Pros. Casa del Balam is very well located in the heart of the historic district within an easy walk to the main plaza. We were there for a scientific meeting which was right across the street at the University of the Yucatan. Restaurants are all nearby and the one attached to the Casa was as good as any. We had breakfast every day (we were there a week) in the Casa's courtyard beside the fountain and serenaded by the white-winged doves. The room was on the second floor so we walked up and down and it became a haven for those really hot days you get in May in the Yucatan. The room was always clean and cool and the beds were very comfortable. The staff was most welcoming and ready to arrange a tour, give you more bottled water or answer any questions. All in all a great place to stay for a very reasonable price.
