The views from the room were excellent with sounds of the ocean lulling you to sleep at night. Staff were friendly. Shower had good water pressure. If people are expecting an LCD TV and the latest in furnishing this is not the place for you.
Staff was excellent. View was good. Jacuzzi should be heated . . .we know this may seem strange for an Italian hotel but an unheated jacuzzi is just weird
Nice view of Scalea beach line down to Cirella island.Private beach with also a stony shore. We enjoyed looking at many kinds of fish around a stony shore.
Quiet location, attractive setting, calm atmosphere, apparent high standards throughout, good views I checked out straightaway because the only room they could offer faced inwards and was at ground level. They were very nice and said there would be no canx charges. I am sure I would have been very happy if I could have had a better room. The lady on reception who handled the problem was superb.
shower and location. Air condition worked well. Pool entertainment no attendants on beach. No water for shower on beach.
The location of the hotel was perfect, central of Scalea and overlooking the beach with great views. The staff were friendly and eager to help you even though most didnt speak english. Overall a very enjoyable experience and i intend to stay there again in October. Only two members of staff spoke english and they need to vary the breakfast selection on a daily basis
Everything! The hotel needs more advertizing ,show better the location.
We missed our train to Naples because the guy on duty couldnt organise a taxi and was even asking us for a taxi number. As soon as his replacement came on, we got a taxi straight away but it was too late and we had to play E300 to get to Naples in order to make our flight.
Only an overnight stay so unable to give lots of detail. Dining room closed when we arrived at 9.15 pm, this was main problem, Dining room closed too early
Nothing really, it is stuck in a 1970s British Butlins timewarp. The original room we were provided was nothing like the website depicted. After complaining they attempted to make us feel obliged to them as they gave us an 'upgrade' which it was not.....they 'upgraded' us to what we thought we had booked. We disliked everything about this resort, if you would like details, give me a much larger text box. It was pure misery and we left 3 days early without even asking for a refund as we were in such a hurry to get away from there!
Beach, sea, water sports. Bella Italia held in the hotel during our stay. Internet was not working during our stay. Food in the restaurant leaves much to be desired.
The Hotel is located close to the beach; there is nice swimming pool (the deep one so not occupied by small children). The old disigne comming from years 1970-1980; hardly possible to find english speaking staff; Generally so so service; a lot of people but they are unable to respond to any question without confirming it with the manger who is only one. They gave us 3-person room with additional bed instead of 4 person room, we booked. The staff in dinning room could not organize the table for us (what is funny enought because there is about 100-200 tables). It is hardly possible to sleep befor 1 am because of events ("show time", karaoke and so on); the air- conditionnig is (propably) as old as the disigne of the hotel and works in try and pray mode.
There was an additional pay (club card), the amount was not shown neither on the homepage of booking nor on the confirmation. This created irritation between us and the hotel.
Hotel placed on the beach. I would expect that the 4 stars hotel is in better condition. Looks better on photos than in reality.
The staff were very friendly and the hotel was right on the beach (w/ a view of the castle) and main street in Scalea. There was gated parking. The french restaurant nearby that the staff recommended had good food and service, and the staff there were very kind to our toddler son. The hotel served eggs for breakfast, the only hot breakfast offered among the 7 hotels we visited in central and southern Italy. Essentially, the hotel was basic. Room and common areas were somehat dated. Room itself was fairly small, though it did have a balcony and a view of the sea. Hotel and town were a little depressing in the off-season overall. We paid a similar price for far superior hotels in the other locations during our trip. However, the pickings were slim in the Maratea area on booking.com in November.
Good location and friendly and helpful staff.
The hotel was located close to relatives who lived in nearby town. Front desk staff very helpful. Located on Tyrennian Sea and we spent an afternoon sitting in seaside chairs relaxing after a very long journey to Scalea. Nice pool. Easy walking distance into town.
very good Hotel
The family atmosphere, the caring attitude of each member of staff, the good humour, the interest they took in each guest, the kindness in doing everything possible to help with practical issues, such as driving me to the train station free of charge on my day of departure.
Very reasonable price. Great location (on the beach, a block from the main promenade). Secured parking. Friendly staff. Very modern interior common spaces. Next door to the best neopolitan pizza i've had outside of Naples! Although the common spaces of the hotel were modern and new, the room was not. Not necessarily a deal breaker, but the bed was saggy and uncomfortable. I did not check out the hotel's beach, but from the beaches we did go to, the indication was that the beaches get better the further south you go. I thought the best beaches were adjacent to the island - which is about 2km+ from the hotel.
The staff were amazing, so friendly and helpful. The owner spoke excellent English and was very welcoming. We arrived late and were very tied and hungry and the restaurant was about to close, but it was no trouble for the staff to serve us an excellent meal. Our room was spotlessly clean and modern. We had booked a superior room view and it was huge with breathtaking views to the water. Nothing everytrhing was great. Only wished we had booked two nights instead of just one!
very clean No choice of breakfast. We were given a croissant and could pick a yoghurt.
Staff were extremely helpfull but a bit stressed during breakfast. Our room was terrible and needed reparation. Every time we took a shower it was water all over. Uncomfortable bed.
Located just in front of the sea and conviniently not far from the railway station and the main street of Praia-A-Mare town. Staff speak only Italian. There was only one girl at the reception who spoke some English and we had to catch her to ask some basic questions. In general, Praia-A-Mare is not an international resort, you have to either learn Italian or go somewhere else. The hotel itself is quite old and too shabby for the price, two beds joint together to form a double bed, no mini-bar in the room. "Private beach" and "free rent-a-bike service" advertised on the website turned out to be paid for. The "sea view" from the room was limited to a strip of sea in the distance. Breakfast consisted of coffe and croissant only, the service was extremely slow (like everywhere in the town).
Hotel was basic and comfortable, location was not bad however it was difficult to find. Rooms were small, lack of mini-bar/fridge meant it was impossible to keep a supply of fresh cold water. parking was a bit haphazourd and the lack of a lift meant that luggage needs to be brought to the rooms via the staris.
I did not like anything about my stay. This hotel was not welcoming to nonItalian speaking guests. This hotel is not for the average tourist. It was more like a get away for families who live in the area. It was noisy and unfriendly. No one spoke English. If you compared the brochure I got in the lobby with the way the hotel was described on this site you would think it was 2 different hotels.
The location. Situated across the beach. Activities also for children nearby.
The owner was a very congenial host who did every thing possible to make our stay pleasant and comfortable. We would certainly like to return there.
The location to the sea was within walking distance and right on the main walking strip of the village. The rooms, food, bar and service were excellent. However, what exceeded all of that and our 5 star hotel in Rome was the owner Milko Branca. He is a wonderful person to know as he is smart, funny and loved our three children.
