LOVED THE HEATED POOL AND HOT TUB! This was one of the best amenities I have ever had in my life. The pool felt around 78-80 degrees and was perfect considering the time of year (January) and the Hot Tub was ridiculously hot. They offer towels there too so it is easy to dry off. Bathroom and bed were adequate and I have no complaints there. Fridge, microwave, and TV all worked fine. The staff was also friendly. Indoor Mini golf place is a block or two away. Pet friendly (can be good or bad) Arcade in the building: games include pinball, two person shooter, Fast and furious Tokyo Drift, Claw machine, and a few others which I found irrelevant. I stayed 2 nights for $95 and I would come here again in a heart beat for that price. As a broke college student, this place will always be the first place I look in the future if the pricing stays around the same.
These are all very minor: You are at 137th street which is good 10/15 min drive to the boardwalk. Hotel restaurant/bar closes in Nov - April (but that's to be expected, imo) Not many bars around to where you can walk back, especially in the winter season. Pet friendly (can be good or bad) Shower/bath water pressure went in-and-out sometimes You can hear others talking and door slamming outside your room.
So, the place was relatively nice, me and my girlfriend didn't check in until late , so we didn't get to see the pool or hot tub facilities, every employee we interacted with was very kind and courteous, the issues we had we're dealing with water pressure, the hot didn't work on anything more than a trickle, and when we attempted to run a bath it was coming out both the spicket and shower head. The wifi worked fine with lots of buffering on Netflix and streaming services, I only paid 50 dollars for a night, so my issues are not that big of a deal in comparison to price, but I figured I'd divulge the information to others.
What hotel in this day doesn't have an iron/ironing board in the room; not even a blow dryers. Restaurant on premises shut down and staff didn't even have a wine key to open a bottle of wine we had to buy across the street. Just sloppy
it was comfortable and clean and the ocean and beach is right across the street and down a block. it was nice.
this is no where near the boardwalk, so if you want to walk the boardwalk, you will want something closer, but you can drive to the boardwalk.
Everything was good pool hot tub staff cleaning people
No smoking rooms
The Cali King bed, the large room and decent size bathroom. Peaky's roof top restaurant on the 8th floor. Very convenient to public transportation, the northside O.C. beach, and other mini golf and restaurant venues. Overall The Fenwick is not over run with kids, making it an excellent choice for adults looking for less touristy boardwalk bs and more space, peace and quite. Adequate on site parking.
The outside of room windows are so filthy, that it obscures ones vision and at times even the sun. Water pressure leaves a little to be desired. The breakfast is great at Peaky's rooftop restaurant located on the 8th floor of the Fenwick! But somebody needs to run a vacuum up there occasionally. "Some" members of the front desk staff only smile or speak when spoken too. So don't look for voluntary directions, advice, etc. should it be needed, cause you won't be asked.
Price, resteraunt, room size.
Cloudy pool. Poor repairs visible. Needs updated.
Quite a few of the reviews left me expecting a trashcan fire, this was not the case. It had last minute availability, so I booked it. Older beach hotel, clean, but loud lobby; attentive and busy staff. I checked in a few minutes early and the process took under 5 minutes. Plenty of parking, room was clean, elevators are quick. Not a resort, but a place to sleep and shower when going to an from the beach
Room was showing its age a bit, not great water pressure in the shower, but the water was hot. The lobby has some minor cracks in the plaster ceiling, but it didn't affect my stay
The staff was friendly and accommodated us nicely- the first room we went into smelled of smoke, but after calling the front desk about it, they gave us another room right away that was smoke-free. I like that the hotel has a pool and a restaurant inside, although my friends and I didn't use either.
There's no free breakfast. The location of the hotel is good for the beach (only a couple of intersections away), but my friends and I were misled that this hotel was near Seacrets, and it's at least a couple of miles from there! This hotel is also nowhere close to the Boardwalk- it's in the complete opposite direction. The hotel has lots of signs posted saying NO SMOKING, but the elevators smelled of smoke. My friends also thought the lobby bathroom was gross- I didn't think too badly of it, but both stalls were out of toilet paper when we were there. Overall, this hotel was definitely fine for my standards! If you're not a picky person when it comes to staying at a hotel, then you'll be fine as I was!
Perfect location for what I needed for the weekend. Great price considering it was a holiday weekend. Not a luxury hotel but it was clean, staff were friendly and location was ideal
There were issues with the water and shower to the point where 1 out of the 4 people in our room only got to take a shower with correct temperature and not having the water cut off in the middle of it. The issue got better the next day but still wasn't the best.
The proximity to the beach and the staff was friendly.
The bathroom didn't have a fan. Room looked like something out of the 1970's and smelled like it to. Check-in was late after 4:00. I would never stay there again.
