Quite, Clean, Traditional Vermont Inn Experience. Service down home warm and friendly. Food is outstanding! Ben's Room is enormous with a king bed, TV, fireplace, and hottub. Bathroom was pubpar...and also don't expect traditional bath amenities (soap, etc are in a wall dispenser - very eco).
Had a lovely overnight stay here while skiing at killington. The staff was extremely kind and upgraded us to a king room when we originally booked a queen, for no extra charge! Breakfast the next morning was delicious.
Very comfortable and coZy, staff was friendly and breakfast was great.
Staff were extremely welcoming and friendly
Beautiful, classic Vermont inn in a stunning setting. Staff was friendly and helpful. Inn was super clean and lovely. Delicious and generous breakfast was the perfect start before heading out to the many nearby activities. Can't wait to go back!!
Walked through the door got a face full of spider webs. I wanted to walk out as soon as I open the door. The fridge was not even plugged in so I couldn't put our cold drinks in and keep them cold. The web site photos of the rooms did not lool anything like what we walked into.
Excellent, friendly staff (among the best I've ever experienced). Big rooms. Can't beat the price for being so close to Killington. A new favorite - will definitely stay at again. Continental breakfast could have been better (all carb products - just bagels, cereal, and english muffins). Some meat/protein (bacon, ham, eggs, sausage) would make it killer. Still a great deal as-is.
Great location, get what you pay for, no frills, just a clean bed to sleep in. Breakfast was nice. Friendly owners. Little outdated, maintenance lacking in places (like wallpaper beginning to peel), but nothing major enough to not stay again. No WIFI on one side of building, but that was being worked on.
Breakfast was great - there's a wafer maker. The staffs were very helpful.
Free breakfast and great common room with fireplace for Apres ski activities. CANT BEAT THE PRICE
If you were alive in the 1970's and miss the decor this is the place for you. 15 minutes to Killington and only a few minutes to Pico - that's really all this place has going for it. The sheets had numerous strands of hair on them (from someone's head and - other - bodily areas. Underneath the bed where the vacuum wasn't able to reach had very clearly not been cleaned for a long time.
The rooms were clean while I was stuck during the recent icy weather we had. I ended up getting two different rooms over the two day stay and both were well kept.
Comfortable beds, decent room set up, clean rooms. Worn, but clean, lobby was very cold and parking wasn't great. Fire alarm went off, TV lacks basic networks due to Dish network. Hotel set up is very odd and elevator was questionable.
Check in was easy. Check out was easy. Bathroom too small Too few towels Refrigerator not cold enough Swimming Pool and Hot Tub were murky Too few handicap parking spaces Confusing entrance from main road Had to travel down from 3rd floor to lobby for ice
Breakfast Hard bed Too much chlorine in pool and hot tub could only stay in it 15 minutes tops eyes throat burned from it and my husband broke out in a rash House keeping woke us up at 930am when check out wasn't til 11am
Good location, courteous staff, comfortable room, good complimentary breakfast.
Close to everything, Dennys next door 10% discount, just show your key. Bed comfortable, good heat. Bath rm not that clean, tub drain pluged.
Breakfast was good, and the bed was clean. Nice large tv. The halls smell a little, the wallpaper boarder in our room was peeling off, there was not alot of work put into cleaning the shower, but wasnt horrible.
The room was very over-priced; small; toilet leaked at floor seal; blanket was too small for the bed.
The staff was very helpful. Loved everything!!!!!!!!!!
Room was decent, decor was up to date and nice. The breakfast is wimpy, the coffee was terrible, the front desk didn't want to honor the online price for the room when I extended my visit, and a mouse ate my expensive chocolate.
Reasonable rate Room was booked with fridge and microwave. Did not get one so we had to change rooms. The original room as clean but the new one was dirty with trash in drawers, used soap and razor in bathroom , open waterbottle on nightstand, dirty towels in bath. Housekeeping left a lot To be desired even after they "fixed" the problem. Had to wait 3 hrs for clean towels. It was much better when Red Roof owned it
Convenient location right off the highway. Facility was being remodeled and we stayed in a newer room. Breakfast was included. Good value for the money. The remodeled rooms were in the back of the hotel. Didn't get a warm fuzzy feeling from the other characters staying there. Always removed everything from vehicle every day. Lots of cameras and signs reminding you to take your belongings. Some people drinking in back parking lot.
older place going through some updates Staff was very helpful close to end of RT4 Breakfast was included and not bad
a couple of buses of young 20 somethings arrived late friday nite and continued to party and be very loud alll night long. there was supposedly extra security on to handle them, but nothing was done!!! other members of the weddingd party we were attending checked out and got a refund!
Clean Comfortable Continental Breakfast Close to slopes Friendly Staff TV, mini fridge and microwave in room We only stayed one night, we chose this after looking at reviews because it was the cheapest hotel that seemed decent. Booked a room for my boyfriend and I, the room had 2 full beds instead of a queen. We decided to share one bed and it wasn't an issue.
The hotel looked nice & the staff was pleasant. We arrived on a Friday & booked for 2 nights. We were there to attend a nearby wedding. About 10:00 PM bus loads of teenagers arrived. There was no supervision & they were totally out of control. They were above us & next to us. The extreme noise & throwing things went on all night long. We couldn't sleep at all. The front desk was called several times for security But no one arrived. We checked out & received a refund thanks to the help of Kayak. We were able to get another room where the wedding was being held & all is good.
Traveling with my parents who have limited mobility, I requested two rooms on the ground floor as there are no elevators. My request was granted. The two rooms on the ground floor were not adjacent. According to the staff, the room adjacent to each room was a suite and not in the same price category. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Variety of breakfast items. to please a variety of needs and tastes, even soy milk.
The service was great as we were upgraded due to a suite and found it to be wonderful and will probably book there again as we are frequently in the area
It was comfortable and staff was very nice
Nice cheap place to stay for Skiing.
Stayed for New Year's Eve. Hotel room was huge with big, comfortable king size bed. Very clean room with refrigerator and nice shower. Walls were a little thin with guests making noise but it was New Year's Eve so it was to be expected. Perfect location close to everything.
Set back from the main road on, yes, a hillside. A few miles from restaurants, ski facilities and within a reasonable drive on Route 4 or 100 to Rutland, Ludlow, and Woodstock. Room had a separate sink and small frig, but no utensils or dishware. Room had unusual configuration. Bathroom area had no tub and shower was extremely small. Could not bend over. Toilet was in separate, basically, closet with no exhaust or fan. Breakfast was mini-muffins, mini-bagels, dry cereal, coffee, juice -- nothing special.
Friendliness of the staff. Continental breakfast was disgusting, cereal was stale, cream cheese for bagels was outdated from may. Nothing was fresh or appetizing.
Nothing My flight on Feb 14, 2015 was cancelled due to a heavy snowstorm in the New England region. This hotel (Hillside Inn at Killington) is the only business that refused to refund five (prepaid) days of stay. They could have made me pay for one day, but they took all the money for the entire vacation I was planning to take with my son at Killington.
Extremely close to all ski areas Cheapest price for the area Kitchen area was good, had microwave, mini fridge Parking was bad in the winter. Snow takes up so much room considering small parking lot to begin with. Paper thin walls Can't change heat, no actual heater Bring your pillows
Only stayed 1 night but it's a Great hotel. Clean, comfortable and polite staff. Our king bed was extremely comfortable.
new well kept & friendly no
Very welcoming and helpful staff. The room was excellent - clean, spacious, lots of towels etc Our room overlooked the car park of the Holiday Inn, next door. On two consecutive mornings at 6.45 and 7am the coaches/buses collecting their tour parties parked up outside with their engines running. We commented to reception at the Hampton who did say they would contact the Hampton - I think they did but on the second morning we had the same problem. I suggest you ask for a room on the other side of the hotel and you woudn't then be woken by the noise.
Hotel was clean and appropriately apportioned. Staff was awesome, friendly and accommodating. Housekeeping staff helped me get into my room (when they confirmed it was my room) when my hands were full... All around great service. Nothing was bad. They rocked.
beds are very comfortable. rooms are clean. staff was friendly room was hot
Comfortable beds and pillows! Rooms are dark and quiet at night. Friendly staff, helpful concierge!
We were wanting to visit Killington and arrived in mid-Septmber. The leaves had not changed yet but Fall was in the air and it was beautiful. The lodge was very nice with large rooms and spacious community areas. The hot tub was amazing holding over 20 guests with two fires nearby. There were not many guests so we had it to ourselves. They have a movie room and played recent releases each night at 8pm with popcorn. This must be an excellent place to stay during ski season.
The location is pretty good, close to a lot of shops and restaurants. We were supposed to have a Deluxe King room, with a king size bed - they didn't have any available. The best they could do was a room with two double beds and a balcony. The hotel is tired, paint on railing on balcony is peeling. Huge stain on the rug between the beds was not pleasant. Sunday morning waking up to the sound of a lawn mower at 5:30am was not nice. Hearing everything that went on in the hallway and the bathroom next door was not fun either.
Location and views Furnishings very scruffy. Car park rough. Reception barely polite. Bar staff poor. Overall disappointing stay.
I liked that it was close to the ski area I didn't like the fact that I had to wait over 2 hours after check in time to get a room. I don't like the fact that James, who was working the front desk when I arrived had no idea what was going on and couldn't even get a list of what rooms had been cleaned and which haven't. He just told me that he just got on duty and doesn't know how long the wait would be. Never apologized for the inconvenience. Didn't offer anything for the trouble. He then finally gave me a room key. When I went to the room there were people's stuff already in there. I had to wait another 45 minutes for a new key. Poor service. Poor quality hotel overall. The location is the only thing going for them.
The location was great. The staff was amazing. They were more than helpful and accommodating to all of our needs. They really went above and beyond even on simple requests for us. They were courteous and never once had a bad attitude no matter what time of day it was. Matthew and James were great in particular (be it checking us in at 3:30am or just making sure everything was going well as we were on our way out for the day). The hotel is also very open to suggestions and feedback to help improve the stay for everyone.
We came to check the area out reay for ski season Breakfast, when we arrived down at 8.30am there was very little left to eat and no where to sit so we left with just a coffee
The staff was incredibly accomidating. The hotel.has a bike was station and allows guests to store their bikes to their rooms for safety purposes. The beds were very comfortable, breakfast was amazing, and the hot tub and common areas were great. For mountain bike guests the experience could be improved if there was a secure bike valet, that only staff had access. Guest would drop their bikes with a staff member and have their bikes retrieved by a staff member. This would keep the rooms cleaner and ensure the safety of riders bikes. This is done in other bike destinations like whistler.
Staff was excellent
The fireplace The smell of place smelled like beer and cigarettes, place needs updating and repair
Staff was nice. Location is great. Dirty! Dead bugs everywhere. No heat. Hair all over the blankets. Zero amenities and character.
The girl at the front desk was super friendly and the little library upstairs was a great way to entertain my 4 year old. We were put in a smoking room that reeked of smoke (we weren't given a choice of smoking or non) and there were mice, one that ate half of our soap overnight and one that was hopping around the breakfast area in the morning.
Friendly staff, self-baked waffles included with breakfast. Easy to find, quiet. TV is up high facing the bed. Ideally lower and facing the table and chairs in the corner for those staying up late to watch.
Parking and location Room didn't have air conditioning
It was a little small and only had a community refrigerator but still very nice place to stay
Very homy. Staff very personable. Jacuzzi. Less than 10 minutes away from the mountain. My room REEKED of weed; fresh weed. Not that I hate weed or anything, just didn't want to experience it to that moment. I'm sure if I brought it to the staffs attention I would have gotten a different room though. Didn't want to cause any trouble.
The atmosphere was all about service and customer satisfaction. We were always greeted with kindness and concern that our needs were being met. Parking was perfect and the hotel layout was easy to navigate and was well marked. The food was excellent. It would have been nice to get a newly updated room, but our room was clean and pleasant just the same. I would have spent more time in the common room had the fire been burning more frequently.
Staff was EXTREMELY pleasant and welcoming! VERY clean room and comfortable beds. It was very dated decor, bathrooms were small
The staff were very helpful and friendly. The location was great for our needs. I felt like it was expensive for the time of year and accommodations. It was after the height of ski season and before summer rates.
I liked Steve, owner and his assistant. They were helpful at providing background information about the area, places to visit, very knowledgeable. The breakfast table and coffee were ideal. It is very close to Killington. Very quiet at night. Wifi was not the strongest but than we were not staying there to read our email or play games. There is plenty to do outside of the room and inn.
The hotel staff was amazing the owners were extremely friendly helped with any questions I had about the area and provided one of best experiences iv had on vacation
Welcoming and comfortable.
Free included breakfast Free included wifi Microwave Fridge Could use in room safe
Amazing staff went the extra mile to make sure I was satisfied.
We are vegetarians. My son was looking forward to eating warm pancakes as the sites suggest they have pancakes for breakfast. Since we are vegetarians we cannot or do not eat any other hot items on the breakfast. Apparently they alternate between pancakes and French toast for breakfast. To me and my husband, it really does not matter; we can just eat the bread toast and be happy with it. We requested the breakfast coordinator to make just 2 pancakes for my son since he could not eat French Toast (made up of eggs) but to my surprise she refused. WHICH HOTEL wants to refuse making 2 pancakes for a kid? Is that what Holiday Inn is all about?? We paid for the breakfast and my son makes sure he checks that the hotel provides pancakes in the breakfast at this hotel. No amount of comfort and cleanliness matters when the KIDS are not happy.
Clean and comfortable, good staff.Nice indoor pool and weight room. Breakfast ends kind of early on Sunday. Noisy local drunks in next room partying until 5am.
The owners are clearly in love with the area and are very enthusiastic about sharing it. Very personable. Cute, cozy room.
Beautiful hotel with incredibly friendly staff willing to talk about great places to enjoy in the local area. Really authentic feel to the hotel. Community centered as microwave and refrigerator were in the main lobby. Beautiful woodwork and ATD :) Only downfall was the bed was a bit uncomfortable and lopsided.
Friendly Staff, good location and great price. I really felt welcomed and that if I had any needs they would have been taken care of. Any dislikes I may write does not take away from the fact that this is a decent place to stay when you do not want to spend an arm and a leg for lodging. The motel had an old musty smell that I assumed came from years of moisture of guests returning from skiing. We had arrived in the summer, so I was sort of surprised at the odor. The elevator also sounds like it needs a tune up and my fiance and I decided the stairs were the best bet for our stay.
Connie at the front desk was a sweetheart. She couldn't do enough for us and was more than accommodating. The family room / game room was pretty cool and the huge open fireplace was quite nice. My friend Adam spent his day and night writing his book by it. I'd give them 10 out of 5 stars if I could
Nice, clean, staff is very friendly and accommodating. The breakfast here is something else, just simply amazing. And very close to Killington.
Hot tub and sauna. Excellent staff
nice facilities staff is not friendly
The hotel is a good deal for the price. We were up there for a 5K run and just needed a clean comfortable place to stay at a good rate and this place did just that. The best part were the managers. They were so nice and treated us like family.
The hotel was clean, the location convenient. Years ago it was beautiful. It's still adequate, but no better than a chain hotel. Very quiet, plenty of parking. Nice social spaces, although there were only 5 people in the whole hotel. Good low price on the room. All of the few amenities were closed. No pool, no hot tub. Although the web site said they offered pub food for dinner there was no dinner service. Breakfast did not start until 7:30; not useful for a business visit. Great fireplace, but wasn't lit. Outside entry doors were convenient but were very drafty. Poor heat control; could not turn it down. There appeared to be no more than one staff person there. Furniture was mismatched.
Well it is an older hotel and had that musty smell. The pool was out of order due to a ceiling beam failure over the pool. We were disappointed, the indoor pool was a major draw for us staying during mid March. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was better than I had expected. Overall a decent stay but next time we'll stay close to Woodstock where there is more to do. If staying here though go to the sugar and spice restaurant down the road for lunch! It was amazing! Smell Pool out of order. Far from Vermont (non-ski) attraction
Location was decent but that's about it. Run down appearance. Carpets threadbare in places. Pool looked murky and uninviting. Heat went off in the middle of the night.
Staff super friendly and facilities were clean hot tub and pool could use a little renovating
The price is a great price. Nice staff. Always have coffee and tea available. The bar in the basement is convient. If you have more than two people in a room you are charged an additional $20 a day per person which isn't disclosed until checkout. The hot tub looks like it needs cleaned out and the temperature needs adjusted.
Beds were comfortable, rooms were spacious and all toiletries, including toothpaste, was provided. AC does not work so room was incredibly hot all night. Although the fan works, it only blew room temperature air despite adjusting both the thermostat and unit setting to cool. Check in experience was poor; front desk was un-staffed. We called as instructed to request for assistance, but no one answered the phone- still had to wait about 15 minutes for someone to show up and check us in. Male staff member that checked us in was less than friendly.
i used KAYAK to book an inexpensive (but not TOO much so), last-minute (hours before) room on our way up to ski. at the price level above bottom-tier, i braced myself for the worst. From the moment we pulled up (easy on the eyes),we experienced the most delightful staff, and the loveliest night's sleep, albeit, briefly. the vibe is homey, and relaxed; maybe it's the holiday season getting to me, but if allowed the time, it's ideal for a romantic (cozy) getaway. We woke up late, but the free breakfast spread was generous!
The pool was amazing!
The staff was super friendly and the open area for the kids and ability to mingle was great. There were cookies in the afternoon and the breakfast was good. - we had a chimney fire which freaked us out but then the staff never said another word to us about it - we had a leak into our room from a rain storm but they moved us right away - there were several leaks in the roof where water was coming into the pool and no one did anything - pool was too cold and hot tub too hot (scalding at times) - 15 to 20 min drive to Killington K1 and other bases Would I stay again? Probably not, too many bad memories.
Room was clean and comfortable. Pool was great, hot tub was being repared. Wi Fi coverage was good, altthough speed was a little slow. TV had poor reception and not many channels (Dish TV)
2nd year in a row we've stayed here last minute and for under$100. breakfast had a wide variety that satiated most diet needs; not bad for a *free* breakfast. nothing that i can think of
