Room size Worn electrical outlets.
Clean, up to date rooms and friendly staff were greatly appreciated. Herd of horses staying upstairs was disruptive in the early morning. Not the hotel's fault.
Great staff! Very friendly and helpful. Clean rooms and good breakfast! Would stay there again in a heartbeat.
We have been staying in this hotel for the last 4 yrs love it a lot. The people are all so nice Could do without any children
Thank you for the laundry facilities. After a week of hiking in wet forests, with minimal space for packing extra clothes we badly needed to do a load of laundry to keep us going for the next week. Needed more animal heads in the lobby. At least a squirrel to keep the moose company.
Beds were comfortable, rooms clean, I like that the sitting area was separate with a separate tv from the bedroom. Some of the staff had no idea how to give directions and would only recommend one restaurant. The lack of nearby restaurants, except McDonald's was a a negative.
The hotel is located right on the edge of Duluth near a small ski hill. Our plans were to explore Duluth in the bitter cold. This was a different trip for us. I was seven days post op surgery for the first time ever. The staff was friendly and our room was located next to the elevator which I actually needed. We chose a king room with separate living area that had two TV's a couch and arm chair. The set up was perfect. There is a pool and hot tub with adult hours from 11pm to midnight. The temps were -14 in the morning with a high in the single digits both nights. Indoor activities were bound to happen. Breakfast served from 7-10:30 on both mornings we were there. We opted to skip any housekeeping for our stay but there were 3 options. There is a gym, a nice fireplace seating area and coffee around the clock in the lobby. We usually stay in Grand Marais Best Western and ski Lutsen (further north) but again no physical activity this trip. Neat, clean, up north feel hotel. We will be back. The parking lot is extremely small. There were pickup trucks with attached trailers taking up anywhere from 2 to for additional spaces parked diagonally. This is not acceptable. The first night when we came back after dinner we circled the lot three times and there was zero places to park. Since I had surgery and it was bitter cold, slippery and had snow this made the trip from the car to the nearest door virtually impossible. I explained my displeasure with the night staff and all he could do was say he was sorry. Not good enough. The next evening we came back at 5pm to guarantee a parking space. The three employees on duty at that time were shocked at the fact that the young male employee the night before made no effort to rectify the situation. To make a long story short the front desk staff for the overnight shift needs training in customer service and follow through. The women that helped me the second night knew how to handle the situation and made sure it was rectified. I was impressed and told them so. We will definitely stay there again.
Room was very weird, windows and closet very dirty.
Very clean and nice rooms. Sleep number bed, but the control to adjust the bed didn't work.
Restaurant options, indoor pool, and wonderful room with great features and complimentary items.
Manger was helpfull and very nice A/C had a tough time keeping up
Location was decent in terms of each part of the city. Com for table bed... that's about it. Elevator was still rising with the door open. Wallpaper was peeling off all over the bathroom. No breakfast included. Bathtub faucet sprayed water everywhere when on shower mode. Room design was awful, you have to cross the toilet right in front of the bathroom door to get to the sink and tub. The hot tub was missing over 50 percent of the water so the jets were spraying everyone in the face. Small parking lot so we had to park across the street at a rundown bowling alley. Curtains let in a lot of light. Venting system would never shut off even on auto fan so room got dry over night. For how much this cost this was embarrassing. Will not be going back.
The location was nice/convenient. The bar/restaurant on the top floor is such a diamond in the ruff. What a spectacular view. However, I think you are missing the boat on what the bar on top could be. We went up to enjoy the view and a cocktail or two. We sat up there for two hours while we waited for the rest of our party. We were only waited on once. Five of us sat there with empty cocktail glasses and could not get the young man to even look at us. We had menus in our hand and would have love to order a few appetizers. It didn't happen. And the black metal railing the separates the windows from the rotation is terribly dirty. Rooms in need of updating. Hallways are dirty.
Nice view. (from our room) wasn't as great for another couple we met. But they had a dog. Coffee in morning No cheap breakfast. Staff interaction was not bad. Just not fantastic either. 3/5.
The room was clean for the age of the facilities. The staff were not friendly or even pleasant. The fact that there was not a breakfast, for $100 a night I'd say thats a rip off.
Staff was good, great view from room, revolving restaurant was great Building a little dated, but still a great place
Thank you, Kayak for a great deal.
The hotel was nice overall. Our room was clean and put together well, the restaurant was cool with the overlooking views, and the hot tub/pool was relaxing. We booked and paid for a "tower with lake view" room, but our room was given to someone else and we ended up with a city view, which was a huge disappointment.
I loved how close it was to downtown shops and event areas so I could walk everywhere and I don't have to worry about parking or driving. The room was small but cozy. I had a special deal throigh Kayak so that's why I chose this hotel and I had a pleasent time for my stay. Needed a little cleaning in icemachine and vending areas. Also the elevators where a bit rikity for being a hotel with rooms on the 10th floor. But the biggest annoyance for my visit was the staff. When I went to check in the girl obviously didn't understand that I had already purchased my room and was going to charge me for a whole other booking. So a tip would be to double check that the receptionist follows what you're telling them and not making you pay extra for your room.
This is a beautiful hotel right on Lake Superior. It is clean and well decorated. It is just on the other side of the aerial lift bridge, so convenient to everything in Canal Park. The breakfast was substantial and tasty.
I liked the comfort of the bed and it was clean and new. I didn't like the fact that there was no pay per view.
loved the harbor view of the marina from the room! breakfast was a good assortment to choose from nice to have a balcony the staff were very nice and efficient too the room had nice decor, and hallways had great old pictures of the boathouse and area the whole hotel was very clean Pricey! a lounge/restaurant would have been nice, they had a small bar that only served a few types of beer. Anti smoking but that is the City of Duluth, the property is small so you dont have to go far to smoke off property
Complimentary breakfast, and they serve quite a bit of food. Good location close to Canal Park. It is a little bit pricey.
very inviting and friendly. have stayed here twice and would do it over again and recommend to others. here with my mother.
Perfect weekend away with my husband and toddler. The rooms are clean and spacious. Loved the balcony, we watch the ships pull in and out my son loved this. The pool was great, shuttle service was convenient and the breakfast bar had plenty for all the choose from. Would recommend this place in a heartbeat!
Staff Kate was nice. She did her best job to fix the mistakes the other staff didn't do. The hotel is nice but in a odd area looking out at a big boat yard and a few run down houses. When confirming my stay the staff didn't do anything they said. We got stuck with a room looking at a big blue roof. They did give us another room which was made for a wheelchair person so the bathroom shower had no tub so when taking a shower the water ran all over. This is an $90 to $100 hotel tops anything over that your wasting money sorry to say.
A clean, comfortable, roomy inn with complementry breakfast. Great room and bed. Located in a unique area of Duluth with a view of ship traffic. Walking distance to multiple restaurants and waterfront attractions. Would seek out a reservation there in the future.
This hotel is tucked about 6 blocks from Canal Park. Easy walking to shops and restaurants. Super clean and very nice hotel. We stayed at the Harbor Suit - awesome views from all windows and large patio to watch the boats. Our family of 4 was wowed!
We had a pleasant view of the harbor and enjoyed all of the amenities like the free hot breakfast, free internet, lounge area, free parking etc. pool looked inviting. Place was clean and staff were friendly. I would recommend this place. Beds were too soft.
Staff was very courteous and respectful. Excellent breakfast. Great rooms
The staff gave me royal treatment. From check in to check out. I didnt like my room, and they gave me the one I wanted and did so smiling. They are gracious and very hospitable. These people are not just going through the motions. That I had to leave.
Location. Front desk guy on a Friday around 3pm. We got a hall room, the pool area rooms are probably really loud. Housekeeping knocking on doors loudly in the early morning. Lots of young teenage boys. Elevators.
Staff was very friendly My window leaked a lot of cold air so I had to pull the shade to the room warm
Very nice & well managed hotel. Close to everything, and quite comfortable. I can see where if you had a room by a pool it might be too noisy. We did not, we had a room with an amazing view of the harbor and we had a lovely and very relaxing time. Would recommend and we will come again.
The location is great, close to Canal Park and the Duluth sights that most tourists want to see. We've been staying here on family vacations for many years and this hotel just feels comfortable, like a favorite pair of Levis.
Location was good for doing things in downtown Duluth. Staff was friendly, room was clean, if on the small side. Room was too close to the 8th floor pool. Good luck taking a nap or sleeping anytime between 6am and 10:30pm.
Our room overlooked the atrium pool. During pool hours (almost ALL our time there), so unable to take a nap at 4:00 after hawk watching. And until the pool closed at 10:30, VERY noisy. I would stay here again ONLY if could get an interior room away from the pool.
good value - lots of amenities and close to everything.
Overall it is a good hotel. Clean, room was clean and smelled good. Good area for walking to bars/restaurants, getting to the pier, etc and not far from the highway. Front desk person was nice and even suggested a few spots for hiking for us. We stayed on a level that had a pool and it was pretty loud. They have two pools I believe and they take up the exact center of the floor and have rooms surrounding the pool with maybe 10 feet of space on each site. We could hear conversations going on at the pool from our room with the TV on, so definitely ask for a room not on a pool level if you want a little more quiet setting. Overall a good hotel though.
The room is clean. The fridge is too nosie.
Clean, friendly staff, lots of amenities, nice rooms. Pool was loud until close and then it was nice and quiet. Great place. Will stay again! Nothing
It's proximity to great attractions and sight seeing.
Staff very friendly. Hotel is clean. Nice reception for the runners. They jacked the rates up for the marathon. Over $300 per night? In Duluth? Really. It's a Holiday Inn. Our floor was the 10th. Lots of noise echoing through the halls until about 10:30 when the pool closed. No doorways on the hall to block noises from the pool area.
Good value for money. Close enough location to main attractions but only if you have a car. Interesting place decoration wise. Helpful and very nice staff. Got a complementary upgrade. Thin walls. Could be meat at breakfast.
The bed was great! The room was clean and orderly. I'll use this location again. The check-in parking is not good, at all. Having found no place to park on the upper level parking lot, I drove to the middle level parking lot where I found a space. Having no access to the lobby, aside from the upper level parking, I had to climb the snowy hill to enter the lobby for check in. Upon reaching the sidewalk to the entrance, there were two spots designated for check-in parking. Both spaces were filled and the signs were not visible due to the size of the vehicles in them. The heating/cooling system in the room was a challenge. Setting the heat to 68 caused it to warm up considerably, more than expected. Shutting it off didn't help much. I tried the A/C for a while, just to cool the room off. I felt quite foolish for having to use the A/C in the winter but I was sweating otherwise. Having fallen asleep before 10, I awoke to the room above being occupied. The people were quiet but every step they made was accompanied by a squeek/noise from the floor. Thankfully they didn't move about the room much.
The workers were very helpful, the hot tub was amazing..Great stay for a weekend away That hill leading up to the inn was difficult.Should post bigger signs stating there is an easier way to get up the just around the corner..Slide all the way down while going up..that's the only negative thing to say.
Good value for the price. Driveway/parking area needs fixing. Some pretty big holes.
the staff was very friendly and very helpful, the pool was excellent our daughter loved the arcade and the pool nothing
I really liked the theme of the rooms, the hot tub and pool area were nice and the variety of breakfast foods was good. The dining area for breakfast is a little cramped, our rooms floor seemed like it slanted and bed was very hard.
Staff was nice. Pool was fun. Hot tub was clean. Room was clean, view was decent. Check in and out was easy. Parking lot was incredibly difficult to get into in the winter. Bathroom had no soap, shampoo or conditioner. Floors were uneven. No towels in pool area. No supervision of hot tub area-underage kids and big messes.
The price was great. The pool and hot tub are not near each other. No gluten free friendly options for breakfast, smells moldy.
The staff was very friendly and check-in was efficient. The pool was so heavily chlorinated we couldn't even go in to look at it because of the overpowering smell. The "deluxe breakfast" was store-bought muffins and bagels and some waffle mix with syrup. The two cereal options, fruit loops and I think raisin bran were chock full of sugar. No coffee mugs or glass cups but Styrofoam for everything. "Free breakfast" is fine, but don't call it deluxe. The beds and room were mostly fine.
Amenities like hot tub, great location Room was smelly, sink wouldn't drain, shower curtain was disgusting
Nice location, quick check-in. Somewhat modern rooms. Bed fell off bedframe, pillows were bad. The wooded decor seems dated, out of place.
Loved the cozy feeling and location Just didn't like all of the steps
The keys didn't work well. Otherwise everything else was good. Karen
Kids like pool and the morning breakfast. Great location, walking distance from many places. Bed could be more comfortable
Location!! Happy hour!
We spent two days with the fireplace and in-room whirlpool. Cold and cloudy, but the balcony still afforded a wonderful view of Superior. The staff was extremely helpful and down right sweet. And that's always a plus! That we could not stay longer.
Location is fabulous Clean Friendly staff Efficient staff
They advertise that each room is a suite which is false. Our room was smaller than a standard hotel room and had no separate room The hotel staff member was not very accommodating. We switched hotels after the first night bc we have small children and need a separate space.
Spacious room with two queen beds. Great view of Lake Superior. Walking distance to multiple restaurants and attractions.
The free bike rentals were very useful, the free kayaking was fun. The location is great, nearby lots of good restaurants and walking/biking distance from canal park. Room and staff were wonderful, and you can't beat free Smores by the firepits outside! Great for a couple, or for friends. The air coming from the a.c. unit in our room smelled very sour, we didn't notice this until we woke up the next morning and could smell it in the air, easily traced back to the a.c.. I also wish that the kayaking wasn't limited to the small slip in front of the resort. My only other complaint was all the drunks who were hanging around the fire pits and airing out their dirty laundry, but that wasn't the resort's fault.
The moment I walked in the door I was greeted with friendly smiles. The staff was superb. The location is amazing with spectacular views. They offer many things for guest to do such as kayaking, taking peddle bikes around the town, s'more kits by a fire at night, and all included in your stay. My new favorite spot to stay in Duluth.
Love the decor and location!
The location was perfect and the hotel was fantastic!
Always quality. Very comfortable. No meat w breakfast. Timberlodge was closed for the season.
the price compared to every other property on the canal. The coffee was Luthern Church weak, I could see the bottom of the cup. It was a little weird having a room with no windows, but ok since hardly ever in the room. The layout was a bit odd, couldn't watch TV from bed, or couch for that matter. Toilet was incredibly short, low to the ground.
Great staff; Location superb - closest hotel to Convention Center. I loved the warehouse-reftrofit character of my room. I could even open my window to hear the sounds of the harbor. Loved the place. Cleaning supplies left a "minty-grapefruit-petro" smell that was noticeable upon arrival.
The interior room was very spacious and included a kitchenette with a full sized refrigerator. The only time I missed having a window was waking up in the morning to darkness. Other than that, I never thought about it. The range hood fan was perfect for some white noise while sleeping. The room felt very private, and the location was ideal. Also included free parking.
The convenience of Canal Park the hotel is close to everything. Since the Hotel was remodeled from a warehouse all interior suites are high ceiling dungeons. The rooms had the decorating touch of some of the former warehouse workers who then sold there household furniture to add to the ambience. The exterior of the building was only missing the touch of a couple of drunks by the front door. To be fair it was twenty below wind-chill that day. So in the fall they are probably there. The walk across a busy street with luggage did add to my excitement while I stayed there. Oh I almost forgot the breakfast seemed like it was sent over from a near by restaurant there yesterday left overs.
The bed was comfortable The staff were rude. The hotel is dated and dingy. It's inconvenient in regards to parking not only the location of the lots but the fact you have to place a parking slip on your dash and provide the hotel with your license plate and car info. A little redundant to save time for their staff not their customers. The staff was lazy and entitled especially the day manager. Hotel is very dark and features colors such as hunter green. It has an odor and generally is not clean and overpriced. But the worst part is the staff.
Clean rooms. Nice staff. Great stay. N/a N/A
Facilities were clean and comfortable and the location was convenient. There was renovation going on so there wasn't a full breakfast menu - missed the normally great breakfast.
I didn't like that there wasn't any room service.
I especially like the option of bringing my food up to my room to finish it at a later time. Robes for a quick swim in their Salt water pool, quite inside and out. Excellent location in downtown Duluth. The whirlpool water was not hot enough for my taste, but then you can't have everything....
People, room, accommodations, all was wonderful!
The club room access and the beverages that were available 24hrs. Parking was included, connected to the ramp. Location close enough to walk to many attractions. No dislikes.
staff very helpful club on 6th floor was closed most of tues.
Great service from beginning to end. A special thanks to Front Desk manager Chris Powell for going out of his way to make my stay top notch.
My husband and I were in Duluth celebrating our wedding anniversary. The location of the Sheraton is wonderful as it is in walking distance to several restaurants and bars. The staff was very friendly and when we arrived back in our room the evening of our anniversary we had a complimentary dessert waiting for us along with a card. I was a bit pricey to stay here, but I guess you get what you pay for.
Hot tub was filthy only holds three. The glasses in our room were dirty and one of the complimentary water bottles was opened and half gone.
The room, View, clean room. Breakfast could have a few more options.
Clean. Close to Duluth. Quiet. Good size room. Nice kitchenette. Second comfy chair would be nice.
Our room had a gas fireplace, a fabulous jacuzzi tub, comfy bed and linen, soft towels, a balcony that had a lake view and quite a bit of privacy. Close enough to downtown and canal park via the lakewalk trail (about 15 min walk to Fitger's plaza and 20 to canal park) and a 5 min bike ride, but out of the busy hustle and bustle of downtown. It was a fabulous weekend! Would definitely go back! The breakfast was really mediocre. Not a deal breaker at all tho. Try Duluth Grill in west Duluth. Amazing, local sourced food with a garden in the parking lot!!!
Size of room, comfy bed, good breakfast Mirror had someone else toothpaste spray on it. Would like option to rent movie. Better list of food places that deliver.
As always this hotel is fantastic!
friendly staff at reception desk, clean hotel, spacious room with a kitchen area and lots of work space, laid out very well. Nicely decorated, very clean. Excellent. Loved our stay here. location is not by the lake, outside of the building a bit odd colors, but inside is wonderful.
Good value for the money. Large rooms. Very clean. Excellent free breakfast.
I liked how clean and neat things looked. It still looks new. The decor is modern and the breakfast was pretty good. We were checked in by a nice woman who asked us how the room looked when we came back down. I really was getting irritated the next morning (Sunday) how loud the cleaning staff was. The girls hanging around on my floor just couldn't wait for us to leave so they could clean our room. They made that obvious by running out to check every time my door opened. Then they would shout to another staff, "nope not yet"! It made me feel unwelcome and this was well before 11 AM. I had my 3 year old with and every time I'd go down the hall I'd hear them swear or listening to loud rap. Just made the staff seem kind of low quality.
Ver y good Exelent
This was our first trip with our dog. The staff was great...very nice and helpful. We would definitely stay there again. It was clean and quiet.
Great place to stay while visiting Duluth. Further out from the city but not to far. Newer facility, with good free breakfast and hospitality nites.
Very clean and comfortable, acommodating staff and what a location!
The room was very nice. The location was within walking distance of every thing I wanted. The view was awesome. I enjoyed the in room hot tub and the balcony was relaxing. Overall I was very impressed and I am confident I will return. The bed was only average.
Right on the river, super clean, all the amenities.
While we were in the lobby, one of the owners gave us a friendly hello and we got to share about our time in the hotel and learned a little about the hotel's history. It was a great pleasure to get to meet the owner while looking out such a beautiful view. Highly recommended!!!
There were stains on the beds, we tried 2 different rooms. The odor in the room also, not sure what it was, but did not smell clean. Would not recommend. They were nice enough to refund our money and we found another place to stay that was clean.
Good location. Went there for some conferences at DECC. Walked to the conference center and back. The day of checkout I discovered my car battery was dead. Gentleman at the front allowed me to leave my car in the lot until I was done at the conference and come back to deal with it. Breakfast was good. Doughnuts, cereal, muffins, toast, Jimmy Dean sandwiches and a variety of beverages. Room seemed clean overall. Would have liked a list of all the channels so I could find something to watch without having to flip through every single channel very slowly. Room was a little chilly when I came in so I turned on the heat. After the heater was on for a bit it warmed up very nice.
This motel is located downtown and walking distance to canal park and the DECC, our purpose for the stay. It is dated but included wifi and breakfast. With that said our Wifi didn't work as they were recovering from a big storm the night prior. They ran out of milk (!) at breakfast and simply put up a sign saying so. The toast I defaulted to smelled sour in toaster and when I went to butter it, saw that it was mouldy. Because of the events in town we paid at least $100 more than what it is worth. The staff was friendly though, especially the young woman who set me up in the office so I could print our show tickets when their internet was down. We paid a lot for a very basic and old hotel that didn't meet breakfast or Internet/wifi expectations.
Very clean and comfortable. Within blocks to the shore. It's really not a Best Western. Price was high, front desk clerk not very friendly.
We were across the parking lot from the office/check in desk, and the wi fi didn't reach our room. The parking lot, like much of Duluth, is on a huge slant, and if we would have brought our Harley, we wouldn't have been able to park in their lot. The room seemed clean enough, but very VERY old and the bed skirt on the bed was ripped noticeably. We walked to dinner, and as we were walking back to the hotel, nearing sunset, we didn't necessarily feel safe doing so. This is a dark and dingy hotel that charges too much. If we hadn't been coming into town at 6pm and had more time to look for other lodging, we would have passed this place by in a minute. Keep looking is our best advice.
The coffee The room was small bed was small and uncomfortable garbage still had used hygiene products in it the tv remote didn't work and the door outside our room was not functioning properly and rattled the room when people used it
Staff identified my reservation and confirmed my accommodations on the phone prior to checking in, but we didn't get what we had reserved when we checked in. The management did knock off $20.00 on the bill. Staff changed our accommodations from 2 double beds to one double bed. The room was very small, near the exit door where you can hear the slamming of the door, tv remote didn't work and the street traffic could interrupt sleep. Room 123.
great price and location poor ventilation in the rooms, no fridge, walls were dirty
Good location, rooms were clean
I reserved 5 rooms for our group. When we arrived they only had 1 room reserved for us. Fortunately I had the confirmation for the 5 rooms, and they had 4 vacant rooms so could accommodate us. The office person said that when I reserved them it should have automatically updated in their computer. This caused some tense moments but it was resolved. The rooms were fine, and it was good location, with a good restaurant nearby.
Room had a musty odor but hotel is in downtown area
Close to hwy 35 and canal park Parking really was not great winter will be really really bad. There were hairs in the tub . No mini fridge. The price was 162.00 not even close to worth the money. And so much police activity
