Overview

Nanaimo rises above a working harbour on Vancouver Island's east coast, a city of seaplanes, ferries, and the sweet local namesake bar, with the Old City Quarter just up the hill. Overlooking the marina and steps from the seaplane terminal, the Best Western Dorchester Hotel, Nanaimo, Canada, is a heritage-style hotel in the thick of the coastal charm. Inside, free high-speed Wi-Fi, a fitness centre, free guest laundry, and a rooftop patio make an easy base for leisure and business, with an on-site restaurant serving local flavours and a view that's hard to beat. Five versatile event spaces handle everything from boardroom meetings to banquets. Stroll the Old City Quarter, hop a ferry to Newcastle Island, follow the Nanaimo Bar Trail, or catch the daily cannon at the Bastion, with the Marine Festival and the famous Bathtub Race a summer highlight. Let the harbour and the island air take it from there.

Pros (+) Great staff and location. Clean facility
Cons (-) Parking was rough. The AC needed repairs and was loud so we did not sleep during the night. We also had an issue with the lights not working so we had to utilize each lamp since the main switch did not work for the room. He AC was a huge bother. Very loud.
