Pros: We enjoyed our stay at 1ofushostel in Ponta Delgada and Patrícia is one of the most likeable hosts we ever had. Her warm welcome made us feel very comfortable at this accomodation. The room was very nice and and you don’t hear the bar in the road at all if you close the windows. (Ventilation in the room for that case) The facilites at this accomodation are good too, the beds are comfortable and you can have as many pillows as you want. :) The location is perfect for Ponta Delgada and the breakfast with Patrícias homemade jams is a good way to start the day. Pros: Location, ambiance, Teresa the Owner, ease of parking. This is a true gem of a property built some 200+ years ago, but with all the comforts of today's life. Located on a large, treed square and if you need to rent a car, Ilha Verde agency is right next door.

Cons: Our room (Magnolia) was on a small side. So we would recommend the other, larger rooms. There are 5 rooms in the property.

Pros: We loved our stay here and wish we had stayed longer! The room is perfectly comfortable and the bathroom is way bigger than you typically see in Europe. The house itself is so cool and unique and is in such a great spot - walking distance to restaurants and the town center. Breakfast is delicious and filled us up for our long days of hiking. The staff though is what really made our experience. Sandra welcomed us with lots of insider local tips and was extremely helpful by suggesting the best ways for us to organize our days. We would definitely stay here again!

Pros: Superb historical property in a great Ponta Delgada location. Very well presented and done-out property full of historical pieces of furniture, pictures etc. Wonderful host Theresa. Lovely room and bathroom. Superb sitting room. Excellent varied breakfast. This is the 4th time we have stayed in the centre of Ponta Delgada - in the past at supposedly much better and certainly more expensive hotels: this beat them all by far.

Pros: I did like the location. It was very near to the center. It was very clean. They give us advise with the activities of the day, surely when it was raining.

Pros: The hotel has a very good location in the centre of Ponta Delgada. We were welcome very kindly. The proprietors speak very good English. The room was nice and clean. The breakfast was very interesting with many local specialities. The building itself is an old historic building and the furniture is traditionally portuguese, very nice.

Cons: The air conditioning was a bit loud, the internet signal could be a bit better. But in total, it is an outstanding hotel!

Pros: Absolutely loved this spot - the room was bright and airy and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was great, and we appreciated the carafes of American-style coffee (I am not a cappuccino person and appreciated being able to properly caffeinated myself). Staff was also very helpful when it came to returning our rental car (and parking it was only 5 euros a day).

Cons: We drove here from Furnas, and the address would not come up in our car GPS. Having seen the property, which is on a pedestrian only street, I now understand why, but, it made finding the property in our rental car a little difficult. Didn't detract from the overall experience, but just an FYI for anyone else who might be driving here - you'll either need to make sure your phone is set up for cellular or that you have a paper map.

Pros: What a fabulous little establishment. We traveled in the Azores and Portugal for 14 nights and this hotel was our absolute favorite. The thought and detail in conserving the history of the home was impeccable, the staff was lovely, spoke great English, helpful, I could go on and on. We would recommend staying at Casa das Palmeiras to anyone hoping for a lovely trip to Ponta Delgada.

Pros: The friendliness is amazing. I joined the group dinner in the garden and next to fantastic food I had really meaningful conversations. The atmosphere makes you feel like home immediately.

Pros: The garden is a sight to behold. It is spacious for any activity. They have hammocks, a small swimming pool and places to chill around there. Another thing that was much appreciated was the fact that they prepare early breakfast without asking! I left for my flight at 5am and had breakfast at the hostel itself.

Cons: Poor WiFi coverage. There was no Wifi Signal in my room, or the garden though I don't have major complains about it.

Personal super kind and nice, everything super clean, beautiful, amazing garden with pool and in the very city center. Really recommend it!

Pros: OMG. I have been staying in hostels for 20 years and I can honestly say that Out Of The Blue is the BEST hostel I've ever stayed in. The facilities are impecable; air-conditioned, comfortable rigid beds, awesome shower, great kitchen, glorious garden. The breakfast was amazing; equal parts delicious and nutritious - pancakes with fruit, yoghurts and granola, eggs florentine. The hostel has thought of everything - they run evening meal events in their garden (BBQs, pizza nights etc) and during the day have reasonably-priced excursions to places around the island. And the staff; friendly, smiley, efficient, helpful. I know now where I'm going to live when I retire ;-)

Cons: Honestly, I can't fault the place.

Pros: The included breakfast was amazing - in a lovely outdoor covered space where you could start your day having conversations with other guests. Lots of food options ranging from cereal to bread, to cooked breakfast (we had pancakes with fruit, and poached eggs on a different day). The optional dinners (around 18 euros) were a different menu every day (price included alcoholic drinks) and an awesome way to relax and chat with other guest - this is mainly how I made friends with others in the hostel, and also with people who worked in the hostel. Really relaxed atmosphere and lovely food - especially on Pizza Friday! I also went on one of the tours run by the hostel (around 30 euros) - another good way of hanging out with other hostel guests. Small group, driving around to different locations on the island. When I went, we visited the hot springs and a number of the lakes on the island, as well as viewpoints, the abandoned hotel (amazing place) and a place for lunch. We also went on a short hike. Our tour guide was really friendly and chatted to us about the island - I felt like a learnt a lot but also the day was so relaxed it just felt like hanging out. Day tours operated by the tour companies on the island were around 80 euros from what I could tell, so the hostel tour was really good value for money!

Pros: I can only repeat what I’ve already read here. It is such a lovely place, everyone working there is unbelievably kind and it feels like staying with friends. And the offered tours were super personal and fun. I will definitely come back!

Pros: Out of the blue is a great hostel, people are helpful and considerate, the location is perfect and they arrange excursions to the must visit places on the island, but in a much more fun way than normal. Living here is definitely a unforgettable experience.

Pros: This was our home away from home in the Azores. We felt so welcome. We valued that we could check in every day with our hosts to ask their tips for the island. The bed was the most comfortable bed of our four week trip! We didn't rent a car, but Casa da cidade turned out to be the perfectly located to explore downtown. All of the tours we booked were able to pick us up easily. The breakfast is delicious with locally sourced fruit, breads, butter and cheeses.

Pros: Nobody knows Sao Miguel like Pedro! Prepare yourself for the BEST local tips you will ever receive from a host. He has maps with recommendations for every part of the island, which he'll gladly print out and talk you through over breakfast. Breakfast, by the way, is incredible! Everything is fresh from the local farmer's market. Our favorite part of the day was sitting on his beautiful outdoor patio, sipping coffee, and chatting with Pedro and other guests. (Ask him to tell you some jokes about Terceira and Algarve, hehe.) This was our second visit to Sao Miguel, and thanks to Pedro, we found new favorite restaurants and places. Casa da Cidade is hospitality at its best.

Pros: Fabulous location! Pedro and Maria were excellent hosts. They put a spread out every morning of home-made jams, breads, cheeses, ham, two different kinds of butter! Great coffee and juice. Pedro can help direct you in Ponta Delgado, around Sao Miguel and the other islands. He has created maps of the area for sight seeing and restaurants.

Pros: What a nice host, Antonia Maria and Pedro are the best! Very warm-hearted, open-minded, attentive with heaps of useful tipps (and maps...=:) ). Highly recommended. Our room was to the garden, a bit noisy in the morning of incoming airplanes, but just close the window then. The town-house is wonderful renovated and furbished with style, breakfast is richful and fresh, sitting at the terrace. Bed is comfortable, bathroom rather small, but spotless clean.

Pros: We had a super nice stay in the Procyon hostel. We stayed in a mixed dorm in super comfortable beds. The breakfast was amazing. We loved the variety of bread, jam, fruits & cereals. Every other day they offered scrambled eggs or pancakes. The staff was simply amazing and welcomed us warmly. They did our laundry and lent us additional towels for the hot springs. The kitchen was perfectly equipped. Parking is free in the area around Procyon. The hostel is super stylish and seems to be very new. Thank you for a nice week at your place.

Cons: Only the WIFI in the dorms could be better. But it worked perfectly downstairs.

Pros: The guys at the hostel were just amazing. They did everything in order to please the guests. One of the staff was also a tour guide and gave us valuable tips. (Where to eat, hidden gems of the island etc.) Also on the last day our flight was early in the morning and we couldn't make it for the breakfast. The guys (without asking) offered us to pack some "take-away breakfast". It was a lifesaver at the airport.

Pros: Very cozy hostel. Feels like home. Staff is very friendly and they keep the place super clean as well. They organize occasionally some group activities which you can join.

Everything is super clean, and new, really comfortable beds with your own personal fan and light and small personal basket. Every day they make your bed and clean everything which is amazing, and a really nice lobby, patio and kitchen with a great bar and good beer selection. Ohh and the breakfast was really healthy and great. Location is ok with a nice walk through town to get wherever you need, anything in town is within excellent walking location

Pros: The staff were exceedingly helpful, polite and professional! They really helped with recommending restaurants and and things to do. The bed was extremely comfortable and the room was very quiet.

Cons: on site parking was limited but staff responded by taking responsibility for parking the car in an adjacent public parking space and provided on-site parking when it became available. It turned out to be a non-issue due to the staff's resolution, very customer centric!!

Pros: The hotel is excellent, the staff are gracious and professional and give great service. The spaces are decorated, very cozy and clean, in the evening there is live music in the hotel lobby, the breakfast is rich and good. Location is in the center of town on the boardwalk. Very good experience, thank you!

Pros: We really liked the hotel. Our tour guide kept saying it was 5 stars and the best one in Ponta Delgada. He was right. The rooms were very clean, modern and nice. The staff was lovely and the location was great. It's on the edge of the historic city center so it was an easy, and very quick walk. It's also located right on the port.

Pros: We really enjoyed our stay. The rooms are unbelievably clean and stylish, beautiful bay view from the balcony. Many details are considered. Breakfast is delicious - incredible juices, perfect local cheese and pastry. Special thanks for honeymoon compliment from the hotel and room decoration! Location is perfect for travelling across the island, also close to the airport.

Cons: Sometimes we felt too much attention from the housekeeping staff. The ladies are very nice and friendly and I admire how they manage to make the rooms so neat, but we probably expected that one visit per day is more than enough. Of course, this is easily solved by do-not-disturb-tag :)

Pros: We we staying in the Pico room on the top floor. A very spacious room with a nice view. It’s was very clean. We hardly saw anyone since it does not really have a reception. The cafe downstairs serves an excellent breakfast, very convenient. We loved our stay here!

Pros: I lived in a deluxe room Sao Jorge (all the rooms are named after the names of Azores islands) and it was an absolutely awesome experience. Hotel is very new (2018), light colors, the room is huge, spacious, full of light, with a kitchenette, two small balconies and 3 more huge windows. Beds are really good. Locations is the most central possible, close to the bars, shops, restaurants and a night club. Breakfast option in the hotel itself is not included, but you can enjoy café with perfect breakfast and lunch menu on the ground floor. Personnel is very friendly and helpful (even though not all of them have good English, all the questions I had were resolved immediately). To check-in ask ladies in café and they will help. There is an elevator! veeery helpful) There is no information on that, but you can ask for the beach towels (black ones). White ones management asks not to take to the beaches. I added some jazz music and aroma candles to my stay and it turned out to be my best experience ever. Already dreaming of coming back!

Cons: Be aware that the building is located on the cross-road so it's quite noisy to sleep with the opened windows, ear plugs do help. Cleaning is daily, but there might be some room for improvement. The standard cleaning protocol includes making beds, changing towels and washing dishes. Surfaces might be left with no attention. If you arrived by car be aware that there are no parking lots nearby as it's the "center of the center". Nearest free of charge parking we found was on the left from the Library (up the hill and to the left again). It's a 3 min walk and always has spare places.

Pros: The customer service was phenomenal. At any time throughout the day/night, Sissa was available. She was so helpful in planning my schedule on such short notice. Made my stay all the better! Highly recommend staying here.

Welcoming staff and very good value for money. The breakfast in the cafe downstairs is very good! Would definitely stay here again. Perfect for a few days in the city.

Pros: Fantastic location. Our room was clean and spacious with great AC, sizeable bathroom and bedroom and comfortable bed. Elevator if you need it. We stayed for two days and then moved somewhere else for the weekend because previous reviewer noted noise from a nearby nightclub. After checking out of AC we walked by at night and disn’t hear anything. We really regret leaving AC for another property.

Cons: The pillows are extremely hard and uncomfortable. The verbal intro we received to the room was pretty rushed, as were dinner recommendations. But we figured it out:)

Pros: I only have great things to say about our stay here. The place feels like you are renting a warm, authentic Ponta Delgada apartment. We loved the upstairs patio area to relax in/have a glass of wine after a long day of exploring. The owner is incredibly welcoming and helpful-he treats his guests like family which is awesome. Location is close to lots of restaurants and the downtown area. Loved the beautiful artwork in the house. I would definitely stay here again in a heartbeat. Thank you for the hospitality and great stay.

Pros: Owner very helpful, knowledgable about advice of what to see on the island. Lovely roof terrace, nice and quiet and very clean.

Cons: The bedroom was a little hot in the evening, there was a fan on the floor that wouldnt reach any breeze to the top bunk.

Pros: Very welcoming and cozy guesthouse. Perfect to visit the island of Sao Miguel, very close to the airport and the center of Ponta Delgada. Everything inside is very clean and well maintained, there is everything you need both in the bathroom and in the kitchen, you can also wash your clothes for free and rent extra towels other than the ones given with the room. The house also has a beautiful terrace perfect for relax, dinner or breakfast. Ah, for all guests there is everything needed for breakfast (local tea, milk, cereals and biscuits) for free. The host Pedro is always very kind and available to help, give advice and satisfy any requests.

Cons: The only thing, a bit noisy guests as well as the nearby lively street could disturb light sleeps.

Pros: this hostel is short to everything, just a few bocks from Harbour of Ponta Delgada. Information and communication very good, common areas big and nice, bathrooms are in corridor, and room have really good beds and are spacious easy check in with code or just pop up! and they have an elevator!

Most of all, Gonçalo is a wonderful person and very helpful giving always useful tips and info and preparing your breakfast. I loved staying here and meeting all other people there. If you enjoy talking about travelling I highly recommend staying at Nook Hostel in Ponta Delgada.

Pros: We took the private room and the private room has only another private room on the same floor, on the same floor is also a fully equipped kitchen, full size fridge, washing machine/dryer, and the whole kitchen/eating area is spacious. Private room (comfort) is better than the standard because of it's size and location.

The first oerson tbat I got in contact there was a very unprofessional guy,half naked, laying down on the sofa, freshly woken-up from drunkness, that called himself a “receptionist” - unable to help me with anything. he was very disrespectful when I told him that I found Dirty bedlinen on my bed(a bed that supposed to be double but instead I got a single one) and, when I complain about this, I was told that I travelled on my own so I don’t need a double bed. Have to mention that I pif for a DOUBLE TOOM WITH A DOUBLE BED! Old lift! Very unsafe too - got blocked in it for a while and, when I pressed the alarm, no one came! Breakfast wasn’t included even if I paid for it! Doors from the room have no looks! Felt UNSAFE during the whole stay! No one to do my check out. Harassing me after with e-mails in regards to the key! If you want to have a pleasant experience in Azores DON’T BOOK YOUR STAY HERE! Managed to ruin my trip! Don’t let ruin yours too!

Cons: We found the property a little too far away from the centre, a good 25mins walk uphill on very narrow pavements. Taxi costs around 6euros. We never had our towels changed or the bed linen the whole week we were there and no cleaning either which for the price we payed we did expect some service.

Walking distance to grocery stores, a shopping mall, two public gardens, public transit stops and old town (12 min or 5 euros by taxi). Hostess Rita is most pleasant, speaks very good English, prompt with online communications, extremely helpful in attending to our needs such as providing an air mattress, arranging taxi ride to a nature reserve, booking a cultural performance and giving neighborhood orientation. Pros: Harvesting our own vegetables and salad to use for dinner (the Bbq which we enjoyed so much) was very satisfying! They tasted extremely well too. Kudos for the entire staff/volunteers for the amazing work. The well equipped kitchen is an asset. Very friendly staff members, and thank you for the ride to the airport.

Cons: The highway... but nothing to do about that, the faciltities and the overall feel of the place make up for this. At night, there is hardly any traffic.

Pros: Room with plenty space. Good location near city center and airport. Garden, pool, my son loved chickens, fed them and collected eggs. Home farmed vegetables available for guests.

Pros: The best example of sustainability in hospitality. A real gem, wonderful and unforgettable! Couldn't even imagine how it could be better. The fresh vegetables from the own garden were one of the best surprises and simply amazing! Kudos and a million congrats to the committed people behind this paradise place!

Pros: The estate is beautiful and the rooms are lovely – ours had a working fireplace and plenty of wood to put in it. The kitchen is also very nice and clean.

Cons: Be forewarned that the bathrooms are not ensuite for most rooms. The location isn't terrible, but it's far from great – it's a 25 minute walk into the center of town, and the walk is not an interesting one.

Pros: Beautiful property with lots of gardens and areas to hang out outside. Nice grill area. Wonderful history of the family and Quinta. Love that they are going the eco tourism route! House and property are huge!

Cons: We were quite disappointed in the “pool”. Although I love the idea of having a pool without chemicals that naturally cleans itself, the photos were misleading. I wouldn’t have changed my mind if the photos on booking were realistic, it’s more of a pond with a lot of algae and lily pads and frogs, beautiful and relaxing but don’t count on swimming. Also, close to the highway, of course not their fault, but good to know before booking.

Pros: Amazing house, everything is sustainable, beautiful, organic food from the garden, beautiful rooms - And amazing owner!

Cons: The accomodation is next to the highway so it can be pretty noisy with the windows open and in the garden.

Pros: Everything was perfect. The owners are really nice and kind, they even offered us a ride to the city and gave us extra towels etc. The breakfast was alright, we enjoyed the fruits and the local cheese. Our room was well furnished and the bathroom was spacious. We enjoyed having a space to park the car near the house and seeing the planes.

Cons: Maybe too much attention during the breakfast, but that is only how we feel it, no offence.

Pros: Location is great and very close to city. Hospitality was great and the breakfast was excellent. The host was very accommodative and this place is a good value for the money.

Cons: The room was small for 3 guests with very little space left to move around with our baggage’s etc. This was our only constraint but for a short stay it is OK.

Pros: Staying on the Sao Miguel was wonderful, because of the beautiful nature (obviously), but staying in A House in Azores was an incredible bonus. The owners are so kind and helpful people! The house is very nice, bed was comfortable, room was really clean. Don't worry about the nearby airport. The sight of landing and taking off aircraft is amazing, but the noise does not disturb sleeping. The breakfast was prepared on time, according to our wish, and consisted of the delicious local food. During the breakfast we had a chance to discussed with Joseph (owner) about the island and about the life on it. He recommanded to us the best places to visit, where to eat and gave us many useful tips. Besides, he's such a fun man! We really enjoyed the stay and we highly recommend this accommodation!

Pros: It was a very nice experience. The staff was really kind and helpful. They told us what is worth seeing and visiting. What is more, the house is cosy and welcoming, so the atmosphere is great. The breakfast consisted of basic products, but there were tasty especially sweet buns. Overall, I really recomend to stay in this house, because it’s good quality for the price.

The last day we could have early breakfast (6:00 am) and be droped off to the airport. Definitely recommend this place!

Pros: We loved talking to the hosts during our breakfast. They gave us useful tips (car rental, buses, trips...) and we felt very welcomed there. Like we were visiting our friends or family. People from Sao Miguel are absolutely amazing.

Pros: The owners have been very friendly and helpful. They gave us a lot of informations and helped us to travel on the island. Even if the airport is close, offering a spectacular view of planes, the residence is very quiet. We enjoyed it a lot!

Pros: Very nice facilities. Close enough to Ponta Delgada, and even close enough from the airport to walk (though it rained when we arrived). Breakfast had good variety and the quality of the place was great in general

Pros: Henrique is a gentleman, we arrived late due a delay, and left us the breakfast available. On a particular day it was raining heavily and he offered to wash and dry our clothes. Due to high humidity he also offered the room service a day before it should have been done.

Cons: No Air-conditioning in the room, and although having a double bed, we had two single mattresses.
