Friendly staff and very convenient location. Big room.
Sink in bathroom didn’t drain. Rock hard pillows. A bit noisy from the road.
The breakfast was excellent, great choice. The beds were really comfortable. I have a bad back so this really helped (not too soft and not too hard either).
On our first night there was 3 staff asking if we were OK, but we didn't get there until 8pm - excellent service. However, the following day we had a reserved table and we waited 30 minutes before our order was taken. We ended up getting our own drinks due to the slow service (the pub wasn't that busy either). Room was spacious but could do with a mirror and light over the table as the light wasn't brilliant for the full length mirror so was very dull when using the dryer and trying to get my hair sorted etc. Had to mainly use the mirror in the bathroom. Would also benefit from a toilet brush in the bathroom
The towels were lovely. We didn’t like the look of the stale filter coffee on offer for breakfast so asked for americanos from their machine. They happily gave us them and didn’t charge any extra.
The first room we were given had a leaking shower head. When we raised it with the staff they clearly knew about it and said previous guests just put a towel underneath to dull the noise from the drip. We changed rooms. It is almost unbelievable that we were given a room with a fault when they had others available. The second room had no milk sachets for our morning tea. Breakfast was then extremely poor. We were told they had run out of porridge and they also had no yogurt because they were having trouble with the deliveries. When we asked for afternoon tea for 4 people it took a long time to arrive but they apologised because they could only find 3 teapots. We used one and then they refilled it for us to make it up to 4 teas. The staff were doing their best but the whole experience had the feel of Fawlty Towers.
The food in the evening was very good, well prepared and very good value. A special offer on wine was very welcome!
Pleasant staff. Comfortable bar and a range of food. Good parking.
