so relaxing and welcoming -after mths of hard work allowed us to unwind
Awesome pool which envelopes the entire resort. Great service from restaurant and Room service. Comfy beds and bathrooms well serviced each day with nice products. The outdoor furniture was quite grubby and stained-would expect a higher standard considering the tarrif charged. Also interior tiled floor of apartment needed cleaning by day 3-this wasn't done. Some more ice cubes or access toi an ice machine would have been good.
Great people and service, awesome pool Very pricey drinks, average food
Resort style especially the pool and bar. Beautiful rooms, lovely cooked breakfast. A little to far from town centre but very peaceful.
The spa on the roof with total privacy Nothing
Lovely room clean and well appointed. Looked over the pool. Pool nice and big, great for swimming. Room service staff were polite and attentive. Hotel grounds were grubby and uncared for. The setting was beautiful but we thought it was disappointing that the lifts and stairways were dirty and the gardens were dry and sparsely planted. The hotel was further out of town than we expected.
I liked the fact that they had a beautiful pool right outside your door. The surroundings were wonderful and we felt very relaxed. I would like to go back soon and take my family to Port Douglas. A great place to escape the bustle of life and chill out a bit, walk along the beach.
hotel excellent however food and beverages whilst very good were overpriced
Location was very good, facilities (especially the spa) were very good. Had a good resort feel. Good for families. Pool was large enough not to be crowded. Lovely grounds/gardens. Spa facilities for a massage was very relaxing. The interconnecting doors (2 bedroom apartment) was hard to open for children. The restaurant was expensive. There could've been more deck chairs/umbrellas around the pool.
Attractive, well-designed complex. Room was stylish, comfortable, spacious and quiet. We were given a complimentary upgrade. Coin-operated laundry was disappointing. There was no soap in the vending machine, and the dryer did not dry our clothes properly.
the location and despite the amount of families and "young people" at the swim up bar, my room was quiet and I wasn't really disturbed. I was only there 1 night but it was very nice.
Nice pleasant environment and conveniently located for our holiday. Stocking of buffet breakfast needs to be better monitored and acted upon, as we had to ask most days for items to be re-stocked (at varying times, so it was not due to our being late for breakfast).
All we needed, pool, air con, apartment style, very comfortable, meals available if needed, excellent positioning for our holiday purposes.
pool complex was great for kids. A few dollars should be spent on replacing worn gym equipment. Torn upholstery should be replaced and a fresh coat of paint, would not cost much but make the centre much better than it already is,
the staff were amazing and helpful as were the facilities, the beautiful pool with a swim up bar was great fun, overall a fantastic holiday!
Nice and clean room with modern decor, ample storage, beautiful tropical garden view from our room, beautifully kept grounds especially love the lily pond surounding the restaurant. Expensive food in the restaurant - but it seems to be the same everywhere in Port Douglas. Didn't realize shuttle into town cost $4 oneway.
Beautiful beach, lagoon pools were beautiful as well although many were dirty looking. Good location Very tired resort in desperate need of renovation. Compared to other, much less expensive places in the area they seemed over priced.
We just got a great deal via kayak, $105 a night in Port Douglas. Great value. Room was spacious, clean and comfy. Restaurant is a bit pricey for the qualify of food
we enjoyed our stay from the start. The staff the room, the pool the placement of the hotel was all fantastic thank you.
Helpful staff. Very close proximity to shops, marina and beach. Quiet location. Stairs, no lifts - can be a struggle if you have a lot of luggage.
we loved the spa, also loved the swimming pool. The location was perfect, and we could walk to beach, shops cafes etc.
location, spacious The type of coffee used
Location in centre of Pt Douglas meant that no need for a car.Friendly management who were very helpful when things didn't go quite right - I tripped the power switches twice, also very good advice about the area.
location was good near Macrossen street which is the main street. The Studio room turned out to be a very small unservices en suite room. There was no cooking facility. No food prep area - unless you worked around the small dusty TV cabinet. I was told to wash the dishes in the bathroom sink. Unhygienic and unpleasant. Worst thing was that the shower room was next to a plane glass window that overlooked the high street. The glass is not frosted so everyone can view you having a shower if you have the lights on - the blinds are not good enough. The floor was dirty. The small wardrobe had a broom in it and was not big enough to house 2 suitcases, clothes, and ironing board, iron, broom etc. It was really poor and a really expensive mistake to book this room.
Very easy, comfortable lodgings in a great location....
Excellent hosts, fantastic location on the main street, yet private and quiet. Nice sunny pool. Fabulous spacious balcony with spa. The room needed a bit of a dust / clean.
peace and relaxation
I enjoyed the lovely room I stayed and thought that the hotel grounds, the swimming pool, restaurant etc were beautiful. The staff at the hotel were very helpful too, I couldnt ask for more and it was great value for money.
All round decent hotel could do with the bar saying open past 10 on a fri sat night. Bar closing early.
Nice design, lovely surroundings, reasonable restaurant prices for a resort, and quiet. Note that the resort is approx 4 kms from the centre of Port Douglas; this might not suit those wanting to walk most of the time.
The surroundings of the hotel were beautiful and relaxing with the boardwalks etc and having the rainforest scattered throughout. We could not adjust the temperature in the room, it was impossible to make cooler which was frustrating.
Food wa svery good in restaurant
The restaurant staff were fantastic. They were especially attentive to my children which always comforting. The rooms were great, but smelt a little musty.
very relaxing, very professional,
the pool and room were well designed and really relaxing
Staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel was conveniently located for both the beach and town. The 3 bed apartment we were staying in was very close to the main road going into Port Douglas, therefore traffic started about 6.30 am. Not idyllic or quiet.
My kids loved the pool. Great barrier reef. The beach. Good food. Excellent Watergate restaurant. The sun. The markets.
We stayed here to be at the same location as friends.Unfortunately the ground floor room was dark and was certainly not value for money. We could have got better accomodation for much less.
We stayed in a two bedroom apartment that had a kitchen, washer and dryer, dining inside and on balcony that was comfortable. Management was so helpful in booking events and very kind.
Nice good sized accommodation with everything we needed. Good location and helpful staff.
Nice swimming pool, good and comfortable for kids and perfect location
The cleanliness of the appartment was excellent. The swimming pool was very good.
Very good location. For a stay when we were going places and using hotel just for sleeping, it was ideal. 2 minute walk to beach and 3 minute walk to shops, 3 minutes to marina. Awesome location!
We enjoyed the relaxation and the spa inside was wonderful. Excellent location nice and peaceful surroundings.
Comfortable, affordable accomodation for our family. Suited our needs beautifully. Kitchen well set up. No negative thoughts
The hotel allowed comfort and privacy in a casual setting.Coud work and relax Enjoyed easy access to pool . Liked not having daily room serviceing. Servicing when requested is better. Good location.easy walk to town. There was a huge cockroach in my room.
unusual layout, breezy, hotel surrounds pools, comfortable beds with normal pillows (not the trendy overstuffed sofa cushions that are more common)
Swimming Pool For a charge of $220/night I had no mimi bar, no room service and only buffet breakfast which was extra. I have never spent that much on a hotel room and that supplied so little in the way of facilities
great location but when i book on the internet it does not tell you that the towels are changed everyday and cleaning done. i thought that it would be like the gold coast where they have towels cleaned .thats the only complaint i have.
The nature style of the place...the bush location. its remoteness from Port Douglas and the clear attempt by the hotel to force you to eat there at, what I think are excessive prices. There's a lack of "budget" priced eats and even the so-called "happy hour" is excessively charge. Then for a 13 number, the hotel charges you $1.10. I like the place, but I just felt I was being fleeced.
This hotel was wonderful! The staff was very friendly and helpful in getting tours. We highly recommend Mandalay Luxury Beachfront.
Spacious luxury apartments. Friendly and helpful staff. Great location
The office staff was very knowledgable and helpful in planning tours and activities. We really enjoyed our stay!
Easy walking distance to all facilities, well furnished apartment, good size balcony, good car parking and excellent service from staff. We strongly objected to smoking on balconies. We, on many occasions were denied the right to enjoy sitting/eating on our balcony due to smoke from adjoining balconies which has an adverse effect on our health. Would recommend this hotel if you are a passive smoker but certainly not for non smokers.
We were a family of 5 adults staying in a 3-bedroom apartment for a special holiday to celebrate a birthday. We were totally satisfied with everything from the beautiful, roomy apartment with a wonderful balcony, swimming pool and barbeque facilities, to the wonderful friendly and helpful staff.
Excellent location - very close to beach, close to MaCrossan street, but at the same time in a very quiet and secluded location. Nothing I can think of.
The relaxed, but caring attitude of manager and staff very much appreciated after a long trip. Great to be so close to beach. Liked decor, very comfortable.
The Hotel is located within minutes from the beach, shoppin area and the restaurants.
We found the place very clean and comfortable. A good value and would recommend it to anyone unless your on a budget. Internet service should be provided at no cost at this price level.
Location was great close to shops, restaurants & beach Toilet paper not replenished during room clean & bins not emptied
Close to Port Douglas shops, restaurants, cafes, hotels and beaches. Daintree,Tableland, Great Barrier reef day tours easy to arrange and participate in. Very relaxing environment for a stress free holiday. Especially in early November. Lack of privacy while using outside balcony.
The hotel was in easy reach of the shops and the wharf.
Location was pretty good, and quite clean comfort was reasonable and there was no real privacy. Very impersonal.
Close to Marina and centre of Port Douglas, lovely pool/entertainment area. Such a minor aspect but the water pressure in shower was not very good.
managers were wonderful and helpful just realize that you have to provide your own toilet paper, soap, etc.
Location was great, early checkin arranged, nice room, car parking facilities We only had one room clean during our 10 day stay, that's only one towel/linen change, safe box hire charge per day should be included in room rate
The pool was fantastic, bbq facilities were great, very close to main street for cafes and restaurants, walk to beach in 5 min, great location, walk to marina. Beautiful surroundings at retreat, great tropical relax feel to it. Would definately stay again and recommend it. The showers are too small in resort rooms.
The surrounds - unit was beside the pool, in a garden setting, and was convenient to the CBD No
