Excellent welcome by all. Food, room and atmosphere very friendly and relaxing. We knew the area but would not eat anywhere else after first night in the restraurant. Had to wait for the Toad in the Hole, but well worth the wait. Should be a 5 Star rated country hotel. Used to be in the tourist business in Devon. Excellent standards. Only one comment. The water pressure in the shower. Experienced this in my own holiday park in Devon. Need to have a water pump installed to equal out the pressure.
we were made very welcome right from start..all the staff were very friendly, and happy.they gave us info on places to go nearby.. nothing that we did not like..
The hotel is very nice, and also Jackie and her sister let you fill immediately like at home. This is the right place were stay after a long day of work...
Very friendly staff, good food, excellent value for money
Lovely hotel in nice location, staff were very helpful at all times, food good We were in a lovely room but there was a constant humming noise coming from behind the wall next to the bathroom (sounded like a pump of some sort!)This went on through the night which was very annoying. Also on last morning my pot of butter actually smelled of garlic! Obviously it had garlic in the night before but thought they should have checked this as it totally put me off my toast!
Comfortable room, spotlessly clean. Nice bar/restaurant room. Stair carpet was filthy - and seems to have been like that for a while. Breakfast was disappointing, in particular the attitude of the lady cooking / serving. We felt we were intruding on her day.
All staff and food where very good and very friendly we had a very nice stay
Atmosphere created by a 15th/16th Century inn - not too sophisticated, but comfortable. Menu was limited oin second night by "off" dishes.
Staff very helpful. Room was very clean and good value for price paid Outside area could have been cleaned and more could be done with the bar and outside areas to compete with the Crown accross the road !!!
Excellent hotel in fine location very enjoyable weekend. At good value.
None No reception area and bar maid not aware of booking in procedures, stayed in room 1 noise of traffic and public bar, heard every hand drier in bar toilets operate. Room 5 was occupied by resident manager so we were awake 5am each morning. The water and drainage pipes from room 5 run directly above the bed in room 1. Floor boards creeking and heard his telephone conversations. Cleanliness of bathroom poor, no replacement toilet roll so had to obtain one from the bar toilets. Had a meal in the first evening in the bar food not hot and price of beer is expensive.
Booking Breakfast too slow. I need to be away by 07.20 and having chaecked out before breakfast I waited about 30 mins. Would put me off staying again.
Very comfortable and clean room. Excellent evening meal and breakfast with good service.
Very modern, clean and tidy hotel with comfortable facilities. Security to get into rooms was excellent. None
Really lovely hotel, very modern and the rooms were gorgeous.
Very nice ambiente No outlet in bathroom
Room lovely - food fantastic - staff brilliant - service exceptional -superb breakfast. This hotel really has got it all. Loved everything. Can't wait to book again. Everything was superb - no down side
The friendliness of the staff, the location and overall level of comfort/food which made my stay extremely enjoyable.
Clean room and bathroom, nice bed, nice service
It was a special occasion so it was a little pricier than we'd normally use but you could definitely tell the difference and it was worth it - very comfortable and beautifully furnished. All staff were very pleasant and efficient. Breakfasts were top! We were prepared for the restaurant to be very expensive but it was only in the gastropub range which was a relief! Grub was lovely.
lovely food, dining room, bathroom and bedroom apart from air-conditioning making our throats dry Women would not like shower head striaght over their head, so would need a separate hose. Slippery bath, had to hold towel rail for support to get out of bath to the floor. Menu should read EACH for vegetable sides.
Not Much to like. Karoke on a Sunday night until about 1am on Monday morning. Could not park my car, could not get to my room, could not get to sleep.
The lady on reception was very good During the evenining the guy behind the bar obviously had a problem about something, we heard him swearing then he went outside and had 2 cigarettes. Later that evening the bar was very busy and the same guy said he could not serve me because there were no glasses. I stood there waiting, he then said to me why are you staring at me I have already told you I have np glasses. Another member of staff came over and served me, no problems. He spoilt was was a good stay at the Bull.
The food was terrific, great value for money, lovely location, and contrary to previous comments - there is a car park! Some staff were V.unfriendly, bathrooms dated with no shower curtain and no frosted glass/curtains over window!
Good food and excellant service.
the staff were great and great food we were quoted £39 online but at check out payed £55
Staff were really helpful and friendly- great breakfast options :) Picky yes, but I would have liked a proper shower. Couldn't get the attachment on the bath to a decent temperature.
Helpfulness of the staff in providing a heater for my room, breakfast was good Room a little chilly - particularly the ensuite
clean and comfortable room, nice pub downstairs I hit my head quite painfully. But that was my own fault ;)
Very relaxed atmosphere Noisy disco (?)
Central location in small town. Very quaint. Staff very helpful when asked for local advice on shopping and transport on to a wedding we were attending nearby -we asked about taxis and within a couple of minutes Chris came back and said taxi booked and would collect us from back door car park. Also said no problem for us to sit and have coffee while we waited.
Price, breakfast Noise
It was comfortable and warm. It was extremely noisey on a Monday evening because of a regular band practice. No one was made aware of this. It was so loud that you couldn't stay in your room because of the noise and vibration.
Nice Helpful Staff, nice clean enviroment Menu choise a bit limited,
It's location, it is on the high street and could not possibly be any closer to town even if they tried! Nothing
The old fashioned style and age of the surroundings. The Ghost waking us up.
Well, It is the first time I live in a hotel with almost 500 years history. The room is a little small...
Location Room over the High Street, too much noise!
the decor of rooms noise outside at night
There was no hot water in the shower
Worst hotel I have stayed in, please avoid. Room was filthy, bed very uncomfortable, shower fittings hanging off the wall. I do not usually write reviews, but please avoid.
Dirty , room lacked essentials, very grotty place as a whole Dirty room lacked essentials very grotty place
The friendliness of the manager and the location of hotel were excellent
Good camra pub with very friendly staff and owner. Good breakfast. Bed was most uncomfortable & lumpy !
Nice and quiet, friendly area Bathroom a bit small
The landlord was very friendly and made me most welcome. The room was not particularly clean. I did not feel it had been properly prepared; little things like the toilet roll only being about a quarter left. The shower was also barely better than a trickle
Was treated with very good maner room was nice overall very good value None
Landlord was very friendly and helpful - breakfast was amazing - delightfully offbeat but wonderful experience - would recommend to anyone who was open to something a bit different. Room was a tad small by Australian standards but not by English ones. Linen and towels were clean as was room.
