Giffnock Rooms - Giffnock - Building

9.5 Excellent (117 reviews)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beds were very comfortable my kids didnt want to get up if there was optional later check out we would of took it.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Quiet room even though on a Main rd. Easy access to Glasgow and the suburbs. Close to a yummy ice cream shop.
Cons: Stayed 2 nights, so a bit surprised to not have the room serviced. Meant we had 2 lots of breakfast dishes sitting on the small table. Quite hard to fill the jug for making a cuppa. So not huge negatives, just a couple of suggestions.
7.0 Good
Pros: We were impressed with the location as this met our needs. The bedroom was spacious with plenty of storage. The bathroom was also spacious, clean, modern and nicely decorated. The hostess, Sally, was friendly, welcoming and very helpful. We liked the look and feel of the property. It was a mix of tradition and contemporary. There was also parking facilities at the front of the house. From the property we had easy access to the local train station.
Cons: We were made aware of the shared bathroom arrangements when booking, however we found this a little inconvenient having to share with other guests and having to walk along the communal corridor to get to the bathroom. This meant having less privacy during our stay. We also felt that the mattress could have been firmer and more comfortable. We would have expected a smart TV in the bedroom for our convenience. As this was advertised as a double bedroom we would have expected a second bedside table. In relation to the provision of breakfast, we understood this to be a bed and breakfast accommodation, however what was not made explicitly clear is that this would be a continental breakfast and not a cooked breakfast. We would have preferred to have known about this on the website prior to booking. We were also disappointed in not having a dining room to have our breakfast. Instead, we had to fill up the kettle with water from the bathroom and eat in our room which was not acceptable. There was also a lack of basic facilities like a toaster.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Close venue for family event
Cons: Our bedroom was beautiful but wasn’t en suite which I was aware of. The bathroom was gorgeous though and it wasn’t a problem.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: It was very convenient and Sally was very helpful
9.5 Excellent
Pros: We really enjoyed our stay. Family very friendly and hospitable. Room comfortable and clean . Location very good if you want to be in that area. For town it is a 15-20 minute drive.Good transportation. Plenty of shops, resaurants, cafes and bars nearby. Strongly recommended. Very good for families or couples.
Cons: Ensuite bathroom a bit small but functional and satisfactory.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely well furnished room. Very comfortable.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location. Close to bus and trains for the city centre. Food shops and restaurants just across the road. Very comfortable bed. It was lovely to be able to have fruit, cereal and yoghurt for breakfast at no extra cost.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Pauline and Crawford went above and beyond to make us welcome and took an interest in making sure we had the best time. B&B is beautiful with lovely views of the hills. We stayed as were attending a wedding nearby, it's the perfect location though if you were doing whisky/walking tours for example. Room was great, bed very comfortable and it was all spotless. Breakfast was an absolute treat, lots of it all homemade, freshly cut fruit salad and a full cooked breakfast which was spot on and very tasty!!! Thank you for a great stay! :-)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed with Pauline and Crawford in their lovely and comfortable home for two nights. We really loved everything and both are perfect hosts. The breakfast and the hiking tips were both awesome too. Would definitely stay there again!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Poppy is a beautiful, caring, loving, dedicated soul who only wants you you have a magnificent stay. From the luxury bathroom with thick towels and luxury products, towel warmer to make-up mirror to the exceptional cooked breakfast with a selection that would shame a five star hotel! The comfortable king bed was made with luxury linens and the kitchenette was equipped with a gastronomic selection of coffee, tea, cookies and a tiny fridge. But that’s not all, since Poppy was a nurse (born on poppy-day) she took great care of my sick husband with hot teas and lem-sip. Departing with heartfelt-hugs and exchanged numbers, it’s hard to believe this this elegant and rare-breed hostess birthed 7 children!
Cons: We didn’t like the fact that this B&B is not listed on Airbnb since Poppy embraces The Airbnb Belo which ensures every guests, anywhere in the world, fools like they BELONG!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Liked everything. The location and standard of the accommodation. The breakfast was first class. The overall friendliness of the hosts could not be bettered. They were fantastic in everything and went above and beyond the call of duty just to make sure our stay with them was as good s it could be. Brilliant.
Cons: Nothing......there wasn't anything we didn't like

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good comfortable bed and the best breakfast ever as well as really good afternoon cake. All home baked and very delicious.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The apartments were fantastic. They were very clean, comfortable and modern inside - all set within a beautiful old Paisley building. The location was superb with the train station only a short walk away (and the airport close by too). All three of us staying there felt at home the moment we entered the building such was the ambiance of the apartments and we will definitely try and book them again when we’re next up in Paisley.
Cons: Nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Linin smelt lovely and nice touches and perfect location for us. The ice cube tray was an added bonus for my gin
Cons: Having to come home as was just getting our bearings
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The host met us to hand over the keys to the apartment and showed us round. The apartment was very clean, modern and spacious. It has everything you need for a short stay and more. Sky TV was a lovely little unanticipated extra. The location was ideal for local facilities. Thoroughly recommend this accommodation.
Cons: There wasn't anything not to like about this accommodation. It was that good that I would have cancelled a hotel I have booked next week if ti wasn't non-refundable as I would prefer to stay here and will stay here again.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Clean and host & hostess very helpful and friendly. Tastefully decorated and very quiet
Cons: No recycling
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, clean and tidy - had everything we needed for a short family stay at a great price. Beds were so comfy and the property was light and airy. Hamid was lovely and quick to communicate!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Hamid was so friendly and helpful. The property was spotlessly clean and very central. We were very comfortable there. The apartment was very spacious and well decorated. We will definitely stay again.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: hamid is an excellent host, and house is very comfortable, clean and with a great location in paisley centre. area is quiet but with many services around. Only a few minutes walking bring to train and bus station with constant communication with glasgow, airports, etc.
Cons: bathroom lack of some elements. needs more hangers for towels, more light and place to plug electric devices. Also visitors have to take note that apartment is a third floor with no lifter. Not a problem for us but could be a concern for elder or handicapped people.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing flat, very clean and tidy, high standard of furniture. Nice a warm. Very nice place, definitely going to be back next time I'm down working. Don't think you'd find better TBH.
Cons: I've been thinking a while... Nothing.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: It very near my university campus and it just a walking 2-3 min away if you coming here to attend graduation ceremony with family . The apartment is just nice for family 3-4 ppl . There have kitchen facilities which allow you to cook . Nice & clean apartment place overall . Very near to Glasglow airport which is 10min away which you can ask the host to arrange for you as there no uber here in paisley . Highly recommended for group of friends and family to stay . It also about 10min walk to the nearest train station .
Cons: Most of the apartment here has no lift and if you have big heavy luggage it could be an issue.either than that no other issue.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great location with excellent local cafes and town walks nearby, just a few minutes to rail station; buses and full range of shops mostly through pedestrian zones. Friendly and helpful host available from small shop around corner where small homemade meals available to take back to flat. Very comfortable and clean beds and bedding, plenty storage and space and easy to use - warm flat even in cold weather. Recommend Alan's cafe for both take away and sit-inhttps://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurant_Review-g186570-d3678873-Reviews-Allan_s_Snack_Bar-Paisley_Renfrewshire_Scotland.html Frequent trains to Glasgow for concerts, 8-10 minutes right into centre and cheap tickets.
Cons: Would have been nice with some smaller cups and glasses and dish washer, also easier to clean cutlery. Parking in the street a bit inconsistent but alternatives nearby. Stairs may not suits all. We didn't like that paisley is not appreciated more, it was like going back in time in the BEST of ways. Litter in street and around flat entrance unfortunately a general problem in Scotland.

Pros: Nothing, the staff in the restaurant and bar were lovely but that’s about it
Cons: The Room wasn’t up to standard for the amount of money we paid.was very basic.the toilet had no toilet roll put in after the cleaner had been.there was an all night party going on in one of the rooms beside ours that kept us up.the breakfast bar door was banging every two minutes from 7am till 11am .that needs fixed with a proper door stopper.it was a joke.the hairdryer wasn’t working and when asked for a new one we waited 45 mins for the maintenance to come to then be told they were off site and only then teceptiontried to hand in a proper one.the food in the restaurant on Sunday night as in the roast was a joke, angle Monday night was even worse had to send it back twice
6.0 Good
Pros: The views and the restaurant were really nice
Cons: We had to call the front office multiple times to get a travel cot for our toddler and when it finally arrived there were no sheets and it was broken. Also we had a member of staff that spent a good portion of our time at the lodge in our back deck area fixing the hot tub we weren't allowed to use even though it was included in the booking.com booking.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful Georgian house set back in a quiet road. Original features but modern facilities. Felt like I was at home. The staff were as gracious as the building and I feel the hotel is underrated. The rooms are well appointed and I loved the walk in shower room.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: The ambience of the building and the friendliness of staff. Our room was extremely clean and finally nice pillows.
Cons: The King bed was two singles pushed together. I realise this is common practice, however the two beds were not the same height. We still slept, it was just a little annoying.

Cons: Sadly, the chef was ill and we were obliged to eat out.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautifully restored
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is in walking distance to a lot of great attractions in Paisley (unfortunately closed at the time we were there). The hotel itself is a beautiful old building that’s clearly full of history. Our room was clean and comfortable. All the staff were very accommodating and Maureen (I hope I got that right!) was extremely helpful in assisting my mother with finding locations relating to our ancestors.
Cons: Would have liked ironing facilities in the room, however it wasn’t essential to us so we didn’t enquire.
7.1 Good
Pros: Very nice lady checked us in. Common rooms were pretty and very Scottish in decor. Room had a couch that was a nice touch.
Cons: The bathroom was very small. That I can deal with. But the faucets were not attached to the sink well and kept turning around. The hot water was running and filling up the sink. Finally got the water to turn off. The shower head dripped all the time but it just flowed down the drain. It appeared that the sink had tried to be repaired.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Rooms were spacious and the staff was fantastic.

The staff were lovely and welcoming, we wished we could have stayed longer! The location was ideal for us as we were traveling with a car. This is a truly unique property and the owners maintain it so well - highly recommend!
Cons: Only that we had only night to spend here! Just a note, as others mentioned, you do have to be able to climb a spiral staircase to your room - but the proprietor will carry your bags for you! Also we were traveling with a car so can’t comment on taxi costs to city/airport, etc.

Pros: I liked the staff and hotel
Cons: I didn’t like the fact me and my partner went to this hotel for our 4th year anniversary and we booked into dinner 8;45 and when we to hotel room for a shower to get ready for dinner the hotel had no water running, so we had to go to dinner without a shower or even brushing our teeth, felt really uncomfortable, and by time we went back to room after dinner to get shower we felt that let down we just stayed in.

Pros: the breakfast was very nice. the room was lovely. we booked the bedroom with spa bath. very clean bathroom. it also has free sauna swimming pool. ect. very we also paid for the dinner i with the booking. very nice. also have excellent service the waiter who served us. A very nice man. rushed off his feet. well done to him and hid multi-tasking skills.
Cons: the room was lovely. a bit stuffy as it was a warm night. and even with windows open we both did not sleep well. we where waken most of night with heat. we gave up at 5.20 am and made a cuppa and watched tv . I had planned this from last year as a treat to celebrate me and my husband 31 years wedding anniversary. so when i booked half board. i thought evening meal was included not so . it look like only the fish supper each was in the price. so i was out of pocket nearly £30.00. i also booked the room for the bath as i have brittle bones and the spa bath helps with pain. but plug would close properly. very poor after my previous stay.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The evening meal and the fitness facilities. the rooms were very comfortable. If it was a hot temperature outside you would have problems.
Cons: That we had only a £15 allowance each for our evening meal. On our booking it stated that our evening meal was included in the room price.

3.8 Mediocre
Cons: we booked 2 rooms and they were across the hall from each other My parents room had Air con and lovely glass screen for the shower. On the other side in our room the Air con wasn't working we contacted the staff over 6 times even asked to be supplied with a fan as it was so so warm! The bathroom was in bad need off a makeover in our room an old shower curtain and the shower head fell off the stand and left the place soaking! We had stayed in this hotel on numerous occasions before but its standards have dropped and Staff not as helpful or friendly. On check in day we were greeted by the most unpleasant fella behind the counter. Will not be in a rush back that's for sure!!!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very nice, clean facilities, nice rooms and is situated right on the River Clyde - nice for strolls along the river.
Cons: Advertised as having an airport shuttle since the facility is near the airport. They in fact only have a part time shuttle, which operates only when they have sufficient staff. The shuttle never operates on Sundays, and on other days, depends on whether or not they have a third person at the front desk.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The room was lovely and spacious. The pool was great to relax after a busy day, even had it to myself!

6.3 Good
Cons: Before finalising the booking for a weekend work trip, I checked with the host if it would be ok to arrive close to last check-in (22:00hrs) then leave by 7am latest. He replied to my email but gave no warning that the Inn was holding a football night, followed by an amplified band starting at 11:30 pm. The noise of crowds, shouting and music came right into the room from the bar. I and my colleague were delivering a 72 hour outdoor training assessment locally and just needed a quiet place to sleep. We trusted it would be over by midnight. The music finished just before 1am and we were alarmed for another hour by the drunken crowds outside shouting as they were thrown out, just outside our window, including one man trying to break up violence of some sort, threats and fighting over taxis, and later a man loudly threatening to rape a woman. As soon as the last customers had been taken away the staff below our room started moving heavy furniture around and scraping the floors. We hardly slept after that as it was so upsetting. I would have gone somewhere more suitable if I'd known what it was like on a Saturday. as it was not cheap.

Pros: The staff were very welcoming and tried to help with fans etc.
Cons: We were put in a very small room for a family of 4 with two boys of 10 & 12 with a set temperature of 29 degrees that we could not change and ended up asking for 2 fans. The beds were all put together with no space in between for anyone to get out except by crawling down the bed or off one side of the double bed. Only 1 coffee sachet and 2 milks. Only 1 iron for whole hotel.

Pros: Good hotel, good location, clean tidy, nothing not to like.
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: Glorified cupboard On arrival at hotel yesterday, I asked at check in desk if another bed had been put in room as requested the previous by email. I was told that they had received my email, but had been replying to emails just before I sent request. The young boy at desk stated he was on previous night and did not see any messages. I asked if we could get bigger room, he replied that the hotel was fully booked for the night. I again asked about extra bed and he said he would need to speak to maintenance. We proceeded up to room 112, which was extremely small for a double. I then went down stairs to ask that if bedside table taken out could bed be put in, he said he would see what he could do. Once down at wedding, my friend went to desk to ask if anything had been sorted, and said we cant put extra bed in room, we asked for extra bedding to sleep on floor and said no way can we have 3 sleep in that room, he then said did we want to speak to Manager, friends replied yes. Manager came through to bar, again friends repeated what we had asked previously and he said ‘I can assure you 3 ppl will not be sleeping in that room tonight. He was very dismissive when my friend asked what we were supposed to do. He replied that we had emailed booking.com, and if didnt reply that meant we did not have any rooms available, I stated well in that should you not have let us know. I told him that I had emailed hotel direct on Sunday as I had been emailing regarding late check out, then said Show Me in a very abrupt rude manner. I showed emails sent on Sun with times etc, he then said leave it with me and we never saw him again. At this point the friend who extra bed was for was getting anxious because we live in Dunoon and not enough time to get to last boat in time to get home. Staff very dismissive of our prediciment and did not offer any reassurance or apology at anytime

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very pleasant staff comfortable room good value
Cons: Nothing
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: Rooms were clean.
Cons: For both nights I stayed there were loud parties going on until 2am. The room was pounding with music like I had a stereo next to my bed. On the second night I attempted to get some fresh air and was subject to verbal abuse by party goers, not to mention subjected to a view of a fifty year old man with his trousers and pants down. I was staying to attend a course for which I needed to pass exams and my attention span was seriously compromised by the worst nights sleep I've had in years. In addition to this, the room was like a sauna and I had to keep the window open, this meant that in addition to the awful disco music,I was also subject to the constant whirring of fans, presumably from refrigerator units which were right under my window. The hotel should decide if they want to be in the hospitality business or become a nightclub. I also missed my breakfast on both mornings because they don't serve until 8:30. Worst hotel I've stayed in,worst night's sleep ever, not what you expect for £80 per night.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff. Really enjoyed the cooked full breakfast. Good facilities including on site parking, hairdryer, desk etc.
Cons: Sound proofing was poor as I was woken up by the sound of TV coming from the adjacent room. The bed could be more comfortable.
7.0 Good
Pros: The breakfast was great
9.3 Excellent
Pros: If you're looking for a clean, comfortable bed, en suite facilities, and an excellent breakfast, at a great price, then this is for you. Staff were friendly and helpful. Nice size tv in the room and coffee making facilities with biscuits
Cons: No rooms on ground floor and no lift, so not disabled friendly. The room itself was suitable for a disabled person, with a walk in shower.

7.5 Good
Pros: Easy to find and plenty of parking
Cons: Noisy generator running all night just outside Had to close the window. No air con or ventilation so room was stuffy but there was a small fan supplied. Pub downstairs was ok but very sterile and no character or atmosphere.
