Yet Portland also has fantastic history, and this coming together of the present and past is found at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Portland Downtown. Built in 1912, this hotel has been a destination for over 100 years.

We opted for an upgrade & our room was very spacious with a large bedroom and separate living room. They allowed us to get a late check out so that we could enjoy breakfast at Mother’s Bistro (inside the hotel). Our only complaint was the outrageous fee of $59 to park our car for the night. That’s double what most downtown hotels charge. But, that was the only negative.

The location was walking distance to many attractions, although the area was full of homeless in tents. I never felt threatened or was approached by anybody, but it was alarming to see so many tents and homeless pe...

Pros (+) The bed was nice.
Cons (-) The staff was nice but we was told that breakfast was from 6:30am-10am and we went downstairs about 945am and was told technically breakfast was over at 930. Then our room was cold because we couldn’t get our thermostat to switch from cool to heat.

Pros (+) Loved the pool and hot tub. Also enjoyed the food.
Cons (-) My room wasn't totally clean and I didn't like the dirty dishes that were always in the hall.

Pros (+) The hotel is in a great location and upon entering all you see is a grand lobby decorated completely for Christmas. The checkin/check out process was incredibly easy and the staff was friendly. Even got a free upgrade on the room since we were there for only a night which was a huge and wonderful surprise. The room itself was clean and modern and the bed made me want to stay forever. The hotel off...
