The whole stay was magical
The beds were nice and comfortable. The hotel allowed us to check on late. The bathroom was literally soaking wet when we checked in late at night. It was very hard to explain as the towels, even the folded ones were soaking wet, the shower was wet , and the trash can had water in it. The whole hotel room had a humid feel to it so I don't know if that was from months of not using the room and it being so warm or if there was a strange leak. When I told the person at the desk she seemed concerned but didn't have an explanation. We left ASAP.
beds, breakfast, and the free wifi. Yapping dogs, broken window, broken chair, and two dirty towels.
My room (417) was very quiet, which is essential to me. Bed was great. Breakfast was good, even though I usually don't like to have mandatory TV during breakfast. The Wi-fi was a bit slow.
The hospitality was out of this world, everyone was incredibly nice! My friend and I were exhausted from out Philadelphia and New York venture, we had nothing but warm smiles and great kindness as soon as we entered their front door! That we had to leave the next day.
Got there late at night, staff was helpful, room was updated and clean.
Maybe I am easily impressed, but they have this machine that lets you push a button and it dispenses freshly baked pancakes. Free pancakes. What else can I say?
Stayed for three nights while visiting relatives in the area. The staff was friendly and took the utmost care to make sure we were comfortable. The room was clean and there were many pillows on the beds. The lobby was inviting and the breakfast each morning was amazing. Looking forward to coming back!
For the amount of money that people pay the room should have been cleaner. It was dirty and noisy.
Each time I've stayed here, the staff has been extremely helpful, and very friendly. The hotel has also been remodeled since the last time I visited. The continental breakfast is great too!
This was a convenient stopping point on a long journey. The hotel is rather isolated by the airport, and therefore food options are limited unless one wants to drive. There are many places that deliver food (pizza, Chinese, etc.) to the hotel, however. My only real compaint is the room was a little dusty and definitely would not pass the 'white glove test.'
Clean. clean, clean... The hotel is newly renovated and the staff is absolutely fantastic. Complementary breakfast was very good and the location is great. We were there for 16 nights and will stay there again and again.
We were there for 16 nights and the staff was great. The rooms and all facilities are spotless. Parking is ample and secure. Easy highway access. Complementary ''free''breakfast fantastic.
Good location. Extra clean hotel and rooms. Fantastic staff. Will stay there again and again.
Close to Montage Mountain where we were attending an event. Loved the 12 Noon check out as we didn't arrive until midnight and were able to sleep in. The breakfast was fine. The room clean and the staff courteous. A bit of money for a single night's stay - but would stay there again - and probably will now that a family member is going to the local college.
I have had the good fortune to stay at 4 and 5 star hotels throughout the world and none of them had a more friendly, courteous staff as the Holiday Inn Express Scranton. The room was extremely clean, neat and comfortable. The cinnamon rolls at the morning buffet breakfast were incredible! If I ever travel through Scranton again I will make it a point to stay there again!
Fantastic hotel staff, from front desk to housekeeping. We were there for 16 nights and were treated with much respect and friendliness. Extra clean hotel. All it needs is a restaurant on site, but the complementary breakfast is fantastic. For part of the stay, our family and friends had up to 3 rooms and all were excellent. We all share the same opinion and anytine we are in the area will stay there.
While we enjoyed the uniqueness of the train station turned hotel, we were impressed by the staff. From the desk clerks right down to the bartender, EVERYONE made us feel at home and bent over backwards to take care of our needs. Though I could use anyone as an example, I was particularly struck by the friendliness and professionalism of one of your longtime lady bartenders (whose name escapes me). I came quite late. Though she was probably thinking she would get out early, she bent over backwards to find out what I wanted. A few other regulars came in and she made a point of introducing us in the most engaging an appropriate way I have ever experienced in a Pennsylvania Hotel. I can see why this lady has been retained for 30 years and I only regret that I've forgotten her name as she deserves to be properly appreciated. Not being able to get a receipt because I booked via Kayak with a service that you don't access directly.
The rooms were very large, beds very comfortable. The hotel lobby was very elegant and the old train terminal atmosphere was very cool. The bathroom was renovated with a stone vanity and very nice tile, but they used a very crappy tub surround.
The refurbishment of the grand train station into a hotel is nearing completion and they have kept much of the details of the main station lobby. It feels grand, though I question some of their design choices (neon bright spot lights?) The heating systems were off and on, including bouts of cold and hot water in the showers. The food at the grill and their main restaurant was Okay, but nothing to get excited about.
The hotel is in a historic train station. Wonderful restoration. I arrived early, so the room was not ready. Okay, I was told I would get a call on my mobile phone when a room was ready. That call never came. As the normal check-in time approach, I returned to the hotel to find that my room had been ready but that no one had found the time to call me.
The building was historic and located in a convienient area. We booked with booking.com and the hotel had no record of our reservation. We found the prior persons dental floss in our room on the floor next to the bed. The worst part was hearing the music from the bar Kildares from across the street all night long...
I have been making an annual trip to Scranton, Pa for the last 15 years. I always stay at the Radisson Lakawanna. The lobby decor has been preserved ( beautiful marble, mosaics, and stained glass). The rooms have recently been redecorated - or are in the process. This is a welcome improvement. The staff is friendly and helpful. We love dining at Carmen's ( in the hotel). Good food at a reasonable price.
Beautiful structure in a great location Noisy.
Convenient to our family, nice nightclub. Rooms clean but a little beat up My sister-in-law booked on line and got a rate 33% lower, used to think I always got the best rate on Kayak, apparently not.
Courtyard, waterfall overlook, fitness facility
Location No being able to fix a cup of coffee in the morning.
It is in a good location right off the highway. The staff were very friendly. There were small repair issues that could be addressed. The door to the room was finicky, and the HVAC unit had the distinct odor of mouse urine coming from it when I turned the fan on. The wifi also didn't work very well in my room. But, for a relatively inexpensive motel, these were not huge issues.
All I could want from a $70 hotel room.
Staff was courteous. The wi-fi worked well, though the desk was a little small. It was comfortable for a reasonable price.
Elevator Extremely noisy air conditioner
Value for price. Other people staying were loud, late at night.
Appearance of public areas of hotel Buffet breakfast was not good. Eggs were overcooked, bacon greasy and clumped together, sausage ditto, nothing tasted fresh, coffee mediocre, service staff just going through the motions, no one was remotely cheerful. Room layout was not good and furniture uncomfortable. No refrig. in room. Price was twice that of lesser hotels in the area but definitely not worth it.
I love staying here. Hot tub in the evening before bed, close to Mohegan Sun and a full breakfast included in the morning! They are changing to Holiday Inn Espresso soon.
Very modern accommodations yet relaxed atmosphere. Bar/dinning area while good, was pretty quiet. Perhaps time of year had something to do with it.
We came from central New Jersey. Your place is tucked away off the highway. When we came in there was one man, Charlie working the desk. He was pleasant, patient and thorough working the check in. I felt bad for him because I was third on line and he was there by himself to assist everyone and answer the phone. The downstairs is just great. We went to the bar for dinner. We got there at 8:45, they still allowed us to use the full menu even though the full kitchen closed at 9. They said we had plenty of time, instead of giving us a hard time. The food was just delicious. We pretty much ordered what was pictured in the elevator. Everything even at that hour was fresh and made to order. Outside there was a bonfire with chairs to sit in. It was also decorated with lots of fancy lights. All of this with the stellar mountain views just added to our feeling of seclusion and comfort. The room was just fantastic. We had so much room to put our stuff, and had choices of where to plug all of our devices in. This hotel totally served its purpose and we will be back for sure. Check in/check out could be quicker/smoother. We weren't there for business or in a time crunch, but if that was the case the time was pretty lengthy. I do not blame the associates at the desk, it would just be nice for things to be a little more streamlined, especially if there is one guy at the counter multitasking.
I had stayed here several times when it was a Best Western. Shuttle was far more accommodating then. Daily free breakfast adequate but nothing to write home about. Other hotels far better. Eggs not always hot. French toast casserole dryed out some days. I chose to stay here again for the indoor pool only to find out it is kept at a very cold 72 degrees because " the owner likes it at that temperature ". Hello!! That alone would make me rethink staying here next time. Landscaping gorgeous and very well maintained. I only wish weather was warmer so I could utilize outdoor area. Burgers in The Bistro excellent.
Convenience to airport
Only complaint was the thermostat in my room was not working properly.
Newer Clean large rooms nicely appointed convenient to major travel arteries complimentary breakfast small workout facility
The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable, with enough space for a family Nothing
Hot tub, breakfast
Breakfast host was outstanding. Desk clerk upon arrival was efficient but had zero personality. Not good. I was a paying customer not someone there to inconvenience her.
Hotel check in staff was rude and uninformed. No time for details but expect a long wait even if there is no one in line. For the room price and lack of amenities you are better served staying at a national chain rather than the overpriced , overhyped mohegan sun. Will not return even if the room was free. Customer service skills are non existent as it appears there is no competent managers at the hotel.
very modern - loved the rooms - very clean - couldn't have ask for anything more
We were impressed. Rooms very spacious. Large bathrooms as well. Beds very comfortable
comfortable and clean nicer than the Hampton Inn etc Breakfast
Hotel was very clean and new staff was very helpful No lock in bathroom door
Could not handle my issues. Did not return phone calls
We thought that the remodeling that had been done was very nice and up to date. It had a relaxed modern feel to it.
Nice clean room. I had a very comfortable stay. The hotel walls are quite thin. Could hear a good bit of hall noise.
Room was kept clean. King bed was comfortable. Desk staff were very nice in general, and great about extending my stay another night without an upcharge. Good workout room. Conveniently located near I-81. Lacks fridge or microwave access. One only elevator was operating, which had been the case for nearly a month. They're expecting the issue to be resolved by July '15.
Friendly staff. Housekeeping did not check my room on the second day; SPG would not credit points for my stay due to having booked it through a Kayak.
Nothing I was told my room was not available when I went to check in at 11pm.
Rooms were clean, I give amenities a 9 Not enough restaurants/shopping in the area. No fault to the hotel but, we had to drive abt 15 mins away to an area with a mall and restaurants.
For the good, first would be the beds and pillows. They were very comfortable and I slept well each night. The room was neat and clean. The public parts of the hotel were well kept and inviting. The location of the hotel was decent, only about a mile from downtown. It's an easy ride to downtown as well. I read several negative reviews of the on site restaurant. Although I only had breakfast there, I would disagree with those reviews. The breakfast menu pretty standard for the north. The food was prepared well. The service was quick, without feeling rushed. Our server was pleasant and engaging. And I felt that the pricing was comparable to what you would at an off site diner. Definitely not gouging. There were only a few minor quibbles I had with the hotel. The walls were pretty thin. There was family with children in the next room. I knew this because I could hear the children well into the evening. It didn't bother me or keep me up, but I was aware of it. In fact, they may have had the worse if it as I am a snorer. Secondly, though clean and functional, the bathroom looked as if it could use a refresh. And lastly, the hot tub could have been a bit warmer. As I said, these were minor quibbles. Overall, I was pleased with my stay at the hotel.
The night manager was very accommodating and understanding as we were traveling for a personal funeral. She went out of her way to greet us and provide us with sincere condolences. She was very personable and in the am because we had to leave made efforts to give us a breakfast to go. Thank you.
The entire staff is friendly and personable. They are very pet friendly, the have a wonderful hotel with lots of ammenities. Minir issues but all were addressed quickly
Easy access to the highway. Loved the fact that it had an equipped kitchen and a spacious suite which is invaluable with a child and two dogs. The staff was so helpful and every one of them was very nice.
Free breakfast was good.
We spent one night during a extended car trip, it was easily accessible from the highway. Felt it was a good value for the money. Feather pillows on the bed, my two asthmatic children cannot have them. I guess to others they are considered a luxury, to us they are a hazard.
The sheets and pillows were fabulous. The price was fantastic. The breakfast was healthy and good.
Room was clean and staff was pleasant
Ease of location to highway. Area looked old and tired.
Location. Value. Breakfast. Comforter too heavy. Would like the option of a lighter blanket.
The breakfast is always good. The beds were comfortable, etc.
Jacuzzi room we stayed in & the morning breakfast offerings were excellent. Would have liked fresh strawberries & more blueberries for the fresh waffles. Also, needed a backup box of tissue in our bathroom. Thanks for asking.
The employees at the Hampton at Montage Mountain couldn't have been nicer to us. All very pleasant and helpful, from letting my husband keep his bicycle in a safe place to giving us directions to Scranton the following morning. My ONLY complaint is minor. The website booking described our room as having a view of the mountains -- only true if you leaned into the window and looked left past the car port directly in front of us.
With a family of five the included breakfast is a great plus. Nothing. We weren't there long enough.
very clean breakfast should be free as per the cost of the rooom
The staff was absolutely amazing, great location. The hotel was very well kept and clean. The bed was amazing if I'm ever in the area I will definitely be going back there.
I had a nonsmoking room and didn't notice any smell that other reviewers have commeted on. The lobby is nice looking with tea and coffee set up all day. My room was good size and it was clean. What needs work is the breakfast. They took two hotel rooms and made them into the "hospitality suite." The free breakfast was well stocked, but disappointing. They only had bagels, boxed cereal, make-your-own waffles and bagged danishes in a very small and cramped room. I would've like to have seen something with protein, but I guess they did the best with what space they had. Also the seating area was very tight as well. It felt like you were on top of the other guests and if they had a good size family, well good luck with having a quiet breakfast. My second complaint is while the staff was friendly, they were all dressed very casual, as if they were wearing their street clothes. They didn't look like hotel employees.
The hotel is really just a hotel. If you are passing through and need to spend the night this is the place. The price is inexpensive and the hotel staff are very friendly. They first put us in a smoking room and we couldn't breath (I'm a non smoker) I went to the front desk and they immediately placed us in a non-smoking room. Hotel is right off the 81 and near all the main shops and whatnot. Decently priced for a quick stay overnight. I cannot confirm as we were only put in two different rooms but it seems like there is a fridge and microwave in each room. Hotel is very clean. The bathrooms in the lobby could use an update to the 21st Century. However the bathrooms in the rooms were nice.
Hotel was close to major highways and fairly inexpensive. Hotel is in need of some updates. Mold was visible in the bathroom, clearly had been painted over. In order to access the pool you need to take a staircase from the second floor, very inconvenient when you're traveling with small children. The pool area is very outdated and dirty. The breakfast choices are very limited, in the area in which you eat is very cramped.
$15 for glass of wine Wifi not working
The room was clean, amenities more than fine for what I was staying for (just one night to crash after an event in Scranton), and looks like it would be a nice place to stay for a longer visit too. The in room coffee maker and fridge were great additions, and the Noon check-out time is nice for a late-riser like myself – even 11:00 can be a little early sometimes. And kudos to the front desk employee who helped change my night when I was checking in – I accidentally booked the wrong night online and didn't realize until I was in the lobby but he switched it no problem and with no additional fees! Signage, the hotel is tucked up a driveway completely hidden from view from the road and the only sign they have is about the size of a Dunkin' Doughnuts drive-thru sign, on a dark road no less. There's a bigger sign once you get on the driveway obscured by trees but you can't see it from the road at all and I drove right by it the first time. They need a bigger and better lit sign so the driveway's easier to pick out, especially since there's two other Marriott brand hotels a stone's throw away up the road.
Comfortable bed Good location No hot water until 5.30am each morning Cleaning of room not great with sink left dirty
Staff was beyond excellent as the were extremely helpful and freindly. The hotel provide a taxi to pick me up at the airport at 2am.
Rooms were beautiful and smelled so nice!!! I'd definitely come back!
The room was very comfortable, clean and homey! We came in to cut travelling time to bring my Aunt for heart surgery. From are check in to check out, all your staff were friendly, accomidating and sweet. It made a very stressful time actually relaxing and fun nothing really
Second time we have stayed at this facility Very friendly and helpful staff Nice clean rooms Very comfortable beds No complaints
Great staff! Rooms aren't great, but for $75 it's a steal. The bed was uncomfortable bu everything else was very clean Beds were uncomfortable
