A beautifully restored old mill with wonderful reception areas and good restaurant and bar. Everything was excellent until the third breakfast which bore no resemblance to the previous two. It was poorly cooked and one slice of streaky bacon is not acceptable in such a fine establishment.
The food was pricey but excellent
fantastic atmosphere fantastic decor and comfort fantastic host charles
The staff were fantastic, the food was wonderful made all the more special enjoying after dinner drinks next to the roaring open fires!! Rooms were simple and elegant. The hotel was set in the middle of little country lanes giving the feeling of true escape and relaxation. I Couldn't have hoped for anything more perfect on a break with my boyfriend!!
the friendliness and care the staff took of us the winding lanes needs to be signposted clearer, but we were soon directed by a friendly local
Exellent staff, great location, Owls loft was great and the kids just loved the seperate room. We didn't eat as we were visiting freinds but menu looked good, we will eat next time. Breakfast was excellent, whatever coffee you use, it tasted great! Overall highly recommended. None worth mentioning
Cosy, homely and friendly. Internet did not work, causing minor headache !
Staff were fantastic, food was great and room was decorated to a very high standard. Would have been nice to have had a proper shower i.e. one you didn't have to hold (although not in keeping with the decor)
Friendly and helpful staff Comfortable room Good food Very quiet. A pity the curtain rail fell down! The lighting in the room was a bit dim.
Good English breakfast and helpful staff. Bedroom furniture (especially beds) needs updating and hotel generally needs renovation.
Convenient location for our visit to Dartmoor National Park.
Very friendly helpful staff. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The food was excellent There was nothing
Clean,basic facilities,helpful staff,excellent breakfast.
it was so convemient both for the main road to Exeter and Plymouth and for getting to Dartmoor and the coast As the rooms nearby were being upgraded we had to put up with the smell of paint which tended to get into our throats. It was touch and go whether we asked for another room when we arrived and we really should have done!
the staff are deligtfully freindly with a homely atmosphere. good clean rooms and excellant food at a very reasonable price
All very good, excellent food at night Buffet style breakfast - OK if you want fried, but no alternative, eg poached or scrambled eggs. Tended to be luke warm. it's a good hotel but hte outside lets it down. It needs a lick of paint and signs putting up.
There was a good choice of real ale and the carvery was very good on Sunday. Very friendly staff. Comfortble stay, well positioned for walking Dartmoor.
Clean with good food. Pleasant quiet location with easy access close to A38 Hotel with good potential but decor was tired and hotel was in need of some maintenance and improvements to meet standards expected of Country Inns.
The service throughout was excellent, with staff being friendly and very helpful. The food was of a good standard. The bar gets very busy at weekends ! Decor in bedrooom was a bit dated; but for the money this is no way by way of a complaint !
Location of Hotel close to town centre, staff friendliness & service. Facilities in hotel good, on site parking ample, gardens looked lovely (shame it was freezing) restaurant service/food good. Staff excellent left camera at hotel whom immediately called to inform us giving time to come back and collect before we got to far (on our way to a wedding) Brilliant service
the pleasantness of all the staff, catering specially for the sight impaired, Nothing is too much trouble, they all welcome you as one of the family. the bed while firm could have used a more comfortable cover especially for the older guests such as us.
A very dog friendly hotel with dog bed plus two stainless steel dog bowls in the room. Close to the town centre with a good view from the room of the bay food up to three star standard with helpful staff It was impossible to lay back in the bath for a soak because the wall behind the bath was at an angle so you were unable to put your head all the way back.
The staff where all friendly and helpful Menu needs improving
Comfortable rooms and beds, helful staff Breakfast was too late for business people. Shower too powerful, ended up with a swimming pool in bathroom. Breakfast too early for business guests. Shower too powerful, ended up with a swimmimg pool in bathroom
Location was good for going into the town. Was unaware from the site that this was a hotel for the blind
Very clean; comfortable (if narrow) bed in twin room. Food very average.
The room was very nice and clean, with tea/coffe making facilities and we were able to take our dog with us instead of leaving her in the kennels. The hotel mainly caters for blind people and is very well set up for that. The grounds are lovely and great for walking the dog or having a stroll. Friendly staff, who, although we didn't need anything during our visit, appeared to be very helpful to people who needed assistance. There is plenty of car parking and the hotel is just a few minutes from the beach and town. Nothing much to say about what we didn't like, the only thing for us would be that the hotel appears to be oriented towards the older age group and although we are in our 50s, it seemed to old for us.
staff very friendly always made sure your welcome--nothing to much trouble , even prin ting a AAroute map to Exmoor evening food inclueded new potatoes with every meal on our stay--even wit sauages and gammon (should have been mash / chips)
Excellent room, views, parking, proximity of town. Swimming pool opening times.
Excellent location, friendly, helpful staff, and good food
Peace and quiet, nicely decorated private and public rooms, friendly helpful staff. Room a little on the small side maybe, but tastefully firnished and comfortable.
The staff were extremely welcoming and very polite especially the Reception staff The room was very dark
warm, friendly and efficient staff and beautiful location
Very friendly staff. We were made very welcome and our children were well recieved. The choice of food was a bit "posh" for us and too expensive but you can eat elsewhere. It wouldnt stop us going again.
Great place to relax in and wonderfully peaceful and quiet with good swimming pool. The decor in room was tired and in need of a more modern touch. Bathroom too small and little room to put wash bags.
We enjoyed our visit to Devon as we visited our friends in Devon and Cornwall but unfortunately the Hotel was not what we were expecting. We found our room dull and not up to modern standards with reference to plumbing. Given that the Hotel is in the Dartmoor national park, the view over a most unattractive flat roof was frankly very dissapointing. The owners were apologetic but our 40th Wedding anniversary trip was not enhanced by that and we left early.
food, peace, situation bed banged, slightly cramped,
The friendliness of hotel staff and the countryside setting
Good Location, and pleasant staff albeit at a quiet time of the season.
Staff were very friendly and recieved a five star service with a friendly happy staff would recommend to friends.
Warm welcome, comfortable bed, lovely shower, cozy dining room, excellent breakfast.
Relaxed atmosphere and very nice and friendly owners and staff. A really good setting in a very peaceful spot. The bed was a bit hard and could have done with a mattress topper for the care of us oldies hips.
good food, homely rromcomfortable
The friendly staff and the ambiance of the place Small bits could be improved in terms of the furnishing but nothing of any significance.
The location, relaxing atmosphere, quality food and service,no time constraints.
We enjoyed wonderful buffet and cooked breakfasts served by very friendly staff. We also enjoyed a very accessible walk along part of the Templer Way.
The Friendly atmosphere No
Friendliness of staff. Relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, enhanced by Sarah's beautiful artistic touches everywhere. Loved watching the geese, ducks, chickens etc.
Care and attention of the staff, quality of the food and wine - and especially the free upgrade we were given on our arrival!
Welcoming owner & good explanation of facilities(iron & I. Board) & room. Good breakfast. Friendly family run b&B. Unusual & attractive old building with a ground floor room; upstairs rooms might be difficult if disabled or elderly, narrow, steep stairs. Newly fitted out bathroom with bath & over bath shower.
Very friendly host, go out of way to make our stay comfortable.
Very nice family, superb breakfast, spotlessly clean No day room for guests to mix
Very friendly staff, comfortable rooms and convenient location
Easy to find, good parking, friendly welcome and nice clean, fresh and well equipped room. Downstairs room was noisy with other guests using stairs.
The location of the hotel and the friendly staff. It would help if they had a menu for breakfast.
Very warm welome and helpfulness, excellent breakfast, interesting accommodation. Nothing at all
Very friendly and welcoming. Good breakfast, nicely served. Although details of what to do in the event of fire were in the guest information book, in the event of an emergency one would not have time to study this. I would therefore suggest that a printed card giving this information should be affixed to the inside of the bedroom door. We run a b & b ourselves and the aa have insisted we do this including information on how to contact the proprietors in the event of a medical emergency.
Made us feel very welcome.
Lovely place, very cosy, beautiful room, great view on the sea, very stylish common areas, very friendly staff, clean, fantastic breakfast, great value for money. The hotel is relatively close to the main road, hence you can hear cars/buses, but this definitely wasn't a show stopper and I will certainly visit the hotel again.
Friendly staff, Impeccable room, reasonable price. Quiet and comfortable
Lovely views over the estuary. Good leisure facilities and excellent food Drinks expensive in the hotel bar.
Excellent location, close to main A38 through Devon and on the Teign estuary itself. Nice view from hotel. adjacent Inn did excellent food. Hotel had swimming pool and sauna. Breakfast at £10 extra seemed expensive though we didnt sample it. We just had our own food with our morning tea in our room.
The views from the veranda or "decking" as the staff called it were sublime. Nice pool too but full of kids at all times. The room decor is seriously dated. I kept expecting to see Alan Partridge pop his head round the corner. The kettle, trouser press, hairdryer, shower were straight from the 80s and the TV had poor signal and the norm 5-channels & BBC News 24 and that's it.
Adjacent to Passage House Inn serving food at reasonable prices (including Specials) in addition to a small range of Real Ales. Noise from main road and railway.
it had a bad smell when entering the food was cheap and reflected that
Quiet and clean in a nice location.
The view over the river The bathroom was old and dingy, and so were the pool facilities. At the breakfast buffet, we could not get any milk in the morning, only to find out that our second choice, juice, would have gone off. Re freshness, some fruit did not seem to be edible.
Very relaxing stay and quiet. Breakfast that was included in the price was freshly cooked and excellent. The only small problem was the noise from the cold water system when I turned the cold tap on or off.
