At first glance it appeared to be fine and in a lovely parkland location . We found that the staff were very kind, helpful and efficient .

It was obviously tired and out of date. The area directly around the pool was somewhat shabby with some mucky areas and older sun “lounges”. They could probably resolve this issue by laying down some artificial grass or something akin to astroturf in some parts. The old sun beds on our bedroom terrace weren’t clean having been stained by bird feces which had come through the open slatted area directly above the terrace. This wasn’t cleaned off in the time we were there. It didn’t affect us in the sense that we didn’t use these beds but we would have been put off using them in any event had we been inclined to sunbathe there. Also - no table and chairs in the terrace. We had to “commandeer” (with the help of one of the staff) two of the plastic chairs from the outside dining area so that we were able to sit out on our terrace when we wanted to. The bathroom we had was “nice” but also old and outdated (no easy access to shower for elderly people) and the shower fitting was such that the room was likely to be flooded if you weren’t careful. I feel uneasy about saying all of this because the staff that we dealt with were all so kind and efficient. However it has to be said, considering the cost one incurs to stay at a place like this, where you might consider that the cost reflects the standard and cleanliness of the accommodation. This place certainly doesn’t and regrettably for us fell short of being the establishment it claims to be in the various descriptions we found on it before booking. I am aware that many have given it an excellent rating but am not so sure why. Perhaps if they had stayed at some other places charging at a similar level (as we had) they would see quite clearly that this place sadly does not “cut the mustard” and really should not be classed at the star level it has been .
