Pros: It was easy, the employees were really nice & the shuttle service was convienent & quick. We will definitely use them again. The price we were quoted online was the price we paid. It was great to not see an increase in the cost upon returning the car.

Cons: That the car was returned at 6:14 and I was charged for an extra hour. When at pick up the person giving us the car said return the car around 6pm. I guess I took that to mean that close to 6pm. If I was going to be charged more if it was after 6 pm then he should of said- hey car back by 6pm or we will charge you for an hourly rate.

Pros: The car was clean and did run... and that's about as far as I can go with positives.
Cons: The pick up location is NOT at the airport. They do advertise this information, but they have a booth at the airport, where you call a number and a van comes to shuttle you to the car rental spot. When we called the number, they didn't tell us this.. they said they would be there in five minutes. No mention of the van. No mention of moving locations. Maybe this was my fault, or maybe they could have mentioned something like "great! We will send a van to pick you up in the next few minutes. Please look for the white shuttle with the words "Payless" on the side!" Or maybe that's expecting too much. I'm not a customer service expert.
We all show up to the rental area and there is only one guy working the counter. So it takes longer than it needs to. He casually mentions that there's a multi hundred dollar deposit that comes with all rentals. Sure. Maybe that was in the fine print. I guess I missed it. But whatever. All was well.
We drive the car off the lot. All is good. Until the next day, when the check engine light comes on and the oil light as well. I called the number they gave me and offered me a few options. None of which accommodated the concept that I was in a wedding all weekend and i needed to use the car in a city 100 miles from the pick up location. Sure, I COULD drive all the way back and get a new car. Sure. I COULD drop the car off to get maintenance done, with the assurance you'd reimburse me. But the idea here is that i paid for a service. You did not hold up your end of the deal. And somehow I am penalized for the inconvenience.
The final conclusion was that as long as the vehicle "sounds okay" then I'm okay to drive it to my hearts content. My husband checked the oil level which was drastically low and the oil was caked entirely on the dipstick. The cars are clearly, poorly maintained, and when I am home in the future, I will never ever ever rent from them. Time with family is more valuable than saving a few bucks.
No apology. No sort of compensation. Just a bill and a "see you later" at the end of it all. Too bad.

Cons: Car had no cruise control, and it was a 2014. Cars not especially clean. Rental location is hard to find, and takes time to get to if you don't have a ride--no ubers around.

Pros: The price
Cons: There was no one at the rental counter even though it was 6.30pm. I waited a reasonable amount of time before taking the offer made by another representative.

Car was in bad mechanical condition
Cons: Car would not accelerate, ended up on the side of the road for an hour.
Interior was stained up and dirty.
They charged me an extra $200 right away on pick up "in case of damages", I was not aware they would do that.
Location was hard to find.

Cons: The process was typical. There was a lot of pressure to up-sell me on things I didn't need, even after I told the agent "no." I was told I could pick any car in the row, but there was only one car in the row and it was dirty.

Pros: When no one showed up at the Dollar rental counter, eventually a woman named Precious (and believe me she is!) at the Hertz counter helped me. Apparently Dollar is owned by Hertz, the difference being that Hertz employees belong to the union and Dollar employees do not. Precious even upgraded my rental car to help compensate for the problem.
Cons: I booked my car for pick-up at 6 a.m. and the Dollar counter was scheduled to open at 6, yet when I arrived at 6 a.m. no one was there! I could not pick up the car because there was no agent at the counter. I waited for 45 minutes and still no one. I had a meeting scheduled and a long drive ahead of me. This is unacceptable!

Not what we reserved.
Cons: We reserved a car that was supposed to hold 5 people. There were only 4 of us, but the car was a Chevy Spark. It was not large enough for 4 adults and we had no choice but to upgrade. The upgrade, along with hidden fees was almost $100 more than we were expecting. I will not rent a car through Kayak.

Lots of hidden charges
Cons: I wondered why the quote per day was so affordable until they needed a $200 "deposit"on top of the daily rate precharged to my credit card. Turns out instead of $125 it ended up being $243 with all the extra fees and 21% tax. Come on Minnesota 21%???

Pros: Pickup in the airport
Cons: Reservation was a 48 hour noon to noon.
I didn't pick up until 7pm. Dollar refused to give me a 48 hour rental from the 7pm pick up.
As an airline employee this has never happened on any previous rental.
Pros: Car was decent, eventually paid less than expected due to earlier return, helpful security guard at the exit from rental facility (unlike Hertz employees).
Cons: Kayak booking was in the system, but somehow Hertz wanted to charge me 2x more than Kayak price. Employees at Hertz Gold Plus Rewards checkin were unpleasant and incredibly incompetent, to the point of not being able to spell correctly "Road" in my address. Hertz wanted to charge 9.99USD / gallon when I forgot to refuel - so had to return to a nearby gas station where petrol costs 2USD/gallon.

Pros: After they found car, it was decent
Cons: Poor service. Delays. Car smelled fun. Was late to meeting because they couldn't find car. Charged for upgrade.
Cons: The gentleman at the counter told me my car choices, none of which were stated on the original buy in. They were the or equal... Since I would be driving my elderly parents around I was talked into "upgrading" for another $70.00. I went to the lot and it was still a small puddle jumper. Upgrade might mean upgrade to power windows. In the end with all the fees and taxes it was way more than stated. I want to know the out the door price please!
