I'd like the staff and the owners, very familiar, helpful and friendly. The drinks at the bar are really cheap, the breakfast made on your desire. It's not a hotel, it's more a family guesthouse. Some things are missing, like wireless internet, no telephone. A frigde in the room is really important at the Algarve. The shower cabin is tiny, the shower head was calcified, missing small towels and bath mat.
Staff were very friendly and as helpful as they could be with their little knowledge of English and my pigeon Portuguese! I would only recommend if you have a car. It was in the middle of nowhere and when we arrived it was about 8pm. there is no real restaurant facility in the hotel and no shops nearby so that evening we dined in our room with a small tub of pringles and airline bought water! sad times! this hotel is a bit more like somebodys house and it was about a 30minute drive from the beach. due to this we subsequently moved hotels after just 1 night.
Reception is very good. French speaking reception. We are able to rent a (bottom-of-the-line) mountain bike at this hotel. A lot of track to bike around ! It's a good place to start mountain-bike ride.
Quiet room, nice view, comfortable bed. friendly helpful staff (needed to speak Portuguese). Bus stops nearby, local cafe provided a traditional good value meal.
Proximity to resort. Air conditioning was an extra-this was not highlighted at the time of booking. Also the a/c unit was not effective.
Yhe staff at the hotel were really helpful and hotel was really clean
The people running this hotel were very helpful, going out of their way to make your stay an enjoyable one.
Spotlessly clean, family run business. Lovely clean pool. Very welcoming atmosphere.
Price of the excellent breakfast Hot water was only aired - would not get hotter. No one spoke English - managed to get by through speaking French
Staff is nice, pool is fine and teh pool and ping pong table make it easir to pass the tim Location is far off from anything, Faro is dead at night and not really a interesting town, the beach is not nice, Albufeira on the other hand is 30 minutes drive from the hotel so if you want nice beaches, nightlife and resturants you are better of getting something closer
The staff were friendly. The breakfast was a welcome extra. The room was fairly comfortable and nice bathroom Balcony didnt lock
Location and non smoking floors
The rooms are new and great. They charged my credit card 5 days before I came without my signature or anything.
Excellent location and friendly helpful staffs The hot water system not so great and bathroom has moulds on the ceiling.
front desk is very helpful. SHowers are very small. Breakfast needs more variety, there was hardly anything except bread and cheese
Meeting the man from Zimbawe and also the owner. Very helpful and friendly
Clean and comfortable, idea for a stopover close to the airport The area around the hotel in general
The hotel catered for smokers. The staff wwere very helpful without being intrusive. Although the room was very clean - the smell of the cleaning products used was quite overpowering.
Hotel Staff very good and helpful. Hotel very central, just round the corner from the bus station and train station and Faro beautiful Marina. Rooms very basic, pillows were so hard. The triple room we reserved was small double with a bunk bed thrown at the botton of the bed/.
Next to the train and bus station (2 min.). Short walking distance to the old town as well. None.
Helpful staff, pleasant hotel interior, clean room and bathroom, decent bed, AC, balcony with view Ugly street and unattractive main entrance (but a lot better from the other side)
Good value for money. Reception staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast rather basic
good value for money, very close to train station
The hotel was very convenient for all transport/s. Room small but adequate. Complimentary continental breakfast also adequate.
get waht you pay for, good value lights went in bathroom and the lift stopped working cause the cleaner got the hoover jammed in between shaft and the door,
The fact that the room had a patio, and the cleanliness The room was extremely small, and had no view whatsoever, despite the advertised. The room was located at the back of the hotel, far from the main entrance, having to pass through the breakfast room to get there. It faced the emergency exit of the nearby hospital, and since it was on the first floor, I could hardly sleep, because of the noise.
The Residencial Afonso lll was a great place for us to stay as we were flying out of Faro at 6 am. It is a 2 min walk from the train station and seemed to be in a good location. Staff was fantastic and very eager to assist with directions, information etc. Rooms were small but comfortable. A very nice place, for the budget traveller. Bathtub was permenantly stained where bathmat should be and bathroom could have been cleaner. I think it was more the appearance of being dirty (eg old grout, stained floor etc) than actual dirt.
Close to the airport. My flight cam in late and the hotel was easy to find with directions from the airport. Only stayed overnight. Room was Ok. Breakfast terrible. No real coffee or fruit juice.
The breakfast, the central location Two single beds pushed together to make a "double bed"
lovely private balcony, decent breakfast selection internet wasn't working
The location and the design of the hotel.
Great location in the centre of Faro with stunning coastal views from rooftop the Restaurant The noise from the town square can be an issue in the early hours
Breacfast on the 4th floor with nice view to the salt marshes I did not now do I need to pay additionally for drinks from refregerator or it is included in price
Convenient location, very clean and comfortable room found the sound proofing minimal with noticable noise from adjacent rooms
Good location, easy to find easy to check in and out nice scenery at the breakfast room air-condition was poor carrage was expensive (10 e/ngt), same as bigger cities
No bedside table No facecloth No tissues Very minimalist decor
No room service menu - only on bar menu which was ham & cheese or cheese & ham sandwiches!;
Good Location Information pack in room not good
comfortable and relaxed.Friendly staff who are helpful. Breakfast prepared too far in advance.could be varied.Car park too expensive and poor design
We liked the location, the view from our room to the marina, the excellent rooftop restaurant, the friendliness of the staff.
We have stayed over many years, one of our favourites in Europe NA
Fantastic location and view. The hotel is difficult to find by car.
Everything. Staff were so courteous. Service excellent all the small touches added just made holiday. Just could have a little more choice for eveing meals. Nothing wrong with quality which was excellent. Which would have kept us in hotel on evenighs
The location and the extremely friendly staff (it was very quite in the hotel so that might have positively influenced the friendliness of the staff and our very pleasant, relaxed experience). However, we have been there multiple times before and we always had a good experience we have no complains whatsover
good room, nice view, generally pleasant staff, excellent included breakfast main restaurant closed on the 3 days of our stay. stroppy attitude to relatives using pool for 3 hours.
The stff were delightful and the hotel well appointed and peaceful
staff very helpful and prepared to go the extra mile
quality of food, cleanliness, friendly and helpful staff small bath, wine list not very descriptive (who knows anything about portuguese wines!).
practice sports in hotel Gym
We selected hotel EVA in Faro for location and value for money. Both were excellent. The hotel is in the same building as the bus station for the lines from faro to Sevilla, Spain, and at the same time 200m from the old town. Internet should be free of charge, as there is no running cost for it. Safety box in room was not large enough for my laptop.
The staff were very friendly and helpful and the short distance to local bars, restaurants and shops was a bonus.
Staff were really great, location was good, beds were reasonably comfortable although it was two singles and as we'd just got engaged we wanted a double. Wifi didn't work, beds were crammed in- and there were three, when we only needed the one double- room service selection was really poor, facilities were ok but the pool was absolutely freezing, shower leaked everywhere and the bathroom grouting had mould growing on it, room temperature control didn't work so on a hot day was pouring out hot air into the room...to say it was a four star hotel it has two star qualities. Be glad the staff are fantastic because the rest of it was really poor. Would definitely never go back.
Good location yet very quiet Don't know why we weren't given a balcony when we paid for most expensive room and hotel was far from full
Hotel Eva is a very pleasant place with helpful staff and great facilities, which makes it an ideal place to stay in faro,If their is a down side it would be that their can be some street noise but this depends on which room you are staying in as to the level of noise that you will hear.
the location very poor service for a 4 star hotel: no working safe in the room, a mini bar with 3 bottles of water, no working internet service.....
Great view , good location in Faro, very nice spa .
The gym WiFi access not available
Breakfasts excellent and great to sit beside the window on the top floor sipping coffee and watching planes approaching the airport, with the marina below. Overall the hotel provides very good for money. Internet booking saved about 7 euros per night While we were there we booked an extra night for a fortnight later and were given suite style accommodation for that night, which was excellent recently refurbished accommodation. Swimming pool on the roof is a real bonus, with excellent views across the coastline. Accommodation very central, excellent position. There is a busy street below and the main bus and coach station, however, two layers of double glazed doors and thick curtains means that sleep is not a problem Other guest reviews I had seen were not as positive about the hotel as I thought they could be. Unable to get a marina side view even though requested in email.
very family friendly, very relaxed, professional staff, great breakfast
size of modern bathroom and cleanliness of room. very difficult to find even with GPS. felt that the dining facility was expensive. No others nearby.
Big apartments. Hotel location - quiet and near the beach. Away from crouds Room decoration could be improved.
To be a quiet place Yes ,I didn't like, at the bathroom, the fact that the shower is attached to the wall by a stiff device. It should be flexible in order to be orientated towards your body.If not you have to stand almost against the wall
I have stayed at the Formosa Park Hotel 4 times and have had a great experience every time. The staff are great, the 2-bed appartments are fabulous. The proximity to the beach and the nature reserve are an added bonus. The pool is lovely - one of the best hotel pools of my experience.I have no fault to find with any aspect of this hotel. The fact that we go back year after yera speaks for itself.
The hotel was immaculate, rooms very comfortable and staff both efficient and friendly. A very enjoyable experience.
The pool was great for children. Good Towel service. Got upgraded to pool view.
Uniformly excellent. The staff are always friendly, helpful and pleasant
Location is amazing - beach & golf.. Pool v. good. Didn't receive sleeping arrangements we had booked.
Swimming pool and how clean it was, lovely gardens, peace and quiet, nice not being surrounded by high rise apartments or other hotels Not a complaint but it would be nice if there were a few tavernas near by for a drink by the beach
We unfortunately got some bad news very early into our stay at the hotel and the staff were magnificent in assisting us to re-arrange flights home. Staff were brilliant
Proximity to Faro, and the location near the beach and Val do Lobo restuarants. the hotel is generally tired and in need of an up-date, however it is still good, but perhaps not worthy of 5 stars. The breakfast is anly average and would benefit from real fresh jusices, not canned and also more variety, especially grapeftruit juice. Also, the fresh fruit was limited ansd several options were canned fruits.
The Hotel was in an excellent location within minutes of the beach and restuarants of Vale Do Lobo, the rooms were spacious and staff were extremley helpful when required. Bedrooms are a little tired and ready for a refurb but not to the extent of being shabby
good food and athmosphere
the peacefullness pool side service was terrible and tv coverage for 5star was poor
people very friendly felt it was a little tired
This is a 3 star hotel - certainly not a 5 star. Rooms are tired and require refurbishment. They don't even have proper showers. The pool area is crowded and too small. Totally overpriced. Tired rooms. Simply not 5 star by any stretch of the imagination.
Location of hotel close to restaurants and beach Dated room. Uncomfortable beds.
Hotel staff, relax atmosphere, luxury No
Easy for golf, lovely pool and very helpful staff Nothing - every thing was good.
good proximity to airport for late flights, and location on the beach nothing
close proximity to the beach and friendly staff made our stay pleaseant and hotel views where decent dated decoration and facilities not enough pillows and uncomfortable bed
The location of the hotel is very good, just a few steps form the beach. The staff was extremely helpful and nice.
I loved the hotel. The location cannot get any better, for the beach is literally 10 seconds away and it's only 5 mins by car from the airport, and yet you get peace and quiet since it's located on the isolated lagoon that can only be reached by crossing the bridge. The staff were very helpful, spoke very good English, very kind. They gave a lift for my very early departure and made me a lunch pack. The room had a balcony facing the beach and Atlantic Ocean and the dining space is facing the lagoon where you can see the Sun coming out and have breakfast while enjoying the view. I abosolutely had an amazing time and the very best time of my life. Nothing I can say.
it was 10m from the beach, not far from the airport and had really friendly staff perhaps the bathroom - but it was value for money
We only went for a short break and really felt relaxed and pampered when we left.
Nice apartment. The reception closed before we arrived (17:00) and there was left no note on the door on on how to get the key. It took half an hour to puzzle out that se had to find a restaurant who then in turn called security. Calling the hotel didn't help as no one picked up the phone.
The apartment with private pool is fantastic. Nice garden with pool view where we took our breakfast. Comfortable rooms. Nice design and areas.
I would recomend encosta do lago resort club, I can not speak highly enough of it, wonderful, wonderful, wonderful, do not hesitate to stay here
The great staff ,all very kind and helpfull.Everybody is a great professional. Very hard to find ,even with the help of a GPS!!
Very nice building/achitecture (old palace with modern style hotel complex), very nice dining area in old palace, nice pool, nice rooms, absolutly recommended for short stays Staff seems sometimes unexperienced, for longer stays menu little bit limited
The staff was very friendly and attentive. The rooms were very clean and modern, all new fixtures and the bed was very comfortable. Gorgeous garden and property. Food left something to be desired, and the pool bar wasn't always staffed - at one point several guests were searching the Spa, hotel lobby, etc. for someone to place a drink order with. There isn't much to do around the property, which if you get cabin fever like I did by the 3rd day, you have to take a cab ride to Faro or some of the larger towns to sight see and eat at new restaurants.
A Portuguese 1800s Palace turned into a luxury boutique hotel with an excellent restaurant overlooking Faro. Avoid high room numbers, it's a long walk to the last rooms.
Staff was very friendly, the bed was big and comfortable, the masseurs were very good, fresh lemonade to welcome you at the front desk Dinner (not at all what would you expect from the pretentions and the price -was totally average!), the staff, although friendlywas sometimes inneficientely busy - or too many of them, or just not there....
The staff where friendly and helpful and the location was very peacfull
Was there for a short overnight. got off at wrong exit was told two direction signs had come down and weren't replaced. staff is wonderful room very comfortable, you need a gift shop of some sort
It is not real palace as for example pousada de Queliz
An amazing mix of tasteful restorIon of Baroque palace with cutting-edge contemporary designed accommodation. Beautiful setting but close to authentic Portuguese small town traditions. Nothing of note
Absolutely everything-the food, the location, the beautiful old palace bulidings which had been so cleverly linked with the new. It was exceptional and I will return
The quiteness, the views, the nice decoration, the pool, the breakfast. Everything was very nice. They don't provide free internet ; it costs 10 € per hour !!! For a big and luxury hotel (and certainly not cheap), they should provide internet in every room for free, we are in 2009.
nice combination of ancient building with modern hotel, attractive pool area (with small pool), large room with king size bed, free garage parking, free WLAN, attractive buffet breakfast and some good dinner options
great value for money, good room, not big for 2, but ok. Breakfast is nourishing, the hotel has its own confectioner, all the bakery is very delicious, especially Portuguese national round cakes with custard. The hotel is near to the centre and city mall with shops, pastelarias and small restaurants they have no ironing room or at least iron. Also there is no computer with i-net. So if you are unlucky to travel without netbook, prepare to look for an i-net cafe.
Location, cleanliness, staff Not applicable
We have been travelling around Italy, Southern Spain and Portugal for three months and this hotel is easily the best value for money accommodation we found. Staff are wonderful, very friendly, professional and always anxious to help. The hotel has a nice restaurant with a set menu (changes daily) of a three course meal with either a fish or meat dish for seven and a half euros. They also have a great (and cheap) coffee shop with some of the best cakes we could find. We stayed four nights and wished it had been more. Faro is a lovely little town where you can spend quite a few days looking around and just taking it easy. We met people who have been coming back to this hotel for years and we can understand why.
location was tops ,staff more than helpful and it met all my requirements of my holiday Balcony door did not shut properly , was no security risk but noise was a slight issue room 207
nice staff, esp at reception, spoke fluent English, well situated hotel, clean and modern it was like it was still undir construction, not complete, the breakfast was not so interesting
great location. very competent courteous and helpful staff. excellent breakfast! rooms were exceptionally clean and provided all amenities. would highly recommend great value for a stay in Algarve
The accessabilityto local shops, restaurants and seafront. The smart appearance and politeness of the staff. Newly refurbished to a high standard. Would definitely stay again if in the area.
Family room, clean, well equipped. One of the staff members at the reception desk was kind of rude. The rest of the staff was good. The room we stayed in was tiny. The pillows were very old and unconfortable.
Excellent location and very clean. Also, all facilities are in hotel for food and beverage.
Proximity of excellentn restaurants and services Parking problem (no street parking aside from 2 spots)
The hotel was very quiet and we had view on a church from our window. Someone walked into our room straight after we checked in - we think that it was cleaner.....
Friendly and helpfull staff.
The room door lock was pretty poor and staff merely showed me how to open it with my shoulder
it was clean, comfortable, good location, close to airport and walkable to all town amenities.
No hastle No
The rooms are spacious, clean and the hotel is very quiet. The staff are nice and helpful and the location is good, about 10 minutes walk to the city center. The only thing I didnt like too much was the breakfast, as it is very basic. A bit more choice and variety would be really good.
The room was quite big. It had a separate living room as well a jacuzzi. The breakfast was excellent. It is a bit far from the bus/train station. It was a bit difficult to find it.
parking and cenral
The cleanliness of the hotel was superb and the staff knowledge was excellent, providing maps and showing you where everything was. The lack of facilities at the hotel was disappointing, there was nothing to do when the weather was bad and I am pleased I didn't have the children with me because that would have been a nightmare.
Everything was ok, we stayed there very shortly but it was clean, easy to find,
Accessibility A bit old fashioned
The villas are comfortable, nicely refurbished and quite attractive. I did not have hot water in the first day which meant having cold showers... something that I always detested, even if after a lovely day at the beach
The birds and the trees. The people of the front desk. They tried to charge me with the telephones calls that are toll free. They are very rude.
Great facilities at a great rate and staff very accomodating. N/A
Nice spacious suite, well equipped, great resort facilities. We felt we were more nuisances than guests at Bobby's restaurant.
great area, pool area great and location was super TV was not clear, toilet seat kept falling down rooms a bit shabby,
