Lovely room and surroundings. Did not like the attitude of owner. We felt we were not welcome.
The location was perfect for us as we wanted to stay in the countryside. It also has a pool. Our room was very nice and we had a verandah facing the Alpilles, and that was very pleasant. The airconditioning did not work properly. Breakfast was very expensive at 17 euro per person - the 'buffet' was very basic and to eat at the restaurant for dinner was 55 euro per person. Because of the location you have to drive a few minutes to get to other restaurants, which is not a problem if you come by car. The restaurants in Mausanne are excellent and good value.
location is excellent, between small hills and nice pleasant villages, rooms are comfortable they had problems with internet and in three days the problems were not solved
Location Restaurant closed (out of season) but did offer to open with limited menu
The hotel is in the heart of the Provence. It is ideally located for tours by car to Avignon, Aix-en-Provence, Arles, Nimes etc. The hotel is run by a very friendly Belgian family. André is the Boss, Nancy is a great cook and Vanessa is responsible for everything. The dinners are really excellent. This place should get at least one Michelin Star asap. Secret tip: ask for the big table in the kitchen!
Good food, friendly staff, nice pool. Accommodation was in a new extension that was unfinished, building work was still in progress.
Enjoyed the view of the Apilles and the location of the hotel within Provence which made it easy to drive to various towns and sights. Our room was exceedingly small and noisy, noteworthy for a hotel that lists itself as 4 Star. Also, its location was very inconvenient--having to climb stairs through the lobby/restaurant.
Value for money Lack of detail description of how to find the place
The minute we walked into the establishment the service was impeccable. The room was clean and spacious with a door opening onto a verandah overlooking the olive groves. The biggest selling point however was the dinner. My husband and I (who I might add are great connoisseurs of food) have not eaten a meal as good as we both ate that night in many, many years. NO
very nice hotel Breakfast greatly overpriced for minimal offering
The hotel is in the village of St Remy au Provance where Van Gogh spent time in a mental institution. You can visit the hospital and see what he saw and based his painting on. there is an impressive Roman ruin nearby. The hotel staff was very helpful in downloading driving instruction for me and providing shuttler service into the town (the hotel itself is just outside the village) I believe the food service needs to improve. Breakfast is part of the plan and even though the dining room had guests the cooks never refilled the scrambled eggs chafing dish. The dinner is full of showmanship and certainly enjoyable but the cooking was not as refined as the presentation.
beautiful hotel just outside the charming Provencal town of St. Remy. The rooms and grounds are well appointed. The staff professional and helpful.
Highly overrated hotel. Perhaps the rooms booked on booking.com are of lesser quality. But, we found the room and the hotel overall to be dull and disappointing.
The room was very clean and the staff seemed friendly enough, the hotel itself was lovely as well. The location, it's fairly out of the way.
We had a wonderful time at this hotel ,the staff were fantastic, they created a great sense of privacy and calm. Nothing was too much trouble. As we were staying a week we were upgraded to a junior suite which was a lovely surprise. We ate in the restaurant twice and really enjoyed it. This is a fabulous, fabulous Hotel.
Wonderful location with easy access for walking into to town
The staff were very friendly and helpful, the hotel relaxed, smart but not stuffy. N/A
Very badly lit bedrooms. Cold impersonal restaurant service. Overpriced food.
Highly competent staff and excellent dinners Rooms did not offer views on the surroundings. At least some prices might be questionable: a beer 33 cl for 8 euro on the terrace in the afternoon.
The staff were very attentive and polite. The layout and facilities in the hotel were lovely and there was a lot of attention to detail. Lovely scented rooms.
The friendliness of the staff and the food was fantastic Need a map to get there!!!
Very nice and quiet! Excellent Dinner. Very friendly staff. Secure place and parking ground. Close to Avignon. Will come back...
The hotel doesn't look like much from the outside, but once through the doors a large, beautiful courtyard (very well maintained) appears. Nice pool area, and well appointed spa area. Fantastic meal at the restaurant. Very friendly staff. The location is a little "off the beaten path", and you need a car to get anywhere. Overall, a little pricey (both room rate and restaurant).
We absolutely loved this hotel! It has lots of Provencial charm and our room was very pretty and spacious. It is the perfect place to stay in Provence if you don't want to be with all the crowds in Avignon center. It is about a 10 minute drive to Avignon and easy access to other areas of the Luberon region. There are no restaraunts nearby so you will need a car for sure. The hotel has wonderful food but is pricey. It has a great outdoor pool, indoor pool with spa, very lush landscaping and beautiful patios. Very attentive service and wonderful personel.
We knew this hotel from a previous stay 10 years ago, it was nice to find out that it still matched our expectations. The restaurant as good as ever.
quiteness, close to town centre, spacious garden pool water was not heated and a bit too cold
All the staff were exceptionally polite and helpful, especially the staff at reception, and the restaurant was of a good standard.
Relaxing, clean and friendly Too expensive by far and poor location
Spa facilities, swimming pool area and the hotel grounds and decor were very nice. Staff were also very attentive. Free wifi in the bedrooms. My room was very small although I was advised of this when booking so can't complain, there are a couple like this, and based on other reviews, most rooms are larger (although this would cost extra to the 185€ we paid per night). My main issue was the cost of any extras in the hotel. Menu prices and drinks were extortionate even if it has a michelin star. Since it's a good 10 minute drive from Avignon, if you don't have a car, you have to go by Taxi, and for some reason that costed around 25€ each one way journey too, making it an expensive couple of days. Not sure if it's normal, but the taxi drivers seemed to start their meter when they were called by the hotel, so the starting tariff would range from 6.50€ to 8.50€ which isn't great.
Charming hotel in delightful setting, with attractive pool area. The internet, although only available in public areas, works quite well. The rooms have either a small balcony or a terrace .Breakfast is a good value -- lots of variety, fresh juice, etc.. Although the hotel is within walking distance to town, the immediate area is not particularly busy or well lit after dark.
Friendly, family-owned atmosphere, helpful considerate staff, simple clean rooms, decent breakfast...nice pool/cabana. Just a 5 min drive from the center of St. Remy en Provence.
Friendly welcome. Situated close to the lovely town of St Remy de Provence, where there is a good choice of restaurants. Hotel itself in a quiet area. Comfortable spacious room with outside sitting area in the beautiful gardens. Provencal features of the building add to the calm tranquil feel of the hotel. Very good breakfast.
Quiet comfort. Breakfast ok. Pool area fine. 2 star about right. Would go back again.
nice place, good location
Very nice and warm place. Very personal services and best breakfast in France yet. No swimming pool.
Staff were excellent form 1st contact. All the facilities were well maintained and comfortable. Loved the pool! Eva loved the almond trees and the fresh almonds which one of the staff showed us. The room was super. Eva would have preferred a bath to a shower.
What an excellent hotel. The staff are absolutely superb, ready and very willing to satisfy all requests. It is a wonderful location, near enough to the town, but very relaxaing also - being away from it all in those beautiful gardes was indeed a great pleasure.
no air conditioning
Pleasant public areas, quiet location, friendly and helpful staff. Minimal room size (but typical in this price class).
we enjoyed the authentic provencal chateau experience, the hotel mixed successfully the original reception rooms with modern but classic french style bedrooms and en suites. The grounds and the terraces were superb. We also enjoyed the innovative gourmet dining. Thought the breakfast a little expensive, so enjoyed our croissant and coffee in the beautiful town of St Remy.
Very professional staff, great nature, and the suite was comfortable.
The staff, ambience, food, and the comfort was excellent. Best we have ever experience as a total package. Nothing to dislike.
the location and the architecture of the hotel (beautiful 17th century "chateau" right next to saint remy de provence) are great! Splendid park as well. Very nice and professional staff no room service and poor mini-bar
Proactiveness. One of the front desk staff contacted us on check in night and he provided us with directions when we could not find the Chateau. This gesture was very much appreciated and the guidance proved invaluable. Not able to visit and appreciate the areas surrounding the Chateau as it was the off season. Also, would be nice if more staff are able to speak English.
the friendly welcome, the professional staff in the restaurant, the excellent food. the perfect setting of the hotel the breakfast service in the morning a bit slow
The hotel offered good attention to detail, tasteful decor and a relaxed atmosphere. We enjoyed the level of service and care offered by the dedicated. staff. It is superbly situated for exploring Avignon, Arles, Nimes and the Carmargue. The pool was fairly close to the road - the traffic noise was noticable in an otherwise peaceful setting. Also the sound insulation between our room and the next was not to the best standard.
lovely, relaxed location. Well situated for sightseeing. Rooms well kept and modern. Friendly staff. breakfast overpriced with no feasible alternative nearby
Everything contributes to a lovely peaceful and welcoming atmosphere. The interior decor is very relaxing and tasteful, the surroundings delightfully 'provencal'. Lovely main building and confortable bedrooms, very nice pool, green lawns and even the use of 'petanque' boules. A huge bonus was that every single member of staff was extremely helpful and friendly. We had high expectations for a big family celebration gathering three generations and every detail was perfect, including a very nice dinner. If only we could have stayed longer.... Nothing major. Just one thing we noted: coming from Maussane there are no signs on the road indicatin g that the hotel is near. It is very easy to miss it.
Main hotel building. Pool. Location. Bait and switch. This is yet another hotel that advertises its newly renovated rooms yet puts people into old rooms that have not been renovated for decades. I had no idea that these rooms even existed. Mine room smelled of 'granny's house' and the bathroom looked like something out of a 1970s sitcom. Even the mattress felt old with springs digging in your back. The main hotel has been beautifully done with a shabby-chic feel. This made me only feel that I was part of the help. Unless you know you can get one of the nicer rooms, I would avoid this hotel. The service, however, was friendly enough.
As far as French standards apply the staff were very helpful and accommodating and the room was of a very good international standard. The design and layout was attractive and appealing - especially the provincial styling. Dietary issues (allergies) were catered for well. The landscape setting was very charming I would not eat at the restaurant regularly because it only offered a very expensive menu. If you are travelling for some time such a menu becomes unaffordable. For us location was a serious issue. As international guests, we did not realise that the hotel was so cut off from the local towns. This needs to be better explained. We would have preferred accommodation walking distance to Les Baux or one of the other villages - because they were a strong part of the appeal of the area. The garden was not finished and there was no temporary signage to reception. You've travelled hundreds of kilometres, lugging suitcases over loose gravel and no one helps you locate reception or assist with carrying the case. It was a very bad initial impression.
The garden is wonderful ! the swimming pool and the breakfast around... a real pleasure !! The price of the restaurant is a bit high. Prefer the room in the bastide they are modern but a bit more expensive...
Stayed there our first night in Provence. We were road weary and enjoyed an excellent dinner at the hotel.
The staff, the trees, the property, the fireplace, the rose wine. Breakfast should be included in the price of the room.
this was an outstanding property - it more than exceeded our expectations - wonderful staff - beautiful grounds, spacious room, superb food and great location for exploring the towns of Provence
Great service. Beautiful old Chateau. I asked to have flowers delivered for my wife's birthday and they managed to get a dozen beautiful white roses delivered even though the flower shops were closed on Mondays.
Excellent location to explore Provence but be sure to have a car as it is about a 20 minute walk to St Remy. Staff were excellent and helped us plan a couple day trips. Restaurant was the best i ate at in France!
We could not have been happier. Driving in to the hotel through an avenue of plane trees with the charming chateau at the end was an enchanting experience and every aspect of the stay lived up to that stunning first impression.
The hotel is beautiful with excellent grounds. First class restaurant. The air-conditioning in our room did not work which made for a very hot night. Staff were informed but took no action.
A charming inn rich with history. The grounds are beautiful and one of the best bathrooms we have had in France. A lovely place if money is no object, although we did get three nights for the price of two on the booking.com site. The meals were over the top expensive. We were seated in the dining room and the owner came in and told my husband he should be wearing a jacket for dinner. This embarrassing situation could have been avoided if the website had indicated their policy or strong suggestion for dress attire. Because of this, we chose not to eat subsequent meals at the hotel and dined elsewhere.
The service was excellent, the food was out of this world (congratulations to the chef), overall the staff was very friendly and helped regarding all our requests. Relaxed atmosphere No, we were very happy. Clients should be aware that although the rooms are very reasonably priced (semi-luxurious, I would say), the restaurant is very expensive. But it was well worth it. The food was stupendous.
The staffs of hotel are very nice and friendly. Dinner was excellent and especially enjoyed to see wine list which had a lot of reasonable priced bordeaux grand vin of good vintage.
Accomodation is very complete, staff is professional. The ambiance is nice (manor and chapel). Swimming pool relatively big. The elevator in the chapel is very slow and the carpet in it has to be cleaned. But this is a minor issue.
perfect kitchen and stuff, nice pool and atmosphere
We liked this typical atmosphere one gets in French Hotels et Chateaux, unique in the world. We also liked the central situation in the Provence, close to Avignon, very close to the highway. no complaints
Great Service and Food, very rustic and very french Air conditioning did not work very well in the room because of poor design
Standard of hotel A1 100% top notch, as too were the staff. Fantastic location, ditto premises and attention to detail. Totally perfect in every way, could not have been better. We will return.....
Splendid hotel in a beautiful part of the French Provence. Wonderfully decorated room with direct access to the garden. Hotel is surrounded by olivetrees and provençal plants and flowers. Excellent, professional staff that really takes care for a perfect stay.
Fantastic experience with quite and serene surroundings and a very accommodating staff. Very comfortable room, beautiful grounds, secure parking, tennis court, amazing pool, scrumptious breakfast....a total delight. Great wifi Internet throughout hotel. Convenient to attractions in surrounding villages. Easy to find if you use GPS and look for signs. We adored this place! No
I loved the friendliness and assistance of the front desk the very best, then sitting by the pool.
the comfort and location none
A very relaxing hotel in a good location for touring a beautiful area of France. This is without doubt the cleanest hotel I have ever stayed in.
location and very serene
This is not a 4 star hotel. Touted as 'very welcoming staff', reception was mediocre at best. Although the small bathroom/shower were very modern, the room was tiny and the window screen was ripped out. My one meal in the restaurant was good, and the wine I was served was excellent. Parking is a problem and I was asked to come move my car to let another guest out, which was not necessary. I have previously stayed at several hotels in the area as well as in the same ville, and I prefer all the others, and at cheaper prices.
It is situated in a small village but within reach of bigger towns. The personnel were very courtious and friendly. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The restaurant was not of the same quality as the hotel itself. The menu was quite ordinary and the service was too rapid. This part of the hotel must definitely be upgraded.
