Room was really comfortable and very clean. My room was on the sea front and had a great view of the ocean as well as the surrounding area like the bull ring.
The closeness to the beach, the size of the room reception staff always helpful. Breakfasts where dis organized and on all the days the full compliment of choice was not available.
The hotel has signs of being recently re-furbished. I stayed there when previously owned by the Accor group. It is still a very "70''s" hotel - down to the organ player in the bar. But no complaints and ideal for arriving late at Oporto airport if you are travelling north
Location is excelent. Garden and pool great. Bathroom small, bath very small. Bathroom extract fan out of order.Bed mattress very hard.
the location and the pool The staff at the front desk extremely rud
The service was excellent; the rooms were clean and well appointed. Breakfast was very good. The garden: beautiful.
Excellent staff Free Internet None
Really nice hotel. Very clean & well maintained. Staff were excellent - very friendly & helpful. Great value for money. Hotel is at least 15 mintues walk from the beach. Hotel does provide bikes.
Great staff, very good hotel
Excellent accueil. Chambres très propres et bien aménagées. Finitions impeccables. Excellent service dans les chambres. Excellent petit déjeuner. Tous les critères d'un trois étoiles au meilleur niveau. Accès aisé grâce au métro de Porto. Location de vélos à un prix très faible. On parle le français. Aucun!
Very good hotel. Very friendly service personel. Clean and comfortable environment.
Quite, clean, good breakfast, easy access, staff kindness Not noticed
Best location opposite beach modern fishing port, close to old city centre (neither big nor particularly scenic), professionally built and managed hotel with staff going out of their way to contact us after departure for a pair of forgotten sunglasses! Next door casino gambling seems to be the main attraction, given that the ocean can be rough and no swimming pool is available. Metro line to Porto. Free WiFi in lobby only for 1 hour. Copacabana-style high rise appartement blocks lining the shore north of the hotel, not what you expect in a quaint Portugese fishing town.
The staf were friendly enough. This was a very over priced hotel for what you actually get. The room was tiny, no view of the sea, it was located over the airconditioning ducts, so very very noisy the entire time, was very let down by the price and room. i would not have paid €50 for the room, so was upset about having to pay €75!
Staff were excellent and spoke good english and were very helpful. Excellent buffet breakfast. Gorgeous location with spectacular sea views. Although very clean, the room was a little tired, particularly the bathroom, which could do with refurbishment.
A/C was turned off... at the afternoon my room was a sauna. The photo of the room i payed for was not the room i was given... not staying there anymore
Reception staff, cleanliness, casino oriented décor. Breakfast needs improvement. Although there was a good selection of breads, the cheese and cold cut selection should be improved, especially considering the excellent cheeses available in Portugal. Fresh fruit should be cut and ready to eat. Guests cannot be expected to cut and peel pineapples and oranges with butter knifes. The hotel should provide beach towels and free covered parking.
breakfast was really nice also loved the room with the terrace with sea view
Hotel clean and staff all very helpful. Central location handy for the shops and also the Metro system for a direct link into Porto and the airport
I was upgraded to a better suite In our original room, no shelves, so power points...we came from Australia with cameras, phones, computer etc need power point and hair straightener needed power point in bathroom. No face cloths either.
The beautiful setting, the excellence of the facilities, the friendliness of the staff and the proximity to the town and beach.
nice and cosy environment, good taste in decoration, helpful staff
Very good location, extremely nice staff. I didn't have a laptop with me, so when I asked about checking my email, they even let me in one of their ofices tu use their director's computer.
free internet good breakfast and meals all staff speak good english affordable restaurant with good wines , goed onbijt en diners betaalbaar restaurant met good-food en prima wijn wearing of rubber cap in swimmingpool is absurd there are plenty filters and pumps to clean the water, some people have more pubic hair than whats under the cap , some more outside space woulkd be nice there is no real garden near the pool outside pool would be nice also, the vieuw could be better if they kept the plants a little smaller , further no comments nice hotel
Pictures don't show how the hotel really is. Room was not cleaned properly.
The modern architecture in a very quiet environment A very basic breakfastbuffet. Although price-quality was good it could have eventually a bit more variety.
The hotel is in close proximity to the town centre and the metro station if wanting to get to Porto, although there is a short steep climb to get to it, staff were on the whole polite, friendly. The waitresses in the hotel were wonderfully attentive. Breakfast was continental style and well stocked and always plenty of space. The room was clean and respectfully comfortable. The hotel does need some modernisation, especially in the health suite area and decoration in the room Food in the restaurant was usually good, but expect very large portions and a lot of butter. It isn't always easy to get served in the bar area as staff are also serving in the restaurant at the same time so you have to be patient.
Well located if hiring vehicle to visit unspoilt surrounding area. Walking distance to beach and town.
Friendly staff, excellent breakfast, excellent room with great views
Very helpful and courteous staff. Well-run and good value for money. Private parking, good, varied breakfast for a two-star hotel. Very decent room for the money. Sadly, it is a good 30 minutes walk from the central area (20 mins to the nearest beach bar) - ie a six-euro taxi ride.
Very kind and helpfull manager and staff! Perfect. No.
Excellence of the staff and the lady who runs/owns hotel. Always took an intrest in our stay and spoke very good english. would use this hotel again.
the hotel is a very good standard.the breakfast is excellent with a rooftop view.the owner is very nice, very helpful with excellent english.lovely bar.
excellent staff and fully conversant in english, close to some good and great value restaurants, and the breakfast was more than just the usual continental - you actually got omelets - and they were warm!
The hotel is actually on the very seaside so in an excellent location, the staff was very helpful and the room was clean. The breakfast was also good. This is a good hotel for a reasonable price.
People at the reception desk were very friendly and helpful-especially about the newly introduced system to pay for the highways in Portugal. Hotel is located very convenient both to visit Porto and go to the beach. We got the electric key for the room that was encoded incorrectly. At the second day stopped working, so we couldn't enter the room. When we went to the reception they fixed it, but it was some inconvenience.
friendly staff, nice room Have not stayed in any other hotel in portugal, but comparing to the equivilant ones in Spain, the facilities were not as good. breakfast was very basic
Breakfast and the breakfast room is very boring.
I speak very little Portuguese but the excellent and helpful staff made my stay very enjoyable.I have used hotels in Povoa de Varzim before but never stayed here, I will be doing so in future. Anyone spending a few days in Porto would be well advised to slip up here for a night or two, it's so easy by Metro! Fantastic seafood available just around any corner from the hotel.
Great staff. Perfect location, Our room was fairly spatious and very bright. Very poor breakfast. Could be cleaner. Furniture is a bit outdated.
Great view, Nice room, Staff friendly, Pools great especially for the kids, Good buffet brkfst in morning. Would definitely reccommend with kids.
Calm countryside hotel with short distance to different histiric sites
Special thanks to lady who checked we in. Very excellent service
I found the staff to be friendly and courteous. The views from the hotel. You would really need to have your own transport as it is a 10 minute drive to the town/beach.
Location above a hill overlooking a fertile plain and the sea beyond. Spectacular views. Reception and dining room staff. Cleanliness. Rooms are a bit old and in need of renovation.
The view and calm surroundings (off season!), outside of major cities. Staff was helpful without being pushy. Only minor things: lack of waste baskets in handy places, shower curtain that was too long
the old fashioned good manners and service which is hard to find nowadays in hotels. Fabulous view of sea and countryside no complaints. Heated pool would be nice
Fantastic location, good rooms, not a jumbo-hotel, but personal service and kind people. All is very good, just 1 observation to the hotel: please do something about the 'parasol' at the pool. These cheap umbrellas from a coffee brand tend to tumble and land into your face due to the winds. So if there is wind (which tends to be the rule, due to the hilltop on which the hotel is located) you have to sit in the sun, or find schelter at the bar...
The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the rooms were very clean. The hotel's breakfast was very good and varied, with cereal, milk, apple juice, orange juice, water, fresh rolls and pastries with butter and jelly, ham, cheese, and something like chorizo, hard boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, bacon, coffee, tea, and yes, a functional toaster oven. The town was very cute and laid back, and lots of restaurants, bars and clubs near the hotel were open late. There is a beautiful beach within a 5 to 10 minute walking distance of the hotel (the sand is very coarse though, so you might want to bring some water shoes). There are also two metro stations that are only about a 10 to 15 minute walk from the hotel. We will def stay there again! This didn't really affect our stay, but some people might find it more important/annoying than we did: the rooms are outdated and smell like some little old lady's house (open a window). There was a safe in our room, but the person at the front desk said it was out of order. The toilet made a loud, strange sound for 15 to 20 seconds each time we flushed it. We went in June, and there was music playing outside from around 10:00/10:30 am until midnight from speakers mounted around town. You learn to tune out the noise of the music, though, and with the windows closed in the hotel, it's really not that loud. Still, if you're a light sleeper, ask for a room that's not overlooking the main street because the cars are very loud.
The staff was very helpful and friendly and most importantly the rooms were very very clean and well maintained.
Lovely hotel comfortable rooms very friendly man on reception who recommended a very good restauarnt nearby and served us drinks in the comfortable lounge when we returned.
Arrived very late at night to a very calm and quiet check-in after a long and involved travel of 15 hours, picking up car from the airport etc. Somehow it set the scene for the stay. Very well located. Parking a huge bonus. A great place to go to as an alternative to bigger Porto.
This was a nice old-fashioned hotel in the middle of Vila do Conde. The room was comfortable and well appointed. The breakfast was generous and good.
the service provided by the staff the air conditioning did not work
Location in middle of town.10 mins walk to river. 15 mins walk to beach.parking outside hotel Noise from road at back of hotel, cobbled road. no double glazing.( only at front) church bells every hour- very nearby not nice if a light sleeper.
The hotel was clean and well appointed, including secure car parking. The restaurant was excellent. The ambience was a little muted so not a great holiday experience, i.e. Hotel C is more a business than a holiday hotel. Also, the Spa was overpriced and poor.
Nice and Modern. Very nice bathroom with a very good shower. Only one chair in the balcony. There were a lot of flys in the breakfast room
Beautiful hotel, good facilities, welcoming
Nice modern hotel. The hotel is near a busy road and there was excessive road noise.
The very friendly and accomodating reception and bar staff. The Prices of food and drink in the hotel were very fair considering that it is a 4 star Hotel with very attractive modern interiors. There was an outside relaxing, breezy seating area overlooking the town nearby . The spa area and pool for guests was particularly well appointed. A very healthy breakfast was included. The quiet rooms with double glazing. And, very important for our needs that first night,it was very easy to locate the Hotel by hire car straight from Oporto Airport, and a short walk into the old town for sight seeing.
excellent food 5* quality, lovely modern hotel, immaculate throughout
Free internet access No internet access working in the rooms
The use of the spa and gym were included in the price. The breakfast buffet had loads of choice including sparkling wine. The room was comfortable and clean. The Jacuzzi was not working properly.
Cozy and stylish rooms. Nice ambience. Free internet access. Bar could be extended with some additional healthy food and wellness drinks. Internet access allthough free, not working in the rooms.
The rooms are nice. The spa fantastic. The breakfast very good. The staff bice. Also has a fairly well equippe gym.d Location isn't so great, but for us this was not really a problem. Beach is 15-20 min walk, city is 10 min walk.
I liked everything. From the friendly service to the lovely vineyards, from the swimming pool to the great and comfortable room. It was a very good surprise to find such outstanding value for money “quinta” in the middle of the charmed Portuguese Countryside. The coffee served during the breakfast was of excelent quality, but I would love some Portuguese Cakes (Cenoura ou Amendoas) to take with it.
Nice place with a good atmosphere!
Staff absolutely oriented to customer.
Nice and charming family hotel, a nice place to be. Grapes ans kiwis above your head everywhere. Friendly and helpfull staff. Good breakfast. Good price/quality, but don't expect great luxury. The bed (ans shower) were to short, I felt like a giant and I am only 1m84. The breakfast was nice, but a bit more variation would be good. You need a car to get there.
Our room had its own balcony with a view over the surrounding countryside.
the staff was very friendly and they were good with children there was lots of space for the children to play
Beautiful setting on the Caminho Portugues. The owner, Antonio, was friendly, helpful and spoke English. We were very comfortable and the surroundings were quite luxurious.
Excellent value for money and very friendly and helpful staff
the wine the weather
exceptionally friendly hosts who made you very welcome and had a realm of extremely useful local information, excellent home cooking, the beautiful gardens
It is a lovely hotel .Clean room , gorgeous gardens. Breakfastwas great. The location, we think, is poor which is a shame as after reading the reviews we expected better. The flights overhead and road traffic were very noisy. We stayed in November, and although had a free standing heater , the room got cold overnight.
We relaxed, spent time with our children who flew in from London. One room was a little musty. But we were able to switch rooms with no problem
We were happy with the beautiful surroundings and the perfect hospitality.
Overall atmosphere of the place, sizes of rooms, beautiful large garden, good breakfast Hot water takes 5 mins to come (probably only in some rooms, long pipes), owners dog is superb but you hate him in the morning when he barks:)
Quiet, relaxing, beautiful gardens. Lovely hosts Trying to find it in the dark. Although that was my problem being very tied from flight.
The hotel was like a breath of fresh air after staying in national branded hotels
The gardens and the relaxed atmosphere. The hosts were very friendly and helpful.
The very friendly owners and the very nice house and garden. Beautiful environment and rooms, full of history and nostalgia. Dinner reservation on location is possible and quality is very good. There is some noise due to planes coming from- or going to Porto airport, but during the night it is quite. Big problem was finding the place. The correct address reeds: Rua Benemerito Antonio Azevedo Santos and not Rua Antonio Azevedo dos Santos as given in the reservation document. Since there are several streets in the area containing words "Antonio", "Azevedo" and or "Santos" in several combinations, the car navigation equipment will get confused and guide you wrong. The car entrance to the parking in the garden is in Rua de Tras.
Very nice people who care to make your stay special. Nice and quiet environment and lots of places to see in the surround.
