The view was spectacular. The staff was very kind and accommodating. The food was excellent. The pool was great. And the locations was also excellent. The stairs were fine but could be a problem for some. And the rooms were narrow and tight, bit a decent value considering the location.
Very clean. Bedroom and bathroom were very large. The bar, pool, and restaurant staff were very helpful. There is a great secluded beach a short hike below the hotel Lumpy bed.
The welcome cocktail was great! and spa discounts :)
The pool and the view were great. The quality of the breakfast buffet could be improved and the restaurant in general is overpriced.
The wifi was constantly failing. Prices for the spa and bar were outrageous. Broken elevators. RAYBAN POLARIZED SUNGLASSES WERE STOLEN FROM OUR ROOM!!!!!! Manager was in disbelieve, not returning calls, we spend the rest of our trip trying to get in contact/ waiting for a resolution or at least a call back and they never did!!! Now we call from The states and the "manager" won't come to the phone, very unpleasant staff stated that they are not able to give guests more information about management. Sadly our sunglasses were stolen and nothing was ever done about it. A lot of better options around the area for a lower price.
Great facility, staff, clean and nicely decorated room, fabulous restaurant, beautiful ocean/jungle view
What a delightful hotel. Pure luxury in a jungle environment. They saw to our every need including having our own valet. The staff could not be more friendly and helpful. You must eat at their restaurant, easily the best in Manuel Antonio. We highly recommend staying at Gaia.
This place was fantastic - impeccable staff. The food is unbelievably good. We had almost everything on the menu and the deserts are insane. There's a band that plays every night - they sing in Spanish and English - everything from Tangos to Top 40 - really fun. One night, there was an incredible opera singer who performed three songs in 3 languages (I think she was staying there too)! The owners walk around to every table at breakfast and dinner to introduce themselves and see if there's anything you need - very cool. It's also designed with an eco-conscious sensibility. The owners said they are a carbon-neutral business - the oxygen produced by the rainforest on their land offsets their carbon footprint, etc. Not to mention the 1-hour long walk you can take through the rainforest on the property is wonderful. All said, we had the best time here and highly recommend it to anyone who wants to be able to focus on the fun. We'll be back for sure.
Best quality of service I have ever received at a hotel - the staff went above and beyond my expectations. Nothing!
The room was very large. The staff was helpful and the pool was a plus.
Clean, spacious rooms, beautiful grounds, plentiful breakfast. Good location close to MA park and beaches! Some other hotels in the area might be closer and/or have beach views, but Plaza Yara will be hard to beat for the price and amenities!
We enjoyed our first class stay from the moment we arrived on this lovely property. The front desk person greeted us warmly and we felt like family right away. They upgraded us without even asking and our room with the beach view was immaculate, adorable and had an amazing view. The breakfasts every morning were truly delicious, I am a vegetarian, a bit on the fussier side and the breakfast was a 10 and the portions fed me for both lunch and dinner. My husband and I would stay there next time as well.
I like being in paradise!!! I had to leave :(
Staff Room Not very close from Espadilla, main Manuel Antonio beach, but has Biesanz Beach close by.
The hotel itself is truly beautiful and amazing, especially the pool. The staff was mostly nice. The breakfast, drinks, and menu offerings were all tasty, too. The tours through the hotel were great as well. Everything was reasonably priced as well considering how nice the place is. Location was a bit further than other places, but not bad. We went for our 10 year anniversary - I wanted to make sure everything was just right. I called twice to confirm the request that our room had a king bed instead of 2 queens. Unfortunately, when we got there, the hotel had already run out of king rooms (tropical). When I first heard of this, I put a sizable bill on the counter to nicely ask about getting it right and all they told me was that we would be moved the next night (Sunday) after other guests left. I was not happy. I later found out from another employee that they had plenty of suites available, but that room was never offered to us. To make matters worse that night, the entire hotel lost water and we were not able to shower after a long day in planes and San Jose. The hotel was solely responsible for us having the only bad night of our trip. The rooms were basic and clean, but having to pack our stuff and move made us VERY unhappy. Oh, and only a couple of the tropical rooms have any ocean view at all - partial at best for those. Don't expect anything special unless you get a suite (which appeared truly wonderful)!
Wildlife, hiking trails, beach, luxury
The hotel was great with an awesome views and landscape. H
Hotel staff was super nice and helpful, definitely one of the highlights of this property... Another highlight is the location: breathtaking vistas, extensive gardens, great swimming pools and even a Rain Forest trail inside the property! The decor was "too much"; I guess the owner likes vintage furniture, but the mix of Spanish Colonial, Italian Renaissance, Indian vintage, and even Asian was not very fortunate and make the place look a little bit cheesy.... Sometimes less is more!!
I forgot some things at my room at check-out. I came back 2 hours later and asked for them. They told me to wait while they got them. After 1.5 hours of waiting I just couldn´t get my things back and lost 1.5 hours of my day waiting. I kept asking what happened and they always said 2 more minutes. So I ended up spending 1.5 hours of my weekend in the lobby arguing with the employees for them to tell me we can´t give you your things back
24 hour pool, great breakfast, clean air conditioned rooms Taxi drivers hanging out front. They charge between 3000-6000 collones ($6-12) just to get you out to the main road (less than 2km / around 1 mile) depending on how much they think they can get from you. Hotel does provide a free shuttle, but it doesn't run past 5pm.
Staff Many stairs to go to the Room, The First room that we saw not smell good
The view was amazing!
The beach Room smelled like mildew, I had a view of behind the bar (sink,workers,dishes)..not a good experience at all!!!!
Hotel Verde Mar is a great property located on the beach and walking distance to Manuel Antonio National Park. The Rooms are spacious and very clean and the hotel staff were great! We saw monkeys, sloths and iguanas on site.
Chef Gabriel's food was absolutely SUPERB! ( Prob the best fried fish EVER and the best seafood pasta dish we ever had! ) Our waiter / host Alex was amazing for all three days we were there. The location was great as well. We got to see monkeys and sloths play from our balcony and had amazing views of the ocean! Breakfast was great every morning! Chef Robert was very inconsistent. The first night he was our chef, he provided us with an amazing soup and a very good ( but over priced ) pasta special. The last night, we were hoping to end our trip with an amazing meal and instead, we got a raw fish ( supposed to be fried fish ) and a pasta dish that was mediocre.
The fantastic view surrounded by the incredible natural beauty. Also the private setting at the top of the hill. Wonderful breakfast and the staff was very helpful. Only one working outlet in unit. It was in the kitchen. Would have been nice to have had outlet by bath.
