Good, relatively inexpensive rooms in a charming medieval village. Clean and a good choice if you don't mind that that at least some rooms must be reached by steep staircase with no lift. Rooms were quite comfortable and clean. A nice, continental breakfast is served in the restaurant. We very much liked this hotel and the location, but this is not a typical "hotel" with lobby and someone available at all times. When restaurant is closed, guests enter through an ally in the back using a key code. Its a great place to stay as long as you don't mind something a bit different.
The staff and continental breakfast and the setting. The room cleanliness left a little to be desired (i.e. very dusty areas like the bathroom vents) and the absence of a bidet.
The staff were quite warm & friendly. Room 3 was beautiful. Firstly, the breakfast was very very disappointing despite that it was late. I was given croissants and orange juice which was served in a small glass. I had to request for more each time i downed it. There should have been a jugful of juice on my table for me to serve myself for 115 Euros! Secondly, the TV did not come on throughout my 1night. Tried all the tricks the power button, remote, etc all to no avail! There's no phonebox in the room to call the reception and I was too tired to go down the narrow spiral stairs to get help.
The location was fabulous. The hotel is right in the middle of the town "square" so to speak so you will feel like you are a part of the village life. Our room was clean and charming with a very comfortable bed. The bathrooms are modern. The view from our 2nd floor room was amazing! The staff was wonderful. They were helpful and accommodating. I would highly recommend staying here and eating at the restaurant. We had a delicious meal that was fresh and imaginative. The chef is from Mauritius and specializes in seafood. I cannot say enough good things about this hotel!
Haut de Cagnes is a delightful hilltop village with winding streets, charming restaurants and stunning views. The hotel is situated in the central square - I imagine it could get a little noisy in the high season. The rooms are chic and elegant with nice little touches - upmarket toiletries, cd player...There is no lift so people with heavy luggage on the top floor might find it a little inconvenient. The staff were super friendly and made it feel more like home than a hotel, and the food was excellent. Highly recommended. Finding your way from Cagnes sur Mer can be a trial! I arrived at the main station and trekked backwards and forwards before finding the free shuttle bus that takes people up to Haut Cagnes. For info: it's about a ten minute walk from the train station and leaves from the Station Centrale bus station.
The room itself was comfortable with nice linen, proximity to restaurants was also good. The wi-fi was working only downstairs and not in rooms. The airconditioning was broken, staff when aproached said they know but did nothing about it at all as if thats the way it is so deal with it-in description of hotel when booking was said that hotel has airco so I was expecting it to work. whats more, the previous guest took out the tv and cable from the wall - obviously braking the thing- staff when aproached again said they know!!! Absolutely ridiculous. and the restaurant had no choice of any salads whatsoever-just meats and fish.
Great location next to a Boules Court that leads to some interesting people watching in the evening. the hotel itself is small amd pretty basic but has a very helpful and cheerful staff. Stairs to room are very small but not unexpected for a building of thid age.
Location of the hotel at the top of the village in the pedestrianised square was excellent . Terrific views over the countryside and within walking distance of numerous restaurants. The local free shuttle bus was most useful running every 15 minutes.
