Very peaceful and quiet, despite the hotel being quite full. Really superb views of the sea. Set in beautiful, tropical gardens - very interesting for gardeners and garden-lovers alike. No kettle in room. Would have loved a decent cup of tea, as Spanish tea is awful - at least from a British point of view.
Although the parador was built about 20 years ago, it feels like it is 300 years old. Located on the top of a hill overlooking San Sebastian and the sea, it is a rather romantic setting. The parador oozes with charm and the room was comfortable and tastefully decorated. Service from staff working at Reception and at breakfast are excellent and efficient. Nothing to do with the hotel as such: when we arrived by ferry at San Sebastian, no taxis would take us to the parador because it was not far enough. Taxi drivers on the island are rare, greedy and arrogant. We had to phone the hotel in order to have a taxi to pick us up. The advice is to arrange a taxi with the hotel beforehand. Breakfast: the "tortilla espanola" on one morning had HAM in it although it wasn't labelled as such. Equally, people were expecting to use the same utensils to pick up cheese and meat. The needs of vegetarians need to be more taken into account. The advice is to book a room on a top floor as we could hear foot steps, the noise of people talking normally, going to the toilets, etc... from the floor above.
Delightful ambiance and dramatic location. Breakfast excellent. Other food also excellent but rather expensive. Few reasonably priced meals/snacks. Hotel is high above the town so a very steep trek (or 6-8 E taxi) to do a quick shop or to catch the buses to other parts of the island - a free mini-bus service to/from town would be an excellent service.
The garden's were stunning along with views. we also loved how much character the hotel has. Very relaxing, very tranquil I didn't like that the "double" room i booked and paid for, was in fact a twin room with 2 separate beds - not very ideal for a young couple on a romantic weekend away.
Location on top of the rock above the city, rooms decoration, staff hospitality, swimming pool. Breakfast a bit poor compared to the large hotels in other islands.
Very professional, high standard hotel with superb clifftop location, lovely gardens and pool, and excellent food. Moonrise over Tenerife seen from the gardens is spectacular. Very good deals for older and younger customers.
Hotel is very nice, typical spanish architecture, the best from the all 4 hotels in San Sebastian de la Gomera The room was not good furnished.
La Gomera is a jewel, and probably the top hotel is this one. Breakfast was outstanding and the food at dinner as well, very modern. Kind of expensive.
Architecture, decoration, gardens, pool, breakfast, views, location
Gorgeous property overlooking the port with fantastic sea views and lush gardens Sewage smell from the bathrooms (we changed rooms twice)
We loved the atmosphere and antique decor and the feeling that we were guests in a stately home. Such a pleasant change from anonymous modern hotels. Easy access from the ferry and an excellent base for visiting the mountains.
Wonderful location under the towering cliffs of Valle Gran Rey, Good breakfast, excellent large room and very helpful staff. If you want a holiday to relax this is the place. Equally hikers would find it a great place to start good (hard) walks. The thing that made it spectacular for us was that I left my mobile phone in the room when we checked out and they went to the bother of posting it back to my home address. It doesn't get much better for customer service than that!
room was nice no bar area, no atmosphere, staff inexperienced, was not 4star, parking awfull, underground with terrible acess, would not use this hotel again paid for sea view, was overlooking roof buildings, asked to move told no, too busy,, not full the hotel, breakfast awfull
The roof top pool was very pleasant providing a great place to relax with amazing views over the ocean. The quality of the food both at breakfast and dinner (both buffet) could have been better. A shame that the cuisine did not match up to the hotel facilities and service. Really let the hotel down.
Very nice hotel in a beautiful location in La Gomera! The people at the restaurant are very friendly (and cook nice food!) and the rooms were comfortable and clean. Enjoyed this stay very much.
Fantastic, excellent service!
Pleasant English speaking staff with helpful information. Good value local vegetarian food. Apartment had nice view and was very quiet.. Appartment 500m. from hotel and a bit run down. Not a lot of choice for eating.
Hideaway that allowed you to escape from the "real world" for a while. Asked for double -- not twin beds.
Excellent local vegetarian cuisine freshly prepared from own grown crops. Friendly owners (family run). Virtually no natural light through the window which looked onto a hillside and no view from our room although most of the properties had wonderful views and terraces, so we were unlucky!
Unusual venue. Well cared for by Dona Effigenia, with delicious home made vegetarian food in small rural community. A fascinating experience with good walking near by but weather does close in in the afternoon.
Nice setting and very nice old lady in charge of the whole operation but I am afraid she is only effective regarding the food she takes care of. Nobody is supervising the "hoteles rurales". The people were helpfull but from another planet. They seem to be managing for someone else. It is definitely not an hotel. There are no service whatsoever: no change of towels (we stayed 6 days), no clean up of the room, no collecting of refuse (we had to ask for toilet paper & a dry towel). It is a rental by the day of some old rebuild country house. It was cold & damp when we arrived, it was raining inside... We found much higher quality in another hotel we stayed at on the island.
Excellent place to relax and start your daily trackings. The room is big enough, good kitchenet. Plus that you have to pay 1 EUR for 1 hour TV :-) No hairdryer; the swimming pool is not heated.
Just the right location for us. very friendly and helpful reception We wanted an early breakfast as we were off walking the enxt day. But fully appreciate that they don't have facility for Breakfast before 8.00am
Spacious appartments, excellent staff Bathroom fittings were looking a bit worn
Apartment complex is very pretty. It is a quiet place and just 7 minutes walk into the Veultas area with bars and restaurants. Would definitely stay there again. the pool area is lovel and the breakfast very good and very good value. A supermarket directly across the road is very convenient too.
Central location The receptionist was very rude
Good value spacious appartment. Large, clean swimming pool. Located on a sometimes rather noisy (early morning) street corner so could not leave the window open at night which meant the bedroom was too hot.
Relaxing on the balcony, sunbathing on the beach, hill walking on the numerous excellent trails; no
good location for beach and restaurants sun loungers by pool uncomfortable
Spacious and clean. No sun all day on our apartment - though most of them do.
