Selection of breakfast options At the time of our brief stay one side of the building was swathed in building works
very good restaurant
A very friendly and welcoming hotel. Knowledgeable and helpful staff and excellent food. The room was very comfortable.
Pleasant small hotel in a charming Alsacian village, just a short detour from the Reims-Strassbourg autoroute. Good in-house restaurant. No bad points.
lovely old village with beautiful houses
Friendly welcome.Central location and charming setting.
Silence. Free parking. Location.
The room was spacious, very modern, clean and comfortable. The food at the hotel was also excellent.
The Host, good wit and humour good local knowledge no
All the staff were very friendly and coped with our suspect language skills adequately. Food was good both evening and breakfast. Had some considerable trouble finding the hotel asthe road signs in and around saverne leave something to be desired.
Lovely position, gorgeous outlook beside the river, faded but charming large bedroom and bathroom, simple breakfast in nice and quirky dining room. Do not arrive between 3 and 5.30pm and especially not on a wednesday when restaurant and hotel are closed! A phone call got us in ,but no food,no drinks, nor use of terrace etc...
Comfortable room though bathroom /toilet cramped - evening meal food good seemed to be made in hotel not mass produced breakfast poor no choice (old fashioned French style continental) not worth money
Excellent dinner, but closed Sunday. Breakfast simple but supplied cheese on request. Owner friendly and spoke excellent English as did the staff. Interesting location with canal and the inclined plane canal boat lift. Parking a little limited but was not a problem to us. There was a hand douche spray but no proper shower.
Friendly welcome, charming owner, delicious meal beautifully served. We felt very comfortable and would return again. Hotel is right by the canal and we had a lovely walk.
A hotel of grerat character in a lovely area The rooms look llike they could do with a bit of modernisation
People very friendly, helpful & efficient. Restaurant 1st class - wonderful food. Hotel style & decor charming - very French countryside feel. Mattress on bed too soft - backache next day. Shame as apart from this stopover was excellent.
The web site quotes as below The "deck" leaning above the river Zorn with view on the boats going in and out of the locks on the canal will refresh your peacefull moments during the hot summer days." In fact you cannot see the canal or boats from the dining deck! The waiting staff had difficulty in completing our dinner order. I was asked to pay for dinner and room the night before - which I did. The waitress gave details of the bill to a colleague who prepared a credit card slip which I signed. I was not given a copy of the itemised bill. When I asked for one I found that breakfast (which we did not intend to take) had been included. This I consider to be sharp practice.
This is a very old hotel along the French canal system and is also reasonably close to the main highway. Our stay here was a highlight of our travels as the charm of the hotel was at least matched by the gracefulness of our hosts. We ate dinner here and suggest that anyone else staying here do so as the food, preparation and service are superb, and not in a snobbish way as in high-end establishments!
Very helpful staff, who made a real effort to speak english to us. Very good food is a lovely dining room. closed for dinner sundays, however this seemed to be the norm in the area
The room was clean and the location is great The worst staff ever guys come on are you going to do something about this. we had to wait 15 minutes untill someone came to the reception for check in, great impression from the start what do you think? Then no water in the hotel in the morning and when you see the gm he could not care less, he just said that he did not had a problem as he had a special boiler for his flat. what a F... . at least apologise, and I love the written note on the top of the gm office, bureau des pleurs.... I think this will all tell about the hotel management
Location - dramatic hilltop setting. Lack of a la carte menu for dinner (but it's only a relatively small hotel). Choucroute would not have been our first choice, but it's the regional speciality and the quality was good. We didn't try the breakfast in case it was more of the same!
Stunning location on a plateau within the Vosges forest, interesting buildings, beautifully kept grounds, great scenery, possibility for hikes and visits to nearby towns and villages bathrooms function but do need to be renovated to give them a fresher, more appealing look
It's location on a hilltop and in the middle of a huge forest. The appearance as one approaches the hotel is wonderful. It would be beneficial to guests if they were advised to book evening meals and breakfast in advance. We wanted to eat in the hotel restaurant but there were no spaces.
A wonderful place!
Stuning location! Great views all around from its hill top location 415 metres above sea level. Keep your eyes peeled for the sign on the "main road" - Vacanciel. It sits in the middle of about 70 sq kms of forest some 6km off the road. Forest roads are good if narrow & watch out for foxes, deer & sharp bends in the dark! Staff very friendly and helpful, we arrived at 7.30 pm without booking an evening meal, but one was provided & very good it was too. Great breakfast. Simple clean rooms, own shower and toilet. A range of activities is on offer - we missed the evening honey tasting. We stayed a couple of days exploring the Northern Vosge mountains - I wish it could have been longer. No.
