The decor, facilities and location were top notch.
Staff were extremely helpful and very friendly. Rooms were very clean and comfortable.
All good All good
Fine deign, good food, attentive staff. The charges for the Internet were quite high--30 ZAR for 30 minutes--and parking cost about 35 ZAR overnight.
there is nothing mattress should be change, old furnishing,
Treatment by their late night security personnel
breakfast buffet The room tempature was uncontrolable. Changed rooms three times because room 1 no hot water and no heat, room 2 got hot wated but no heat, and room 3 got hot water and heat but couldn't control the temp so it was not comfortable. I also book 2 rooms and only 1 room was reserved. Had to fight and wait 2 hours to get the second room. The front desk was horrible !!!!!!
The hotel arranged for car service to meet us at the airport. As we were coming from overseas and laying over before leaving the country the following day we needed to relax and enjoy our time in Johannesburg. That we did. Restaurant, service and concierge were all wonderful. Thank you so much! Family highlight and not to me missed: visiting Mandela Square
At over 600 euros a night.Taking advantage of a situation.
Great location & staff
Close to sandton city and Mandela square for shopping and restaurants. Executivel level ( 6th floor) was great with the little extras - drinks and breakfast, etc R40.00 guest parking fee- Guests should park for free. In the showers, only soap dish provided. No space for shampoo or conditioner.
Service was very friendly I was not told when I checked in that the water was going to be cut off through out the night until the morning. I was told when I checked out the next morning that a manager would contact me to address the issue. Never Happened!!!
Hotel Staff seems to be sometimes very unorganized, especially the organization of the free Shuttle Bus to Shopping center is not very good, the Bus is often not in time or basically not available.
Wonderful experience, staff amazing, executive level was more than worth it.
All staff were very welcoming and helpful.
Space ,smoking room, breakfast, roomservice meal, location, key card deactivated twice ; plug in handbasin would still not disengage even after reported on morning one ;Pet hate is guest supplies (shampoo etc )in clear bottles and you cant read the labels unless you have your glasses on in the shower! . internet booking did not work so hassle at check in and then advised that i was a non show and I would pay a penalty!.
Location, non-smoking rooms. I know the hotel from having stayed there many years ago, and it was a good memory. Not worthy of 4 stars - worn-through carpets, broken toilet seat.
Very convenient hotel, near big shopping mall. Luxury hotel.
Close to Mandela Square shops and restaurants, lovely quiet area
very quite hotel except at the bar/restaurant where smoking and no smoking people are mixed. kindness of some staff member
attitude of staff lighting in room was minimal
flies in the room. door locks that doesn't require a key to be opened
Nice hotel, excellent breakfast
It is located close to the Gautrain station as well as the shopping centre The room was not ready for us to book into. They gave us another room but then kept on confusing us with the people that would have booked into that room.
Rooms, lobby, and garden were very comfortable. We loved the breakfast buffet. Pool could be kept more clean.
Sorry to say, didnt like any thing. How can the hotel cut (not reserve) the amount of the first night 12 days prior to arrival using my credit card, although Booking.com rules doesnt allow that. Please send me an explanation regarding this issue.
The hotel is situated within walking distance of both the Sandton Gautrain Station and Sandton Shopping area. It is in an area that is safe to walk around both day and night.
The staff was top notch. Most went above and beyond to assist. The room was comfortable and accommodating. They made me feel welcome and made it easy to relax after a couple of very busy weeks of travel. Strong WIFI, nice business services area. I'd stay there again. Thank you! The bar was a disappointment and a stark contrast to the rest of the hotel. I waited about 5 minutes before I finally had to get someone's attention to take my order (even though there were 2 workers behind the bar the whole time). The layout is not conducive to starting conversations among others at the bar and neither was the staff. I felt like I was inconveniencing them. Also, restaurant staff came to the bar and talked about dining patrons right in front of the guests at the bar. Not professional.
Clean, friendly, easy
The staff was very attentive and wonderful. Wifi in my room was not working
Truly a "home away from home". I used to stay at the big hotels in and around Sandton City. Not anymore, from now on it's going to be The Thatchfoord Lodge. The setting is beautiful, the sound of the adjacent river is most calming, and yet, one is so close to businesses and restaurants. I can highly recommend this lovely little hotel to anybody.
A very nice resting place away from the city noise and stress. The landlady is always available to make you feel confortable. The breakfast is a must facing the outside pool....This mansion with a thach roof and the outside garden made me feel at home.
The Manager was very helpful and we had a lovely breakfast in the morning. The television was terrible and due to the fact it was not safe to go out at night, did not suit our requirements for an overnight stay. If we were to do this again we would stay in a hotel/guest house nearer the airport. The lodge was lovely, comfortable and Ria the Manager could not be more helpful, but just did not suit our requirements and would not recommend for anybody who is just doing a stop over for one night.
I liked the location best. Sandton is a safe area to stay. I had several misunderstandings with the concierge desk. It was un fortunate.
great staff who were polite and friendly with good basic-business facilities at the 4start level
Massive power cut at 12 pm at night caused me to relocate to another place at 130am in the morning, gor a refund though.... Massive power cut at 12 pm at night caused me to relocate to another place at 130am in the morning, got a refund though....
Massively overpriced for things like breakfast ( I could get the same breakfast in the adjacent mall for less than half the price!), Wi-Fi access and meeting room costs are a total rip off. Worst of all they 'forgot' my reservation for a car to collect me from OR Tambo Airport which left me stranded for over an hour after flying in overnight.
The overall service was great (sometimes the service can feel forced in africa, however, this was genuine and welcoming), the bed and pillows perfect and the rooftop bar and pool was immaculate. I was surprised by the luxury of the hotel as I had originally thought of holidays inn as an average 3 star hotel, but this was exquisite and quite luxurious. Small things, the key cards were not always functioning on the first go (a issue they are fixing at the moment), and the water took a while to get warm. But again small issues that really didnt affect the overall stay.
Good standard and location.
Good room , cleaness tthere is nothing
The hotel was pleasant, well located and the staff were very friendly, A good central place to stay The resturant on the 9th floor was very limited with the menu and service was poor. After 35 minutes I walked out without even being asked to place an order
The customer service was excellant, staff through out were freindly and knowledgeable. Walking distance to shopping and Mandella square was a big plus. General Arrival proceedures could be improved although any issues were dealt with exceeding well.
We were impressed with the upmarket decor and facilities available. The service provided by the hotel lived up to confirm this impression. The swimming pool was small and the gym facilities were very limited
