The location is simply superb, being right in front of Teatro Solis in the heart of Ciudad Vieja. The corner room on the second floor has a phenomenal view of this beautiful building from its small balcony.
While I knew that bathrooms would be shared, I never realized they would be shared with the ENTIRE floor, which is 10 rooms i.e. 10-20 people. Also, the walls between the rooms are really thin and you can hear your neighbors' loud music at night.
Very friendly staff, great location, and great price. Perfect for someone looking for a place to stay that feels like a big shared home rather than a stuffy corporate hotel. (Say hi to Alaska the cat when you arrive!) Fun eclectic art and plants are fun to explore in the shared spaces. This was our 2nd stay here and we'll be back :)
Walls between rooms are a little thin, but that is the nature of most hotels I think. I saw a few reviews mention street noise... yes, there is a little but you are near two pedestrian-only roads which helps make it _much_ quieter than other places we've stayed in the city.
The staff was super friendly and helpful! Great vibes in this funky hotel. Nice common areas too.
Everything exceeded my expectations.
The hotel is very well located just steps away from the Independencia square as well as from the Cathedral and the Teatro Solis. It occupies a beautiful historical building and is full of nice vintage decorations and objects that make it double as some sort of museum. Reception is 24/7, the staff is super friendly. Last but not least, the place boasts a magnificent white cat named Alaska who welcomes visitors at the entrance.
Although the room was equipped with a heater and really warm blankets, it was a bit on the coldish side (we visited the city in winter, in mid-July). Also, I should mention that we didn't specify if we wanted a smoking or a non-smoking room and got a smoking one that smelled of cigarettes rather heavily. For us it was OK, but in case you care guess you should keep this in mind and specify your preferences beforehand.
Very basic hotel in good location.
