Pros: The facilities are very comfortable, the decor is beautiful and the service incredible. Maria helped us in planning all of our excursions and spoilt us with delicious food. The attention to detail is extreme and it translated into a memorable stay. Location is great as you get the peacefulness of the forest with very easy access to Salento. It exceeded our expectations.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful and peaceful place with many activities to do around-hiking, horseback riding, coffee farm, Salento city. Everyone is really friendly and helpful, even with ride to Salento if needed. Food is delicious and I loved being with horses around.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing location, very cosy and relaxing, with a good view on the valley! Good and healthy breakfast, nice rooms! You can see the tasteful touch of Don Hector, the owner of the Cabaña!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing 5 star luxury service - we felt at home from the moment we arrived - family was always available to help us with everything (from transportation to tours...) Great location - peaceful with beautiful surroundings and very cute house - near the coffee valley and 5 mins from Salento Great food - the family prepared a very typical Lomo al trapo barbecue, it was a wonderful experience. Amazing tours organized by the Cabana - we loved the horse riding through the valley until Santa Rita waterfall - beautiful! :)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Maria and Hector are wonderful hosts and helped us find the best excursions in the area. Breakfast and the food in general was wonderful with plenty of exotic fruits, water, tea and coffee available throughout the day. Other Staff around the farm are very helpful and can’t do enough for you. We also enjoyed the lomo BBQ. Hector and Maria also drove us into Salento whenever we needed to. I just wished we could have stayed longer.
Cons: There is nothing I did not like about La Cabana.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was delicious, staff always ready to help, clean and comfortable facility, easy to stay here, quiet, lovely, and pleasant to stay here. We enjoyed every minute!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful destination. We stayed four days and were sad to have to leave. Beautiful nature (but close to different activities), cosy rooms, excellent, friendly and helpful hosts,... Great for children as well: playing in the river, riding horses, picking coffee beans, milking cows! We hope to be back soon, and we'll be staying longer then!
Cons: No significant drawbacks.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything! The personal, the rooms, the food, the environment, the hostess Maria, her parents, the hiking tour through the Cocora Valley.... everything was super! Don’t hesitate to book! It’s worth every penny. Somebody wrote the family is just running a business... they are...BUT the love they put into it shows and is priceless!
Cons: Nothing!

Pros: The property is an old colonial house. We stayed with this lovely family for 3 days and it was a real special experience. Everything was amazing. Lucia is super nice and helpful. She gave us many tips about the town and cocora valley and armenia. Her local restaurant and fruit store recommendations were so good. Their property also situated right next to a Tejo game place and is extremely popular among tourists. A most see place. Gracias por todo. Nos vemos.

Pros: Marta and her family are so so nice! The house is comfortable and you really feel like home! Aldought we didn’t have breakfast, she gave us every morning a really good coffe and some bread with cheese! I would stay with them again if I go back to Salento!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our stay was faboulous. They are super nice and friendly and we felt like home. They gave us excellent local tips, including a nice restaurant where we could celebrate my birthday. The space is nicely decorated and super clean. The bathroom is private even though it's external to the room, which was fine for us. They offered us tea at arrival and coffee and bread with cheese in the morning. We strongly recommend their place, we loved it!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely, welcoming family. Kind, explained everything and incredibly warm. Nice cat too! Great linen. Hot shower. Five minutes from main square. Opposite a fantastic Venezuelan restaurant.
Cons: Nothing!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Double bed was comfortable and location was amazing (right next to los amigos). The hosts were so lovely and accommodating and let us leave our bags after checking out.
Cons: Not sure how to explain it but the kitchen was electric, as in we went in and got electric shocks touching everything. We were then warned to wear shoes in the kitchen to stop it, but that experience was a little odd and didn’t seem completely safe
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Lovely, friendly and welcoming family. They gave really helpful and detailed information about Solento. Location is great for town and jeeps for the Corcora Valley - everything in close proximity. Coffee and bread was much appreciated every morning and they were always very kind to us. Thank you for our stay.
Cons: Just to note, this is more of a guest house / home stay rather than hostal.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owners of the hostel are so sweet and helpful, it felt like home from the first minute. They helped us with lots of tips for everything we wanted and especially for good food. And they served coffee and tea every morning, even when we woke up realy early to take the bus to Medellin. If you are in Salento, Hostal Jerico is always a very, very good choice.
Cons: Nothing :-)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Such a fabulous stay at Familia Jericho!!! The accommodation is a homestay and we were welcomed into the family home with open arms. We really enjoyed our fresh coffee and bread each morning. And our boys enjoyed playing with the owners son! They don't speak much English but a smile and broken english from them and broken Spanish from us got us there! The hostel is a true rustic colombian house with squeaks and all! We had a huge room with plenty of space. The beds were comfortable and we were given lots of blankets for the cooler mountain air. There is some noise from the street and cafe downstairs, but nothing that really affected us. But the best part were the owners, they couldn't do enough for us and sat us down on the first morning to give us a map and explain everything. Marta lucia recommended lots of restaurants & activities & we can't thank her enough (especially for her recommendation for Spanish lessons)! We loved Salento and our stay
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Los anfitriones son generosos y hospitalarios. Me sentí como en casa. The house owners, a lovely family, were welcoming and generous. I felt like at home.
Cons: Nada. Todo
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The couple who run the homestay are incredibly lovely and helpful. They were very accommodating of our late check in. Martha spent a long time in the morning orientating us to Salento and giving us her recommendations for restaurants etc, which was very much appreciated. They made us feel at home, and were very warm and welcoming. One of the most special places we stayed at during our trip to Colombia.
Cons: Nothing at all.

Pros: Juliana, the hostess was very kind, helped us planning our stay and gave recommendations. The location is great and very close to the plaza.
Cons: Some may consider it as a nice thing, but the room is very old fashioned, which we didn’t like. The surrounding was noisy during night, with people talking and crowing roosters
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Juliana was great, explained everything with a lot of patient. Great location
8.8 Excellent
Pros: We had a very nice and spacious room with two super big and comfortable beds and a balcony. Everything was very clean. Upon arrival we had nice introduction into possible tours and a map of salento with a list of restaurants. A dog and a cat were guardians of the house, both very cute. The hotel is a 5 minute walk from the main plaza. A perfect choice; we would stay there again. The owner stored our luggage on the last day, so we could pick it up safely after a trip to Filandia. He also organized a taxi transfer at a fair price.
Cons: While cleaning the room, our luggage was moved and clothings moved to one place. We understand the owners effort, of keeping the room clean and orderly but we would have preferred that they not touched our personal belongings.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: - Location! 3 min walk from the main square and street - Lots of restaurants and bars; try the trout - Staff is super! Our balcony door was not working properly, but the staff fixed it immediately and upgraded us to another room - Breakfast basic but delicious

Pros: We spent four nights at the Reserva Guadalajara with our two teenage kids. It’s in a beautiful, tranquil location in a charming old family home. Diego, the owner, is a lovely guy who is very keen to help visitors and make them feel at home. We went out horse riding with him up the mountain into rainforest, all on the family’s land, where the views are spectacular and you are far away from the tourist bustle of Salento. Also, breakfast on the terrace is wonderful. Would highly recommend it!
Cons: The location is very peaceful but you are reliant on the Jeep Willys for transport. It works fine unless you want stuff right on your doorstep.
9.6 Excellent

9.2 Excellent
Pros: the lodge itself is gorgeous, surrounded by greenery, the most stunning location! breakfast was fantastic as well! perfect value for money. it is a distance from the town of salento so you will need to taken cheap 5 min taxis but worth it for the views and the isolation!
Cons: i would recommend them putting up insect screens for the windows. there is no fan/ac in the room so it would be good to have the option to leave the windows open (currently there is no screening so leaving the window open means a tonne of bugs flying in).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: La Montana was everything I hoped it’d be an more. The location is unbeatable, and the mountain view is absolutely incredible...it never gets old! There’s also a jacuzzi, small fire pit, and chairs for relaxing. You just have to ask the staff to fill the jacuzzi, it takes about 2 hours which was no problem at all because they tell you ahead of time it’ll take that long. The breakfast is also a great perk! We loved our fresh fruit and eggs every morning. Then there’s the staff... wow! They make you feel like you’re the only guest here because they take such good care of you. I’m not sure what we were expecting, but La Montana totally exceeded our expectations in every way! Just FYI it’s also about a 10 mins taxi (Jeep) ride into town, which we didn’t mind because just that short drive brings you out to this totally private, romantic oasis! Definitely recommend!
Cons: Nothing that I can think of.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very welcoming hosts and very comfortable beds.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The owners were very attentive and patient with our lack in speaking Spanish. They helped us with our laundry, mending a purse, computer needs, books an excellent personalized horseback ride to the El Peno waterfall and drove us to the bus station. They made us feel like family.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Good breakfast, rooms inside the main hostel are quiet and nice. Clean, comfortable, and very quiet (we were on the top floor, with few people staying there, so REALLY quiet!). The owners could not possibly be any kinder and warmer. They hooked us up with Acaime -- a GREAT horseback ride: we had helmets, well-fed and cared-for horses, and a lovely ride. The people here will not steer you wrong for activities. Quick walk to center of town.
Cons: At first, we were in the Family Room, with a separate entrance right onto the street, and it was so loud it was as if there were no walls at all. We were quite miserable, but all it took was one tiny/polite comment, and they moved us up to the top floor "suite". It was fantastic up there. Also, be aware that there is a narrow table in a narrow dining room, and that is the only common space. So no place to lounge around at all. But there are plenty of good cafes in the town for that.

8.3 Excellent
Pros: The owner is great, she spoke Spanish, but slow enough for us to understand, and our Spanish is very basic :) She is very welcoming and kind. The room is OK, with all the necessary basic facilities, and has a good view. The location in Salento is nice - 5 minute walk to the main square.
Cons: The hotel is fine - just what you should expect for that price. Shower is OK but not great - water is warm but it keeps changing temperature and because of that it's always too hot or too cold. WiFi was rather weak in our room.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very nice family, helpful and friendly. My dorm had a spacious bathroom.
Cons: The comunication beforehand was a bit difficult (i had to change my reservation...) but in the end it worked out.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Clean, nice staff, safe, nice kitchen to cook in, good view from the room and a peaceful balcony.
Cons: Salento is small so practically everything is close and still the hostel was a little bit away.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: When the laundry came it was cheap and smelld great. Good hot shower. Very clean room Comfy beds. Equipmented kitchen. Great view. Although the owner doesn't speak English, she tried her best helping in everything she could.
Cons: The hostel owner doesn't speak English. We gave our Laundry to the hostel, it took a lot of time because they are doing it in a laundry place outside salento.

Pros: Views and Location Toilet is clean
Cons: In my Shared Room people were very noisy
7.1 Good
Pros: The place is really clean and we had an useful kitchen. The beds are comfortable.
Cons: We didn’t like the feeling in the hostel. Every ten minutes the woman at the entrance look by the window what you are doing (or with their camera) as soon as you are waking up she’s here and call the owner to say it. After the checkout you can’t do anything. You can’t use the kitchen, the bathroom and you can’t stay on the sofa ... it was the first time we felt like you are disturbing them if you stay after the checkout waiting your bus. We were just allowed to do sandwiches and stay in their living room, but it was not cool, we couldn’t do anything without someone was looking at us.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Amazing location, near salento but very quiet. Superb view. Great rooms (clean, large bathroom)
Cons: The room for 3 people includes a third bed which is a sofa. Not confortable at all
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owner Jordi was so nice, friendly and attentive. Rock, his dog, was sooo cute! the view was spectacular and the rooms were so nice.
Cons: nothing
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Serene property with clean rooms, modern furnishings, lovely large bathrooms and very nice breakfasts. The views across the hills were beautiful.
Cons: Bit of a short dusty walk (only 8-10 mins from town), ok if no cars passing by otherwise you get very dusty - we were there during dry season.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Gran Azul is an incredibly special place. From the moment we arrived we felt so peaceful. We were greeted by Roc, the sweet German Shepherd, and Cristina, our warm and welcoming host. The room had floor to ceiling windows looking out to the hillside. Everything was lush and green, and the walk into town was so easy, I did it in a dress and sandals more than once. We just fell in love with Salento. The room was a nice size, had a safe for valuables, and the bathroom was great. I was impressed at the strength of the water pressure in the shower! Cristina helped arrange a taxi from the airport, gave clear instructions on how to get to Valle de Cocora to hike, and booked us a coffee tour at Finca Don Elias. There were other guests at the property, but it's easy to feel like you are the only ones there. Both my husband and I highly recommend staying here, and hope to come back in the future! Thank you, Cristina, for such a magical experience.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great host, he gave lots of good recommendations and information on the area. Would stay again
9.2 Excellent
Pros: View from the Hotel was amazing. Owner of the resort Mr. Jardin was very kind and he served us great Breakfasts everyday.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The location is great, not in the center of Salento but close enough for a relaxing stay. The only thing that I would comment on is that the rooms are just next to the other so the noise isolation isn't great. You can hear the water running next door or if the kids (if the next door neighbor has kids). However, it is *not* a big deal and you are able to rest and be close to town. The host is a very nice man. Laundry service does have an additional cost of $35 COL pesos per bag.
7.9 Good
Pros: The property is quiet and with a nice view of the surrounding hills. The owner Jordi is kind and arranged horseback riding for us one day in addition to giving us tips on other local sights.
Cons: WiFi wasn’t working well while we were there, although it was repaired the day we left. The road to the resort is a dirt road out the back of Salento, and makes it a bit more challenging to get in and out. The bed was also quite hard (and we have been traveling through Asia and South America). Overall I think it would be considered budget or backpacker-friendly. It just needs a bit more thoughtfulness for the service and comfort of guests. Especially for the price charged off-season and with numerous other options in Salento.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We loved staying at this place in our travel around Colombia. The location is perfect - very quiet and peaceful, with amazing views of the valley below. It is just an easy ten minute along a quiet road to the property. Salento can get quiet busy and noisy, so it was really good to come back to this place afterwards. The breakfasts were nice, and the host was very friendly and gave lots of advice about things to do. The room was large and clean. Loved the chairs out front to sit out and enjoy the view.
Cons: We found the beds quite hard to sleep on - but that is just a preference I suppose!

9.6 Excellent
Pros: The view from the private balcony is great. The room is very spacious and the breakfast is brought to your room. So you can enjoy the breakfast from the balcony with a view.
7.9 Good
Pros: Nice facilities
Cons: The staff member, Andres, was a joke. I went to the desk late at night, and he was dead asleep. It took him several minutes to get himself DRESSED and answer the door. He was in a complete daze when I was trying to talk to him, so either he was sleeping or under the influence. During check in he made the process very strange. He came to my room and took a picture of my passport with his personal cell phone. I didn’t feel comfortable with him at all. He forgot to give me a key to my room - I had to go out of my way to ask for one. It’s a nice place, but hopefully you don’t have to deal with this ridiculous guy.
5.4 Okay
Pros: The view from the balcony was outstanding. It was great to wake up and look out the windows from the bed. The room was well-equipped with a kitchen. It had great character.
Cons: The staff, while nice, made some terrible decisions regarding our stay. We booked for two nights. The first night was great. And then, for no discernible reason, the staff made us change our room. They told us as we were going out for the day to hike. So we had to go back to our room to pack for the move before we could go for our hike so near you turn on the air conditioner just don't turn it on very low. The second room was identical to the first, so it made no sense for us to change. However, the second room had had its wood floor recently oiled. When we laid down in the bed, the smell of oil was overwhelming. We had to sleep with all windows and doors open during the night to avoid the noxious smell of the floor. These inconsiderate staff decisions spoiled what could have been a very nice stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Close to town/ good location. Quiet at night. Very friendly staff. Claudia, Sandra were so patient with us as we didn’t speak any Spanish and Andres brought us coffee every morning with a smile. Very clean. Good wi fi and view

Pros: They have 4 shared bathrooms and only 6 rooms, so shower is always available (3 with warm water). Balcony is really big with tables and hammocks and view to mountains. Enjoyed chilling there. Wifi was good and kitchen had space enough to cook. Kitchen also had warm water which makes dishing easier. 2 rooms looks to the mountains and are best value for money. 4 rooms looks to the street, but it is not the main street so you will have your sleep. Everything is close.
Cons: All good.

Pros: The garden is so beautiful and the staff really friendly. The shower was nice and hot water! Great view and location. 5 min Walk to the main Square with lots of Restaurants. Room was big but had some issues ...
Cons: our room, which was more expensive cause we booked a double private room (called double espresso), was unfortunately in the basement without any view or fresh air (there is a wall in front of the window) Plus it was kind of humid in the room all the time so not even the towels could dry ... so the Air in the room wasn’t that good ...
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Friendly Staff, especially Christian and Maya. Social Hostel with a nice view. Good breakfast for 7000cop
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Well equipped kitchen and good location
Cons: Atmosphere could be better. Not enough chill out areas for such a big hostel.

The staff here are wonderful, Julian and Luis specifically were extremely friendly and helpful! The location from the city plaza is very accessible, the place is spotless clean and the views are epic. I would highly recommend staying here!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff was always friendly and helpful. The breakfast and bar were always nice and a good way to meet others.
Cons: My room was next to a main road which had motorcycle, car, and pedestrian traffic almost constantly. The noise was pretty significant. If you're looking for a private room, try to get one with a balcony which faces the mountains and are not backed up to the street. Probably much quieter.
7.5 Good
Pros: Nice view and fine breakfast
Cons: Beds weren’t too steady and small bathroom in the room

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Location was great plenty of self catering shops near by, butcher, bakery, fruits &veg etc. Short walking distance to the main square and local attractions. Great shower and WiFi worked well.
Cons: There was no dish detergent to wash up any plates in the kitchen a simple requirement all hostels (with kitchens) should have. The communal areas are not cleaned every day.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: One of the best hostels in my life! Everything is nice
6.7 Good
Pros: The curry was nice but too expensive for columbia.. Pretty touristic price.
Cons: There was one shower and toilet on the first floor. Especially the shower was pretty dirty and I never felt like it was cleaned during the day. No common kitchen or even a fridge to store food. It was not allowed to enter the kittchen, we even had to sign that. We only met the owner on the last day. Unfortunate because he was the only one speaking english.
6.3 Good
Pros: Great location. Easy to get anywhere in town and the main square is about a 5 minute walk. The staff here is also great. Very friendly and able to provide information about what to do in the area.
Cons: The main issue I had with my stay was the level of cleanliness of our room. When we entered the room the smell of mildew hit you right away. The room also looked like it had not been cleaned as there was a lot of hair all over the floors as well as on the wall of the shower. The bedding also looked unclean. We were here for three nights and the room was never cleaned and therefore our towels were never changed. Because of the moisture in the room, the towels never dried. There is also an open space in the bathroom, which leads to the outside that can’t get closed so we also constantly had flies and gnats inside of our room. The room was also very noisy and you could hear all conversations outside and the headboard was not actually attached to the bed so if you made any type of movement the headboard would bang against the wall which also made it difficult to sleep. Overall, this room felt very disgusting and I would never stay here again or recommend someone staying in this specific room. The hostel has great reviews so perhaps you may want to make sure you see which room you are staying in because we were very surprised and disappointed when we arrived.
10.0 Excellent

Cons: could be cleaner stuffy air in the room not so many kitchen supplies
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We stayed for 3 nights in a private double. Room is clean and had soft bed (exceptional for Colombia
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is the best place I've stayed in 6 weeks in Colombia. Great welcome and friendly staff. The apartment is highly recommended as the kitchen is fully equipped and there's also hot water. Better to stay in one of the back rooms with no dogs barking or traffic noise. Comfortable sofas and balconies make it even better. Such great value for money and they even serve good curries!
Cons: Nothing at all!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The room is big and clean, hot shower, good wifi when it’s working, kind staff.
Cons: Kitchen is in another building, not far, but it’s not well equipped, like no enough crockery, no soap ecc, and it’s not very clean, it’s greasy everywhere, they should improve it. The rest was super!

3.8 Mediocre
Cons: The initial information on booking.com was very misleading. When we arrived, our double room turned out to be a twin room with separate beds. The man who greeted us was unfriendly and continued to be so for our entire unpleasant stay. The beds were uncomfortable and the shower had no real hot water to speak of. As a result we decide to cut our stay short which cost us a small fortune in cancellation fees, however I've never been so happy to pay to leave somewhere in my life. I would definitely advise others to stay elsewhere.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location, perfect owner and perfect view! After the moment we arrived we felt so welcome an the owner was so hospitable that we forgot about our 10 hour drive to Salento. The place is so beautiful and idyllic that everything became perfect. The rooms were unbelievably clean! The floor looked like a mirror. You will understand when you see it. The owner spoke perfect Englisch and explained everything there was to do in Salento. She recommended us the tours and even explained the time and day we should do it. The restaurants she recommended where really as good as she said they would be. Try the mix restaurant(don’t remember the name) we had a Jack Daniels beef burger it was awesome. Love from Colombia! In Medellin try the Marriott hotel and ask for a room on the 4th floor next to the pool!

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Paula and her family are LOVELY. This is a family-owned finca and I had the great pleasure to share a lovely moment with the family :) The view is superb, at the top of Salento and yet only 5 min walk up from the main street. You feel like at home, room and bathroom are spacious, you can really settle in. Also WiFi worked pretty well! The garden is AMAZING! THOSE COLORS! And you can hear/see birds almost all day long. Perfect days as far as I'm concerned.
Cons: I would have liked some fruits to be included in the standard breakfast. Other than this, nothing to say :-)
