With a stay at Hakuna Lodge in Mar Lodj, you'll be on the beach, and 15.4 mi (24.7 km) from Samba Dia Forest and 18.3 mi (29.5 km) from Joal Forest. Featured amenities include a 24-hour front desk, multilingual staff, and luggage storage. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours).
Pros: We found the location to be especially enjoyable. We had to take a boat, then a long horse-and-cart ride, to reach the lodge. That was absolutely part of the charm. Each unit was a separate round hut-- very charming. We enjoyed eating together at a long table with the other guests. The food was consistently excellent.
Cons: The shower delivered a mere trickle of cold water. We have no problem with this, in fact -- it was charming. However, it feels like the price should be commensurate. Other similar-priced resorts in Senegal had many more creature-comforts.
Pros: Workers were very kind.
Cons: There were bugs in my bed.
Pros: As long as you are in a traveller spirit, not a comfy tourist one, Hakuna is one pearl of a place. Let Dominique and Solange take care of you for a few days at the communal table, with drinks and extra interesting excursions. Enjoy the fantastic staff's smiles and bright, unique surroundings. Amenities are basic, yet much more enjoyable than any cinder-block hotel's any where in the world, Africa included. If you can put up with lukewarm (as opposed to hot) water for your shower, no TV and wifi for just two hours a day: rush, go stay at this very special place; you won't regret it!
Cons: All was up to our expectations.
Pros: Really nice staff. Really good food, lunch and dinner were amazing. Nice additional things to do like canoeing.
Pros: Hakuna is so great. The staff are very helpful and kind. It was easy to get to and leave the car at the Hakuna jetty, they arranged a boat to transport us to Hakuna and settling in was so simple. The food was good and so great sharing the tables to eat with other guests. The location is exquisite and the quiet of Hakuna is special. I really did not want to leave. It is definitely a great spot to slow down and rest in among the nature.
Cons: I didn't like that I had to leave.
Pros: Solange and Dominique created a wonderful ambiance and the food was absolutely delicious!
Cons: Hot water in the bandas would be a real asset
When you stay at Lodge des Collines de Niassam in Palmarin, you'll be 14 minutes by foot from Salt Evaportation Pools. Featured amenities include multilingual staff, luggage storage, and laundry facilities. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours), and free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Everything: location in middle of nature, variety of rooms, food, staff...
Cons: Nothing this is a wonderful place
Pros: This was my second stay at Les Collines De Niassam. The staff were friendly and go the extra mile to help ensure an excellent visit. The food was excellent.
Cons: The day that I departed. I would have liked to stay longer.
Pros: The view from the treehouse lodge was amazing. Loved the lodges down on the lagoon as well. The plankton in the water would illuminate when disturbed at night, pretty spectacular. Owner was very nice as well, and the staff was super helpful. They even bring you breakfast to eat on your porch every morning.
Cons: Palmarin is very remote with little to do in surrounding areas. This is only a negative if you arnt looking to hang out at the lodge and explore on the beach.
Pros: The whole hotel had a fabulous location. You can forget about your troubles there.
Cons: Our room was very dark and it didn't have any view. I think the price is over expensive for what we had. To pay 250 Euros per night for a small bed, dark and wet room, no place to sit, no warm water (they brought us warm water in a bucket in the morning), no real shower, one electrical plug, one menu (no choices for vegetarian), i think it is too much.
Pros: The location, the view, Djiffer fish market.
Cons: The breakfast. Absolute minimum, not right for this price.
Pros: Peaceful and fabulous scenery. Staff very friendly and attentive to your needs and wishes.
Cons: The food at the restaurant could be more Senegalese or a fusion between Western and African recipes.
Pros: Amazing property. If looking for some peace and quiet, this is definitely the place. Plus the food is really good, from entree to dessert.
Pros: Everything was perfect but we liked very much their rums with different local flavors
Pros: I stayed in treehouse nr. One and I had the best views of the islands and the lagoon. I could see the local life happen from my hammock. The room was gorgeous and very comfortable and the food was exeptionally delicious. Very warm and friendly staff too! The experience was definitely worth the money!
Cons: I absolutely loved everything!

Pros: The Staff is really nice, especially Awa Mbodj
Pros: Very kind and helpful staff
Cons: Facilities would need refreshing: windows and doors not airtight (very noisy as it was super windy), bathroom door hardly closed, toilet cover couldn’t stay open, no hot water, etc. Beach incredibly dirty
Pros: The place is beautiful, rooms are well decorated and the view is magical. We went for a quiet girls week-end and it was perfect with the pool and the well equiped kitchen where we were able to cook amazing food. Breakfast was prepared at 9am and was very good.
Cons: Awa, the cleaning lady was rude to us. She wasn't happy because we arrived at the villa at 17h15 (the reservation says we had to arrive between 16h00 and 20h00). She told us that she had been waiting for us all day and that she had to work overtime as she was supposed to finish work at 15h00. Then the next day she told us we could leave at 12h00, but at 10h00 she was already in the house, cleaning everything for the next customers, moving our stuff around, stripping bed sheets from the room while one of us was still in the shower..... It made it impossible to enjoy our morning quietly which I think is a shame considering the price we paid for the whole villa. I just recommend talking to the owner himself and make sure that you settle the arrival and departure times in advance to avoid this situation.
Pros: great location , at the beach quiet surroundings nice big room
Cons: - had to have a 10 minutes discussion about the price as owner did not know his own prices - the room was above the communal area but was open , nothing to shield you from the noise downstairs - food was poor - should have better maintenance (this is the case for most of Senegal) - internet virtually absent, comes and goes
Pros: The location was just perfect. And having option of the pool and beach and someone to cook your meals. Absolutely wonderful
Cons: The mosquito nets coukd be longer

This hotel has facilities measuring 50 square feet (5 square meters), including a meeting room. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available on request), and free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: The hotel surroundings are really amazing. You can watch the birds and it is really quiete. It is a short walk to the mayor street of the village, where there are some restaurants and cafes. We did a great tour to the birds island. Breakfast is good, diner is tasty, we only did it once. The rooms are clean and spacious.
Cons: The music during diner time is not adapted to the atmosphere and surroundings. We liked the music, but it was more for a rock party, not for a diner with two under a sky full of stars.
Cons: The hotel has seen better times. The location is not so spectacular as that of other hotels in the area, the rooms are quite old, the restaurant is nothing special... but the price is quite expensive as compared to the many other options in the area.
Pros: Nice pool areas, staff eager to please, evening meal nice, a trip was arranged for us shortly after we arrived and it was excellent...great thing to do as the sun sets. Close to the village. Parking provided. Some staff spoke English which was helpful for us.
Cons: The bed was fairly firm, too firm for our liking. The evening meal choice was very limited..only 2 choices but what we had was nice. The room was relatively basic...but for Senegal was completely adequate
Pros: Staff and owners were very helpful and friendly Great location and facilities
Cons: Breakfast could have been better
Pros: Quiet , clean and comfortable . The proprietor and his staffs are friendly.
Cons: Limited water supply in the afternoon.
