Location Not enough lights, breakfast was very poor
very helpful staff, good food, nice indoor pool.
Location was ideal and room was pleasant Not much buffet choice for breakfast
Views, breakfast and plenty of cofortable seating make this a lovely hotel at good price. All rooms kept warm, a bonus in November, Well within reach of Eden project and Lost Gardens.
Good service, good staff, very nice surroundings. No mini bar in hotel room, however the staff had an exelent and quick room service
indoor pool and jacuzzi
comfortable room [ upgraded to a double], spacious bathroom, friendly staff and a smoking room - what a treat !! Would use this hotel again.
Comfort, and staff were very good, food always hot and presented nicely, could not fault it in anyway
Swimming pool, friendly staff The hotel is very tired and needs money spending on it, a lick of paint for a start. The roof terrace was terrible although it could be a feature withy some investment
the hotel was very comfotable the staff frendly and wellcoming nothing was to much trouble for them ,the room was lovely and clean, cleaning staff frendly and helpful food brillient really enjoyed are stay and will be staying there again thank you all. nothing
The hotel has its own identity and does not have the typical "premier inn" "travelodge" feel of many hotels in this price range. Some might find the rooms a bit dated but we prefer the cosy individual style more appealing. It's very clean and the food in the bar is excellent. Have stayed before and will do so again. Although we were happy with our un-refurbished room, I agree with those reviewers that say that the photos on the site are misleading and can see why people expecting rooms such as those shown would be disappointed.
the location of the hotel is good. the staff are friendly loads of space and the food is good. service is good and quite quick
Staff very helpful and cheerful Decor a bit tired; restaurant area needs to be split up
The Great Western in Newquay had lots of indoor and outdoor seating available with stunning views and centrally located Having booked on line with no reference to the availability of some parking spaces - we arrived with our car for a week only to be told only telephone reservations get a chance to book a space. Why couldn't the website ask you to ring to book a space. We spent the week feeding parking metersin the evening and again by 9am. Not very restful !!!
The Great Western is in the right in the centre of 'Clubbing' Newquay, but is a 10 minute walk away from the town centre so perfect for if you are a fan of Berties and Barracudas! It was gopod value for money and the beds are very comfortable! It has recently been refurbished, so seems very grand when you enter at reception. It needs to have more parking. That was ridiculous how there was only about 10 parking spots! There is no places to park in the centre of Newquay unless you pay in the 'pay and display' car-parks, which as you can guess, are rather pricey in the centre of newquay!
The room was spacious, with hot café and tea provided, nice in the cold winter! well located close to the beach and to all the facilities. Restaurant and bar services with a good menu. The room was cold, the heating was switch-off when we arrived in the room (and outside was snowing!). Really really noising during all night, we woke up several time due to the other guest running and chatting in the corridor (didn't understand why the reception don't do something in this case see that they are open 24h)
Staff very friendlt and pleasant. Street noise - being next to night club, can't be helped.
Excellent location, good value for money for a budget holiday!! Nice room and great views
It is very clean and does not have smell of damp :) Included is the shower gel that helps with dry skin in this dry weather.
Convience to beach and shops When we first checked into the hotel we were put in a room right above where the trash bids were locared and the smell was awful. The new room we were moved into the shower did not work properly, no water pressure.
Elegant, well appointed hotel exuding charm and comfort. Spacious dining and common areas with very appealing decor. Large, very comfortable room with walk-in closet and very comfortable bed. Excellent food. Outstanding location on a hill over-looking the sea with beautiful views. Parking space was limited. Sea view room over-looked the roof of the dining room below.
Room standard was much higher than expected Heating was turned up too high and there was no way to control it in the room. Also just having a standard double bed was disappointing - in a 'deluxe' room I was expecting a King.
Awesome views. Luxurious hotel with amazing history and fabulous location. Nice compromise between modern requirements and traditional features. Very well kept decor. Price is good. Food is good. Breakfast lovely - with amazing views too. They are working on the place regularly to improve it, but you don't really notice it happening. Never tried the pools, but they look very inviting. Rooms are always incredibly hot even with heating off and not all rooms have sufficient windows that open or aircon. Showers vary in power. Room descriptions are generic and don't always describe the room accurately.
Glad we up graded room, hotel heated very well during this time of year. to use the sauna facilities you had to purchase a card in order to use the it......not on for this type of hotel very petty.
the beautiful sea views and decore and design of a beautiful hotel. parking is awlful and our car was hit in car park, think we werent the only ones! no room to move and too small spaces.noone stopped and hit and run!!!!
Location, views, parking and knowledge of some members of staff re the history of the hotel, also staff serving breakfast on the Sunday very polite and efficent. View out to sea good but on looking down lots of building material, ladders and scaffolding poles on first floor roof. Would have liked information re swimming pool on arrival, but this did seem to be restricted due to building work.
Courteous, polite staff. Room mix up on arrival which was sorted out and we were given an upgrade with no fuss and all went smoothly. Would definitely stay again.
Staff were very considerate and kind. Views were amazing from majority of the hotels windows. Room was clean and comfortable. Food to order at breakfast was very good and buffet selection was varied. The Terrace provided a good choice of meals with a lovely view of the beach. Dinner menu was a little limited. Room and the food and drink on offer were a little pricey. Didnt receive hotel information and room service menu till last day of stay which was unfortunate as we felt we missed out a little on what the hotel had to offer.
The relaxed atmosphere, great breakfasts and the attentiveness of the catering and reception staff.
Welcoming and efficient Food was fabulous N / A
Everything about this hotel was excellent from the very first welcom, the food, staff and the location. Couldn't fault it.
The staff were helpful and courteous, the food was fantastic and the hotel itself was very welcoming and luxurious.
Excellent food, staff were always very helpful, view of the sea, every where very clean Spa and swimming pool - not very impressed with, needs updating.
free use of Wi-Fi Car parking facilities
This was a well-appointed hotel and conveniently located in Newquay. Newquay itself is convenient for exploring the coast of Cornwall. Staff were very friendly and helpful, and have provided plenty of options for entertainment in the hotel.
The staff were lovely and the breakfast was very nice. The room was very clean and value for money. The facilities were great. I cant complain about anything No
The warm welcome, the fantastic rooms and the lounge facilities. The views from the luxury rooms were great.
Me and my partner had a wonderful stay at The Quies. As soon as we got there, we were greeted warmly and personally shown around. The room was fantastic, the breakfast was delicious and the service was amazing. There is something to do every day, everything we needed is a short walk away. To top it off the beach is a few minutes down the road! All in all, a fantastic place to stay. No complaints at all.
the extras offered, such as free use of the internet
great value for money .first class services .the best
Very friendly, extremely helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was generous and very tasty. No
Awesome hosts, beautiful hotel. I have paid a great deal before and not had this standard! Amazing value highly recommended :)
Excellent hospitality. The breakfast is huge - keeps you going all day. The en-suite was excellent too. No. A thoroughly enjoyable stay.
good food nice staff very well managed very clean found the room to hot
The hotel was clean and the staff were very kind. Food was top class The room, although very good, was a little on the small side for a double room.
Very helpful staff and the breakfast was really good. I liked the way we were given our own key to come and go by a side door. The tea and coffee facilities were generous. The bed was rather hard and I would prefer cotton sheets. Also, the shower was small and I would prefer a screen rather than a curtain as the curtain tends to stick to your body.
good access to airport good parking excellent breakfast and service
Bathroom and bedroom had high standard of cleanlinss Despite advertisement outside the property we were unable to book any evening meal, evening meal only available if one booked it first thing in the morning, hardly applicable to a B&B when arriving at 1600hrs. We had to leave at 0630 in the morning and not even the most simple breakfast was available until 0800
breakfast, shower, bed was too small and tv was unviewable unless stood up
The friendliness of the owners and the quality of the food The en suite facilities were cramped.
excellent breakfast cooked fresh to order
Convenient, clean, friendly and comfortable.
Well positioned for onward flight from Newquay Airport. The weather was really bad on the day of our departure but the hotel owner was kind enough to let us stay in the hotel lounge until time to go for our plane at 1.30pm
The room was neat, spacious and immaculately clean No bad points.
A very pleasant experience all round, just like home from home but even friendlier, will be using again when in that area, fabulous :0).
The breakfast, Alison and her husband, the close proximity to the main strip - even though the hotel is in a very quiet location.
made very welcome on arrival, stafffriendleyand helpfull.goodlocation for local ammenities, and handy for getting out and about.
warm and welcoming on arrival and throughout stay. clean, good breakfast and close to beach/town. shower spray was very week
Loved Daisy the boxer dog and the cooked breakfast. A good location, very close to town and beach but wonderfully quiet. Large comfortable lounge with good television, good to have freeview in room. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Bathroom was bit jaded, and shower took an age to get hot. Not everything on the breakfast menu was available. Overpowering air freshener in lounge.
Nothing at all
Glenn and Alison were lovely. Fabulous place. Great rooms and lovely breakfast. Good quiet location. Loved it all. Nope.
Close to a wide area of interest's Overpriced
near to the beach, recommended brekfast menu, every day the same.
Charming hotel. Great value, nice friendly staff, delicious food. Loved the lobby area with the view of the beach and comfortable chairs. Easy access to beach. Location was terrific. A larger television with more channels would be nice!
The excellent reception staff. I arrived - late - after an unexpected visit to hospital. They couldn't have been more helpful and produced a snack even after the kitchen had closed. Full marks!! The breakfast really was very cold. Cooked at 0630 - 0700 no doubt and left under poor heat lamps till I went for breakfast at 0830. Such a shame!
The staff were excellent, very friendly and very willing to help in any way The sqeaky floorboards in the hall outside the door.
Location. Views. Helpful staff. Very little parking. Poor temperature control made showering nearly impossible.
As the weather was not very good we used the Bay hotels pool facilities which were great as the pool etc in the Esplanade were very disappointing
The cleanliness and the variety of food were the excellent features which appealed. As I am short in height, I did not find the chairs in the lounge very comfortable.
Reception and bar staff were extremely helpful and friendly nothing was too much trouble Room was above function room and music was very loud until midnight and couldn't get to sleep then kept up by the stream of partygoers heading back to their rooms for the next hour. Our room was below a family with young children, very loud and kept us awake and woke us up early morning.
The cleanliness of the rooms was particularly good, and the staff were very friendly and helpful The heating being on was a bit of a pain
Great hotel, small but pleasant pool / jaccuzzi area, large, modern bedrooms, large tv (very limited digital chanels), great location litterally overlooking fistral beach & some great out of season deals as well as vastly reduced room rates, ie 50% off restaurant voucher on arrival, buffet breakfast £5.Ideal base for winter golf break if you can get the right deal. Very limited TV chanels, 8 at the most
In fairness it was ideal for the short stay we had and met our basic needs. It was close to the town centre and beach, but the added bonus was that it had a car park.
Clean and friendly
Ease of check in, Rubbish parking facilities, woken up both mornings we stayed at an unearthly hour considering it was our weekend away by the sound of banging from the waterpipes,
One of the staff that was running the hotel on the sunday night that we stayed went out of his way to find us a taxi as the weather was incredibly bad and we did not want to walk into town as it would have messed our hair up :-) We all really appreciated this!! Me and my friend that I shared with were slightly put off my the toilet and there was a big gap down the side of the door and we found it was not very private... good job we could turn the tv up!
Well placed for car travel .Very friendly staff Nothing--we'd go again
The staff were extremely helpful. Depending on the placement of the room, there can be noise from the bar area. The bedroom was facing the main street, but it was quiet with the windows shut!
the lady in reception room was really nice one thing that our room is kind of smelling
Helpfulness of staff
The service was friendly The rooms needed some TLC, our room was a little smelly! We also thought the hotel was for more of the older age.
friendless staff, clean ,parking no comfey chairs in lounge found seating uncomey not able to relax in seating provided
Friendly service good family run establishment with a good quality breakfast 1St room syay bathroom facilty was cramped we moved to room 2 that was much better
Friendly and helpful host. The hotel is within easy vehicular reach of the attractions (Eden Project and Heligan Gardens,) which were the reason for the visit, and there are a couple of decent restaurants within easy walking distance. Room adequate in size and comfort, in line with the reasonable price.
Very friendly and hosts.
Friendly, relaxed atmosphere, convenient for local attractions, car parking
The full cooked breakfast which was included in the price was excellent!
We very much liked the location and views, the excellent facilities, the amazing decor of the reception area/lounge and the practicality of the family room. The staff were also very polite, helpful and friendly. The ten-pin bowling alley was a great bonus! Some of the areas in the hotel and our room were a little dated and jaded and would greatly benefit from the same face-lift as the reception/lounge. The hotel has huge potential and we look forward to staying there again.
\\Friendly and helpful staff. runnng out of what was on the menue when main chef was off.
Swimming pool, recreational activities, location Not all the rooms have been upgraded yet, drinks service in the restaurant sporadic, lots of 'turkey and tinsel' pensioners
The hotel was easy reach for Newquay and was able to do some lovely walks from there, The 3 course meal was very good value, and the service was good and everyone was very friendly. The hotel was very basic, it was our Ruby wedding felt it would of been nice if there was some music.
nice hotel good location and good room having to order evening meal at breakfast time
Excellent help from staff especially the gentleman on the late night shift who gave me wake up call, toasted me some breakfrast and arranged taxi to airport. No phone in room
Film show provided on Saturday evening! Nice pool. Rooms comfortable, airy and spacious. Table tennis and pool table great for the kids. Quite a long walk into Newquay and limited to choice of places to eat within a short walking distance.
