Cons: Nothing
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very good hotel with onsen though it is a small one, free beer and small bowl raman in the evening. Clean room and very delicious breakfast. Nearby restaurants and locate just opposite to the train station. Car parking charged 900 yens that was acceptable.
Cons: Nothing, may be a little pricey! Not many staff speak English and it would be better to have more staff know English in front desk.
7.5 Good
Pros: Tidy and clean room Near to train station Free supper noodle
Cons: No bathtub in room No bottle mineral water in room
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location, location, location! The room was also surprisingly big, which was nice.
Cons: There was no bathtub in the room, which is surprising in Japan. The onsen on the rooftop was nice, but it’s not really same thing. Also, the organization of the room was bizarre, with the towels hidden in black boxes under the couch. The rate was high considering that breakfast was not included.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was friendly and efficient and held our bags as we were too early for check-in. They even put it in our rooms for us.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Bath is super! Room is relatively spacious. Free ramen and beer are nice.

Pros: Great old school Japanese Onsen. Fantastic Japanese dinner and breakfast in the room - very nicely presented.

Pros: the retro style ambiance.good dinner and breakfast.very friendly and accommodating staff.a perfect place to refresh and unwind.
Cons: nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice and modern little place in this reclusive but beautiful onsen City.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: I had the townhouse, 50 meters from the actual ryokan. I was a beautiful Japanese old-style appartment with tatami mat main room and kitchen. The town is a very nice old village with wooden houses and some interesting site seeing. The owner acts a great host and drove me to the station when I checked out.
Cons: Nothing
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The location is good, surrounded with nature.. perfect for calming your mind and release your fatigue from travel around. If have time, I would like to go there again in winter
8.3 Excellent
Pros: - new and clean facilities - hot spring - there are not any famous sightseeing spot. You can spend in silence away from crowd. - if you do not have a dinner at hotel, you only have to have at a pub or take something in a small market, both of which are located near from hotel.
Cons: - Access by train. I visited by rent a car. It would take 20 min on foot from Yunozu-station. I am not sure if there is a bus from station, however it would not be frequent.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: The location in the historic Omoricho was outstanding. very little English in the township so convincing the traffic warden to let us through was a challenge.
Cons: Trying to find it - it’s quite remote.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: New and clean room
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I liked everything such as food, furniture, cleanness, staffs, etc.
Cons: The only flaw, if I need to find, was dampness.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A very comfortable hotel convenient to exploring the historic area and touring the Iwami Ginzan silver mine. The food is excellent. The staff at both the hotel and restaurant are gracious and helpful. My family and I highly recommend it.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The staff was perfectly nice. It was so great staying there!
Cons: If you didn't book dinner, you should. There's no restaurants near by at least 30min driving so I highly recommend to finish it before you arrive in another area or just book your dinner at the hotel in advance:)
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very pleasant and helpful staff and manager. We were upgraded to the annex so we can't comment on value for money. Annex was one word "gorgeous ". Traditional Japanese style house with lovely beds separated with lounge room (dining table and chairs, recliner chairs), large bathroom (deep Japanese bathtub) and toilet. It was simply joy to stay. There were all amenities you need for traveling. We wanted to have a break from long driving on the way to Izumo and booked the room at Yuzuriha which was lucky. There were plenty of things to see and we enjoyed interesting and beautiful walk.
Cons: Price would have been a challenge.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: The entrance area is very welcoming and gives a very traditional Japanese style feeling. Location next to Izumo shrine is perfect. All staff were extremely welcoming, helpful and friendly.
Cons: there was really nothing to complain about
8.8 Excellent
Pros: the location from the Takenoya Ryokan to the Izumo Taisha is really close! and many small restaurants around! the food in Izumo is a must to try! The Ryokan's service and breakfast are nice - I was surprised to see my name on the shoe rack (was really impressed of this though)
Cons: The futon is a bit thin - got my back a bit sore when i woke up in the morning. The Ryokan shall improve the futon though.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Location to Shrine, beach and lighthouse. Delicious breakfast and dinner. Good public bath. Ample carparking lots.
7.0 Good
Pros: Best location in the area, right opposite the shrine allows you to visit it during early morning hours (best time to experience the true culture before the tourists arrive)
Cons: Did not give us the Japanese Ryokan hospitality experience. Hardware is there but it’s serving nothing more than a normal hotel.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location is perfect for a stay in Izumo. Loved the taditional gardens. Our room was spacious for 3persons and had pleasant view from large window. Be aware that food places are closed by 6pm.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very good location, clean. Food top level. A bit to expensive for the hole experience.
Cons: we traveled with our 4 year old son, for which of course we did not pay anything. BUT, when we asked for a bowl of rice and Miso soup, they were each time cut from the menu of parents. a bowl of soup for the little one, nothing for dad .... We would have paid for that! Frankly in 7 trips to Japan, we have never encountered this. The Japanese are very welcoming with the kids. But here it was a lamentable experience!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Excellent dinner. Quiet and private room. Very close to Izumo Taisha. Friendly staff.
Cons: I thought the garden could benefit by some mentenance. (Not bad, but does not match the high standard I felt about the other inside area of the property.)
9.3 Excellent
Pros: It was excellent especially the beautiful food.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: this is so close to Izumo Shrine and there are little shop around here and really nice to walk around even night !! Hot spring is the best!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This must be the nicest Ryokan in Izumo Taisha. It is right next to the great Izumo Shrine and is a spectacular historic building. A modern wing has been added, but very discretely. Facilities are great and the whole place is in excellent shape. Staff are extremely friendly and try to accomodate your every wish. We first stayed in a first floor room wich was nice, but maybe not spectacular. We then upgraded to a groundfloor room which was just awesome, including spectacular sights of a private garden. The prettiest and most luxurious room on our trip so far.
Cons: Not much, and nothing to do with the Ryokan. The area around the Ryokan dies at around 5.00 pm when the tourists are gone. If you do not have a car, you need to take the local train to the JR station Izumoshi, which is a bit of a trip to find a place to have dinner and a drink. So better book dinner at the Ryokan. The information by booking.com that the Ryokan offers free bicycles is incorrect. They have none.

Pros: Good value for money, frankly it has everything u need, room is of a reasonable size and a 1min walk away from convenience store. Staff spoke really fluent English. Would stay with green rich again if I have the chance to.
Cons: The hotel parking requires additional per day payment, however for the price of the hotel stay we can't really complain!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Its closeness to the bar district on Izumo, the friendliness of the staff, even with the language barrier and the price.
Cons: Not much parking, even when it was paid for.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Room was very clean and modern, toilet was nice too. Good amenities in room and in lobby. Bed and pillows were very comfortable.
Cons: Slightly pricey but great stay made it worth it
9.5 Excellent
Pros: I’ve never stayed at a cheaper hotel! What’s more, Green Rich Izumo doesn’t feel like a business hotel, and all the necessary services are provided. Next time I travel to Southern Japan, I would check if there are any Green Rich Hotels in the area before anything else.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Good price with standard service.
Cons: The breakfast is just so so.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The wide space and the generous supply of amenities especially the face masks and yukata.
Cons: I found a spider that had made a web in the corner of the room...so maybe cleanliness was not that thorough.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great place, room and price were good for a normal hotel in Japan. Place was very clean and amenities were abundant and useful. Coin laundry was nice too. Place is 5 mins walk from a bus station that can take you to Izumo shrine and the city.
Cons: About 6 minutes walk from the station so if you have lots of luggage, gg.

6.3 Good
Pros: Staff’s attitude was really good.
Cons: The room was too small for a suburban hotel. And the rate was over priced for that manner.
7.5 Good
Pros: The location and price.
Cons: Not much. It was simply a stay to participate in a bike event next day.
7.5 Good
Pros: There is self-service laundry provided for the guests to use.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: good price, scenery around the hotel is great, you can even see ricefield through the window in your room.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The room was much bigger than expected, included a table and two chairs as well as plenty of room for our clothes. Breakfast was in a very pleasant dining room overlooking a nice small garden. Choice of Japanese and Western food. Location - a short taxi ride from the train station. There were a couple of eating places nearby.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Thanks for renting a bicycle.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Though about 2 km from the station, once I got to the hotel I was very happy with what I found. Unlike business hotels which are commonly seen near stations, this hotel had a bigger than average room, and better yet the window looked out onto an open space (back of the hotel) so I had natural light coming into the room. I could also open the window. Breakfast cost Y800 but was buffet style and tasty.
Cons: The only problem I could see is that it is some distance from Izumo Shi station. I walked for about 20 minutes. If you have heavy luggage, I would suggest taking a taxi (which would be less than 10 minutes). Hotel restaurant is good, and a family restaurant (Gust) about 5 minutes away, but if you want something else you have to walk at least 10 minutes.
6.8 Good
Pros: Free on site parking
Cons: We put up the sign for an 'eco' room clean (ie don't worry about changing the sheets) but they didn't do anything at all - didn't empty bins, replace mugs, cups, tea, toilet paper, etc Hotel is a bit run down and there's not much happening in the area - had trouble finding a place to eat dinner
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The staff were extremely helpful and went to the extra effort of assisting with travel arrangements when using local bus services. Every morning I was greeted with a smile which is the best way to start the day! Thank you.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: enjoyable to be here. Staff here all very nice. Scenery is good, especially loving the rice field around.
Cons: A bit far from the JR terminal.

Cons: Small but consistant with all other booking we made in Japan of same class hotels and next to stations.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything about this hotel! Located right next to the JR station, helpful staffs, great facilities, breakfast included, gifts for ladies (sorry men), comfortable bed and many more.
Cons: It's hard to book this hotel since it is superb and everyone is going for it.

Oshimaya Ryokan - Izumo

Shikisou - Izumo - Building
18
7.9 Good (41 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Shikisou in Izumo, you'll be within a 5-minute drive of Kojindani Ruin and Kojindani Historical Park. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Free self parking is available onsite.
7.5 Good
Pros: It was useful to have a sink in the room to supplement the shared bathroom facilities. There seemed to be plenty of toilets for the number of people on our floor. The food (kaiseki dinner and breakfast) was a real experience, giving us the opportunity to taste a wide variety of Japanese food and beautifully presented. The outdoor hot spring is very pleasant. The tatami bedroom was spacious and included a hot water 'kettle', tea and biscuits.
Cons: We found the room very hot to sleep in as we left the heating on all night. To be fair we probably could have changed the setting but as we couldn't understand the instructions we didn't dare do so. We were able to open the window though.
Twin Leaves Hotel Izumo - Izumo - Building
19
7.7 Good (895 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at TWIN LEAVES HOTEL IZUMO in Izumo, you'll be within a 10-minute drive of Izumo Taisha and Hatago Oda Onsen. Featured amenities include complimentary wired Internet access, complimentary newspapers in the lobby, and a 24-hour front desk. Self parking (subject to charges) is available onsite.
6.3 Good
Pros: The staff of the restaurant/breakfast was extremely helpful when navigating options for people with allergies. The hotel provides free luggage storage both before and after checking out, which was very convenient. The best point of this hotel is its location - right at the edge of the main station. If you don't need internet, don't watch TV, rise very early, don't need variety for breakfast, speak Japanese, want to stay by the station and have a large budget - maybe this hotel could be for you.
Cons: Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this hotel because the Wi-Fi didn’t work as advertised - in fact, it didn't work at all. When you're on expensive Japanese data plans, it's extremely important to have Wi-Fi if you're staying anywhere for longer than a day. When I got to the hotel, no information about accessing the internet was given. The common Wi-Fi that is meant to be used is open, meaning no password is required. I can only determine that a combination of having on open Wi-Fi network right next to a busy station and probably never restarting the router (which might be regularly required to fix connectivity issues) makes for a situation where guests can't access the internet. After having explained to the staff that I couldn't access their free Wi-Fi, I was given an extra dongle - which also didn't work. I have no problem accessing Wi-Fi with my Android device anywhere, just at this hotel. Also considered that Izumo is pretty rural, even cellular connectivity (DOCOMO) in this hotel is very limited, which made the Wi-Fi situation even worse. For the price, it should also be noted that it's unacceptable to be charging extra for TV. I don't use the TV much when I'm working, but I'm sure many guests do. The garbage bins in the room and bathroom were too small - to the point where not even packaging from two Seven Eleven shoppings fit. Only one of the staff spoke any English, and he only worked when I checked in. Although it would be helpful (especially when trying to solve complicated problems like the Wi-Fi problem previously mentioned), I'm used to that in Japan so it's not very shocking - it's worth noting though, if you don't speak any Japanese. The breakfast was spartan and set unusually early - not open beyond 9:30 am. For the price of this hote,l breakfast should be included. Overall, I'm extremely disappointed, cannot recommend and will probably never come back.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Hotel in the station building. Perfect.
Cons: There is nothing negative to say.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Room was really comfortable and hotel is in front of the station. Staff was kind and helpful. Highly recommend anyone wants to have comfortable stay at reasonable price
Cons: Nothing special
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, right at the train station. The room was comfortable and quite roomy by Japanese standards.
Cons: Breakfast was not included, and there wasn't even complimentary coffee served in the lobby. I paid 100yen for the worst cup of coffee I had on the whole trip - it was burnt and stale. For the price, there could have been a few more amenities.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location. It’s right next to JR Izumo-shi station.
7.5 Good
Cons: No free wifi.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location by the railway stations Average japanese business hôtel
Cons: Wifi connection was erratic-had To use the wifi in the station mall
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location
Cons: 5days same breakfast
6.8 Good
Pros: Little distance from train station. I changed hotel next day.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast very good ~ choice of English or Japanese. Location could not be better ~ very near to the Station, but quiet.
Cons: Everything satisfactory. Wished we had stayed 2 nights, to see more of the Izumo Grand Shrine, which needs a whole day.
Izumo guesthouse itoan - Izumo - Building
20
7.7 Good (294 reviews)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amaaazing guesthouse, with great flair and atmosphere. The japanese style rooms are beautiful and the vibe of the place is very inviting. Everything is very clean and welcoming with a perfect location right next to the train station. Shiho , the owner is the best!!!! I can only recommend Itoan Guesthouse for anyone stopping by in Izumo, I will be back ;)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice hostel at a walking distance from Izumo Station. If you're looking for a traditional ryokan experience this hostel is a very good choice. The owner (Shiho) is super nice and helpful, providing me with several tips on thing to see/do in the surroundings. For sure this hostel will be my first choice for my next trip to Izumo.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It's very close to the train station, room is comfortable and can easily be cooled down during summer.
Cons: The walls are pretty thin so make sure to bring ear plugs if you're a light sleeper.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything is perfect.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly, English speaking staff. Event was happening which was exciting.
Cons: Layout made it awkward and easy to disrupt other guests
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This hostel was all around amazing. The host and guests were lovely, and the site was fantastic, with a mere five-minute walk from Izumoshi Station. The rooms also had everything you would ever need, from safes to dividers places between where the guests sleep. I would highly recommend this hostel to anyone in the Izumo area, because it is not only the best hostel, but the best accommodation option available, in my opinion.
Cons: My main issue was with the bath, or lack thereof. There is a sign that prohibits the use of the bath, which I wish I knew beforehand, as I entered the shower rooms past 11. There is, however, an Onsen at a five-minute walking distance, which wouldn’t be an issue for most. Other than that, this place is spectacular.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Shiho is incredible. What a treat it was to get to spend time with her. The guest room is great and perfect if you are looking for a true tradition Japanese style accommodate.
Cons: I loved everything about my stay.
6.3 Good
Pros: Futons were comfortable and it was good staying in a different kind of hostel. The staff were nice and the place generally had a friendly atmosphere.
Cons: Only one shower in the building. Also, although there was one entirely empty tatami room, I was still placed into a room with another guest, who had gone to sleep with the heating on very high. It felt a bit like an avoidable bad night's sleep.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The place is very close to the train station, down an alley. The room is quite spacious and the futon is comfortable. We went during a working week, so there weren't many guests which meant we had the amenities for ourselves.
Cons: There's a small tax for a towel, so it's better to bring your own. There were no tissues and bin in the room.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Excellent Hostel and host!!! Great location!! Great value! I would definitely stay here again.
Cons: Nothing to complain abt.
