Staff were polite and accomodating, they provided us umbrellas when it was raining and recommended a good diving centre to us. Breakfast was quite decent (but not the coffee!) with a respectable selection.
Too much: 1. First the poor location. On an island holiday, I expect to be able to walk to the beach from my reasonably expensive resort. However, the beach near the hotel was down a steep staircase and not fit for swiming because of dead corals and rocks. To go to the beach was a 10 minute shuttle bus away, followed by a 1km trek to the public beach. The shuttle bus was scheduled so your holiday is bounded by the bus schedule - so unrelaxing! Second, All the rooms were up a small hill so it was a bit of a trek up and down (probably not suited for those with weak knees or mobility issues!). Third, there are no restaurants (or anything to do) nearby, and food at the hotel was okay - but as a vegetarian there were limited options (at a heavy price tag). Finally, worst of all, the staff at the activities counter convinced us that the Marine Park (which the hotel provide free coupons to) was a "must visit" and so "beautiful". We rented snorkelling gear for RM40 and went. It was a horrible experience, on my birthday, which meant a whole wasted afternoon! The beach at the Marine Park was not clean - plastic waste everywhere! - and the supposed great marine life you can see by snorkelling was nothing but more DEAD CORALS. It was also so hard to get into the see because the dead corals were so sharp. It was depressing.
Everything except there was no entertainment at night. The lobby area is Vert quite snd boring at night.
The staff was very welcoming and helpful. The location is good, not perfect, but it has some perks: for example, there were very few people in contrast to Tarras hotel. The rooms were cleaned daily.
There is no beach close to the hotel, so you need to ask the driver at the hotel to take you to the public beach. It’s only 5 min drive, but still.
Facilities and location.
Unfortunately I couldn’t recommend this place at all. The location is so isolated. You need to get a bus to the beach which only goes a few times a day - as a result we couldn’t leave the beach and got horrifically sun burnt as there was limited shade. This ruined our entire trip to Malaysia. The resort was a ghost town during the day and also at night. It was a bit creepy to be honest. There didn’t seem to be a manager in the resort. All staff seemed extremely junior and didn’t really care about the guests of the resort. Compared to other places we had stayed in the country, the restaurant was extremely overpriced for the quality of the food. There was a bar that was sitting there gathering dust. It could’ve offered guests something to do.
