Pros: The location was beautiful and the host has exceeded any expectation regarding hospitality Mugurel took care of everything from breakfast to dinner , from coffee to tuica, first night he made a campfire by the creek and the day after we had a barbeque. We made friends with other travelers and had a really good time. Would totally recommend .
Pros: The host, Constantin, is amazing. He makes you feel right at home, and kept a steady supply of welcome drinks coming, cooked dinner and breakfast for us and refused payment. In an area full of kitschy, dracula-themed tourist traps, this was a homey standout.

Pros: Nothing (only tha lave cake)
Cons: 1.) Bad smell in the rooms 2.) Location (hotel is surrounded with electric pylons, and dusty roads, parking lot) 3.) Big party in the restaurant, very noisy night 4.) We had to wait 2 and a half hours in the restaurant for the whole dinner 5.) We were going to stay 2 nights but then we stayed only one because of the previous things, and they didn’t pay back the money. 6. There was an unacceptably big difference between the photos on the internet and the reality. 7. Avoid!
Pros: The hotel was very nice. It's situated beside a river and had a nice view. The room was large and comfortable with a balcony overlooking the surrounding hills. The restaurant had outdoor seating and it was very quaint with good food. It also had a little shop with fresh baked bread.
Cons: The photos are slightly deceiving as the area surrounding the hotel is typical for Romania, meaning lots of trash scattered on the ground and it was also close to a highway. From the photos it seems that it's entirely surrounded by nature but it simply isn't the case.
Pros: We absolutely loved this place. Check in/out was easy and staff were friendly. The room was big, bright, clean and great view. On site restaurant was fantastic for dinner and breakfast. Delicious food, good portions and prices Absolutely would recommend and stay there again. Perfect spot to start transfagarasan road.
Pros: Definitely a wonderful budget hotel that looked a little bit like a college dormitory room, very spartan but clean and quiet. The restaurant one floor below us was excellent, but the one thing to remember in all of the small Romanian villages is that you’re often on a third floor room and you need to cart your luggage up a set of stairs that is often very narrow. The town seems safe in the grocery shop downstairs had plenty of produce and some excellent fresh bread - we would definitely visit here again and stay at this B&B!
Cons: Nearby, it was a bit disappointing that Poenari castle ruins was closed, now over a year in length since I’ve been in contact with the municipality, because there is a concern about Romanian bears hovering in the forests on route to the castle – it’s still a wonderful sight from the roadway, and the beginning of the Transfăgărășan highway is pretty impressive – if you’re not going to drive the highway all the way up, definitely stop at the restaurant hotel at the lake near the beginning of the actual highway segment!
Pros: Ok place for take a rest if you're going to drive through Transfagarash
Cons: Noise from the restaurant was pretty annoying, they closed at 11PM, but if you need to have a rest earlier - it could be a problem. What was really bad - the outside lighting that was targeted exactly to the room window and the curtain wasn't dense enough to cover it. It seems that lighting using to catch attention and invite the customers from the road, but the owner have to find another way. There was no curtain at the shower, so all the water was on the floor.
Pros: Location, cleanliness, friendly staff. The breakfast was adequate
Cons: No accessible electric points in the room, they were behind the bed headboard which was fastened to the wall. Two pillows each would have been better.
Pros: They received us even if we got there really late. We appreciate that. They also had breakfast for 10 Ron, really good price. I asked them to receive honey instead of jam, and they made sure that I will have the honey on my table.
Pros: Perfect place to rest after going down from Transfogarian road. Owners are very friendly and helpful. You can eat filling dinner after a long day and good breakfast before next one. And the prices are really nice.
Cons: You can pay only with cash and ATM is 9km from the place, so prepare to have some RONs with you :)
Pros: Clean, cozy, accessible. Food menu with several options available, reasonable prices. Awesome breakfast with two options (one for 10 lei, the other for 15 lei). Nice people :)
Cons: n/a, all good
Pros: It is the best place to stay before and after the transfagarasan, it is possibile to park your car inside the private garden. Pastrami meat Was very tasty and cheap!
Cons: The staff Was wonderful and ready to help you in everything, but please Try to learn a little more english!!!
Pros: Restaurant food was good if a bit pricey. Good choice at breakfast.
Cons: Rooms are a bit old and tired.
Pros: The location is the only good thing about this hotel as we wanted to visit Poenari Castle and Lake Vidraru, nothing else.
Cons: No value for money, dont let all the photos fool you, we had cheaper accommodation in Romania by more then 50% and it was 200% better.
Pros: Very kind staffs and not bad hotel restaurant.
Pros: Check in was easy and quick, room was comfortable and nicely themed in red. Room had a balcony which was nice the next morning. Hotel had a car park so parking was easy. The main reason for staying was that I wanted to drive the Transfagarasan Highway the day after and this hotel has an excellent location if you want to try and drive the road in one day. It has an excellent starting point just a couple of minutes drive from Poenari Castle, about 20 minutes from Vidraru Lake and Dam, and then after that you can press on to the best part of the road up in the Carpathian Mountains. I stayed the night before the last day of the year the road was open so it was very quiet and there were not many other guests in the hotel.
Cons: Shower was quite old and the base made cracking noises every time I moved. The breakfast was plentiful and looked great but I'm not a very adventurous eater so would have preferred something more basic like cereals and fruit.
Pros: This hotel was easy to find and the staff were all very nice, especially the people in the restaurant. The spa area would have been nice if we got there earlier. The dinner was affordable and delicious. The breakfast was incredible and so many great things to choose from. I loved the traditional dishes they served and the staff were so nice to explain them to us. The room was nicely decorated with a really neat swan towel decoration. I loved the wooden walls and the antique replica furniture. There was a well stocked mini fridge in our room, but we had to plug it in. There were electric outlets, small lamps, and tables on each side of the bed. The heater works quickly and the bathroom was OK. This hotel is in a beautiful location very close to Poenari Fortress and Vidraru Lake.
Cons: The hot tubs close at 8 unfortunately and we got down off the Transfagarasan road at 7:30 so we weren't able to relax in the spa area. They should keep this area open until 10 like most other hotels. The bed was uncomfortable and I could feel the springs in the mattress, but the blankets and pillows were clean and comfortable.

Several hiking and cycling trails start directly on the premises. Domneasca Church, the Curtea de Arges Monastery and the next train station are reachable within 10 minutes by car.
Pros: It was easy to find. The guy who checked us in and out was very nice and spoke English which is a rare thing in Romania. The apartment was big and spacious.
Cons: It would have been great to have a hairdryer and a kettle to make tea or coffee.
Pros: Great staff and friendly welcome after a long drive. The balcony and view was a pleasant surprise and the rooms were clean and comfortable.
Cons: There was nothing we didn't like, the room furniture could do with a little updating and the fact that another room could look out of their bathroom window onto our balcony or vice versa was a little unusual but it was good value for money and the food was decent.
Pros: Everything was gr8
Pros: The room was really clean and the location is good, very close too Transfagarasan road, but in the morning it was cold, maybe during weekends it is warm because they make more fire.
Pros: It was perfect!
