10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our stay with Dick & Jane at Widbrook Barns was a pleasure. Though we arrived a bit late, Dick received us with energy and passion for the B&B at the area. The rooms were comfortable with enough room to sit and have a drink. The beds were excellent with plenty of extra blankets. The shower water was hot, powerful and adjustable. There were plenty of electric outlets to charge all of our phones and computers. There was also a communal fridge to keep anything that we bought on the way, cold. Everything at the B&B is well thought out and executed. Walking up to the meadow and the beautiful and cared for garden, was a pleasure - even the English rain couldn’t dampen the beauty of it all. Dick and Jane, gave helpful advice to take the train, rather than the car to Bath. Breakfast was delicious and very accommodating – we asked for lettuce and he picked it fresh from the garden – amazing. We were only sorry, that we didn’t have enough time to actually explore Bradford-on-Avon, but we expect to return to this lovely B&B.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The warmth of the owner and staff. The breakfast was freshly cooked, top quality, generous to say the least and a lovely lovely relaxed and pretty setting.
Cons: A bottle or two of still water in the room would have been a godsend after attending a wedding opposite at Widbrook Grange ... always welcome and the only criticism even if we had been charged extra as we couldn’t check in before our arrival at 11:30 after the wedding as room not available until 3pm

Great Ashley Farm - Bradford-on-Avon - Building
6
9.6 Excellent (118 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Located in Bradford-on-Avon, Great Ashley Farm is in a rural location, within a 15-minute drive of Great Chalfield Manor and Royal Crescent. Free self parking is available onsite.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The location was ideal for exploring the surrounding area. The breakfast was excellent and Helen, our host was excellent and provided good advice on where to visit.
Cons: Nothing.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The B&B was in a beautiful location, on a very quiet country lane, part of a farm but in a newly built house. The room was very clean and comfortable with an enormous bed, adequate hanging space and a well situated tv. Good wi-fi reception and a small heater for those chilly nights. The bathroom was spacious and well appointed but could have done with a second hand towel ring by the sink. Breakfast was good and certainly plenty of it with tasty produce and excellent coffee. Good places to eat very close by. I would recommend The Seven Stars, The dog and Fox -and in Bradford, The Dandy Lion.
Cons: Although as I said, this place was comfortable and clean, I wouldn't rate it as luxury. The steps up to our room could have done with a good brushing; the toiletries were poor standard, just the now usual canisters on the shower wall. No tissues in the room and certainly no bathrobe. These to me make for luxury. It would have been nice to have had a lounge to sit in instead of just the room, so providing a chance to chat with other guests.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Everything. Helen is a wonderful host and once you get there its as good as it gets
Cons: The narrow roads to location
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great bed

9.6 Excellent
Pros: This is a super place. Beautiful building, lovely room, great breakfast and lovely hostess.
Cons: We were in twin room with single duvets etc - am used to feather duvet so found duvet and pillows bit heavy and cumbersome. Be perfect with light and warm duvets
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely rural location but easy access to main roads and Bath City centre. When I arrived I was greeted by 4 deer in the garden and ducks in the pond. The room I was in was large and clean with a really comfy bed. The hosts were very welcoming and Helen makes a fantastic breakfast. If you like running then there is a nice little circuit along country lanes right from the front door. I'll definitely be back.
Cons: Honestly not a lot to dislike. If I was being really picky, I'd say the shower water pressure isn't great but it's plenty good enough. I stayed for business and the commute to Bath centre at rush hour is about 45 mins. Outside of rush hour it takes 12 mins!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lorne House is one of those b&b's I would return without having to think twice. What's there not to like? Located in idyllic Box village, it's a great starting point to explore the area from Cotswold to Bath. The (family) room was beautifully decorated, very clean and spacious, and the bathroom modern and huge. The option to use the living room is a plus as it doesn't happen often that there's one for guests'. Breakfast was plentiful and absolutely delicious. And thanks to Will for being so welcoming, friendly and helpful. Lorne House is a real gem.
Cons: The downside was not staying a bit longer and not meeting the pooch.

Cons: Nothing at all.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: So many things were fab. The friendly welcome from owner and pets, the open farmland views, the clean bright accommodation, the comfortable sofa and beds, the quality supplies for our self service breakfast and hot shower. A cafetière and fresh coffee was much appreciated in the morning. The location was private and quiet and yet nearby to the towns, villages and gardens to visit, all within half an hours drive. We knew there were pets and loved having them around and the curious cows leaning over the fence. A separate car park meant there no traffic to disturb anyone. The paths and car park was well lit.
Cons: The only hiccup was not realising we could turn the radiator off in the bathroom. The owner showed us how to operate the living room radiator but forgot to mention the one in the bathroom. She apologised for this oversight. Not a big problem.

The kitchen is well stocked with all the modern equipment. There is a small comfy sofa and satellite tv./The area is quiet and doesn't smell of cow dung. Gill is an excellent hostess and cant do enough for you. So thank you Gill!
Cons: There is a lose paving slap on the way to the room and perhaps needs fixing before someone trip on it. But there is nothing not to like with the accommodation.

Pros: What can I say , beautiful room with everything and more that we needed to make our stay perfect. The breakfast that was left for us was more than generous. 10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved the decor!! Bed was comfy, friendly reception, will be back...
Cons: All fine..
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Every single member of the staff were the most polite that I think I have ever experienced. Good central location for Longleat, Bath, Stonehenge etc. Rooms cleaned daily to a high standard. Breakfast was v v good. Swimming pool was a great size however the changing rooms did not have lockers for valuables Lovely gardens to sit out in the sunshine
Cons: For the first couple of days that we stayed more breakfast staff would have been helpful as service slower due to the number of guests which unless you were rushing off somewhere was not a major problem We stayed in converted stables which were lovely however the door could do with a little bit of filling and a lick of paint as you could see light through the woodwork, not major I hasten to add but definitely required.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent staff in all areas. Dinner was pretty good and breakfast was excellent. Unusually for a hotel, the end was perfect!
Cons: Nothing
7.1 Good
Pros: Lovely friendly staff and good food. We ate in the restaurant one evening and had a great meal with some surprising flavours. The general ambience is relaxed and we loved the unusual and original decor of the place, the bar in particular. As a gin bar they have a huge selection with a knowledgeable barman but for those who don’t like gin a few other interesting cocktails would have been a nice addition.
Cons: The hotel is very nice but quite shabby at the edges. General maintenance seems to have been let go with unpainted and rotting windows and an unkempt garden. The extractor in our bathroom wasn’t working and despite reporting this and a dirty stain in the bath neither were rectified or mentioned again. For the bath some cif and a scourer would have done the job!

Cons: Nothing to dislike
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The owner and staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean with a nice country outlook and the shower very good. There was a bar menu as well as restaurant menu, my bar meal was served promptly and nicely presented.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Lovely hotel, everything was just right. The only minus point is location being a couple of miles outside Melksham, having said that the food is fantastic, so why would you want to eat anywhere else. I will definer be going back when in the area.

Cons: Nothing
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was very good, service was quick and friendly with lots of choice.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very well cooked breakfast and evening meals. Would have liked more choice of fruits, yogurts. Relaxed atmosphere.
Cons: A comfortable chair in my room would have been great.
7.1 Good
Pros: Staff were great and so was the coffee!
Cons: Single room, although immaculately clean was tired. Towels were frayed on all edges, and the duvet was lumpy and uncomfortable,-simple to rectify.
7.0 Good
Pros: The location suited me very well for the work I was doing locally. The evening meal and breakfast were very good value for money. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Prices at the bar were good.
Cons: I couldn't find a place to hang shirts and a suit. The manager told me in the morning that there was a cupboard but I had tried the door and it was jammed so I thought it was a locked link to the next room. So my clothes lay on the floor. The room was a little below my expectation but adequate for 1 night on my own. Had I had my partner with me I would have sought a change.

Pros: Breakfast was excellent, varied selection to cater for everyone. Loved the idea of the milk bottle in the bedroom, to collect and refill when necessary.
Cons: Nothing to dislike
7.1 Good
Pros: Location lovely, staff friendly. Luxury room. Nice room with good sized windows. Otherwise bed very comfy, it was clean and had everything we needed. Good sized bathroom and lovely bath with shower. Really liked the bathroom products which is rare!
Cons: My only complaint would be that the bathroom mat was hideous and a bacteria trap. Didn't even want to step on it! also the bath needs a table next to it or a shelf to put product on. Finally, there were some grubby marks on the walls in the bedroom which I assume would be easy to clean off. Check where your room is as some rooms are by the courtyard and people drink outside so if you go to bed early it might disturb you.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Spacious room, big bathroom with lovely shower. Helpful staff. Excellent food.
Cons: No lifts. Not a lot of space to hang clothes
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful building, restaurant and bedrooms
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Superb breakfast, helpful friendly staff greeted with a smile by all. Wonderful eye for detail, especially in the bathroom ie razor, toothpaste etc
Cons: Very little to complain about . Having dinner in the restaurant two nights running , perhaps a slightly different selection could have been available .But the food we selected was superbly cooked and presented .
6.7 Good
Pros: The staff were amazing very helpful nothing was too much trouble
Cons: I thought we had a bath but only a shower - the room was very small and very noisy. We were woken both Saturday and Sunday morning by people in the car park and the bins being moved.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Lovely staff, beautiful historic building in a great location in a delightful history-loaded town. Great menu for meals, especially breakfast. Would happily stay here again.
Cons: No complaints, would happily stay again
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Food was exceptional. Like, really good. I’d book if you plan eating there though. Room was comfortable and clean. Cosy, countryside decor. Wish I’d stayed longer than 1 night to be honest.
Cons: Parking was a bit tricky as the hotel is situated in a historic location. There are spaces in the area as well as in their visitor car park but it can quickly fill up.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great friendly efficient staff, spotlessly clean. Lovely evening meal that was absolutely gorgeous on both the eye's and palate. Nice courtyard seating area to relax in. Simply a lovely place.

Cons: Nothing. It was everything we wanted it to be.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Lots!!! Fantastic value for money as could bring a 3rd person at no extra cost and the dog!!! Lovely secluded location.Lovely change from staying in Bath City Centre as we usually do. My husband liked the horses. We discovered Bradford on Avon which was great! It was lovely.
Cons: It was not as near to Bath as thought it would be but it did say in summary and easy located by car. I am being fussy but..I would have liked some cleaning products provided e.g bleach for toilet, scouring pad for dishes but thats just because I didnt bring any with me and we have had them in previous self contained cottages and it was handy.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The location was peaceful. Our host Rosie was lovely and popped round on the first evening to check all was well. The property is very well equipped. The welcome hamper was a very thoughtful touch, filled with delicious goodies. The bedroom was tucked up on a mezzanine floor in the eaves and felt very snuggly. Bed linen was beautiful. All in all a fantastic property and I would certainly stay there again. Excellent location for Bath.

Pros: Sue and Jonathan are wonderful friendly and helpful hosts. Pity we couldn't stay longer. Warmly recommended.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Hostress Sue is very welcoming, friendly, helpful and warm.
Cons: Nil.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The Breakfast was very delicious. Jonathen is a very good chief. To be honest my girlfriend and I were little shocked by the first sight of the cottage. We planned a visit at Bath, and as the Google Map we thought the place is around the city not far, but when we took a taxi it was a little out of my expectation. While we stood at the front door I thought, "Damn, it is not like that." However when I walked in, it turns out that the cottage is really special, it is clean, spacious and beautiful. At first I thought it was just a room, but when I realize it is the whole cottage, it is really a surprise for me. We had some whisky and saw the sunset. The sunset glows were really beautiful. I really like this place.
Cons: Frankly the whole place is really nice, if I say something to improve the location is a little far, but not that far. Only around 15 mins from Bath City center.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Cleanliness, comfort, facilities. Excellent breakfasts, thoughtful touches everywhere... Jonathan and Sue were really friendly, thoughtful hosts. Our dachshund Peggy was right at home too. And we had a whole cottage to ourselves.
Cons: We liked everything
9.6 Excellent
Pros: A fantastic place to stay, a little outside of Bath City centre but with great bus connection not to far away or 15-20 minutes in a taxi. Jonathan was a fantasic host and a joy to talk to when, very kind and generous and a perfect host! I look forward to visting again one day.
Cons: There wasnt anything to not like!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very convenient and well appointed, very welcoming hosts and a lovely breakfast!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very wecoming hosts and delicious breakfast. Highly recommended
Cons: Nothing
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and helpful owners. Excellent facilities. Nice location. Delicious breakfast.
Cons: Nothing.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very nice and welcoming cottage with a rustic feel to it. It has a good size kitchen and dinning area, a nice lounge with a wood burning stove and two bedrooms upstairs (one single and one double). The cottage is well kept and very clean. Their cooked breakfast is amazing. Good quality ingredients, fresh fruits and very good tea and coffee.
Cons: The only thing I would like to see less of are the tens of pictures of the landlord's family found in the lounge and dinning area. It makes me feel like a stranger in the house. However, as the cottage is only occasionally used for tourists, I can live with this.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: The rooms were beautifully appointed and spotlessly clean. The owners were welcoming and friendly. There is also a characterful sitting room which guests can use. The breakfast was superb, one of the best we've had!
Cons: There was nothing we did not like. One point that would be guests should know is that the owner does not accept payment by cards, only by cash or cheque. It was not a problem but we thought it would be helpful to mention it.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Friendly welcome and help with bags to the room. Room was light and airy. Tea\Coffee in room along with a bottle of water & biscuits. View over the garden\farm and could see Westbury White Horse in the distance. Bathroom clean and a nice variety of shower products to choose from, along with hand cream by the sink. A number of books in the room along with a Samsung telly on the wall. Breakfast in the morning was amazing. There was cereal, fruit, yogurt & orange juice on the table along with a croissant at each place setting. Tea and Coffee brought out to order Cooked food made to order - you just choose what you want. I had scrambled eggs on toast with bacon - brought out with a separate round of toast as well. All tasted amazing. There are also 2 gorgeous dogs on site. Free parking & Wifi
Cons: Currently only take Cash or Cheque - I wasn't aware of this but there was a info sheet in the room that advised of this. There are cash points in Frome & Trowbridge (local larger Towns less than 10 mins away) - I knew where one was but if you are unsure a quick google search will show you where they are. Parking area was a little crowded and a bit difficult to maneuver around
7.5 Good
Pros: The owners were very accommodating, welcoming and friendly.
Cons: No shower (shower head in bath but no curtains or screen)
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very homely and welcoming.
Cons: Lovely cottage and cosy.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Nice rural location. Good breakfast. Friendly relaxed atmosphere allowing one to feel comfortable. Cosy room
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was very good Location has only one venue for food/drink within short distance
6.3 Good
Pros: Beautiful cottage and lovely breakfast. Very noisy. Couldn't open the window without the roar of the motorway invading. Not their fault. Just location. However I was shocked to discover that at £65 this was a shared room!!! Fortunately no one else was there but I think that is outrageous and totally unwarranted.
Cons: Very noisy. Couldn't open the window without the roar of the motorway invading. Not their fault. Just location. However I was shocked to discover that at £65 this was a shared room!!! Fortunately no one else was there but I think that is outrageous and totally unwarranted.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: I was greeted with a smiling welcome, a pot of tea and warm welshcakes ... what more could you ask for? The breakfast was sumptuous and nothing was too much trouble. Mary Anne really is the hostess with the mostest!
Cons: It is fairly close to the main road so there is some traffic noise.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: All was great
Cons: Nothing to dislike
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The welcome with tea and Welsh cakes was delightful. The breakfast was truly generous and beautifully cooked. The house abounds with eclectic books. People have criticised the double room for overlooking the main road nearby, but with the window shut at night time we heard only a faint occasional swish of traffic. No problem, and we never heard the rooster. The owner was very friendly and accommodating; we were sorry not to be staying longer.
Cons: A shower curtain would have been welcome to reduce splashing. The main road outside is a busy one and we found it sometimes a problem to turn off right, into the drive, (which is on a bit of a bend), without inconveniencing other road users, who were often travelling too fast. Just a reminder that some people find paying the bill in cash a problem; we didn't, and you do get asked if you would like a good printed receipt.
