Cabañas Caballieri - Pisco Elqui - Pool
1
9.7 Excellent (210 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Cabañas Caballieri in Paiguano, you'll be 21.7 mi (34.9 km) from Elqui Valley and 25.4 mi (40.9 km) from Mamalluca Observatory. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Limited parking is available onsite.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast is ok, not a lot but ok
Cons: .
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This place is amazing. The owner and other staff members are friendly and helpful. The location is excellent, a few minutes walk from the village. The view of the mountains from the balcony is breathtaking. The cabana was really clean and the pool area was peaceful with plenty of sunloungers.
Cons: Nothing.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Amazing room, great view and fantastic service. I honestly loved it and would stay here again. The staff are honestly just wonderful!
Cons: Only slight downside is it's a bit of a walk into the centre and back - but they do give you bikes which make it easier. But after a big dinner it's a little hard to cycle back - it's a bit of an uphill.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The view and the reception of the personnel was great a fresh breakfast in the morning was great also and most of all the cabin was great fully loaded for being in pisco.
Cons: Taking the stairs to the cabin! I suggest calling the cabañas caballieri for a cabin closer to street level depending on your physical needs.
7.1 Good
Pros: The bed was comfortable and the free breakfast was very good.
Cons: If you are taking a bus to Pisco Elqui, please note the hotel is a 25 minute walk from the bus stop and there are NO taxis. We had to walk with our heavy bags. I wished the hotel told us this before we booked! Or at least offered to pick us up at the bus station. The staff was incredibly unhelpful and rude. They left us sitting outside in the rain while we were using the WiFi in the reception area and did not invite us inside. The front desk receptionist sold us on the hotel’s hot tub that cost $30 USD to use. They guaranteed we would see stars after we checked in multiple times. The weather was not good, but they promised we’d still see stars. We didn’t see one star. Waste of money.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was an exceedingly lovely place to stay with beautiful grounds and stunning accommodation. I arrived by car and the check in was very efficient and had the added delight of a complementary pisco sour to help settle me into the property. The accommodation itself cannot be faulted. It was absolutely beautiful, spotlessly clean and had every thing needed for a perfect vacation. The breakfast was also generous and very filling. I cannot recommend this property highly enough.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Splendid and quiet place, beautiful suite, very attentive and caring personnel and host (thank you for your help, Señora Claudia!). Top notch quality and beautiful view. Recommended for couples!
Cons: Being the change of season, the bathroom can be quite cold in the morning. The wifi only at the reception has been an issue for me (I had some work to be done and I couldn't do it from the room). And the 100 steps to go up to the suite can be hard if you're a smoker like me (but the effort is worthwhile!).

Cons: Nothing really . Could have been more seating outside . Tip , the minimarkets in Pisco Elqui do not sell much in the way of food , so if you want to cook best to bring stuff with you .

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Individually styled cabañas with an eye for the detail. It's like the owner had built it for her own use. Well equipped. Very well located so you can walk to downtown, but also have your quiet. The views into the valley are unique, both from the cabaña and the nicely arranged pool area. Lovely hosts!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great in summer for the swimming pools, nice to be out of town to view the stars.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The property is on the edge of town (and a pretty hot walk uphill if you have bags) but has an amazing view of the valley. It is also about 150m from a fantastic restaurant. My cabana was on stilts and the balcony had the same amazing view and was perfect for an afternoon vino and day dream. The size was perfect for one or two adults. Bring breakfast provisions from Vicuña or La Serena - there is a mini fridge, toaster and coffee plunger. (The mini marts in Pisco are pretty basic and restaurants don’t seem to open until late in the morning.). The pools are amazing and also have the wonderful views.
Cons: I liked everything. The cabana stays pretty warm at night and you can’t leave the balcony doors open because of mosquitoes. I should probably have asked for a fan to keep me cool...
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great resort in a magical location
Cons: The access was steep but the lovely owners carried our suitcase to the cabin
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was a charming cabana. With an amazing view of the valley and mountains. The stars were incredible at night.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Super nice and clean hostel. Clean bathroom and good beds. Friendly host und they have good tours too. Sit on the veranda at night :-)
Cons: Nothing really
10.0 Excellent
Pros: If you stay at the bottom bunk next to the balcony you can fall alseep watching the stars. There is one kitchen to be shared between four bunk beds and a double bed so little wait. Guillermo is friendly, speaks English well, and has lots of info about what to do nearby.
Cons: The outside gate has to be locked every time you leave or enter, which is a bit inconvenient. The fence only goes up to my hip so anyone could just jump in anyway. There is only 1 minute of hot water for every 10 minutes of cold water.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The kitchen area was new and had everything you would need to cook a meal. There was a small balcony outside my room which was great to sit out with a cup of tea and look at the stars. There was also a small internal living area with an extra fridge. Guillermo was very friendly, helpful and welcoming and spoke good English. It looks like the place is a work in progress so I expect there will be few new facilities in future.
Cons: I was lucky enough to have the place to myself but the dorm might have been a bit cramped if it had been full.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Guillermo was a fantastic host. Friendly, welcoming, enthusiastic and spoke great English. Very helpful with tips about what to do in the area. It gets very cold at night so bring warm clothes, but the rooms were comfortable and provided comfy blankets.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The owner is really friendly and helpful. We could even rent bikes there to go for a ride along the valley. There are some shops nearby so you can cook at the hostel.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was really great! Michel and Luz are really nice. We got great recommendations for sightseeing and we also enjoyed their beautiful place!
Cons: Nothing - nada - niets
4.6 Okay
Pros: The pool Can't say anything else
Cons: Roosters at 530am (Literally next to my window) Bed made of broken timber & sheets that wouldn't stay on the bed No wifi No 3/4g Arrogant partner of the owner Was told the place was 1yr old... Not likely (Maybe they changed something a year ago??) And the crazy dangerous & blind 100km/hr corner that the entrance is on. It is an accident waiting to happen. 100% will not stay there again
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very nice hosts, at our arrival we got some tips where to go combined with a hand signed map. The breakfast was great! It would have been great to stay some more days! Thanks.
Cons: nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The house and the landlords are fantastic to explore the valle del elqui. We loved staying at this calm and familiar place, good breakfast. It was great!
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: The minuses say it all. The hosts, a Belgian-Chilean couple are all about raking in money and make no effort to make you feel comfortable. When we arrived, the wife only wanted to speak to the person who reserved the booking to explain how things worked. We are a family but apparently the others weren't trustworthy enough or smart enough to understand her explanations. The gas stove dates back to the stone age, the windows give on a henhouse with 40+ chickens and what looks like the sewage from the bungalow. The smiles feel forced, as if to get a good review and that's it. Absolutely no trust was established between us and them. From the start we felt like we were intruders on their property. It's a nice place with a pool but if you're going to host guests, you need to go the full 9 yards and not "here's the keys, here's how this works, when are you leaving so we can get paid, and that's it" We were really looking forward to this place based on the pictures and we're disappointed to the highest degree. Never again.

Pros: Marina Luz is an amazing host, we had some fantastic evenings with her. The guesthouse is beautiful and very clean, highly recommend, will hopefully return one day, thanks again!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: We loved our time at Hostal Luz del Valle, the children loved the chickens, dogs and cats. We were treated to a beautiful breakfast of home made treats and we were given so much wonderful information about the local area and our onward travel.
Cons: Be prepared for dust, just like the rest of Chile
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: The surrounding scenery was beautiful with the Elki sky at night and the sunset. nice atmosphere of the place it's more a postcard setting than something you can actually enjoy. Apart from that, nothing was as advertised.
Cons: The hosts were extremely rude and cold. Made us feel like we were arriving in a military barrack. We rented the bungalow which apparently is only 1.5 years old. Not true! It was bought by them 1 year and a half ago but it is much much older. Right next to the chicken coop. The stove top is decades old and looks dangerous. The bathroom connects between two bedrooms and if you have a fifth person staying in the living room (which was our case), then he or she has to go through one of the rooms to go to the bathroom. When we arrived we were told we had to pay more for breakfast, which I had explicitly asked NOT to have when I booked. We were told that they had already bought the breakfast stuff and made us feel that it would go to waste. We felt like we should take it anyway but they finally said they would freeze it for a future use. What blows my mind is that even if they admitted it was their mistake, they could have offered us the breakfast. Our hosts really didn't make us feel at home and made us feel like we had to triple check the bill at the end to make sure they weren't stiffing us! The excuse for not having pictures of the inside of the bungalow online was that their camera doesn't have a wide angle focus so they would have to buy a new camera just for that. As you can see in the pictures, you don't need a professional camera to take pictures of the inside. These were taken with a smartphone. If the place is subpar, it will look subpar with any camera. Nice subterfuge. Our worst experience in Chile! Makes sense, since the owner is Belgian. Oh and of course the dangerous curve the entrance is on, but previous reviews have already mentioned that.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very soft sheets. Great shower.
Cons: Served instant coffee for breakfast. Poor wifi.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved our stay at el Galpón. Just 1km from the main square in Pisco Elqui, it was quiet and spacious. We enjoyed being a little removed as the town was only a 15 minute walk away, which provided for a good post dinner stroll. The restaurant at the hotel was also good if you don’t want to head into town. The pool was fantastic with lots of chairs and space for lounging. We would definitely stay again if we were to return to the valley.
Cons: Nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: All the staff were amazing who helped us with all our inquiries (they went above and beyond!). Extremely clean, comfortable and memorable stay in Pisco Elqui. We loved using both the indoor (fireplace lounge) and outdoor (pool) facilities.
Elqui Domos - Pisco Elqui - Building
10
7.9 Good (269 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Elqui Domos in Paiguano, you'll be 24.3 mi (39.2 km) from Elqui Valley and 11.4 mi (18.4 km) from Cancana Observatory. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Free self parking is available onsite.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The location is absolutely amazing and you can view the night sky from the rooms which was an unbelievable experience. The hotel is very peaceful. It’s clean. They also have an onsite observatory which you can book (as a private tour) and it is definitely worth it. The staff was also quite helpful regarding recommendations for restaurants / tours in the area.
Cons: Would be good to have a proper onsite restaurant for lunch and/or dinner.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Wow! What a perfect location to enjoy the valley and the stars. Receptionist was very helpful - although we were unable to join the on site astrology talk on the night we stayed.
Cons: Would be good to have a few more chairs on the terrace as we were a family of 4 and only 2 chairs (although one long bench). perhaps some safety barriers are required at top of staircase to the domes - careful if you have children. It would also have been good to be able to buy a drink and sit in the main dome in the evening.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Good location, not walking distance from the centre though. Open roof top was great.
Cons: The receptionist didn't know all the information that we needed. Breakfast was basic, the yoghurt was expired and offer scarce.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Breakfast + location + staff very good
Cons: Cold water at the showers + rooms to far away from the lobby
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was so great I almost don't want to review it, in case it's full next time I want to go. Stunning, stunning place. The pictures do not lie.
Cons: Not a dislike, but a heads up: it might be worth arriving ready to pay in cash, as the internet's a bit shaky in the valley for card connections.
6.7 Good
Pros: The location, staff attention
Cons: By the description I was expecting more attention into the details when regarding the structure of the domus, some things were a little wear out, like the outdoor sitting area and the roof opening. It didn't have curtains so in the morning the light stoke in. It's like staying in a camping site, you can hear the noises from people in other domus, if you are not lucky you can have a noisy neighbor like in my case.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast & dinner were excellent. Staff are very kindly and good attentions given to us.
Cons: Nothing
5.4 Okay
Pros: Great room and views
Cons: I found a hair on my scramble eggs during the breakfast, I told to the stuff and they just gave me a new one

Pros: It was a charming cabana. With an amazing view of the valley and mountains. The stars were incredible at night.
Cons: Nothing

Cons: It can get really cold at night. But there are a lot of blankets to keep you warm.

Pros: Very nice hosts, at our arrival we got some tips where to go combined with a hand signed map. The breakfast was great! It would have been great to stay some more days! Thanks.
Cons: nothing.
