room was spacious, hotel staff were lovely no hot water at all in room, was told this was due to everyone taking shower/bath at same time, however i tryed several times. Dined in stakes n stuff within hotel, waited 1 hour 15 minutes between starter and main course, ended up having to cancel food after starter. Hotel room itself was good size however wallpaper falling off walls and cleanliness not how i would like it
The room was clean and quiet. The breakfast was very good
Wonderful staff at the Normandy and the food in the restaurant is great. It is a bit on the retro side but the rooms are clean and comfortable, and we know we can leave or car safely while we are on holiday. The only down side was the transport back from the airport. There wasn't enough room for all the people who required transport to get on.
The shower was excellent!!! The room looked old and worn. Our bathroom wasn't very clean. There was hair and dirt on the floor.
I liked the relaxed and efficent way the staff took time to treat you as an individual guest.
The staff were very helpful The decor was a little tired
It was comfortable and reasonably clean The room had a damp smell to it and the bathroom was in need of refurbishment
Clean, warm comfortable Decor a little tired
proximity to the airport restaurant staff
transport to and from airport friendly bar staff. small cramped room dirty carpet not the room shown on internet.
Excellent breakfasts, overall atmosphere of hotel, immaculately clean rooms, very comfortable bed, general facilities in room and hotel, location which is next to station. None
Very central location and comfortable room Tricky to find the retaurant serving breakfast
Great hotel after refurb None
Great location and value. Beds are comfortable and staff are really friendly. Wifi is terrible
The central location in Glasgow. The two single rooms we booked were very small with no air conditioning. The one upholstered chair was thread-bare. With the window open for fresh air the traffic noise was unbearable. The hotel has a very rigid no refund policy so be very careful when paying up front. We would not stay at the Grand Central again nor would we recommend it to our friends.
Parking available No paper after request/hotel badly finished/no thought put into layout eg large bathroom -towels and rail at opposite end from bath and basin
very central for shopping rooms were very poorly heated! very cold!
Staff could be more friendly and helpful. Also wash cloths and more soap in the rooms would be nice.
The sevice in general was poor and too slow and will need to sharpen up considrabley.
The location and hotel are amazing. This hotel is right next to the train station and a very loud night club. It is very loud.
classic building and location - lots of history and interesting architecture
Nice room. And public areas are impressive. Bit old fashioned Upper floors could do with a make over
Handy to bus station Fire alarm going off at 4.10am! Bathroom quite small and old-fashioned. We had executive room which was clean but Thought hotel rooms would have been more modern. Hotel positioned further away from restaurants and pubs than we thought.
Clean and tidy Wireless internet wasnt good enough
Had a good rate for a large comfortable room. Swimming pool.
Very comfortable. Staff at reception friendly and helpful
The Staff were very welcoming. The swimming pool and sauna were just a nice size and the hotel was generally great. The price of the breakfast.
It was a very nice hotel but the shower did not work the shower in the room did not work
The location was good, within walking distance of the shopping centre. The swimming pool was great. The room decor was dark and very dated and the shower control was loose on the wall. The whole bathroom made me feel terrible and I didn't touch the bath and the shower during my stay. (Instead, I used the swimming pool shower) The sofa chair in my room was dirty and I even didn't put my clothes on it. My bedsheet was not clean with two small stains, so I had to call them to change it. I was not happy about the room overall and didn't think it's worth the money I paid. I am not going to stay there again.
Good size double room reasonably well appointed with good provision of room facilities and very comfortable. Content with stay - nothing not to like.
location was excellent no tea/coffee making facilities in room over £10.00 to get it in your room
Nice swimming pool, excellent breakfast. Pool closed shortly after 6pm on Saturday evening.
The location of the hotel is great! The staff were friendly and our room was nice. The leisure facilities could definitely use some renovations. The changing rooms, steam room, and general pool/leisure area were not very clean. The Jacuzzi was not working when we first arrived, though it was available for our last day. I would definitely consider staying here again if these facilities are improved.
comfortable, attentive staff, good location no kettle in room
made my stay very comfortable when checking in there was a problem with the system but we did get a free drink while we waited so no problem
We enjoyed our stay. The hotel was very innovative with electronic check-in and room controls. We loved the shower! The food was delicious and staff were friendly and courteous. We like how the various spaces for relaxing, reading, meeting, and computer use sort of `unfolded' as we explored the first two floors of the hotel. Difficulty in dropping off bags - no apparent place to stop car for that purpose. Parking was a bit far but ok.
Different Prices Cold hot breakfast Tablet that operated everything didn't work- staff members admitted that wi-fi was poor. Aspirational but failing
The room was amazing. The bed and the mood pad especially.
the room was very modern and the films were free
Very efficient, clean and comfortable. Staff approachable and efficient. Wouldn't use if more than 2 night. Room could be cramped if 2 sharing
the room was clean and fine for one person Wakened at 4am by other guests on the 6th floor and had to call in a complaint. Didn't sleep again which wasn't ideal as I was down in Glasgow for a business meeting the whole of Monday and felt really tierd. Not impressed!
Room was excellent, with excellent facilities
Very efficient, staff friendly and very helpful Would prefer to have tea/coffee making facilities in room
Staff were friendly, helpful and enthusiastic. Bedrooms were small but perfectly sized for our needs. Bed was very comfortable. In room technology was quirky and fun. Bar - cafe - canteen was modern and exciting, with a well curated bar selection and good food. Good views from 6th floor and up. Despite the bar being busy well into the night, we were not disturbed in our room by noise or light pollution. There did not appear to be a gym or fitness area. This probably not a good hotel for families with young children.
Loved the clever design of the rooms, the huge bed, and the great breakfasts. But what made it stand it out for me was the gorgeous, comfy 'living room' style public spaces. Would've been nice to have a mini-bar.
It was very close to the station.
Perfect location! Friendly, courteous, helpful staff. Clean and quiet room. LOVED the 5-8pm wine and cheese! Minor .... But would have liked another knob to hang towels in bathroom- only one knob. Heating rail to dry damp stuff. Small room but very well laid out- cozy
Great location, comfortable and quiet room.

The staff had the best customer service that I have ever experienced at a hotel. The rooms are very small but the location and staff make the experience more than good.

Modern, clean, comfortable, and cozy. Tiny room but the design is perfect. Great little breakfast option. Wonderful staff with charming customer service. They were very accommodating in letting me leave my luggage for a few hours after I checked out. I wish there was a little closet to hang up clothes. The room I had there was just a hook with 3 hangers for hanging a couple items. For a one night stay that's fine but for multiple nights could be annoying.
The hotel holds a free cheese and wine social at night that gets you out of your tiny room to stretch out and relax with other people. The noise level throughout the hallways was none to low. The staff were friendly and helped with directions to places. The breakfast wasn't really substantial enough for people who were about to walk about for the entire day. We'd make it to 10AM and already be hungry. They only offered cooked bacon, everything else was continental. The area didn't offer an alternative.

The cheese and wine is a great idea and the value overall for being right next to George Square is amazing. Clean and friendly to make up for the small room.
it was central for shopping
central to all facilities and easy to get to
large room breakfast was not an option on booking
I was there for a black tie function and found my stay and function most enjoyable. no onsight parking.
Really modern, contemporary decor. Very attentive staff.
the hotel was lovely, it was our silver wedding and the hotel mad it very special, room was beautiful and breakfast was amazing thank you loved it
convenience of location friendly staff noisy at night at front of hotel where my room was.
Lovely room - we were upgraded to Junior Suite from Executive Room. The Collage Bar in the corner is fantastic - the layout, staff and food just excellent. Champagne cocktails in the Atrium Bar are worth coming back for. Car parking arrangements are poor. Didn't expect to arrive in the snow, have nowhere to park at the hotel and then have to pay £30 for parking elsewhere on the weekend.
The staff were friendly and didn't make you feel that you were a bother at any time. I also liked the fact that the only people in the bar area after midnight were residents (with or without friends). I was a bit shocked at the variance in the price as I stayed for 2 nights and couldn't believe the hike for the Saturday, felt this was exploitation.
The hotel staff at reception were very helpfull, due to the short stay in the hotel as l was having to catch the first flight from Glasgow to London l was unable to use the hotel facilities.
Good atmosphere fine food staff very helpful. Heating in room not adequate. Breakfast in morning not very well run.
Every comfort available. Rooms with view would be better. Our inside over utility vents courtyard view was depressing.. But then we were not staying inside the hotel much and room was quiet and very well appointed. Wifi strong.
the staff were very good at there job and polity could not get a taxi back to rail station
Bar staff, Scott and Ayden award winning cocktail masters! Front desk staff Night managers Ute (sp?)and John
Excellant hospitality and service. Loved the position, decor and ambiance of the hotel. Will definately visit again. A few problems because it was new. The lift broke down, gas problem in kitchen resulting in 30 minute wait for breakfast, extras being added to the bill after dinner that we did not have. All quickly resolved.
Staff, location, facilities, ambience, food, welcome could not have been better. The courtesy and hepfulness of everyone from the MD himself who was very visible and helpful at what was a difficult time due to severe weather to the extremely well informed and helpful doorman (who also acted as waiter when restaurant busy) was well beyond what could be expected even of a luxury hotel. We have to confess that the breakfast arrangements were not conducive to customer satisfaction and while we did not complain many around us did. Somehow the large numbers could not be coped with by the staff on duty who at other times of day gave superb service.
Breakfast was great, as was the room's bathroom, especially the nice sized tub. Bed was very big and comfortable. Friendly and helpful staff, beautiful lobby and dining room. Beautiful, new hotel. I was disappointed with the size of the room (bed took up all the room, felt crowded, dark) and its place on the first floor (with a view onto an unfinished gravel courtyard). I would recommend asking for a higher up room and making sure you indeed get a double. Beware that the spa is not yet open, I though it would be (it said August!!) and it was not. It was lovely, but I don't know if it was worth the money.
Our room was wonderful, and very clean
Central location. Clean and comfortable. Good value for money
Central location Not able to control the heating as it was chilly in our room and there was very very very little room to get passed the bed to the bathroom. Ironing board broken and iron leaked water.
The cleanliness of the room and how warm it was. Bathroom radiator did not work was like an ice box.
The location was good and the staff was friendly. The room was not very clean; and most unfortunately it was mainly in the bathroom. The toilet had not been properly cleaned. Also the shower head needed tightening; when turned on - water spouted in nearly every direction making it impossible to not make a giant mess. The pillows were flat and the mattress was stiff. I'm not picky about these things as long as they are clean - which they appeared to be.
The room was clean and comfortable. We had a three bedded room and there was enough room for everyone.
It was a bed for the night, and handy for Central station. Public areas have obviously been refurbished, see below re rooms. Room was adequate if sparse. Put off however by old fashioned shutters on window which did not swing right back so that they protruded into the room, and only net curtain. Made room dingy. Room had been redecorated, but not to a high standard and parts seemed unfinished. Duvets were flimsy and only just covered the beds. Breakfast could have been hotter.
Great location Nothing
The hotel was close to the train station. The hotel room was very outdated and could have been cleaner. The hotel is way over priced for what you actually get. It is also close to a bar that has very loud karaoke. The price of this hotel should have been at least half of what we paid.
I stayed in a deluxe room once before and found it to be good but, being a 2 star hotel, I was expecting the single room to not be so great. I was pleasantly surprised. It was very comfortable. I slept well. Breakfast was good. It's not the best hotel in the world but it's great for the price. The TV was tuned in on channels 4-9 instead of 1-5 for some reason.
The wonderful wood work and decor in the bar and breakfast rooms on the 1st floor - very old European.
Convenience Breakfast was poor quality and not all hot items were available.
Politeness staff, good breakfast, excellent central location
nice spacious rooms, good gym and very friendly staff
We were on our honeymoon & treated very well. There was no hot water in my room after 7pm.
Room was very comfortable and the bar has a nice atmosphere Nothing
The central location and the great breakfast
Hiltons are always a great standard
its all you need for a break every thing under one roof car parking was terrible
Staff were friendly and food was good. The hotel itself was clean. Made a mistake of asking for a smoking room. Expected a slight aroma but the bed and pillows were so smelly my wife was unable to sleep !!
the room was spacious and clean the food in the bar wasnt brilliant
I was very pleased with the size of our room. The Car parkng is inadequate.
The Hilton has always been a favourite in Glasgow, but is a little tired and very expensive compared to new competitors in town. I do like that the staff are attentive and helpful, but not more than you would expect in a friendly city. The £4 tray charge for room service is unnecessarily high and the in-room refreshments a bit mean. Even at a great discount, the room charge was more than 50% higher than half a dozen other good hotels.
Great location. Ideal for SECC and Clyde Auditorium as well as both city centre and west end. Perfect for business people too.
Location No teletext on TV
Perfect location for the SECC. Staff all friendly and helpful.
The hotel was lovely and clean with very helpfull staff and easy acess to the secc for concerts I didn't like the fact it had no windows to open, during the night it was very warm I felt I couldn't breath with no fresh air getting in
hotel to concert to car park all under cover excellent
1. Ease to SECC. 2. Breakfast 3. Pleasant reception staff 1. Exceptionally poor quality bread at breakfast - better at Premier Inn!! 2.Breakfast staff looked most unhappy. 3. Bedroom windows couldn't be opened for air and AC too loud.
The proximity to the SECC - the two are internally connected, therefore removing the need to go outside. Great in the winter time. Didn't realise we had to pay for parking. Only £5, but still a surprise
Excellent location and views. Staff attentive and helpful. Parking was free. Good breakfast choice. Wine was pricey. If we'd have known we were so close to the IMAX cinema and science museum we'd have visited on the wet weekend afternoons, but there was no information and we didn't find out until we were leaving.
Clean, spacious accomodation. Additional charge for car park in a non- City Centre location.
Very pleasant staff and environment. Clean and comfortable. Queue for breakfast was extremely long at around 10.00am. No low fat spread at Breakfast. Pretty minor really.
it is very comfortable and very convient to the train and the city centre the carpets are a little shabby
The hotel was very clean and the Staff were exceptional - nothing was a problem for them and they were always friendly, courteous and helpful. None
Good breakfast, very nice and modern gym.Swimmingpool is a plus even though a bit worn and shabby. Small room, no refrigerator in room, not much storage place for your clothes. According to hotel policy at booking.com extra beds where available for children or adults, but that showed to be wrong. Maximum two adults per room was the answer I got when I contacted the hotel to get a confirmation of my booking (but they fixed it for us anyway). We also got a hotel restaurant bill on our room even though we didn't eat there. Despite the fact that we reported it to the reception right away and they promised to fix it they didn't do it. They also messed up the tray fee for breakfast on the room, but we managed to sort everything out at checkout.
Very nice staff - all very efficient and friendly. Nice room with huge bed and 6 pillows for one person! Well stocked bathroom. Refridgerator did not work. Floor heating in bathroom would have been nice.
The staff where excellent, The large coloured gentlman who greated us for breakfast was perticulary frendly
Very well run, comfortable hotel,Good food, friendly staff. None that we could see.
Excellent location and although not the cheapest it still offered excellent value and the rooms were very comfortable and tastefully decorated all was first class
Excellent service Room was lovley great way to spend a relaxing weekend with my partner for her Birthday
Beds were extremely comfortable It was a long way to walk to my room
Convenient access and location, quiet. Staff is clearly poorly trained. Breakfasts were a shambles, staff running around like headless chickens, badly stocked buffet, cutlery and crockery falling on the floor, raised voices etc. Allow at least an hour to have breakfast as the area is clearly under sized, and with the amateurish staff don't expect a quick bite and go.
Good breakfast choice.Room clean and comfortable Did not have record of us paying for rooms in advance so had to pay again and reclaim payment.Still waiting for refund.
I requested a smoking room and did not get this.
Good strong internet access in my room.
clean comfortable Noise from outside bar area late at night
Its location is ideal I have no dislikes
The atmosphere of the hotel was very amenable, staff were very helpful. Also the location of the hotel is a bonus it so central for the city. Didnt like the breakfast setup would rather have had a buffet style for all selections.
Location and very comfortable bed The hotel forgot to make our alarm call in the morning
Good Facilitys No
Good location, very comfortable room and good breakfast. Staff pleasant and helpful.
The staff were extreemly helpful. Lovely toom The shower cubical was very small and tight
Staff very helpful There is no parking facility and no internet
Friendly staff. Excellent food
Liked the atmosphere, the modern decor, and the Quality Indian restaurant. Mattress was soft (for our taste at least). Bath was very small. Unfortunately we had a water leak from the room above which came down into our bath. Fortunately we were not in the bath at the time.
The Hotel is fresh and modern, very central location. Staff very friendly and helpful without being intrusive.
it was very modern, lounge an bar was very nice.. room was awfull small, was no space for my suitcase..sheets were not changed.
First class accommodation, convenient for central Glasgow, facilities, shooping, restaurants etc etc etc! Staff were great. Superb. Not one thing
Friendly staff, good facilities, great location. No complaints.
The rooms are fabulous. A very comfortable stay. Easy walk into town, the shops & restaurants. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable.
Location in the Merchant City was what was wanted, and delivered
Nice spacious and clean appartment, comfortable bed Traffic noise
great value for money. spacious ( much more than a hotel room) the only slight issue was the smell of curry in the corridor.
The checkin process was easy and location is excellent. The rooms are big and having separate kitchen/living area is a nice alternative to a hotel especially if staying for a few nights or more. The lifts are slow but that's about it
Location for shopping and eating out at night. The room was very comfortable and well equipped. En-suite bathroom required some improvements.
Freedom and space
Location was supurb. The receptionist was friendly. Facilities in the room were adequate The bed could be beter
The location was fantastic and value would be hard to beat Room was clean however in need of freshening up
I have previously stayed at Residence 6 in Leeds and was very impressed. Whilst Fraser Suites was ok - it certainly wasnt what I expected. Decor was tired, the carpets were grubby, the furniture was scratched and looked tatty. The bathroom was very tired (mouldy grouting in places). Didnt live up to my expectations and probably wouldnt book to go there again. First impressions were good, on further inspection you noticed the above. Not really a 4*, maybe at one time it was? see above.
would like to have known how much breakfast would have been, never saw anything to say but ther was information on other food.We ended up somewherelse incase it was too expensive!
The hotel has a great location and is easy to find.
the cream for the coffe was 1 month out of date, and the bath had not been cleaned...hair stuck to it all over.
The Comfort & Location The fact that you cant smoke in the comfort of your own room.
the location for shopping the triple room was a good size the hotel was excellent value
The location Old room
the staff were very nice and the food was very good, the bar prices were a bit on the high side. only 1 person on reception so you had to wait a while at times.
My sisters and I were in Glasgow for a shopping weekend and have stayed in this hotel three times now. It is brilliant that they do triple rooms which are very comfortable. We had a meal in the bar which was very good. Staff could smile a bit more.
the only problem i had was when given our key noone explained how to use it eg that we had to leave it in the slot to work the electricity maybe to some people who use hotels a lot this is common sense but for my daughters and myself who were having a little treat we didnt have a clue we had to work it out for ourselves it would have been nice if they had just taken a few seconds to explain when we checked in.we bookerd online with my mothers credit card but paid in cash when we checked in the man asked for an extra 20 pound but did not explain what this was for i had to ask later as i thought i had just made a mistake in reading the details we had it would be a good idea if the staff didnt take it for granted that we all use hotels regularly and know what to do.
Marks Hotel is very central and walkable to most of the city centre. Hotel is lovely and the staff are very helpful and friendly. Plan to stay at Marks Hotel again very soon No complaints at all - rooms, restaurant and staff splendid
Location. We were flying next day at 6.20 am, so it was very convenient. Everything was ok.
Location to airport is the only good thing $333 for one night in a 2 star hotel is ridiculous
Request for early room availability honoured Price high compared to figures seen in other adverts but not as bad as that quoted by hotel 3 weeks previosly
Heated towel radiator did not work, kettle in the room did not work either. Could not alter temperature in room
Location, location, location. Also, very clean with good bedding. It is rather old. It appears to be well maintained with no wear seen but room format shows its age, such as the tiny bathroom.
Staff was pleasant and helpful. Bed was soft and comfy. It was also nice and quiet. Excellent location.
The location could not have been better four our 12 hour layover.
easy, quick check in and out
We have stayed several times , as it it so near the airport. The kettle in our room was not working this time ,we discovered it too late for ourselves ( due to very early flight), but told reception staff when we left.
It was disappointing to learn that I had to pay extra for breakfast since I booked through Kayak instead of booking directly. There was no price difference if I did book directly.
The Room was freezing cold & I couldnt get temp increased
That it is walkable to the airport. Very basic room and bed. Everyplace we stayed in Scotland had free wifi - there is no reason why this isn't available for free at HIG as well. Restaurant was also very expensive. Bring a sandwich. Wake- up call did not occur- a true disappointment and potential disaster.
friendly/very helpful reception staff/ cleaning staff very approachable and went out of their way to meet our needs/ service in all aspects highly recommended / well done dont think guest reviews of any hotel are helpful as they tend to be based on emotion and every hotel should be assessed on its own merits.
We booked a triple room and it was small and only had a double bed. This is a solid budget hotel
Ease of check in / check out - plenty of staff available during busy times. Breakfast facilities and food of a high standard. How room price jumped by £40 due to a football match being played in the City.
The location was good and central, good speedy check in service and they also provide luggage lock up on departure if required so you don't have to cart unnecessary bags around until required. No complaints
Good situation for shopping, pubs etc none
quality of hotel rooms were cold
Close to Train Station. Heat did not work properly.
acess to city centre Our room was cold and very noisy heating device
very clean in reception area and room. ice maker on each floor nice booked a triple room but had to ask for extra towels and cup etc
concert we had booked room was very cold and smelled of stale smoke, restaurant very very cold and food also very cold.
The comfort and relaxing atmosphere
This Hotel is definitely worth its 5 star credentials and has lots of character, a very nice gym/pool and very helpful staff It can feel a little bit reserved at times with very formal procedures during dinner
Helpful but unobtrusive staff Buffet style breakfast, would have prefered cooked to order, therefore, hotter food.
The room was very nice and the breakfast was lovely. As I arrived at 1am and left at 7.30am, there was not much time to enjoy it but it did make me want to return on my next visit. Only that at 1am when I walked in the front door - tired and not happy due to delayed flights, I had to carry my own bag up all the stairs while the male attendee sat in his chair and ignored my presence.
Enjoyed the overall character of the property with individual rooms and the superb food Disappointed that we were not able to check in until late we were not aware of a 4pm policy
the food, the atmosphere, the building and gardens, the spa, there was not one thing I could fault about this hotel, if you get the chance treat yourself to a break here. next time we will be staying two nights. ps the spa is a must.
Position and leisure facilities including the Aveda Spa Menu included with package was limited for vegetarians although the last night the Chef provided an alternative when asked.
Beautifully appointed. Excellent service. Beauty rooms most attractive. Beautiful grounds and views. My friend who accompanied me during the day for a beauty treatement but was not staying at the hotel was asked to pay £15 to use the pool for half an hour. Preposterous.
upon arrival peculiar sewer like smell in room - they said they had to flush something out - smell dimished but still lingered in the air
The biggest asset to the hotel is the staff they are all delightful, in particular Nicole, Gillian and Kirsty looked after us very well. The hotel is a lovely place to stay and I just wish we'd been able to play the golf course, we'll just have to come back. The only problem we had was one day our room was not cleaned but as soon as I mentioned this it was sorted mmediatelty. There is a large television in the bar with sports on, the bar itself is very nice but the TV is really out of place there and should perhaps be in the Spike Bar.
