Great location, steps away from anything worth doing in Minneapolis. Friendly, helpful staff and a cool atmosphere. Keys cafe and Manny's are both downstairs. Stayed in what they call a cool corner room, so there was a decent view.
For a place that considers itself an ultra-cool luxury hotel, it was disappointing. Pretty basic room (bed, desk, TV, etc), but burnt out lightbulbs, chipped mirror, pealing paint, our floor (10th) smelled like a deep fryer, and everything costs extra (e.g. Wi-Fi is $13/day). After paying so much for the room, I expected better.
Steeped in history, yet brought to modern standards. The shower stall was great, and the photo booth in the lobby was really great to get some shots once we got all dressed for the party. Keys Cafe is right next door for breakfast.
If Tom Haverford from Parks and Rec made a hotel, this would be it. A bit over the top in a few ways, but you love it all the same.
We greatly enjoyed the luxury and "exotic" prohibition feeling. Everything fit a unique theme throughout the hotel. The design and architecture was beautiful. Fortunately our young child travels well and isn't a screamer so we didn't have any problems settling in and giving her a bath and relaxing. We were welcomed without judgement which was very nice given our 1 year old child.
The mini bar was outrageously priced! Lucky there are plenty of shops and places down the street for food and goodies.
Broken sink, bad view, overpriced, non fitted sheet, small, everything costs extr including wifi
The location was great and surprisingly we were able to find street parking without any difficulty. Our room was small but very comfortable. We loved the shower, had a nice view and lots of sunlight pouring into our room.
The lobby area was dark and very noisy especially in the evening. More of a personal preference but we didn't like the pink lighting and overall dark ambiance of the lobby area. We got the sense that the target clientele were young millenials.
The room was comfortable & clean. The Restuarants were exceptional and the lounges were lively.
Elevators are old and slow. Half of the elevators were out of service. The card readers in the elevators were finicky but you can't get to your room until you fiddle with it. Parking is a nightmare. Attached public parking ticket machine would not give out tickets, just takes credit card and charges for the whole day and can't get in or out after 10 PM. The W does not have affiliated parking so that pretty much just leaves the expensive valet parking. Even that was challenging because the "pull-off" from the busy downtown street is exceptionally small. Over the five days, we often had to stop in the regular traffic lane and hold up traffic while handing the car off to the valet driver.
Love the W chain. Always great hotels and they truly understand what guest service is all about.
Low lighting, decor was not classy, alcohol was everywhere, felt sleezy.
the room was clean
no coffee maker in the room, basically watched a prostitution exchange go down. super shady and weird hotel. also, was promised something would be sent to the room since i was there with my best friend celebrating her birthday (their offer, not asked for) and nothing was sent. when i asked about it, was given $30 to mannys breakfast which paid for 2 bagels with cream cheese, 2 cups of coffee and a glass of orange juice. ended up with a thai massage rather than what i wanted and was in pain for an hour. will NOT stay here again.
The staff was the best. We forgot a phone in the car that was valet parked and it was brought up to our room for us. We wanted a place to play cards with friends and we were given special permission to use a VIP section. Needed a shirt steamed and they did that for us too, and best of all these extras didn't cost any extra. Everyone from the restaurant staff to the hosts were the most helpful and proffestional I've seen.
The rainforest shower was my favorite part.
I didn't like that there was no free wifi for guests. Almost every hotel I've stayed at in the last four years has free wifi for paying guests, it's a shame W can't keep up. Also, the mirror in the bathroom was absolutely filthy from the guests before us which was offputting that they didn't clean it.
The location and bar are great! The room itself as ok and we froze. We could not warm up the room even after turning heat to 90.
Great location, very nice rooms with amenities, Prohibition Bar on top floor is really cool. Very friendly staff.
Wish they had hot tub and sauna.
Very upscale and cool. Beautiful rooms. Very nice staff. Very clean
They should have the things in the room be free of charge. A water bottle for $5 ??? Nickel and dime you waaay too much
Great location, wonderful restaurant inside. Prohibition Bar is very unique
Rooms are very small for the money, Corner King was dinky, view poor, carpet dirty. Expected more for my dollar. Checked in a 4;30, my room wasn't ready until I made a big deal out of it. Check out is 11:00 and I couldn't get a room at 4:30 on a Saturday?
Nice rooms and nice location.
The bed was old and not very comfortable. Stayed at the W a half dozen times before and this bed was the worst.
It was perfect
