a large holiday apartments resort , well situated, with fairly attractive outside architecture Reception was unfriendly and with an atitude of :'Oh shit another client'. Interior design is old and unappealing
The rooms were really great. There was a full kitchen, dining room, living room, bathroom, bedroom and patio. It was amazing to have a kitchen with a full set of dining ware, a toaster, microwave, stove burner, blender and coffee pot. The place felt very family friendly. It definitely felt like a ski lodge where families would stay for about a week at a time. All of the decor in the rooms were fall foliage which felt weird staying there in the summer. They have a large selection of dvds at the front desk that you can rent for free and have an indoor and outdoor swimming pool. The door to patio to our room was broken. The dvd player wouldn't work and it took forever for us to get it to reopen and spit out the dvd we placed in. They ask you to take all the linens off of the bed and place in the bath tub before checking out, which didn't make sense to us because we took a shower right before we left. It's in the middle of nowhere which is definitely apart of its appeal but there are no gas stations or grocery stores for at least a 15 minute drive.
Clean facilities and friendly staff. Second time visiting - the kitchenette is very helpful. Nice to have balcony and gas fireplace. Comfortable bed. Overall a great place to stay.
Very comfortable. Good value. We stayed there October 21-24. We would stay there again. The room was furnished nicely. We liked being able to get movies. We didn't use the pool, but it looked very nice, as well as the lodge area. Beautiful area. We were travelling back and forth to Williamstown, which was within a reasonable driving distance to the college. We were looking forward to having a fireplace in the room, but it wasn't working properly. Maintenance had to clean creosote off the glass doors so we could view the fireplace. It was really thick and the flame wasn't adjusted properly after that so it didn't look "real." We didn't use it much. They did respond quickly when we called about the creosote issue. There was black on the outside of the unit where the fireplace was, so it kind of felt like it could have been a safety issue as well. The management should monitor the fireplaces.
The mattress was worn and noisy in 107b building 1
Great for families. Love that all rooms include a kitchen. The suite feature (two rooms sort of adjoin) is really convenient as we're always there with multiple families. Checking in is always painfully slow for some reason.
Being from the Berkshires we chose to do a trip for a night while on vacation. We enjoyed it so much we stayed an extra night. Very clean, cozy apartment feel. Pool is great area. With it being off the path (5 miles) I think it be great to put in a snack bar as well as a lounge (dinner/ bar) it would be a gold mine for families not wanting to cook or drive. The first day staff was amazing! Second day the desk people could have had a refresher on positive and client experience.
Clean. Comfortable, beautiful scenery and quiet
Location in mountains. Friendly staff. Very clean and well appointed rooms.Warm and cozy fireplace. Condo did not have a stove or dishwasher.
The hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Also, the view was breathtaking.
Pool Shuttle to the ski mountain would be great idea
. Unit was clean nd comfortable but starting to show its age. Wall paper was peelling, stains on ceiling when water leaked
It was perfectly located. Staff didn't seem aware that we requested a smoke free room and we had to ask for the complimentary breakfast. They were willing to meet requests. We got charged for parking which we did not anticipate. We would not stay here again. Not our style.
The location was convenient for our purpose which was to visit Tanglewood and other sites in the Berkshires
The room was clean and comfortable. They had forgotton that the room came with breakfast included, but when we produced the email with this info, they gave it to us.
Great place! Great bar! Great food! We enjoyed it all.
Maybe the best non-resort hotel we've ever stayed in. The hotel was beautiful and furnished to perfection. Great staff. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We were there for a ski weekend, but it was far too cold the second day. The person at the front desk asked us what we were looking to do and made a list of things for us to do along our ride home. We loved the rooms. Bathrooms were great. We are now looking for an excuse to go back to Pittsfield so we can stay there again. Nothing. Perfect Hotel.
This new hotel is a gem. If there was an option for 6 stars I would have rated it a 6. The room was very large and comfortable, the common spaces in each floor we're inviting and unique. The staff was helpful and friendly. The attention to detail (cookies at turndown a vintage radio with Bluetooth, stocked refrigerator, and a spacious and well appointed bathroom) all made for a perfect stay. The location was not great. North Street is under construction and Pittsfield a little far afield from Tanglewood etc but honestly worth the drive for the comfort of the hotel.
Pool was comfortable temperature, warmer than other hotels. Location was perfect, close to Shakespeare & Co., Shaker Village and Berkshire attractions. no
The staff were phenomenal! They were helpful and courteous and provided great customer service.
Overall nice area/ location. Very clean and comfortable. Breakfast area looked unkempt and could use some touch ups/ updating. Phone would ring at randome, but only one ring, went off a few times the middle of the night. Early in the AM, woke up to noises sounding like someone messing with the door/ door handle. ( no knock as if it was housekeeping)
I liked the location. We liked the room and cleanliness. The front desk offers if you forgot a bathroom item they give you a replacement for free. The room had a fridge TV and DVD player. They have a nice Indian restaurant to eat at. Lots of children running around very loud. They didn't have any lady products at the front desk, so we had to drive to the store. The door lock was broken and was difficult to open and close without it beeping loudly. The bathroom in room #117 had tile that was unfinished and jagged. We wanted to upgrade to a room with a fireplace but the fireplaces don't work we were told.
Location by the lake. On-site Indian restaurant "Mint". Value for the money. Complimentary breakfast. Other hotels in the Berkshires were quite expensive so this was a good find overall but we will not stay here again. The carpets were very dirty especially on the staircase. There is no elevator. The a/c in the window made a lot of noise
Beautiful view of Laurel Lake, updated rooms, friendly staff. I would definitely stay here again. Mattress needed to be rotated! I felt like I was falling off the edge half the night.
The staff was incredibly friendly and offered us some good suggestions on places to go. We ended up visiting the different small towns in the area, and in that regard, you couldn't lose. This hotel was close to everything. The room was clean as well. Overall, it was a pretty good hotel. The beds were fine, but the pillows were terrible. For some reason they were super inflated and as you slept they would shrink down by a lot. So, they were impossible to sleep two pillows high, and one pillow would end up flat like a pancake. Also, for a king bed, there should be king pillows. One big issue we had, and it could be limited to us, was that there was very little noise buffering, and we could hear everything in the hallway and from the room above us. That was frustrating when we really were looking for a good nights sleep. Also, if you have for t-mobile, prepare for no service at the hotel.
Significantly overpriced for what it offered!
We enjoyed the outdoor and indoor pools. We also liked the daily breakfast and thought the offerings were a good variety and generous. The housekeeping staff was efficient and were quick to respond to requests. The rooms are a bit small, and the air conditioning unit was difficult to get to due to the location of it in the room.
Dated. Separate rooms (different building) from pool. Not described
The staff was super friendly. We arrived early with friends and asked about possibly upgrading both rooms to the main building and they gave us a great deal for 2 rooms close together. The breakfasts offered custom omelets plus the usual fixings and more. It was very good! The whole place was clean and friendly and we will certainly return! This is not about the hotel per se, but it was a holiday weekends with lots of kids. We did complain about the kids on the 2nd floor running and stomping their feet well into the early hours of the morning. This is something the parents should have controlled. The Yankee Inn apologized and stated they did speak to the kids and parents multiple times, but got no results. To us on the first floor, it sounded like a herd of elephants above us. Either better behaved kids, or better expression to those staying above or put those with kids in the other building and adults only in the main building or more sound deadening material between the floors. This is our only complaint. Otherwise was an excellent stay.
Pool and hot tub nice, Needed to upgrade room to main bldg, close to pool and breakfast Cost charged was $50 additional a night. Total aprox 150 /night a bit much, I thought. Breakfast staff work hard but bread, waffles, packaged oatmeal and cereals are minimum. News paper for both days was only one left for perhaps 15/20 breakfast patrons.
The staff was great and efficient. There is a relaxed atmosphere in general and the rooms were comfortable and hadd just the right amount of amenities. We had adjacent rooms which made the stay all that more fun.
I was ticketed to fly from WashDC to Albany, then drive on to Lenox. US Air overbooked & bumped me off the plane. I flew instead to Hartford. My bag, however, went to Albany. After a long, difficult travel day, I arrived @ the Yankee Inn @11:00pm w/ very sore knees & legs. Jordan, working overnight on the front desk, was kind enough to move my room from the 2nd to the ground floor. It turned out this was an "upgrade" & would be more expensive. Jordan, a younger & perhaps less-experienced staff member, hadn't made that clear to me. At check-out, the young lady @ the desk was very understanding & told me they'd try to work it out. Next day, she called & told me there would be no further charges & that Jordan would not get in trouble because of me. Incidentally, when my bag arrived @ 1:30 am, Jordan hand-carried it to my room. I though that was nice. The mattress was thin & uncomfortable. The synthetic pillows looked comfortable but weren't. The phone was completely broken. The folks in the room above me made a thumping racket most of the night.
I liked the following : received text prior to check in telling me room was ready, staff very friendly and went out of way when they learned we ate at particular restaurant about the special relationship they have with them and suggested we could go back with hotel receipt for discount, rooms clean, comfortable beds with enough pillows, but mostly loved the family vibe you got from staff. You knew they cared. Nothing bad to say
Perfect for a one or two night stay. The room ammenities in the adjacent building to the main Inn are small and older yet the rooms were clean. The hot tub and indoor pool were well kept and appreciated prior to my half marathon race in Tanglewood. The staff was accomodating however they neglected to provide me with a requested wake up call. The complimentary coffee and tea was a nice touch and the gal tending bar could not have been nicer or more insightful.
Location very convenient, rates are good. Room was clean, a bit dated, small but usable bathroom. On a very busy thoroughfare for all types of private/commercial vehicles, lot of noise from the street. Walls very thin, heard alarm, radio, phone conversations of other guests.
The only redeeming quality of the hotel was the front desk woman who patiently cycled through a series of nonfunctional rooms until we found one that (sorta) worked. Otherwise 1 star across theboard. We had to go through 4 rooms to find a nonsmoking room that didn't stink of smoke, had heat and toilet worked. Couldn't get out fast enough.
A lovely clean room with value for money
Breakfast was quite good! Not having a restaurant & room service
The breakfast and the space for breakfast were both terrific. I liked being able to return from the Tanglewood Concert and enjoy coffee with a friend in a nice setting. Also great waffle making. The low rating on location above is not really for the location but the signage. Usually your hotels are very visible but this one was behind the trees (nice for the Berkshires) but a bit difficult to find the entrance.
room very clean and beds extremely comfortable Since the hotel is hidden behind trees and back from main road a more visible sign would be helpful at entrance from the busy road.
The service was friendly, the hotel room was comfortable and the breakfast was good. No
Size and comfort of room (including whirlpool!). Staff were extremely helpful in suggesting restaurants for dinner and contacting airline on our behalf. Voted best stay of our 2 weeks in New England and Niagra Falls Having accepted the lack of any dining facilities (this was not made apparent when booking) have no other negative comments (the lift was a bit slow!)
The staff was amazing! The hotel was clean and decor spot on. The cleanliness was seen as soon as we walked through the door and continued throughout the whole hotel. Comfortable bed and a fantastic shower...we will definitely return! There wasn't one thing we disliked about this hotel and will be returning soon!
We were delighted with the suite accommodations.Until we located the stool, the bed was something of a challenge, but fun. We had a friendly visit from Simon who settled into the most comfortable chair in the room , and since my daughter and I both love cats we really enjoyed him.
It is so easy to be a guest at the Red Lion Inn. The staff are so willing to make your stay comfortable, the food is good and there is plenty to do and enjoy.
We had come specifically to attend programs at Tanglewood & maybe some things extra. We went to the Norman Rockwell Museum and two galleries nearby. We had coffee & breakfast in, picnic lunches, and dinners at the Inn. The meal food & service are excellent & my companion has food allergies. The swimming pool was calming and beautiful, even for my quick morning swim in a light rain. All the staff were so friendly and accommodating. The frosting was Simon = the beautiful, big cat that roams about the Inn. We were in Steves' House, not the primary inn. It turned out to be a delight. It is a half block away. There was a small, but fully efficient kitchen, with ice machine & coffee maker. The tennis courts were across the street. I grew up less than 45 minutes away, but hadn't stayed for at least 20 years. Old things can get even better with time.We will definitely return as it is a pleasant & easy drive from the New York City metro area, well maybe not in a January snow storm, but I have no doubt that there would be a smiling face at the front desk when we arrive.
We stayed in Stevens House. The rooms were very nice. We enjoyed the parlor with fireplace and big screen. The kitchenette was great and had everything we needed . The location is good for a nice walk around town or a game of tennis. The lack of a breakfast option. There really aren't many alternatives in the town either. We didn't have children along , but there isn't much for them to do in town IMO.
The Red Lion Inn is very old fashioned and quaint. The service was excellent andfriendly and the breakfast in the dining room was great every morning. Remember this is a very old building, the floors creak and the doors were a little sticky but I didn't mind.
The location and proximity to our family in Stockbridge when I booked in August your site led me to believe that the room I booked at $135 per night was for a private room. However, upon arrival we learned that was for a shared bath and a private room with bath was $250 per night. We felt your ad was misleading or the Red Lion was not honoring the agreed upon nightly rate. We feel booking.com should refund the difference. We are not satisfied--we found bugs in our bed, and very mediocre room for $250 a night--we are seasoned travelers--this is one of the least appealing rooms we have stayed in and we love bed and breakfast type of rooms--
It was a lovely stay. The hotel was crowded, and so a bit noisier than we'd have liked. Not their fault though. Service in the dining room and on the terrace was outstanding.
