Every service is perfect.....the only thing they got to do better is leave the pools open for a longer time ...my wife and I went here for our 25th anniversary on May of 2013 and we are going back in July of 2014.... But our kids are coming with us this time...my kids enjoy the pools the only thing they are not going to like is that the pools close at 7:00 pm
Had a great time, staff amazing, food great, very well run.
I liked everything about this hotel. The location is superb and the beach very clean. Relatively close to the airport so you can enjoy the beach a little longer. Food was great since I love fresh fish but the drinks other than the beer are rather low quality so that's where the hotel lost me big time. The room is average yet spacy and comfortable. The staff is VERY friendly and the hotel is very well taken care of, impecable. Oh, and if you need cash, there's an ATM outside the property next to the pharmacy by the traffic light which will give you a much better rate than the hotel and it is very safe.
The hotel has such a wonderful staff. They are great! The grounds are gorgeous, the nightly entertainment is fun and it is nice to have so many pools and bars to choose from. The negatives for us were: rough sheets on the bed, no printer to go with the only two computers available on Block 4 (lack of computers to check on flights and print out boarding passes), having to make dinner reservations early in the morning and the noise from the theater and karaoke bar across the street from the hotel. The hotel is an excellent value for the money. It would be nice to see more than just Canadians there, though. The majority of the people there were Canadians. Even the t.v.s were showing hockey and curling. We would go back again.
This was a Family vacation. The trip was enjoyable due to my Family. The food was average, nothing special. The entertainment was great, but could not understand most of it. 90% of the entertainment was in Spanish. Also, very few people understood English at the front desk. We were suppose to have a bottom floor went to two rooms and still never received a bottom floor room. A crib was suppose to be in the room. But that took almost two hours to arrive and we arrived at 10 pm, so my child was screaming by the time the crib came due to being so tired. I went around the pool and cleaned up cups and trash so that my kids and other kids would not play with it or around it. We travel a lot and this place was not the greatest.
Everyone was very friendly and nice. We stayed in building 5. Too close to the theater. It was very loud until after 11 or so. However, the pool is the adult pool and was relatively quiet. For the best margaritas, see Rene at the pool in building 6. This was the most relaxing pool. The front buildings have very busy pools and alot of kids and noise. The beach was awesome! The water warm. The only downfall was the vendors doing the walk. Some of them, however, were entertaining. The food was good in the buffets and restaurants.
this was a great hotel for the money that we spent. i would highly recommend this hotel for a great get away. we are already planning to go back to the same resort next year with our children. very family oriented and very nice and helpful staff. everyone was great and we had an awesome time at this resort. food was great and entertainment was also very good!!
Welove R.D!! The rooms are not fancy; but very clean. This impresses us more. The restaurants are very good with lots of variety. My husband loves the omelot lady! I think Piccolo's is a wonderful dining experience. We can not say enough good things about R.D. We especially love our long walks before breakfast; and also our walks before we get cleaned up before our late dinners. We will definitely be back!!
The staff was great. Food was above average for an all inclusive.
fantastic resort good for anyone who is looking for some rest and relaxation
My family and I enjoyed our stay at the Royal Decameron in Bucerias very much. There was so much to do every day. The shows at night were great fun. The beach was fabulous. We had so much fun body surfing and boogie boarding. The food was very good. Fresh vegetables and salads were awesome. Speciality restaurants were interesting. Our favourite was the Thai Wok! Our room was spacious and the bed comfortable. Our t.v. didn't work that well, but then we didn't watch much. We hope to return again another time soon.
I didn't realize the hotel room didn't come with any toiletries. Thank god I brought my own. And the food and alcohol were terribly bad. I mean, I've been to all inclusive places before and you can never go in expecting much, but I was eating fruit and salad almost the whole time. Though they offer special reservation only options for dinner, perhaps 4 of them, getting a reservation is tough and the food quality was the same. Not sure why they choose to make everything exorbitantly oily. The beach left much to be imagined although the waves are great for body boarding. If you get a really really good deal on this place, it's okay for a few days if only to get away. Pay any extra or stay any longer and you'll definitely leave wanting more.
This was our 4th straight year to the Royal Decamaron. They are at 50% capacity so many of the bars, buildings, and pools are not open. The food quality is lower and they are not being responsive to problems...i.e. no hot water, etc. Most of the Ala carte restaurants are shut down. On about our third day they must have offered a big promotion to local families because they started busing in all these local families with dozens of children who just took ovr the pools and buffets...screaming, shouting...just crazy. Their parents just let them run wild and security didn't police the resort. The adult pool became another kids pool. The topper was on checkout day we asked for one additional hour to check out so we could head straight to the airport...they said no or they would have to change us for another day! Its not like they needed the room...and it was our 4th straight year.Next year we'll go to where we are appreciated a little more.
I really, really wanted to enjoy my stay here, but it was not at all what we expected. The friendliness of the staff was amazing, but the food and room comfort was TERRIBLE! I'll start with the food.. there are literally hot dogs served for every meal. In omelets, in scrambled eggs, in quesadillas, in salads.. in EVERYTHING! Even in the fettucini alfredo in the supposed nice Italian restaurant! I don't know if I will ever eat another hot dog in my life. And the bed? Might as well have been sleeping on a blanket on the tile floor. It was rock hard. I was able to find a comfortable position but my friend I went with was miserable every night. Air conditioning was either 'on' or 'off' and you couldn't tell much of a difference either way. Hot water? Eh. Sometimes if you turned the hot water knob in the shower on full blast and you were showing mid afternoon, you'd get lukewarm. But since it was usually so hot and muggy in the room it wasn't so bad getting a cool shower. I guess.. I would stay here again if the price was right and I needed another quick getaway, but I would definitely plan to eat in Bucerias more. Oh, it's also difficult to take the bus into town, and it's about 20 bucks into town in a cab.
I want to start by saying that the staff was wonderful! The amenities however, weren't so great. The room was liveable and looked nice. On the down side, there was no stopper in the sink that backed up with the smallest amount of water, and the toilet handle had to be fixed as the rusty chain fell off. That part was acceptable. The food and drinks left little to be desired. What you save in cost reflects most definitely in this area. Breakfast was horrendous! There was a variety of mystery meat and very sugary fruit juice mixtures that were terrible. I do have to say that the dinners were much better (we never had lunch there). The all inclusive drinks were all cheap, overly sweet tasting mixtures out of a gun, even most alcohol was out of the gun. We stayed at another resort our final 2 nights. Oh and don't be late!!! Our 1st flight was cancelled so we booked on another carrier, we were about an hour later than expected and they had cancelled our room, But ''thanks to the manager'' we got another one. Sorry, won't be recommending this place.
My boyfriend and I were expecting a room w/a king size bed. Instead we were given two double beds. It was a huge hassle to change and we had to stay in that room for two of our four nights. We thought it was ALL inclusive instead it is bare minimum inclusive. There were extra fees for little things such as, to use the safe deposit box or to get late check out. They are stingy with the towels and you can only have one at a time and you can't exchange for a new one before noon. There are only two selections of beer, light and dark. They give you the drinks in a tiny plastic cup. So, definately bring your own mug. Our first night there we had no towles in our room, no bars of soap, no bottle of water that I later found out they put in each room everday. We didn't get a chance to eat at any of the restaurants but the buffets were just okay and sometimes bad. We definately will not be going back.
We selected the Royal Decameron after reading so many of the positive reviews, but I was pretty disappointed in our stay there. The beach was nice and the rooms were clean, but the food was really mediocre, and the random rules were pretty frustrating. For example, you can't participate in any of the advertised activities after 5:00 p.m. because they shut down the place where you can get all of the equipment at that time. So, no ping pong, no beach volleyball, no boogie boarding, etc. after 5:00 p.m. Given that I specifically looked for a resort with plenty of activities (I was traveling with 4 teenagers and a 12-year old), it was a big drawback. In addition, although they advertise that they have a basketball court, it's a little bit of concrete with one hoop that isn't at regulation height. I know it sounds crazy, but the 'basketball court' was a primary factor in me choosing the Royal Decameron--one of my sons eats, breathes, and sleeps basketball and was so excited to be able to play while we were there. However, he ended up not playing at all because he knew he was coming back to multiple tournaments and didn't want to mess up his shot by shooting on a 7-foot high basket. All in all, it wasn't horrible, but certainly wasn't all it could/should be. The beds were pretty uncomfortable, and while some staff was very pleasant and helpful, others weren't. I'm glad I read the reviews and remembered to take insulated mugs along for the drinks--definitely a good tip. Shopping in neraby Bucerias was good, and the walk up the beach to get there is definitely doable. However, I will probably choose to stay elsewhere if I return to Puerto Vallarta.
I went here with my friends for five days. We had a nice relaxing trip, which is what we were looking for. There were a lot of rules that they didn't tell you . The food is not the best feature of this place, it needs vast improvement. The pool areas were great and the adult pool is the way to go if you don't have kids. The staff were friendly and tried to make our stay a pleasant one. If you're looking to hang out in your room all day, don't stay here. The rooms are for sleeping and showering, that's it! The complex is really large, maybe too large
While the hotel location was lovely and the rooms clean, we thought the buffet food which came with the all-inclusive was terrible. We both got sick (never happened in Mexico before) and ate at local restaurants which were much better. Recommend the Huichol Village tour for folks interested in learning about indigenous cultures. Looked like a great place for families to vacation.
Bad food, bad alcohol, bad service, rude staff, bad room extras (shampoo, klenex, etc..), Block 6 STINKS like sewage, specialty restaurant serve same food as buffets, buffets all the same, snack bar only open from 11PM-1 AM. Beautiful beach.
My husband and I spent the week following our wedding at the Decameron. He has NEVER been outside the US before and loved Mexico! He has a big appetite and was NEVER hungry. There was always a place close by to get a drink (a bit weak) and plenty of pools to choose from. If staying for the week, buy a cup from their gift shop RIGHT AWAY, it will save you time! If you want a nice, quiet pool, as we did, I recommend the adult pool near blocks 5 & 6. We will definetly go back when we get our passports! We had a blast!
The reviews that we read previous were great, but if you are American be prepared to be in the minority big time. This is something that wasn't put in the reviews. Food is very Americanized as well, so walk down the street if you want real Mexican food. Staff is very helpful as well...if you speak Spanish it's a BIG plus!
For the price and convenience it was worth it to do the all inclusive trip. The breakfasts and lunches are pretty horrible, but the dinners are pretty good. Careful what you eat and drink though. I got really sick during part of the trip. The beach is great, the pools are great. The rooms are clean, and comfortable enough. Make sure you have enough money for the hotel doctor if you get sick. I got sick and didn't have enough money, so they wouldn't help me.
We booked this place based on the reviews. I would have to say I was hopeing for more then we ended up with. But the place if very much what you pay for. Nothing was completely wrong, just less then we wanted. We will spend a little more next time for a better place. But still had a good time.
The food was pretty good, although not available 24/7. Only 1 resturaunt was indoors (and only for dinner). The steakhouse was way too hot. Bring big cups, they use small ones. The pools were great, but activities centered around locals who spoke fluent spanish. We visited the Riu and it seemed it nicer. It was more centered around those who speak English. The grounds were clean and the beaches were nice. The canopy tour was amazing.
The food was sooo terrible I couldn't find anything to eat. We bought a fan to make our room tolerable. The hardest bed I have ever attempted to sleep on. The bathroom had a 1ft.X2ft. vent that went directly outdoors which allowed the heat to come in. Although tips are supposed to be included, the staff makes it clear if you want service they want tips. Which includes alcohol in your drinks. Do yourself a favor and spend a little more, you won't have to spend near as much for transportation if you stay in Puerto Vallarta instead of Bucerias. The rating system failed me on this trip.
If you're accustomed to great service and great food, do not stay at the Royal DeCameron!!! The food is awful and the help act like they're not they're to service you. The grounds & pools were lovely, but we stayed in complex 5 and had to walk quite a bit (which is fine) to try the other restaurants, get beach towels or even go to the beach. If you're older or handicapped this could pose as a problem. We stayed at Dreams Resort in February and this was a 4+ star resort, beautiful and the service was great. I won't be returning to the Royal DeCameron.
The hotel is beautiful. It has a lovely beach and pools, great entertainment, and plenty of food. The check in is kind of crazy. (2 lobbies) They don't go out of their way to accomadate late check outs or room changes.
