Great rooms; comfortable; staff very helpful. Restauran wasn't open.
Design, pool area, Nothing
Night desk staff was excellent. Mishaps with housekeeping.
Overall good trip - beds very comfortable. Friendly staff. Breakfast was good. Shower was updated. Limited tv and assistance from customer service reps. They were nice just not knowledgeable. Maid service was incomplete as they left what we assumed were beach towels hanging instead of replacing. Left mismatched and not complete towel sets. Poor bathroom cleaning.
Great rates for a nice, comfortable and spacious room. Clean and neat facilities (i.e. swimming pool, gym and etc). Yes .. it's not on the beach ....I get that and I knew that before booking, but it's literally only 5 mins from Casey Key beach. I rather pay one forth of the price, be able to not have a minimum stay, and get more comfort than be right on the beach in these so called "resorts" . Besides, it was 15 mns North of Venice beach and 15mins south of Siesta Key. Perfect location in my opinion, if you plan on visiting other beaches during your stay. Also, this place offers Live music on the weekends right by the pool bar (which respectfully ends at 9:30pm) . Nothing nicer than just chill and relax by the pool after a busy and hot beach day...and few steps from your room. If you get the breakfast package, be careful. Make sure you go early (7:30-8:30am) otherwise you'll be waiting for at least an hour. The way it works with the brkfst package; you get vouchers for 1 entree and a drink inside the restaurant. Well, we went on a holiday weekend, and everyone and their mothers had vouchers too...beside it's a regular restaurant that outsiders can come in as well. Needless to say, there were not enough tables to accommodate everyone and only 2 servers on the floor to attend 50 something seats. There was no organization to form a waiting list or line (seemed like the hostess became the busboy), so people were walking around looking to see who was about to be finished, making it very uncomfortable for those who were eating, almost like people in cars trying to find a parking spot and asking other if they are leaving. Hotel staff could've been more proactive and have a more prepared staff. We skipped breakfast at the hotel on the second day.
location on highway room was horribly located.....ice and vending right outside room, entrance from parking lot right outside door, maid station service area right outside room, stairway to second floor and other guests going up and coming down loudly on uncarpeted stairs right outside door, toilet flushing in room above and could hear this all night and early in morning....all this after requesting a quiet room. front desk would not move us as they said they were sold out, only to find out from other guests that they were indeed not and could have relocated us in front of later day arriving guests.. staff did not know how to replenish room of bathroom necessities, ie. toilet paper, hand soap, bath soap, shampoo. had to go to the front desk and they did not have proper substitutes and was given a commercial role of toilet paper the size of a small wheel, but was better than nothing
An addition of a hot tub would be nice
Here is something noone wrote in any of the reviews: Virage is located directly behind the Bentley Boutique hotel, and is run by the same people. I found it hilarious that Bentley's was more expensive, yet Virage uses all the same facilities. Room was clean, large and well done. The bathroom was a bit odd, as the sink was huge yet the faucet was only a inch away from the back wall. One - Bentley's charges your card in ADVANCE for any incidentals that you may charge. They don't inform you of this either. Its been 3 days and I still have the pending charge. Two- There were little things missing - None of the rooms have microwaves. there was no space to really put any shower supplies in the bathroom. Three - The staff, while nice, had this air of...I dont know, snarkyness? It was almost like they couldnt believe they had to deal with us at check in / check out. Four- There isn't a large sign on the road that lets you know where its located. There was a small white (maybe 2'x2' sign) that says "hotel", and thats it. If it wasnt for our GPS, we would have missed it.
The units are equipped with kitchens which is really nice. It means that we could make our meals in our room and spend more time on the amazing beach. The staff sets up chairs for guest use too. The pool is pretty small and the water was too warm. But because our visit was in July, we just spent our time on the beach instead.
I like everything about the place except for the situation with the A/C. Even though the A/C blew cold, it was sooooo loud that I couldn't sleep and had to turn it off. It's sounded like three different fans kicked in and it got louder and louder. Also I would suggest that the side that there are chairs in the grass, they should put them on a patio like area just like the other side.
