like a local, so don't forget to ask for their personalized maps to get all the info.

Many years ago, the legendary Astoria Palace became one of Valencia's best and most stimulating hotels. This superb hotel was decorated by Lázaro Rosa-Violán who takes inspiration from the Mediterranean, but doesn't neglect that contemporary and cosmopolitan touch that I love to find when I go to Valencia.

The experience begins upon arrival, not only when you check in at reception, but because right here you can enjoy a cocktail at Trotamundos – the Bloody Umami Mary is excellent – with a Japanese snack or buy some flowers at El Atelier de la Flor. In the room, the best rest awaits you in the form of its outstanding beds. And up in the heights, El Mirador, a bistro-style restaurant, offers a daily menu and tapas and rice dishes on weekends. Its basement houses a branch of Salvaje, a very fun restaurant with international cuisine, music, and entertainment.

If there's a hotel in Valencia where history is palpable, this is it. It's a monument-hotel as it was once home to the Marqués de Caro. It invites you to explore its vestiges of bygone eras, from a Roman mosaic to Gothic arches, through to its greatest treasure, a part of the Arab wall of Valencia. You can almost touch it from its pool, and it's part of your walls in your room, blending contemporary design and historical elements.

Its other great treasure is its restaurant where you can literally dine surrounded by history. Alma del Temple is located in this architectural gem, and their menu focuses on Valencian products, as well as signature cuisine. In my opinion, the creamy rice with prawn and cuttlefish with aioli, and the hake with cava sauce are their standout dishes.

The same beach that inspired Sorolla is home to one of the best hotels in Valencia. And as you approach, you may find yourself wondering if it's the Parthenon, because its neogothic architecture will remind you of those fabulous temples of antiquity. It opened its doors in 1898 and was a draw for travelers seeking its spa. In fact, its strong point is its spa area, which features a hydrotherapy wellness circuit, several pools, bubble beds, hot tubs, and even a hair salon.

The rest of the hotel is wonderful, with 235 Mediterranean-style rooms. I recommend requesting one with a balcony overlooking the sea, as there's nothing quite like the feeling of sleeping and waking up there. You can dine by the outdoor pool at the Blue Pool Bar or try Valencian specialties like the arrós allipebrat – with fish and prawns – at the Brasserie Sorolla.

Here you'll stay in a former wool industry building that has become one of the leading hotels in Valencia, rising around a large central courtyard with a Mediterranean garden. Its 135 modern and Art Deco-style rooms are spacious and perfect for resting, and are located just 5 minutes from the city center. Art is another highlight, with contemporary works displayed throughout the property.

I like that they have a #FeelWell program to nourish your physical and mental well-being with their treatments. And let's not forget their cuisine: Dining at El Jardí in the shade of palm trees is a must. And even though Sea Bar is not by the sea, the influence of the sea comes in the form of cocktails. They offer a cocktail menu with marine ingredients, like "The Old Man and the Sea," which blends coffee, lemon juice, whisky, and seaweed. That's my top pick.

Valencia has been leading the way for years as a key city for design lovers. And if that sounds like you, then you'll love this boutique hotel. Located in Ruzafa, it's one of the best in Valencia. Yours embodies the minimalism championed by Dutch designers Daphne Kniest and Wouter Kock, where less really is more. There are only 12 rooms, but each one is aesthetically designed and filled with ultra-modern furniture by Valencian brands.

Another of its treasures is the courtyard with a small but beautiful pool, where I recommend you relax in the calmness of this spot in the middle of the city. Breakfast in the mornings kicks off with specialty coffee and continues with toasts or delicious açaí bowls. It also has a small boutique where you can buy products like candles with their signature scent, as well as ceramics, jewelry, or souvenirs from Valencian brands.

Luxury, history, and modernity come together at Hospes Palau de la Mar, one of the best hotels in Valencia. After crossing the Turia Gardens, you'll arrive at a nineteenth-century stately palace house, which was wisely turned into a hotel to bring us a unique place. As soon as you set foot in it, you're engulfed by the opulence of its arches and its marble staircase, a material that also extends to the bathrooms of its 66 rooms. In them, you can enjoy large beds and Egyptian cotton sheets.

In the Bodyna Spa, you'll find an oasis of peace. I recommend trying their water circuit and booking a Hawaiian massage. The hotel is home to the prestigious Ampar restaurant, where you can savor exquisite Mediterranean cuisine with dishes like red fideuá or langoustines with champagne sauce. In the late afternoon, sip on a horchata in the Garden. It's a fabulous experience.
