9.5 Excellent
Pros: A superb luxury hotel one of the best we have stayed in. The Manor House and grounds look amazing, the booking.com photos do not do it justice. The owners and staff are very friendly, especially Isabelle. We stayed in the “Royale” suite. A 4-poster bed, lots of space in the room, large very clean bathroom and big windows. Breakfast was superb, breads, croissants, fine cheeses, jams and orange juice presse. The grounds are beautifully maintained with a view over the Loire and Chateau Saumur. A highlight is sitting in the garden with a glass of wine and watching the sunset. The hotel is 5 mins drive or 20 mins walk from Saumur centre, where there are plenty of restaurants, boulangeries, charcuteries and fromageries. It is down a quiet side street with no noise whatsoever. But a bonus is that it is on the main transferway, so you can get to all the locations Brézé, Brissac, the Abbey, Montsereau etc very easily and without having to go in and out of town. There is lots to do in the area
Cons: The WiFi did not function during our stay, but this was not a problem as we have SIM cards with excellent reception in all our devices

Pros: We loved Chateau de Nazé with its Old-World charm and beautiful antiques. Beautifully situated in its own park...an ideal place for walking our dogs and enjoying the countryside. We received a very warm welcome from Maritée, the owner, who treated us as friends from the moment we arrived. Nothing was too much trouble and we enjoyed her company as well as her beautiful home. The breakfast was served in a lovely room with many original features and was most enjoyable, with cherries from her own garden served along with warm croissants and home made yoghurt. B&B l'Améthyste - Saint-Hilaire-Saint-Florent - Bedroom
7
9.5 Excellent (86 reviews)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely to have a private entrance and still feel part of the household.
7.5 Good
Pros: Friendly and helpful owner. Easy parking. Quiet location.
Cons: Access to our “independent” room was through the garage and up a very steep ladder-style wooden staircase. Carrying up and down our hand luggage was difficult as it was far too easy to slip onto the bare concrete floor below. This attic room above the garage had bathroom facilities in one corner without a proper partition wall and no privacy. There was no smoke alarm which was a concern as there would have been no escape through the small Velux windows in the roof. The room was cluttered with decorative items and leaflets. The bed was rather short.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Everything from the friendly greeting to the room size, ensuite was also a good size. Pleasant stay.
Cons: There are multiple properties identified by the same house number which caused confusion in locating the correct property.

Pros: Beautiful room, very upscale for the prices, in a beautiful house and a lovely town! The room really was exquisite and comfortable. The breakfast was plentiful and very good. The stay was nice with a charming host who was very accommodating.
Cons: Not a big deal for me but maybe for others: it is slightly outside of the town of Saumur and a car is needed (or a bicycle).
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Loved the tranquil location of the property, the ambience of the courtyard for evening relaxing with wine and supper, the high standard of finish and design of the bedroom, the friendliness of the proprietor and other guests over shared breakfast and the possibility to walk to town via the vineyards or along the river, etc.
Cons: There wasn't anything at all. Everything was just great. Thankyou.
10.0 Excellent

6.3 Good
Pros: Beautiful decor and ambience.
Cons: Property and owner unavailable on day of arrival until 5.00 PM.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly manager who willingy gave good recommenadtions on what to see and where to eat. Very spacios and nicly decorated rooms. Nice breakfastroom. And very nice breakfast, with homemade products and breads and croissants of high quality. Also very good coffee. Beaulieu La Source is located in a quiet area. No noise, no traffic, no barking dogs. Private (and secure) parking.
Cons: We travelled in mid-September. We felt that the room was cold. Also the air in the room was a bit damp. We would have had different experience if the room had been heated. This information should be understood in the context of the environmental policy which Beaulieu La Source applies. Fair enough, as climate-issues are important. Hopefully, travellers who stay at Beaulieu La Source in June, July and August will not make the same experience as we did You may also know that your room is not cleaned during your stay (we stayed for three nights).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Sympathetically restored property, stunning courtyard. The room was beautifully appointed, spotlessly clean with nice linen.
Cons: Nothing
8.8 Excellent
Pros: It’s clear that this property is a labor of love for the owner. He has done wonderful restoration work which is still ongoing. Our room was comfortable, quiet, and clean. We loved the cozy central courtyard with a small aviary and fishpond. What a relaxing place! The morning meal featured quality baked goods with home-made jams and yoghurt. We were very pleased we chose this charming location.

Pros: Fantastic property close to Saumur. Stayed September 2018 for a stop over. Good parking for the motorbike. Olivier was an excellent host, and could not have been more helpful. Decor was quirky and everywhere spotlessly clean and comfortable. Breakfast excellent. Would definitely recommend.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very peaceful. Good breakfast. Beautifully dressed and designed.
Cons: It was a short drive away from Saumur for dinner - ideally we prefer to walk. However you could get a light, something to eat/drink at the C-d-H. There was a walk into town (about 30mins) along the river, but not suitable at night. Rooms weren't made up after the 1st night, bin not emptied, tea bags not replaced. Unfortunately we didn't have the language skills to query!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: We loved the spacious, artistically designed bedroom, built out from the hillside, with one wall of natural stone and many quirky features. We particularly enjoyed an apéro in the little courtyard in the early evening. Olivier was an excellent host. He gave us great recommendations for where to visit, to eat and to taste wine.

Pros: This is a dream guest house stay. The decore is impeccable, but be prepared to step into a period piece manor style living. If this is your thing, you’ll love it here

Cons: Breakfast was good although it was €15.50 each. It was served to you in baskets. We ate out the second day. Cats. I don’t like cats and the hotel had a few around the lobby. Whiskey a little pricey at €10 a shot. No prices given at time of serving.

And when it is so wonderfully served, in a gorgeous dining room, it really did send us away with smiles on our faces. The hotel manager was polite, friendly and so helpful. The room was beautifully styled, comfy, clean and we loved it.
Cons: We didn't have anything to dislike. If I had to say one thing, the beautiful bed was so tightly made, I had to have a bit of a struggle with the bedding to free my feet!

Overview Reviews
Located in Saumur, Gîtes La Jarillais is in a rural location, within a 15-minute drive of Maison de Vin and Bouvet Ladubay. Free self parking is available onsite.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: A beautiful cottage in a lovely rural area. The decor was very elegant, good shower and very good beds.
Cons: Don't bring your dog. There are many animals walking loose at La Jarillais, chickens (with small chicks), other dogs, cats that walk in and out etc. We had to keep our (well bahaved) dog on a leash all the time. There was no toilet paper (we had to buy at a Carrefour) and we had to rent linnens and towles. We arrived late after a long journey and it would have been nice if our beds had been made. When we wanted to ask our hosts something they were never available or near. Payment was confusing and they didn't know if they had received the pre-payment from Booking or not. All in all, a lovely place but don't expect any hospitality or warmth.

Pros: Very kind and conscientious hosts. They went out of their way to make certain I was comfortable and accommodated. This property is just a 12 minute drive from town (better if you have a car, taxi’s do not get excited to drive out of town), so it is very calm and quiet. These are “Gites” not separate houses, but you do have your own full kitchen/living-room/bathroom/bedroom and in some cases a washer-dryer and back patio. It’s well equipped, but bring your own sheets and towels otherwise you pay a small fee to use theirs (basically they are renting you a living space). Breakfast is also additional fee, and it is worth it to be able to walk into the main house and enjoy hot coffee, juice and an array of snacks. The owners are very sweet and rhymes have the cutest pooch -whom I wanted to take home with me. Highly recommend this property. I will be back.
Cons: Nothing comes to mind. Though I do feel that sheets and towels should be part of the rental, I wasn’t upset by their policy.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Quiet relaxing location. Lovely huge grounds and clean pool. Hosts were very friendly but left you to yourselves u less you wanted something then more than happy to help.
Cons: There was no where you could walk to in the evening for a meal or drinks, but we were happy drinking outside our gite on the terrace.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: What a great location, just outside Saumur (5 min) but totally in the countryside. Lovely owners, extremely kind and willing to help with everything. Our kids loved all the animals present (dogs, cat, chickens, horses). The garden is lovely with seats everywhere and the Swimmingpool was perfect. The Gite is rustic French with everything you need. Nothing fancy but compared to the price we thought it was a bargain. Franc and Elizabeth, many thanks for the great stay. We would highly recommend it and will come back when possible!
Cons: In the gite an extra couch inside or outside would be nice
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable gite, out in lovely peaceful countryside close to Saumur.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The owners were particularly friendly despite some mishaps and also spoke English well although they didn't think so.
Cons: No improvements suggested
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Best accommodation we stayed at during our trip- extremely nice and helpful owners, use of nice sized (shared) pool, private decked area/garden, rest of the grounds & gardens immaculate.
Cons: This is nitpicking really, but the seating in the living room- could've done with a couple of comfy chairs and/or a sofa!

Cons: Nothing really, it was fine.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Convenient for the centre of Saumur. Very comfortable and excellent value breakfast. Muriel was a charming hostess
Cons: Noise from the railway line
8.3 Excellent
Pros: A small hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. the secure parking was very welcome. It's a compound at the back of the hotel with a big gate opened from outside by a security code, we felt happy leaving most of our luggage in the car overnight rather than having to bring it all up to the room; 5 euros for our overnight stay and we could leave the car there until we returned from wandering around Saumur at lunchtime on our departure day. There wouldn't be enough space for all their guests to park, so I'd recommend booking in advance. The room and en-suite were clean and had all you needed for a comfortable night, including a kettle and complimentaries for tea/coffee.
Cons: The location is good as you are on the edge of the two bridges you need to cross to get to central Saumur, 10 - 15 minutes walk, although if it was raining it wouldn't be much fun as there is no cover. But it is right on the main road near a junction and also has a main railway running close by. We were in a corner room, which meant windows on two sides, so nice and light but extra noise. They have supplementary glazing which will cut out most of the noise as long as you're happy sleeping with the windows closed. We're not, generally, so tried sleeping with them open but gave up halfway through the night as the noise from freight trains and traffic was just too obtrusive. I would imagine that a room at the back of the hotel would be much quieter.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Nice welcome, secure parking, comfortable clean room, pleasant breakfast.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: For a relatively budget hotel it was excellent. Staff on reception very helpful. Just a 10 minute walk over the bridges to the town centre. Off street and secure parking excellent. Bed was comfy and room more than adequate for a one night stop over. Would stay again.
Cons: No lift and we were on the 2nd floor with suitcases. We managed ok but some people may struggle. I suppose you could ask for ground floor room if needed.

Cons: There was nothing to dislike.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Conveniently situated, although slightly challenging to find, this charming house is comfortable, clean, quiet and exquisitely furnished. The hosts were very attentive and helpful in suggesting places and local restaurants to visit. Breakfast in our private sitting room was beautifully presented and everything we could have hoped for.
Cons: For some reason our room was not made up after our first night. Possibly miscommunication on our part or due to us arriving back at the room early. But this was a minor issue and did not detract from an enjoyable stay
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely perfect. A beautiful house with an immaculate bed and breakfast facility. The decor was in keeping with the house and the attention to detail was amazing Emmanuel and Elisa are a delight. They are genuinely warm and welcoming and it was a privilege to stay in their house, so much so that I didn’t want to leave them or their home
Cons: Nothing whatsoever Perfect in every way possible

Pros: Beautiful room in the most beautiful property in Saumur Centre. The room was comfortable, clean, beautifully decorated. Pros: Beautifully appointed suite, comfortable bed, excellent shower and sink/toilet facilities, wonderfully friendly hosts, generous breakfast, fascinating old home that is being renovated by the owners.
Cons: A bit of noise from a youth residence next door.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This property is EXCELLENT. The hosts, Madame Elisa and Monsieur Emmanuel are wonderful hosts, so friendly and helpful. They provided a list of good local restaurants. If you are there on a weekend like we were, the be sure to take their recommendation and make your reservations early. The room, with a separate entry door, is huge. There is a large bedroom with beautiful decorations including a beautiful painting done by her daughter-in-law, with fresh flowers throughout, a large shower room with sink, a separate toilet room with it's own sink, and an anteroom which has a dining table. The location is absolutely the best. It is right off the center square where there are a number of restaurants and on Saturday morning, there is a farmers market with fresh produce, breads, meats. Most everything is within a 10-20 minute walk, including some of the wineries, the castle, and the Musee de Blindes. Best place we've stayed in all the places we have visited in Europe!!! We hope to return some day in the spring.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: M & Mme Villain the hosts were fantastic! Very nice breakfast and they made us reservations at some fantastic restaurants
Cons: The WiFi access was poor as it kept making us login every 10 minutes. We were there on a couple of cold days and the heat was not working but they provided a portable heater which was okay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a fantastic stay here! The room was beautiful, spacious and clean and the location is very central and yet quiet and not overlooked. A wonderful welcome and attentive service throughout our stay. We will definitely stay here again.

Pros: Nice place and great food in the restaurat.
6.8 Good
Pros: Big room with ornate decoration, balcony with a lovely view over the Loire.
Cons: We paid a lot of money to stay here and we just didn’t feel it was worth it. The chateaux is impressive but the room was a little dated with no air conditioning just a single plug in floor fan, the shower in the bathroom was pretty basic and the ‘double bed’ was two singles put together. The drinks at the bar and food in the restaurant were very pricey.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Loved the location, immaculate hotel, comfy room and very clean. Would be amazing if it had an outside swimming pool area.
Cons: Nothing bad to rate about the hotel and staff here . Drinks a little pricey 9euro for small beer. Also had to close curtain for privacy or people could see in room .

Cons: Nothing
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The beautiful situation and refined restaurant.
Cons: Not having curtains or shades in the anti chamber of room number 3. Our 12 year old grand daughter could not sleep due to incoming light. Also a proper single bed would have been more suitable for such a lovely hotel.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic location stunning views with great room over looking the river.
Cons: Nothing
6.8 Good
Pros: The view
Cons: It was lacking in atmosphere. The breakfast was poor because containers were not filled up and ants were on the bread.

The rooms are nicely decorated and very spacious, the hotel is close to Saumur with lots of wineries and a pretty little town with a great fromagerie and music on the streets. Pros: This is a lovely house located very centrally a short walk from restaurants and the castle. We stayed here with our three children for one night en route from Paris to the Vendee and loved it. The owners were lovely and gave us lots of information about the area. Breakfast was great and plentiful. Completely agree with one of the other reviews - why would you want to stay in a soulless hotel when you can stay in a beautifully restored house with such lovely proprietors.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: François et Guylène Bellier went out of their way to make me feel welcome, they were so kind, helpful and attentive, I cannot recommend this place enough and wish I could have stayed much longer. The house is spacious and the room itself really exceeded my expectations. The bathroom was very big, adjoining a walk-in-closet and had just been refurbished. The room was comfortable and had beautifully appointed historic and antique furniture with a lovely scriptoire, luxurious rugs and excellent wifi. Breakfast was delicious with home made jam, cake, fresh bread, cheese, fresh fruit, yoghurt and more. Response to my e-mails before my arrival was always courteous, immediate and informative. I was cycling the Loire-a-velo and they waited for my baggage which arrived ahead of me and made space for my bicycle. Upon arrival Francois and Gulene invited me to join their neighbours for some delicious home-made Reunion punch in their garden and upon leaving Francois went out of his way and drove me to the train station. Much better than any hotel and with genuine, attentive to detail service and heartfelt service. Don't miss this!!

Pros: The welcome was wonderful, the accommodation was really special and the breakfast was gorgeous - the madeleines were a firm favourite. We brought bread for our youngest who is coeliac and I forgot to mention it when booking. Odile couldn’t have been nicer, ensuring that our youngest had enough to eat at breakfast and making sure we were booked into a local restaurant that catered for her (another wonderful experience!). The trip was in a word - perfect, Thanks. We’ll be back!

4.5 Okay
Pros: Nice chateau, beautiful architecture and tasty croissants- that’s it.
Cons: Booked junior suite for 5 nights for the end of our Loire Valley trip, being caught by the wrong description of the hotel as a SPA hotel. A small swimming pool and a sauna (that the owners charged for!!! 30€- seriously?). They also charged 15€ for one croissant and two yoghurts that I took upstairs for my husband who didn’t feel well. Really? Guys, this is a good B&B. This is not a hotel. There is no restaurant, no SPA, this is a small B&B with 10 rooms in total. But the worse are the owners- my apologies, but this couple should not be in the hospitality business, thus they barely know what hospitality is- rude, not educated, very unpleasant people. Definitely not returning to this hotel and highly do not recommend it to anyone who expects a 5 star GRAND CHATEAU SPA hotel.
