Good location Expensive parking
I liked that description of the hotel fully conforms what I have found there - no surprises and that was good.
Great Staff, Excellent Service. Nothing
Room smartly designer Poor gym limeted equipment and equipment not working well
cetrally located, modern lobby, good breakfast the pictures show other rooms than i got (not renovated)
Location, very convenient for the train station and city centre.
all paperwork ready - single signature required. Very quick and easy
No tea or Coffee facilities
The dinning room staff was very good, Good menu. The exercise facilty was disappointing. The machines were broken and old.
Nespresso machine in bedroom was nice. TV picture poor.Breakfast expensive.
Having the Ludden restaurant attached provided an excellent and convenient dining experience. Cost of the breakfast is too expensive
Comfortable, well appointed hotel in a good location Bells. There are church bells all Sunday morning, not too early (starting say 9 or 10), but then continuing non-stop. It was unbelievable, like a horror movie.
friendliness and helpful reception/bar staff
Cleanliness, no fuss, comfortable room near the place where I had to be. the noise from outside, but that is something that the hotel cannot help
Location Pricing, outrageous... for a simple basic 4 star hotel. Moreover, arriving at 21.00 the kitchen was closed and no warm food was available...Every monday the kooker goes home earlier :)
It`s small and comfortable , it has nice surroundings. There was no fridge with cold drinks in the room:)
They renovated the floor I stayed at, and that ment that there was a very bad smell from painting and the builders started working at 7 in the morning!
The location was very good. The lighting in our room was very poor and the room was cold when we first arrived - it took us some time to figure out how to work the heating. Also there was apparently a mouse in the breakfast room on one of the mornings while we were there. We didn't see it but other guests reported it to us and told us not to sit in a certain area of the breakfast room. Apparently mice are common in buildings in Utrecht as the buildings are so old, but I still didn't like it.
The location is excellent fo business travellers, being adjacent to the station. The room was far too hot and had no temparature control that worked. The internet system with its passwords and codes to be retreived from the front desk was archaic and ridiculous. The in room amenities, from the nearly broken chair to the awful shower and its primitive shower curtain were very poor and archaic.
sauna and breakfast the lady in the front desk was not polite enough when we asked the transportation to the city, and she didn't show us clearly, we got back to ask again when we were out and found that's uneasy to find the direction.
Being in the swimming-pool yacuzzi until 23.00 They did not have hot chocolate, but it was not important
great leasure center, excellent breakfast 7 km far away from city center, but the bus stop is close to hotel
Decor meybe a bit out of date.
business trip - i had to study so couldn't enjoy the facilities no , very pleased
Very comfortable spacious room, good restaurant with prompt service. Nice lobby with free internet and business center.
it was just a stop over while waiting for the ferry the cost of the breakfast was unreasonable
rooms are very luxery
The spa and the quite environment made it a pleasant stay.the room was clean and all the comodities where there.the materass was a really good and firm one.
Very close to place of work Too far out from city centre
Very good.modern hotel with good facilities
It's location Having to chase tea & creamer for the room. Lacks those little extras like real milk, biscuits in room, toiletries, all of which use to be provided. I have stayed in this hotel every year for the last 10 years.
Unclear information about where the restaurants were and their menus. This may have been because the hotel was being refurbished at the time. Dining alone one evening was a slightly uncomfortable experience with very slow service.
Hotel location. Ability to access printing facilities in lobby was very handy. Would have liked supplies in room to have been replenished on second day i.e. i.e. bags.
Convenient location near the train station. The hotel was run-down and old - peeling paint, dirty carpets, rusty bathroom fixtures... it was depressing, certainly not up to the standard of other NH hotels I have stayed in.
Decent Hotel For The Money Bit far away from amsterdam itself. 30-45 min train journey and at 11Euro a return ticket can get expensive!
close to messe hall the towels looked dirty
The staff is very polite and helpful. Very good location close to the train station and expositions facilities( Messe) No safety box in the room. Breakfast very expensive. We had breakfast out of the hotel. For the high price of the room the breakfast should be included.
Quiet atmosphere. Friendly and helpful staff. Easy to get to from the airport, train, or car. I first stayed there in 1993. Stayed again in 1996 and 2001 with my wife.
Friendliness of staff
Staff were friendly and helpful Unfortunately, this hotel is undergoing major construction. Noise, dust, lack of parking on the premises... is a serious issue. My feeling is they should have closed the place for the duration. They did give us a bottle of house wine when we checked in, though. Also, there were no towels in our room when we got there...
The friendliness and service of the staff. The prices of the minibar. the food wasnt great, the room was bit dirty, like the phone and the remote control were sticky! Think it needs a good cleaning in and out! Even with the price I paid (90 euro per night) I expect a littlebit better.
good location too noisy
Staff was quite pleasant. However for lunch it was more geared to groups with no a la carte for individual bookings. Very limited choice for health conscious beings. The room price was a normal rate despite the fact that there was noisy renovations going on. This was not mention in the time of electronic booking. However the library corner was one good new addition but it was still being worked on.
good breakfast, noce personell, During renovations of this hotel it is unavoidable noisy.
The free wireless internet and mini-bar fridge in my room were nice amenities. The hotel bar and restaurant were very nice atmosphere, and food was excellent. The Hotel was out of the city center, but convenient nonetheless and well priced accordingly. No. Everything was more than satisfactory.
location, bed reception desk (incoming calls) was populated with a bunch of laughing children calling themselves the staff
Godd location, friendly and helpful staff.
excellent location, typical Dutch accommodation, value for money no wardrobe, supposed to be a double but was in fact a twin room(not a real problem though)
Excellent location in the town Our gound floor room in a separate building was very basic
The owner was very friendly and helpful. The hotel was quite basic, but was clean and the service and help was good.
basic room but clean and tidy noisy lots of banging doors very steep stairs-a problem anywhere in holland very informal and friendly staff near to centre in quiet street got similar accomodation in central amsterdam ensuite at below this room rate a bit expensive for a single room -in other places i was given a double despite travelling alone-question about reviews-i never read them
Excellent location in downtown historic Gouda, walking distance to visit sites, cafés and restaurants. The owner/manager is very friendly and helpful. The hotel can please different types of customers/budgets since it has rooms with or without private washrooms. The rooms could have been a bit more comfortable (larger bed, etc.) but still for the price and location, it is a great deal.
It's central location
Family atmosphere Room was not cleaned every day
Absolutely nothing. Way overpriced for the value of this hotel. It should not have been more than 30 euro per night, if that. Tiny room situated right on the street. Had to open the window with the end of a broom handle about an inch high. Had to keep the drapes closed for any privacy. No convenience like hot water for coffee. Shower ok. Included breakfast was way too early for holiday. Was not notified about free wifi in the dining room. No accommodation for hot weather - we had to go out and buy our own fan. After asking they finally brought one in. This hotel was a dump.
Great location just off canalside. Owners very friendly, advised best place to park car, but didn't 'sell' their bar/restaurant. Room clean & tidy. Noise from room above - very creaky floorbaords!
Pleasant surroundings, very helpful staff. First class stay. Wheelchair ramp from car park could do with relaying, but disabled facilities inside hotel first class.
A very calm hotel, the staff was very nice and helpful, finally the food was the best the chef is the best I have tried across 5 countries!!!!
The room was very spacious (suite) and the view on the river is great. The hotel could use some decoration, it seems a bit 'cold'.
I particularly liked the size and decoration of the room and the hotel in general
Well located and well appointed. Restaurant performance was poor. Breakfast was average.
Hotel Ara was very a relaxing, enjoyable overnight stay. Staff were excellant and food terrific albeit very expensive for us Brits on holiday. Have to agree with most reviews...very difficult to find. If the maps on booking.com had motorway exit numbers on them we would of had a better chance.
It is very closed from the city, and in the countryside as well. Very relaxing, clean, and convenient. Nothing to complain.
Friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. Qulity of facilities, food and drink. Location was further from train station than indicated on the map.
We had the suite: it was huge, plenty of room and aa nice view In most hotels, in the suite, you might expect a mini-bar, and a stereo to play your own music or something like that. Not here: a bed, a bath, a TV, a desk (and an infrared cabin, but who uses that?). Pretty bare for a suite
The hotel is clean and the staff very pleasant. n/a
Walking 20-30 minutes from the down town. It was a good for my health. And a room for exercise is quiet nice. Tea pot was not good. Inside it, it was dirty. I could not use it.
friendly, easy atmosphere would like to have been informed about the building alterations. The spiral stair case that has been installed is dangerous to use especially with suitcases.Hope you have enough liability insurance, enjoyed our stay though.
Fantastic Staff No pay TV
Free internet. Beer in minibar was out of date. Railway and highway are around the hotel, so sleeping is almost impossible because of too much noise. Windows cannot be opened, only aircondition can bring fresh air. I payed for breakfast twice although I was the only one in the room.
The staff were excllent and nothing was too much for them to do.
Small hotel with friendly atmosphere. The only negative thing was the surrounding area, which is currently a building site.
The hotel is close to the city and just 8 Euros to the train station. The hotel was very quiet over the weekend and the receptionist was running the whole show, to her credit too! The rooms are very clean and tidy. I have family living nearby and will stay there again when next visiting. Note that there is some building work going on at the hotel at the moment though they really have done well in minimising any noise and disruption.
your information was correct in saying the hotel was friendly. the staff were excellent, very friendly and accomodating. And a really good breakfast buffet.
The male receptionist was helpful and friendly. The room was pleasant, clean and the fridge was useful. I had booked room only, but, upon arrival at the hotel, the male receptionist had included breakfast for both days. We had a drink in the bar in the evening approx 22:30 hrs. The barman was eager to ensure the bar closed at 23:00hrs.We felt rushed.
Downstairs has been improved since last visit (restaurant, bar and pool areas). Breakfast much better. Change of prices when changed dates.
Location and food are very good, but the only problem the room was too warm and no air condition No air condition in the room
The meals served here are the best we have had in a long time. Full credit to the chefs. Nothing to report
Location and convenience The Marie Celeste atmosphere - no staff available most of the time. Asked to leave room keys, which were then left on the reception desk in an unstaffed hotel with an unlocked front door.
Efficient staff, reception staff very pleasant. Lovly country setting, but easy access. Good budget breakfast. Overall, for the money, I would stay there again. Bedroom ok, but miniscule tv; second room of family suite (Room 104) room a bit cramped with a bunk bed.
The hotel is an old building with nice decoration. breakfast was pleasent. Smell of "old", the room was not nice. The water heat in the not modern bathroom was not stable. Also, from the website I did not get the impression that the hotel is located in a village. I though it is more in the country.
The staff was very helpful The hotel as a whole is in desparate need of refurbishment. The work is in progress but there is still a lit of work ahead
Good for a romantinc night out (but was not my case...) Limited choices for the dinner at the restaurant, rooms in need of refurbishment
Very friendly, helpful staff; great breakfast; lovely location; large comfortable rooms; nice pool - had a wonderful stay. Nothing!
Small room, furniture old.
Excellent Hotel, friendly efficient staff. Enabled one of the business meeting rooms to be used for bicycle storage. A far better use than for meetings!
pleasant and flexible staff. connected rooms with regard to the questionnaire: 3d should also have an option "I don't know". And the address when submitting should not read "Amsterdam" but Rotterdam
Hotel was quiet, was easily accessable, the rooms were clean.
During the stay we could smell cigarette smoke which was drifting down through the ceiling into the non-smoking room. The double bed consists of two single beds with single bed linen pushed together which is unusual for people who are used to hotel/motel accomodation in the UK or Australia.
friendly stuff, restaurant extremely hot room in garden wing
Great staff and near Kinderdijk. Goede medewerkers en in de buurt van Kinderdijk.
Very comfortable hotel, friendly, welcoming staff
Room clean, good beds, attention to detail. Staff Friendly.
Ease of access to my work during my stay in the Netherlands Disappointed to stay in the Garden Wing rather than the main part of the hotel, however, I guess based on the price I paid it was a good deal.
No air conditioning in the rooms and stiffling hot.
Very good and comfortable family run hotel. Is worth more than two stars.
The Hotel is a late 19th Century town house and has original features, set in a nice location. The owners were friendly and helpful.
Very friendly atmosphere and comfortable.
O staff, breakfast and the confortable room
I cannot recommend this hotel highly eneough. the room was large, comfortable, tastefully decorated and well equiped, with a balcony overlooking a large back garden leading to a tree-lined canal. Breakfast was always delicious and fresh, and the staff were always warm, welcoming, friendly, accommodating and helpful. I would have no hesitation to book again at this hotel if I return to Utrecht. The bathroom could do with a bit of redecoration as it does not seem to match the comfortable modernity of the rest of the room. But this is nit-picking as it was spotlessly clean and fully functioning.
The friendliness of the staff
Hotel staffs are very well. no
The charming staff, they were always there and helpful
a) The service, b) Customer Care, c) Easy Transport, d) Location Don't think anythink I didn't like
Is a little outside Utrecht centre but accessible by bus. Room was extremely comfortable with English TV and coffee maker, dressing gown was provided. Owners were extremely friendly and helpful and when I asked about local ATMs, they were happy to give me cash on a debit card transaction. Breakfast was a bit expensive at €10. Other than that, no complaints.
The staff , very good , helpfull , polite , happy , spoke good english , dining room food very good , overall great hotel , Special thank you to tim at front counter . No
Friendly staff and easy parking and access
Breakfast is very good for so called Ibis level.
Nothing We were treated appallingly by the reception staff who tried to make us return to Amsterdam
The buffet Breakfast was great although i felt 13euro was maybe a little steep. The staff were very helpful. The location was not too far from the central station, although a tram was necissary. Overall a pleasant stay, but I wouldnt say its the best place ever.
The private car parking of the hotel was not safe. The baby bed was not good.
poor service in hotel bar
Rooms had been refurbished, Good TV service, Helpful staff Slow lift
great location for city centre and value for money
You have to pay for the wifi. They did not want to use the credit card provided at the booking. They asked us for another credir card.So if your company is paying for the stay keep in mind you will have to pay yourself once there.(but if it is a no shoxw then they use your company credit card to take the cancelation fees!)
Clean. comfortable and a good shower. Lorry park next door, although not noisy it felt a little "industrial"
There is no entertainement like pool or booling
General friendliness and casual atmosphere.Functional but not over exciting Next to McDonalds and trucker stop. Toilets in restaurant not overly clean
The room was very clean and comfortable. The food in the restaurant was excellent. Very inexpensive. It was a little difficult to find. Take the exit from the highway that depicts the hotel (a bed) and you will find it right next to the McDonald's.
Easy road access and parking. Access to public transport and connections. Instant hot water in bathroom. Comfortable bed. Relaxing ambience.
Good location near Bodegraven where we were visiting. Comfy rooms and good breakfast More staff were required at reception as there were often queues of customers waiting to ask questions.
Nice new rooms
went to the borects beer festival, very good value for money.
We stayed on a special winter rate which meant we were able to enjoy our stay for a price we could afford in pleasant surroundings. The decor of the rooms has changed since we last visited it as an AC Hotel. It was very plain. We missed the pictures on the walls and the attractive bedding that gave a feeling of luxury.
tournadoes of beef on menu overpriced and disappointing
Clean room, good dinner, good breakfast, friendly welcome.
The hotel is brand new, so very clean and organised no
friendlyness of staff and personnel Additional light in bathroom before mirror
the hotel is a bit far from the city center but all rooms are full of light, clean and very comfortable..
Very comfortable rooms, good breakfast Not many tv channels
Warm welcome and a large comfortable room Cold breakfast, Iron that didn't work strange room numbers (walked past my room)
For the price, the room size was good. Bathroom was very clean and spacious. Breakfast wasn't that good.
The room was spacious and very comfortable with a fantastic bathroom The Bar is quiote small and could do with being non-smoking
We were pleased with the hotel, but had some problem finding it, since we came throught the own and not via the highway none
Nespresso coffemaker and spacious room
Pretty restaurant, wonderful Libanese food. Super friendly staff. Room was nice, hallways a bit dark. Nevertheless, I'll be back.
It was clean. Interesting design. Not really suitable for buisiness travel. Difficulty in obtaining proper invoice. Breakfast available since 11 in a restaurant downstairs. Probably good but if you are on business trip it is non convenient
The room was unique
It is an extraordinary place, design, style and atmosphere is wonderful. I recommend this place for short trip to the Netherlands.
It is a nice, clean hotel. There was no Reception Area, so there was no one to hassle you. It was a relaxed, chill-out atmosphere. The location was good and there was a bus stop across the street from the hotel to take you into the town centre and train station. Everything in the room was blue/turquoise and it made the room very dark. The lighting was bad and it was not possible to read. I had to sit on the window sill to read. The ethnic decor though funky would be more suited to a young couple in love. The room (with double bed only) was not suitable for me, as I shared the room with a male relative who slept on the couch. There was no facility for a second bed in the room. The room was too pricey and I did not find it value for money.
the bathroom! the design of the hotel, the colours n/a
I liked the decor and the ambiance That I didn't have time to fully expirence the hotel
Spacious rooms, attractive interior design, friendly staff, restaurant with a good food and service, easy access to the major roads. There was no ironing facility in the room, a free wi-fi could make the hotel even more attractive.
This hotel was fantastic, one of the best places I have ever stayed! The staff was very nice and helpful. The rooms were huge, modern and had comfortable beds. The breakfast in the morning was plentiful and had a large selection. I loved it all!
Very modern and clean No tea / coffee making facilities in the room. After a long journey the tea tray is always a welcome site!!
Free shuttle to and from airport leaving the hotel twice an hour. Couldn't find an ice machine. Price for internet was rather pricey.
Very good value for money, nice design, comfortable rooms. separate shower and bath in room: a rare combination
Lovely hotel the decor was nice and the rooms are lovely shame about the location tho, if this hotel was city centre it would one of the best around location terrible
The modern design of the hotel, the staff very professional, the best breakfast I've got in an hotel.
- Brand new hotel, big bath room, nice interior decoration, free parking, ... - Mini bar was empty, working noise from a power drill at 6:30 :-(
comfortable room ;good value for money restaurant with friendly service no close -up mirror in bathroom for shaving/make-up; nothing in mini-bar; wifi should now be free throughout 4 and 5 star hotels; a car is necessary for there's no public transport
Good location close to motorway and city of Utrecht. We stayed in a welness suite - which was superb in terms of facilities and design - sauna, steam bath, jaccuzi, lounge chairs etc. On top of that, we received a bottle of champagne upon arrival - excellent location to do away with the daily stress staff a bit mechanical - efficient but not really friendly
Excellent location with a lot of parking possibilities in the direct neighbourhood. Nice street and a nice choice of restaurants in close by. Entrance looks a bit dated and worn. Difficult navigation in the hotel when equipped with luggage.
Excellent internet wi-fi, and free! Good desk to work at. Good shower with effective controls. Good breakfast selection. Friendly staff. Compact no-nonsense room. Room was chilly - until I realised the window was open and radiator off! Thereafter no problems.
The staff were very welcoming, polite and helpful. The rooms were nice, basic and most importantly clean. Its about a 10-15min walk to the City Train Station. We really enjoyed our stay there and will book there again if we ever go to Utretcht again
in a nice area usual Dutch stairs, very small room and even smaller bathroom
Good breakfast Stairs
Very friendly and welcoming manager and staff. On arrival, was shown a different small room (11) on first floor, on account of the heavy case I had and the very steep Dutch style stairs, no lift! Outside breakfast time, there was free hot drinks 24/7, + free dutch cake - free apples as well. The room was spotless, bed comfortable, TV got BBC London service. Working radio in room. No phone in room. Plenty of power points and free wi-fi on unsecured network. Central heating worked well. Breakfast was very good value, well stocked buffet , meats + boiled eggs. 15 minute walk into old town quiet street, hotel located in garden district , just off bus stop (5 routes) into old town and central station/shopping area. Close by to main musuems. Be aware the room was very small, approx 8 sq metres! with 2 single beds, a desk, wardrobe, one single chair under desk and an easy chair as well, floor space to walk in very limited! so I wouldn't want to use it for more than 2 or 3 nights as a single. Ensuite was minute, but worked for an average size person. Could have done with a few hooks and a toilet bag sized ledge in the ensuite, a shower soap tray would have been useful for those with only 2 hands! no toilet brush!
The staff is nice and helpful. The room is quite clean. The room is very small.
Close to the centre, nice staff, basic but good rooms
Nice staff, free WLAN, clean room I would prefer breakfast buffet
Easy access from the bus stop
