There was nothing redeming about this hotel We had to wait 20 minutes in the bakery for someone to show up to allow us to check in. Once in the "Bed and Breakfast" there are lights hanging from the ceiling, there are old mattresses in the hallway, the door to the bathroom doesn't close, the sweetly leave you the cleaning products so that you can clean the bathroom yourself, the tv doesn't work, and the room smells like old cigarettes. My favorite part of the experience was when he asked for cash as soon as we arrived (not at the end of the stay), and then added "fees" to the confirmed total, and finally asked us to take the paperwork for him to the tourist office. All of this is capped off with your breakfast - which to get you have to walk down four flights of stairs, knock on a door, wait for them to give you the food (2 pieces of bread, and some meat) and then walk back up the four flights of stairs to your room.
Haus Gabriel is a B&B service, you get what's advertised. It is a budget accommodation albeit slightly on the expensive side for the offer. The rooms were fitted with facilities; this somewhat compensated for lack of dedicated breakfast hall. The staff member we met was very helpful, spoke good English, advised us on local attractions and places to eat. The quality of renovations made leaves a bit to desire in order to bring this B&B up to the European standard. The rooms were advertised as double but were in fact twin. No credit cards accepted - but this is somewhat of a problem for the whole shopping and staying experience in Germany so was no surprise.
Location is good.....near to train station. . The hotel should have a elevator, as we had to climb to the 3rd level with our luggage
Staff was nice.Location was perfect.Room was clean.I like here!! I wanted to pay by creditcard coz I am tourist so I didnt have much cash! But anyways,I like this B&B.
location is nearby the station , staff (owner) is nice and room is clean
Location is good, just 5 mins walk fr fussen station.much cheaper than the adjacent hotels. But i think it cannot be regarded as a hotel. I guess the owner of the "hotel" owns several floors or rooms of the house and rent them out for tourist or for short term rental. The hotel checkin is supposed to be done at a cafe on the ground floor of the house, but the staff of the cafe are not quite helpful. When we arrived at 6pm while the cafe staff were closing their business, they refused to let us in and even ignored us. We need to go back to the station to make phone call to the house owner. ( i dont think the cafe owner n the hotel owner is the same person. i guess they hv a deal that the cafe just provides breakfast n checkin assistance). Then the owner brought us to the back of the house n walked along several stairs, which was quite dark, old n the setting was a bit terrible. But when we entered into the room, it was clean, bright, tidy n larger than I ever imagined. All in all, Inside the room was ok, n I just not felt quite comfortable with the setting of the corridor n the stairs. Btw, there is a supermarket near the hotel. We bought some fruits n drinks at v reasonable prices.
It provided a perfect base for me to explore the nearby dream castles, the old town and other wonderful sceneries. Perfectly located in the town, only 1or 2 minutes from that small railway station where you arrive; the bus stop in the front of the railway station can provide you buses to castles. If you queue early enough for bus, it only takes you around 15 minutes to reach the tickets office to castles. A superstore is nearby, where I bought food and drinks with lowest prices I found in Germany. The room is quite good: clean simple, with all the basic necessities to help yourself, and the staffs are very friendly, with typical German breakfast, I found the price I pay was quite valued. This is no 'Haus Gabriel B&B' outside. Although the bakery is exactly like what you would see on their picture, I still spent some time to locate its address. As the first day I arrived there late, missed the check in time I had fixed with the staff, I found the bakery was closed, no one was there! It was only around 6 pm! I had to contact the staff through the telephone number they provided; I had to go to the nearby hotel to find a telephone to phone them. Fortunately, there was still an answer.
The location of this B&B is perfect for those visiting Fussen. For American visitors...the breakfast part of the B&B will not be a traditional American breakfast.
it is very convenient in terms of the location, close to the bus/railway station and old town. The room is simple and clean, it come with a small kitchen facilities which is very convenient, the bathroom is newly renovated too! The breakfast is from the bakery downstairs and it is very good. After all, it is a simple B&B, good enough if you are looking for something simple and money worth. The gentleman who lead you to the room is a very friendly and nice guy speaking very good English. the only problem was upon the arrival, as the bakery is simply a contact point, if you are lucky enough to arrive before it is closed, it will be better i think. We just happened to walk pass the bakery and when we returned, it was almost closed and we were waiting outside the bakery until the gentleman come pick us up in a cold and dark winter night.
Hotel staff was wonderful... Breakfast was ample and delicious. Our last night there, we were in the bar/restaurant and failed to notice the kitchen had closed before we could order dessert, the chef and staff took our order and made us wonderful crepes & apple strudel. Now that's service.
Best service, best facilities Location may not suit to backpackers cause no bus service in night.
Friendly staff and good food
Location to places we wanted to visit.
This was a really comfortable inn which represented excellent value for money in an area that in swamped by tourists! The staff were accommodating, the breakfast excellent and the rooms more than satisfactory. Our bathroom was small but efficient, our friend who was travelling with us had a good sized bathroom. This was terrific value for money and right in the heart of the village 9the cows at the next door farm , which was also in the heart of the village (!), walked to pasture every morning.
nothing else than a good breakfast buffet the room was not the one showed when I made the reservation. I asked for a large room with castle view, and yes there was castle view, but the room was very, very small. It was clean when I arrived but the day after they did not even make the bed. I had a hard time to connect to internet and nobody helped.
Very friendly personnel in particular the owner. The breakfast was good with a lot of variants in food even though no scrambled eggs or bacon; also no Nutella. The rooms are clean but rather small. The height in the rooms was low, less than 2 meters which made showers for tall persons a little difficult. On Wed and Thursday is Ruhetag with no service in the hotel restaurant except for breakfast.
Owners and staff were helpful and charming, room was attractive and comfortable, location was convenient (in lovely quiet town) but best of all, the hotel's own restaurant was really good, and once we discovered this, we ate our dinners there. Breakfast (included with room) was generous, varied and tasty.
The beautiful hotel and it's surroundings. I didn´t think that the towels smelled fresh but they were certainly ok and this didn't bother me.
Traditional house but internal is newly finished. Environmental friendly setting: solar panels, wool carpet, down blanket. Beautiful garden. Extra charge for internet. 5 euro.
The food was typically German; loved it. Also, bed were comfortable and the view as amazing!
