Well located, friendly, charming cottages, good breakfast, easy access to sights of interest (by car). Soundproofing of rooms
We had an enjoyable stay at the Vogafjos-Guesthouse. The cabin was clean and spacious despite the lack of mod-cons. The shower had poor water pressure and the shower head resulted in limited water flow. Overall, it wasn't great value but with limited options in the area it's not a bad choice.
The wooden room is big and spotless clean. Staff is helpful. The breakfast is the best in my whole trip of Iceland. A good place as a base for the tour of the Myvatn area.
The chalets themselves were cosy, welcoming and well appointed. The location was ideal for accessing the local attractions. We sat on the chalet veranda watching the Northern Lights which was memorable using the undefloor heating to defrost every 20 minutes or so. Unfortunately due to refurbishment the adjoining Cafe was closed (although they did make an admirable effort for breakfast) meaning that getting an evening meal was difficult, however, once refurbished this would not be an issue.
very nice place, rooms are beautifull, location is exellent for trips to the area, and their restaurant is very good.
Love the location. The food was excellent! The shower facilities and interenet connection were poor.
Great new lodges, parking, internet, Breakfast...and if lucky great view of sky at night for Aurora Borealis!
no internet, no telephone, no TV. The pillow is not comfortable.
Cozy rooms, friendly staff, nice restaurant. Really enjoy their idea to put cows behind the glass at the restaurant. No wi-fi in rooms as was promised in hotel description. It took several attempts to find them - pointer on the road says about Vogafjos Cafe, cows, milk and other stuff, but nothing about hotel or guesthouse.
The rooms were small but very nicely designed. The wooden features were quite nice, and the beds were comfortable. The food at the nearby cafe was also very good, especially the ice cream. Seeing cows so near to the cafe, while having ice cream, was great. The rooms are very close to each other, and you can sometimes hear your neighbor.
Free internet, coffee machine in room, good breakfast (for Icelandic standard). Expensive.
location Ladies should clean rooms earlier. 16.00 is too late!
Courteous, knowledgeable staff and lots of attractions in the area. Restaurant was far too expensive and limited
Location is wonderful and the little cafe next door was a perfect way to end each day.
Location was perfect, staff were friendly and helpful (although I expect this in any hotel anywhere). The local area map provided was very helpful. Double rooms should have double beds - simple. Two single beds pushed together does not a double room make. Iceland is pricey, but even so the room was expensive. In any other location this would definitely be a deal breaker. By the time we breakfasted (not all that late) all hot food was stone cold. Really there was no sign of anything that would justify the high end price tag.
Spacious, comfortable room and friendly, welcoming staff. Good choice of food which was well cooked and presented.
Right off Route 1 yet quiet and secluded. Nice design touches. Very helpful staff. Room was quite noisy when neighbours were present.
when minor problem was raised they dealt with it very quickly and efficiently didnt spend a lot of time in the hotel, so feel it would be unfair to comment. Generally very positive impression.
Free breakfast. Walls are very thin. People next door were talking very loud uh until 4-5am. Also my curling iron caught fire when I plugged it in.
The Icelandic people are very friendly and at this hotel we were most impressed. The service was excellent and the location fantastic as Myvatn has so much to see. Fantastic view from our bedroom of the Lake and every facility in the room itself. Nothing
Nice room, located near things to see Expensive restaurant, but there is competition on the other side of the parking lot
Small size room
The staff was very nice. The room was a little cramped.
Small size room, bathroom wasn´t clean.
superb location easy to find no lift but was offered help by a very friendly hotel receptionist
The hotel was clean, the food was good and the staff friendly and very helpful. The location was excellent, with great views of the lake from the dining room and easy access to an interesting walk through the pseudo-craters. I would be glad to stay there again.
View on the lake Two separate beds, extremely small room for a huge price (** hotel with a price of a **** star hotel)
The rooms were tidy and spacious (though VERY spartan). Wifi availability worked well. The rooms weren't very well appointed: the pillows were awful, there was no extra toilet paper, the shower head was broken and soaked what toilet paper we did have. There was a restaurant attached to the hotel but it was unbelievably awful: it was completely unorganized and the food was practically inedible. We ended up getting a refund for our dinner it was so bad.
None. I'm a frequent traveller. Unfortunately I didn't like any aspect of the hotel. Very low quality in all aspect with the price of a 5-star hotel. Bedding of the poorest quality you can ever imagine (or rather you can not imagine!). Worst/simplest bed linens/quilt I've seen in my entire life!! For the price of 2-3 times of other hotels, I thought it must be a joke! Our rate includes a buffet breakfast, however breakfast time starts fairly late. As we need to catch a flight and wouldn't make it, we asked the reception to pack us some breakfast on the go. We got 2 pieces of bread with one super thin ham and cheese and 2 pieces of cucumber in it and were charged as take-away lunch!!! Throughout the reception was cold and didn't give any welcoming
Cleanliness Poor clerk, very poor breakfast, no working tv
