Pros: The breakfast was fantastic. Brilliant choice and wonderful flavours. Also extremely generous - kept us full until dinner! Would highly recommend staying here. Perfect location with lovely walks and friendly, welcoming hosts. We loved the garden room and it was perfect with our dog.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The homely feel, the service was incredible! Already planning my next visit with my dog and friends.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was beautifully designed, inside and out with so many quirky pieces which made the space inviting, fun and relaxing. The food was exceptional and the breakfast was the best I have ever had. However, it was Scott and Alistair who made the place memorable as they went out of their way to ensure we had a truly wonderful stay with them. From recommending an amazing dog sitter to stepping in as a taxi to ferry us to a wedding at the last minute, nothing was too much trouble. They went beyond the call of duty. Two very special people who take the time to care - a rarity in this world sometimes. We will be returning just to see them!
Cons: The room we had was beautifully designed and we couldn't ask for any more facilities, they had thought of everything. The only thing that I didn't like (because I am used to having a clutter free home with everything hidden behind cupboards), would have been a larger room as we had a large dog and large dog basket! With all his belongings this did mean the room was pretty full. However, this was not a problem at all for us and I should have asked about the room size in advance.

Can’t fault anything- quality bedlinen and towels(loved the sleep spritzer!) and the breakfasts were superb. Wonderfully quirky decor - they do deserve the accolade of best most unique B&B! I would highly recommend them and can’t wait to return- gold stars all round
Cons: Absolutely nothing- it was all great.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic find, friendly hosts, spotlessly clean, comfortable bed / bedding and wide choice in breakfasts available. The mushrooms with goat cheese and avocado with poached eggs both delicious and well cooked. Nothing to fault would definitely recommend!

The owners are very welcoming and chat over breakfast and gave some great suggestions on what to do locally.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable and clean bedroom and bathroom (bathroom separate but for our exclusive use, which was fine). Host Kimberley treads a perfect path, being attentive and extremely helpful, whilst not at all intrusive. Lots of thoughtful touches - e.g. access to a fridge with fresh milk and a selection of DVDs in the room.
Cons: Wasn’t a problem for our two night stay but the only downside is that the location means you can’t easily walk anywhere - eg. out for dinner.

Pros: Everything about Westwaterhead was perfect. From tea and biscuits in the garden on arrival, to the large comfortable room and private bathroom, through to the most excellent 'full English' breakfast each morning, this was a superlative experience.
Cons: It was deeply regrettable that I was only down for the weekend. A fortnight would have been much better! "I'll be back", as I believe The Terminator once said...

Pros: Breakfast was delicious, and we really enjoyed having a conversation with Jo and the other guests. Jo made us all feel like family. The room was spacious, the bathroom was enormous. Everything was sparkling clean. The views are stunning, all around is very pretty and quiet.
Cons: The narrow lines to get to the property take a little to get used to, specially if you take the 'shortest' route to Salcombe, at night! The bathroom is private (for the sole use of the room occupants) but you have to cross the corridor to get to it. 3.3 Mediocre
Pros: Service excellent. Quality of meals first rate.
Cons: Finding a place to park.
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: The views were to die for and so was the desert trolley at dinner
Cons: It's a very old fashioned hotel and needs some TLC. The room was tiny, we couldn't turn around in the bathroom and the shower was pathetic! It is a very expensive hotel so we expected much more luxury. We got 2 tea bags, no complimentary water and no milk. The B&B we stayed in after cost a third of this one and we got water. Fresh milk etc. The breakfast was okay. It's a buffet.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The views, the staff, the location
Cons: The room could be alittle more modern it is a little old fashioned for my liking. And the weather wasn’t great !
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great breakfast, excellent location.
Cons: Slightly larger bathroom.
7.5 Good
Cons: a bit old fashioned and rather too many dogs around but otherwise very good. Food and staff excellent.
6.7 Good
Pros: Food was good but weren't able only to have one course at dinner Spectacular view of beach, harbour and rocky headlands but weather not good for exploring. Reception staff were very helpful and service in the restaurant was very good. Slightly odd breakfast arrangements but it didn't affect us. Bedroom very comfortable but...…………….see below
Cons: Car parking very poor. I wouldn't let my wife anywhere near the pathway/steps between the Upper car park and the hotel entrance. The hotel was by no means full but there were insufficient spaces. Manager made us feel "guilty" for not booking our evening meal in the hotel and even told us that, if we didn't book, he would sell the room to someone else - presumably non-resident. Bathroom was almost unworkable with toilet close to and facing the door - bumped head getting up!. Insufficient space between the wash basin and the wall - had to wash side-on!

Pros: The views are breathtaking. The restaurant and restaurant staff are wonderul. Excellent food and top rated service.
Cons: I wasnt impressed with the spa facilities. After staying at Gaia Spa at Boringdon Hall, i felt the thermal spa area was underwelming and the hottub was strage. I had to ask others sitting in the hot tub if I could turn on the water canons, at which point when they came on, everyone else was soaked. Not the best.

Pros: Breakfast cooked to order . Splendid bacon superb sausages, Staff so helpful . Evening meal superb albeit a little slow .maybe but worth the wait.

Pros: The house and small surroundings excellent. Staff very helpful. Your chef kindly agreed for us to share our main course on three occasions. The food was good.
Cons: Bath side falling off all the time. Dripping cistern not repaired. I asked during my original booking phone call for "a quiet superior room on the first floor" and we had a very noisy room (Lobelia no 2 room" above the reception area where I heard all the conversation below between clients and receptionists. At night many guests had loud chats in the same area. Thank goodness, my wife is very deaf!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful house and surroundings, helpful staff, excellent food.
Cons: Slow internet, apparently being upgraded.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Really enjoyed our stay, beautiful hotel with a warm friendly ambiance - luxurious without being stuffy. Excellent breakfast
Cons: Evening meal was somewhat disappointing. In a party of four and all has same opinion. What we had was tasty and good quality ingredients but portion size was on the small side and there was a distinct lack of vegetables to accompany the main course. Butter was whipped would have preferred churned butter.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Quiet location with great views, an extremely comfortable bed and a good breakfast selection.
Cons: Ours was a top floor room with a long bath and shower mixer tap - great for a bath but not so good if you want a shower drench.

Pros: Decor and ambience, really tasteful, thoroughly relaxing. The pool was lovely. Views outstanding. The restaurant...food was exceptional. We stayed in to eat on numerous occasions!
Cons: We had a lovely experience however there were a few finer details that we would recommend are sorted for the price being charged. For example, bathroom could have a few hooks for wet towels, jacuzzi was out of order for the whole stay, room wasn't serviced for two days and generally whilst all staff were lovely some staff were amazing and others may benefit from slightly more training. This may sound negative! Not meant to be we had an amazing time and already looking at when we can come back!

Cons: The location was difficult to drive too
9.6 Excellent

5.8 Okay
Pros: Beautiful scenery and location
Cons: The restaurant food was not of a good standard. Also on day of arrival waiter and waitress had very dirty suits.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location was amazing right next to Salcombe town centre and a 20 minute walk to Salcombe North Sands. Beautiful views and hotel.
Cons: We paid £250 per night for three nights in a double room with estuary view. Although the room was to a high standard the bathroom had a sliding door which regularly got jammed. The bathroom had rust stains around shower fittings and mould stains in the corners. You can stay in high standard rooms in other hotels and pay half price.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Thought the hotel lovely, staff were very obliging and food very good.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Staff all very helpful and polite Food was excellent Treatments very good , again expensive in comparison to say John Lewis Clarins treatments
Cons: Wine prices over inflated in restaurant compared with real price Early morning deliveries when your balcony is above.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Loved the room!
Cons: Service a bit hit and miss
5.8 Okay
Pros: This hotel is without doubt in the best location in the centre of Salcombe with unrivalled views of the estuary and within easy walking distance of the town and local amenities.
Cons: Staying for our wedding anniversary, I'd reserved a King Room with Estuary View and we were looking forward to relaxing on the balcony which came with this room. Unfortunately, we found that the view was largely obscured by the roof of the restaurant below (all of the 1st floor rooms have this, whereas the 2nd and 3rd floor rooms are high enough to overlook it). When I mentioned this at reception, I was informed all rooms of the same standard had already been checked into by guests attending the wedding reception taking place at the hotel that evening. This seemed more than a little illogical, as these guests' rooms were then vacant for the vast majority of the evening and it meant that we couldn't sit outside as planned, because of the music and noise from the wedding party going on. The staff at reception were polite and offered us a free bottle of Prosecco and an arbitrary £50 off the final bill (though we were not asking for this purpose and would have preferred to change rooms). To add insult to injury, about an hour later a woman talking loudly on her phone came out on to her 2nd floor balcony boasting about the amazing room she'd 'just checked into', therefore discrediting what we'd been told about the higher rooms being taken already. We were also informed there were complimentary welcome drinks in the bar, where I was encouraged by the bartender to order doubles (because "why not") but was then informed only singles were complimentary, so felt I'd been up-sold, particularly as the same gin & tonic was complimentary in the rooms! For the price of this hotel, the rooms and facilities felt a little tired and it seemed to us to be relying heavily on its great location and lack of similar standard accommodation in the area.

7.9 Good
Pros: Staff wonderful
Cons: Noisy and too warm
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Perfectly located on the beach and near to the coastal walk. Good food!
Cons: Very very narrow roads to get down to the property itself so quite isolated
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Stunning views towards the sea. Great attentive staff Quality food
Cons: The adjoining property is derelict and the surroundings scruffy which is a pity particularly for those rooms without a sea view.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Well situated nice views clean and friendly staff
Cons: Unfortunately there was some building work going on on another site which was a bit noisy on one occasion..this was not our hotels fault
8.3 Excellent
Pros: We loved the location and as our room overlooked the sea and it was great going to sleep to the sound of the waves outside. Our room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. Most of the staff were friendly and very helpful. We appreciated the walking maps and advice given to us about the immediate area. We liked the food served in the restaurant and we enjoyed eating our meals in such a lovely setting
Cons: There could have been more choice in terms of cheeses, meat, jams and rolls instead of bread for the continental breakfast. Service in the bar prior to the evening meal and in the afternoon for coffee ranged from great to dire. The system in the bar changed from efficient at the beginning of the week to terrible with the change of staff mid week
