What are the pros of staying at Hôtel Josephine by Happyculture?
The staff was amazing! Lovely hotel, great helpful staff! Great location, wonderful and helpful staff. Excellent service. Very decent and cooperative staff. Beautiful location. The food is superb. Central location close to Moulin Rouge and metro trains. Very affordable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Incredible breakfast, free coffee, super cute reception area and amazingly friendly staff. The staff was warm and welcoming. Good location and friendly staff. The interior design has been nicely thought and realised, diving in a retro atmosphere. The location is great, 2 mins to Moulin Rouge and underground station. A lovely hotel in a perfect area. Complementary water and coffee. Spacious room. Especially for Paris standards. Unique design. Everything was clean. And the staff was one of the most friendly ever. The location is excellent. The nice and safe neighborhood offered many restaurants and dining. La Fayette shopping district, Moulin Rouge and SACRE coeur within walking distance. Lovely place, great design, great location. Great location, friendly staff, ok value for money. The location, the friendly staff and the original lounge space. I absolutely love the decor of the rooms at this small hotel in a great real Paris neighborhood. No neutral boxy rooms here! Sarah at the front desk made me feel extremely welcome and well taken care of, the air conditioning worked and my bed had lots of pillows and was comfy! I especially appreciated the sparkling or still water refill station in the salon. Why don't all hotels do this?
What are the cons of staying at Hôtel Josephine by Happyculture?
Very thin walls and small rooms. Not a four star hotel. Small old towels, noise, dirty floor. The bathroom is very cold, it’s impossible to shower in the bathtub without flooding the whole bathroom, they don’t even leave a bottle of water in what they call a suite, towels had holes. Breakfast was messy, a lot of stuff weren’t there. Breakfast needs to be better organised, if you come at 7am there is planty to chose from, but at 9 am, different story. All tables full of used plates and glasses, almost nothing to eat, one person cannot handle this. You need more stuff. Breakfast: miss teaspoon, mug dirty. Bathroom: shower door system was faulty. Small rooms. Poor breakfast. Noise. No slide door in the bathroom. No central heater, they got fan heater. We got the bigest room from them but we could barely move. Disappointing. I was cold in the room, and the bed was really small for two people. The lady in restaurant is quite rude. The online pictures gave an overall impression of a more recent and modern interior. I would argue 4 starts as there’s no bath robe and slippers. Very small bathroom, where you literally have to take your belly in to squeeze into the shower. Very poor soundproof in windows (if there’s any). Not only were we waken up at 9 am from the voice of fixing works from the building across the street, but we heard all by passers who yelled or sang on their way back from Moulin Rouge at night. We were charged deposit a week before check in but weren’t told in advance that deposit isn’t the part of total payment and is room deposit. I don’t know what’s in the room there that I can damage for £250 they charged me. It was released after check out and it took several days for money to unfreeze for me, but it was a huge stress. It should have been mentioned during booking cause gosh If it was my last money I reserved toll for the weekend? In total I will look for another option next time, although location is great. Rooms could be a bit bigger. Breakfast is limited and the staff is rigid about the time. Maybe in a parallel universe it’s a 4 star hotel. No minibar in the room, very dark room, got 2 single beds instead of queen size, room was not super clean, no door or a curtain for the shower, no drawers. The airco wasn’t working properly so the room was very warm. Luckily the windows opens. The staff did everything to help us with this issue by the way. And the room was next to a very busy street so a lot of noice. Keep that in mind. Although I booked a room with shower in ensuite, our first room only had a bathtub, no curtain. We had to switched to another room. The bathroom lighting is far too dim to apply makeup in the mirror. I had to stand by the window with my small compact mirror. Very limited closet space and/or drawers. I had to pretty much live out of my suitcase for 4 days. The hotel has NO ICE - no ice! Dark room, the cupboard cannot be opened without moving the bed, shower leaking, very noisy due to poor phonic isolation: you could hear the neighbor snoring. Bathroom is very tight and not properly lit. Nothing worth mentioning. The price was much higher than expected. But as we stayed there before and were very satisfied about our stay last time, we decided to go again. And didn't regret it :)
