Hotel is new, clean and nice No car park! Some of the staff aren't very confident in what they are doing, but appreciate that you had only been open a few days when we stayed, so this should improve with time
Hotel was very clean and wellkept. Staff friendly and helpful. Would definately stay again
Very cordial and helpful staff Parking facilities are not very conveinient and we had to use a public car park which would not open until 10am on sunday to take out my car
location was good. Walkable distance to the train station. Close to the shops and the harbourside restaurants. Nice room comfortable. We liked it here. no view from the window but we were only here one night and it didn't matter
Good central location, car parking nearby
We liked facilities at hotel, location and although the hotel didn't have it's own designated car parking, the car park next to the hotel was practical and very reasonable for city centre parking. Lastly we would like to take this opportunity to say how friendly and helpful the staff at the hotel were, that is something I have never experienced before in the hotels we have stayed in, not only in Plymouth
The staff are very friendly and the one's I spoke to spoke could speak english. Everything I asked for it was gvien to me as if they meant it. No digital TV , i.e sky sports etc. The room I stayed on the pay TV did not work. 2) I could not open the windows at night as the window lock key was not available in the room
Breakfast was very good, plenty of choice excellent value Could have been warmer in bar area
Location Toilet in bathroom did not flush. The expensive overnight car park separate to the hotel.
This hotel was in excellent cndition and very very clean. I was taken ill while there and the duty manager [Corin] and her staff were extremely helpful and couldnt do enough for us Just 1 problem when using the sink when you let the water run away it makes the most dreadfull noise and goes on for some time but that was all we could fault and having to pay £24 for parking wasn't great !!
Nothing really, was a big dissapointment, it was noisy, too much traffic, some guests slamming the doors at 3-4 am., It was noisy, too much traffic, some guests slamming the doors at 3-4 am., it was cold
Not the first stay, and not the last. Nice room & service, ideally located hotel, good value.
The only thing we did'nt like was that the shower in bathroom did'nt work properly but as we was leaving in the morning it wasnt a major problem
Central location No
Good room quality for a low price. Slow lift, long periods spent waiting for it while having to go only one floor up - it would have been faster to use the stairs but we couldn't find where they were.
Comfortable and generally welcoming. Internet access in the bedroom did not work.
old hotel but very comfortable and clean
The staff were very helpful and friendly The Coffee, breakfast, hairdryer, worn decor
This hotel is ldeally located for the City Centre, it offers comfort and relaxation to shoppers or mere tourists visiting the area. There is nothing about this hotel we found to complain about.
Location Small car park
Our room was a good size and clean. The restaurant was good and the staff were friendly and helpfull. Did not like the charge on car parking for residents of the hotel that should be free.
All staff were friendly and efficient, from reception, to pool, to bar and dining room.
Splendid view over Plymouth Hoe provided you get a sea view room. Good restaurant and swimming pool, sports area.
The friendliness and efficiency of the staff and the comfort of the room. No.
good accommodation, friendly and helpful staff
Location / views / breakfast / gym / pool No hot water first thing in the morning and shower did not work at all - maintenance fixed the problem promptly, however.
The hotel location and sea views from the restaurant pent house were excellent. The staff were very friendly and more than helpful. The spa and changing room areas were in need of some cleaning attention. The restaurant windows on the pent house were very dirty and spoilt the spectacular views from them
The location Being made to feel inferior by the resturant staff because we were on a meal inclusive package.
Spacious bright room Unimaginative and mass produced food
THe ease and efficiency of dealings with the staff Greater consideration needs to be given to the location of the smokings area. Its hardly very conducive for guests having to run the gauntlet of smokers in order to enter the hotel
lots of space, very modern, privacy, good for kids. the aircon failed while we were there. as it was a weekend they were unable to fix it
The hotel was very clean and well presented and my room was fantastic value for money, I also found the staff very helpful and friendly
Only in the hotel to get ready and sleep so did not use any of the facilities but room very comfortable and roomy Breakfast was very basic
Everywhere very spacious, including bedrooms; fixtures and fitting to a very high standard. Bed and pillows very comfortable. Lighting in room excellent with spotlight over desk. At least 10 power points in the room, 3 were next to the bed. Tea and coffee in room. Iron, ironing board and hairdryer in room. They do a good evening meal deal - £15 for 2 course evening meal with one drink. They have 2 real ales in the bar, both from South Hams brewery. It's a Canadian chain with only 3 hotels in the UK. It's easy to find and easy to get to being just north of the A38 but it is a bit of a way from the centre. Good English breakfast - fried eggs are cooked to order; the rest is buffet.
The clean, modern decor and facilities, and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The hotel restaurant was also good. Could have been cheaper, perhaps more deals for non-business guests staying for more than one night.
The peace and quiet about the whole hotel I had no problems
Future inns and Hoels have a whole experience of great hospitality. I always attempt to stay with this hotelgroup.
excellent rooms and helpful staff N/A
Everything was very clean and new.
Quiet, elegant and efficient hotel. Very comfortable beds, lovely to have duvets instead of blankets. Nothing whatsoever, would stay at any Future Inn in future.
Good location, nice and cheap, friendly staff. No elevator.
good position for walk on ho and barbican for dinner etc. staff were very helpful and informative , all in all a very pleasant stay.
Helpfulness of staff during my stay
very pleasant staff, comfortable room not impressed with the breakfast
bed was comfy food took a long time to prepare
Helpful and polite staff, warm clean room with comfortable bed. Great location between centre and Hoe. Well cooked breakfast to order.
Safe ,comfortable and friendly! I use this hotel when staying on my own and feel very safe!
Free wifi & parking, good breakfast, clean room, Cable TV, next to Hoe, nice big "superior" room, pleasant staff. Impeccable. Only one tiny thing- getting the right temperature in the shower is tricky with blending the hot and cold taps. You need fingers like a safecracker- cold tap must be open only one quarter turn... All else perfect.
Everyone was friendly and efficient. Beds were comfortable, room was large and well furnished. Breakfast was excellent. It was a very enjoyable stay. Can't think of anything.
Clean and attractive room.
Faultlessly clean and superb breakfast, served hot ! The stairs to our room on top floor !
Felt very relaxed and welcome. Breakfast was excellent. Great location.
Pleasant people running it. Very comfortable room
the staff were very useful and friendly , breakfast was ample and prompt we were on the top floor and the stairs were hard work !!
Very friendly people, great location near the Barbican and City Centre. More comfortable bed than I expected for the price. Sink in room. Shared bath not shared by many. Location means lots of noisy seagulls early. Don't expect more than three TV channels.
Excellent scrambled eggs :O) You have to be fit - there are a lot of stairs
There was cctv in the hallway which captured an image of everyone coming through the door who either had a key or was calling at the hotel. A good safety feature.
Good location, good price Staff were not very accessible, rooms and stairwell very narrow and hard to get luggage through
The staff was very helpful, rooms was spotless and very spacious, breakfast was plentyfull and tasty. As a former manager of a London 4 star hotel I found Jewells was a better standard and I would recommend it to anyone I could not find one fault about the hotel
the room was fantastic and was within walking distance of the town centre.
Facilities were very good for the price of the hotel. The restaurant menu was small and expensive, the bar menu had a lot more selection. The bar menu should have been served in the restaurant
pleasant staff and good food at the Brasserie Apart from the smart reception area, the hotel could do with some decorating and refurbishment
The room was very quiet and the staff friendly and helpful. The area behind the bath taps was really very dirty with mould and should have been spotless (room 508).
The rooms furnishings were fresh and clean obviously recently refurbished. Lovely choice of decor bedding and comfy bed. Room 306.. i am a light sleeper and the noise from the clubs and road did keep me awake but my daughter slept like a log..the added bonus of free use of lesiure club was great lovely staff in there too..
The Hotel Night Porter! Washing left outside opposite room from 2pm until following morning. Expected more for our money. Landing/Hallway carpets sellotaped. We booked a room for 3 tho when we wanted a hot chocolate there was only 1 supplied. Would not stay again, value for money terrible & location not brill. We have stayed at the Copthorne Hotel before & The Jurys. Wo uld most definately stay at Jurys again. Hotel staff brill tho!
very good, staff very helpful rooms were nice
the resturant below is very nice and cooks steak perfectly. Although centrally located noise is minimal, facilities clean and staff very polite. although i thought the booking.com description was slightly misleading about wifi charges. The staff resolved the situation and have promised to edit the description to ensure noone else expects wifi to be included in the room foc!
We ate in the Brasserie which was excellent the food was delicious and good value.
Staff good, good value, nice aspect but Plympton in general very shabby.
Fantastic building tastefully decorated and in keeping the it's historic background. A very pleasant stay with a very comfortable room.
It was an excellent stay, great dining experience, sensible prices for dinner and wine, well trained staff.
character two single beds pushed togetherr instead of a double.
Good location and the room was a great size for us and our two young children. Even though the hotel was pretty family friendly, we found it easier to take our evening meal out of the hotel.
Food, history and style of building, friendliness of staff Lack of leisure facilities
How quite it was but close to the town
excellent food and service
The medieaval interior of the old hall, the friendy and efficient staff and the excellent breakfast The poor ventilation of the bathroom
We stayed in the main house, which, although rebuilt after a fire in the 1980's, still retains a real 16th Century feel to it. I would definitely go back again.
a complaint about the absence of a chest of drawers in the room 416 was immediately rectified.
Very poor quality standard of room and staff at restaurant had a very poor understanding of the dinner menu and wines. Staff also appeared a bit hectic during dinner service, yet only a few customers to serve.
The traditional decor and friendly staff made the stay enjoyble. Breakfast was plentiful and served in a lovely dining room. Our room was on the 5th floor and we had great views across Plymouth through a beautiful flower shaped window.Everywhere was very clean and the staff went out of their way to help.
Excellent room, very spacious and immaculate. On arrival the very young girl seemed very inexperienced and there was no real welcome at all. The first impression really counts and this was sadly lacking. The next day another foreign receptionist met guests queries with a high pitched "yes?" Instead of a "can I help you". The barman also looked grumpy, we felt this hotel had everything going for it apart from the staff, although those in the restaurant were friendlier.
close to shops, the hoe, theatre. restaurant dinner prices far to expensive
The breakfast and the room Not many staff on on the Saturday afternoon to serve bar meals and also tables in bar lounge quite low to eat from.
Location was excellent as we had tickets for a gig at the Plymouth Pavilions, which is literally across the road from the hotel. We had junior suite, which was fine. Hotel cracking example of Victorian design, but smelt a little dusty! Also, the first lady (dark hair) was not very welcoming, which was a pity as the rest of the staff were great.
Overall a very good hotel
location and thoroughly good service
refurb rooms were very modern and clean
Everything, including the excellent food and the friendly service. Nothing.
We loved the lovely peaceful country setting and views out to the fields and cows. Food was excellent at all meals
The food was well prepared The room not as good as expected. On arrival the hotel was understaffed.
A really good country house hotel situated close to beach, countryside and city. Owners have a "hands on" approach and it shows! Perhaps a few pictures on the bedroom wall and a trouser press would be useful.
Made to feel at home Lovely shower etc Key to get in if late at night Breakfast very good Double duvet on king size bed
The friendly staff and the well prepared and presented delicious food
the total luxury, made to feel as if we were part of the family and nothing was too much trouble two things which i can not mention as they were complaints
The staff were very helpfull and accomodating, the food in the restuarant and bar was excellent ,we liked the informal atmosphere of the hotel For the winter period perhaps the heating of the rooms could be improved.
loved it all ... and can't praise the owners and staff enough they did everything to make our stay wonderful (even lent us welly boots to explore the fantastic gardens that lead down to an amazing beach) . the hotel has so much History attached to it, and now has just published a book about it... we were lucky to be there at that time .. the book is amazing .. really interesting!!
All reception staff were happy, helpful and accommodating. Rooms were clean and bright with nice decor. There was an unacceptable amount of noise from outside due to inadequately glazed windows. The housekeeping staff were very noisy from early in the morning, chatting loudly in halways and banging doors, furniture and vacuums noisily throughout the morning. That wouldn't be a problem if you were staying for business and needed to be up and out early but was annoying when we were hoping for a relaxing, quiet morning.
All staff of the Hotel are polite and professional, they are willing to assist their customers with heart.
Room and hotel very clean and reception staff very helpful As it was very warm and although a fan was provided, which was on all night, air conditioning would have been better.
Location to the city and the Hoe was good all within walking distance.
Clean comfortable rooms. Wifi very expensive. Wifi at £5 per hour or £10 for 24 hours even campanile now have free wifi!!
Staff were helpfull. Considering this hotel chain prides itself on offering a guarenteed good nights sleep, the fact that it is on a very noisy main road and directly opposite a scrap metal merchants yard, means that you are woken periodically through the night by cars, and then at 7.30am on a Saturday morning by the noise of machinery and scraping metal.
Just a short walk to National Marine Aquarium & Barbican (across footbridge) City centre is also within walking distance.
liked the fact that it was not very far from anywhere, staff were very helpful,
Staff very friendly. Room clean and nice shower. Free parking. Location. Bed big but mattress quite hard, we found it hard to sleep comfortably. Roadside noise, so a bedroom on the harbour side would have been better since we have a small baby.
This hotel is in a very quiet, but excellent location for us. The free parking meant that we could leave the car there and explore the city and its surounds easily. The building site that is in preparatory stages at the moment could be a noise and dust problem in the coming months
Quiet, clean, nicely furnished
Superb setting and interior design, plus good food at affordable prices.
the bedroom and bathroom were very clean the service at dinner and breakfast was very slow
Lovely hotel with relaxing atmosphere. Staff were really attentive and helpful. The hotel is independent and if you want something away from the corporate norm of other hotels then this is the one for you. Our room was over the kitchen and we were woken up by their radio but a call to reception sorted this out immediately
A beautiful hotel with very helpful and attentive staff and excellent food. My room was extremely well appointed. Can't wait to return. The check out procedure took a bit too long due to shortage of staff at the desk and co-ordination between the dining room and the check out desk.
Clean and very sapcious. A lovely room Nothing!
Elegant and comfortable surroundings and facilities
We had a most enjoyable long weekend at St Elizabeth's. The decor is very period on the ground floor and modern in the bedroom. The hotel is tucked away in the old village of Plympton St Maurice. If you have a Satnav ok, but if not probably best approached from the West side
It made you feel special, it was a very nice place to stay
he room was comfortable and fairly plush. The service in the bar area allowed flexibility allowing me to choose from the restuarant menu in the bar. The food itself was excellent. There was no tv in the bar
Position & comfort. Wonderful breakfast. The room could have been larger with more windows
Friendly, convenient location, clean and the bed was comfortable Heating in the room was not controllable as radiator thermostat was broken
The breakfast was good I didn't dislike anything. I did not read any guest reviews
I liked very much the Full english breakfast.
Staff were attentive, restaurant facilities good, plenty of hot water for shower, easy access to the rest of Plymouth city on foot. The hotel is quite noisy, it is impossible not to hear activities in rooms adjacent and especially avove, this is even when guests are walking around. Floors are creaky and could do with someone screwing the flooring down, doors all bang shut because they need the fire regs door closers changing for the modern soft close type.
There isn't a "best". It is just off The Hoe.It has a car park at the rear which is locked overnight by the night porter. It is privately run. The circular bus route passes the hotel and goes into the city centre and to the Barbican (harbour). Staff were friendly and helpful. There is a dinner menu but we only wanted sandwiches which the chef was willing to prepare. As a building it is two elegant houses put together with two different but elegant poished wood staircases. We were allowed to leave the car in the car park the day we were leaving so that we could be tourists in Plymouth.
It looked nice from the outside. It was not suitable for people who were not fit there was no lift to the upper floors eg.4th floor. Rooms on the top floor were poorley equipped ie.no bedside light .Food was of poor quality.
Clean rooms with good facilities and good breakfast. Staff could not make decisions about charges. Hotel management eventually agreed to refund over charges but have so far failed to make payment.
Convenient location for all local amenities Slow service for evening meal due to outside functions
Very clean and close to town and seafront We had a back room with a noisey extractor fan on outside wall
Good Service Poor food quality - was not fresh - more like frozen diced chicken warmed up (Had the Curry & Friend had the stir fry - same style chicken in it)
Room was large and airy with good biews across course. Hotel Receptionist excellent and very friendly. Spa and swimming pool very good. Lack of parking spaces and tables for breakfast. Had to wait 25 minutes to get coffee order taken at breakfast.
Location, food. Rather tired and run down. (we knew it from many years ago when it was much better. Cat seem to be allowed in dining room. Tables not cleared in dining room - lots of dirty plates. If we had paid the Elfordleigh website rate then I would have been complaining very loudly!
The cat that visits the hotel! The hotel is way over priced for what it is!
Clean, quiet and comfortable - ideal for a short business stay or a leisure break for golf or relaxation. NO
the room and food was fabulous would love to stay at the hotel again
The receptionist on our first night was amazing and imediately made us feel that we were the only guest that they had there. The staff attitude in the swim area, we felt that he couldn't be bothered and a regular member told us about the facilities instead - poor.
The location was excellent - peace and quiet. Overlooking parkland that was now a golf course. The place lacked character and atmosphere. Soulless
Having access to gym & spa Swimming pool was out of use which hadn't been told at booking in
