The hotel is especially convenient both to the harbor and to the airport. It is right on the water so nice views of the harbor traffic. It is clean, adequately furnished, and with an adequate restaurant for breakfasts (which are included). It is also within walking distance of some very nice French restaurants for dinner and lunch.

The site boasts that there are views of the water from either side, not true, the non-ocean view is taken up by construction, the big crane in front of our window, along with the smell was overwhelming to say the least. Was willing to pay the extra 40 EURO for oceanview, and the front desk looked over the paperwork and said nothing was available yet had highlighted ocean views available in plain English right in front of him, mentioned that and they said 'sorry nothing we can do'. Spent one night there and couldn't wait to get out. The walking distance the plaza's website speaks of is roughly 30-45 minutes away, mostly without sidewalks. I would not recommend anyone stay there until at least construction has ceased. Also the free punch is non-alcoholic, and the drinks are extremely high, 5 EURO for a small glass of gingerale. The WIFI is hard to get onto and when the will finally give you a password it shuts down at 9PM.

I've stayed in La Flamboyant before. I love the views and have always enjoyed the property. The hotel has really gone down hill, though. It's desperately in need of a cleaning and could use a new coat of paint. We tried to eat at the breakfast buffet but once we noticed that the food was infested with ants, we left. I'm sad that the owners have allowed La Flamboyant to fall apart. It has a beautiful location and the facilities were once nice.

The room was actually much larger than I had expected. The beds were comfortable, and it was nice to have a large patio with a fridge and sink. The beach on the property is not a good one for swimming, but great for laying in the sun. The employees were nice, the grounds kept clean.

The room was spectacular with a nice balcony to read and have a cocktail on. Only complaint was bed was a little soft, but I don't weigh a lot so not a big deal for me. Staff was super attentive to anything you asked for. Free Wi-fi which worked well for casual use. Breakfasts were very good and hotel is steps to the beach, the Kakao Beach bar, water sports, and a slew of restaurants in the village next door including Thai, French, and Italian cuisine. I did not want a crowded resort so this hideaway on Orient Beach was PERFECT. Arnauld, and Frank at the front desk were top notch. Beach towels every day, I locked my safe and they unlocked in minutes, printed my boarding pass...would not hesitate to go back here for a relaxing laid back stay...heaven.

We could hear our next door neighbors and upstairs neighbors. very noisy..bread,fruit cup and juice every day,For breakfast, same every day, no variety, it was included in price. beach was beautiful but,very crowded when they bussed people bused in from cruise ships. Good value. Was not expecting much considering the comparable prices in the area and was pleasantly surprised. Room was spacious and quite clean. They upgraded us when they could not get the safe to work in the first room. Not a great view from the balcony but easy access to a great beach (Orient Beach). Staff was pleasant and helpful. Basic rooms, no phones or clocks. Equipped kitchenette. Balcony/patio with every room. Bed was comfortable. Furniture was minimalistic, but served our purposes just fine. Beach is a short walk, ( 3 minutes tops), from hotel. If you don't intend on spending a lot of time in your room, ( and who does when you are feet away from a GORGEOUS beach), this room is fine. Location couldn't be better, centered in the middle of Orient beach. Lots of restaurants and shops within walking distance of hotel. The only cons were low water pressure at peak times of day, and no breakfast provided. But there is a bakery within walking distance, and you can buy your croissant there and eat it on your balcony! And if you shower in the middle of the day, the water pressure is great! Gerard, the owner, was very nice and welcoming.

This was my second stay at Esmeralda and will continue to return! The deluxe rooms are well worth the small additional fee - close to the beach, etc. Having a small market within walking distance was nice, rum and groceries readily available! L'Astrolabe, the restaurant on the property, was excellent for dinner and reasonable with regard to the euro-dollar exchange rate. The beach is, of course, over the top! Very quiet on one end and busy at the other - something for everyone. Early morning walks on the beach were a perfect start to everyday! From the friendly staff to the villa style accommodations to Orient Beach, this was yet another perfect week in St. Martin!

Great location with a very short walk to the best beach on the Island. We rented a car in advance to be able to freely travel from the French to Dutch side.....roads can be bumpy but navigable. Food quality was excellent and diverse from road side grills to fancy French. Be sure to ask in advance what the dollar to euro rate is and when in doubt use a credit card (you should get a fair exchange).

Have been going to Sint Maarten for 7 years now. Stayed at a few places, next door at Divi twice. Last year, Divi changed exchange rules.Would not let us exchange.(3-5 yr rule?) We loved that area/the employees at Divi.Knew Belair was next door. I was very tentative about how our unit at Belair was going to compare. I can now tell you-I have already booked my exchange for this year back at Belair!! The fact that all unit are RIGHT ON THE BEACH is great. Even if you don't like being in the water, you can still enjoy it. The units may not be as updated as some, but very comfortable and clean. Staff friendly. Not bothered with sales. Was so comfortable and relaxing. We were still able to walk to Divi and visit friends staying there, but all ended up back at our place at Belair after dinner or bars closed due to our unit being directly on the beach. I was startled to see posted a couple less than great reviews, so I am motivated to respond with our experience of 20 years at the Belair. We became timeshare owners after our first visit, and have found the Belair over these many years to be wonderful, friendly, responsive, unpretentious, with low staff turnover (you know that means good management). It was great when our kids were with us, and now in our retirement with friends. Probably the most knowledgable activities advisor and best beach on the island. EVERY room has a great beach view as they all have balconies onto the beach; we cook in most of the time and the kitchen works great for us. We arrive, pick a spot on the beach and our chaises are labeled w/our names for the duration of our stay...always available and shaded by umbrellas.
