Location (1) Toilet makeup water flow was very slow. Had to dump water in tank to get enough water to dlush (2) Sink faucet dripped (3) Very loud in morning outside our room - doors banging constantly shut before 7 am. It is hard for doors not to be loud when closed. (4) Breakfast quality was poor (5) Hotel needs updating
Easy access from highway and not too far from beaches. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast included. Old/outdated décor throughout and room smelled even though it looked as though it was cleaned pretty well.
The complementary breakfast was great! Waffles, fresh fruit, eggs, sausage links, yogurt, coffee, juice, cereal and as a diabetic I had plenty of options. The room was clean and modern. The staff was nice and met all our needs. There was no AC in the elevator. The gym had to be opened by the clerk behind the desk and was very small and hot, but we were able to work out in complete privacy.
Great location. Breakfast was fine. One desk clerk seemed like she didn't wat to be there.
The location was convenient to the beach, restaurants, and other activities. WE were truly surprised when the room was entered, but not cleaned. Had to ask for soap and shampoo... whether or not the sheets are changed, it's a treat to have the bed made and tuck.
The free breakfast with eggs, bacon, and make-your-own waffles was the best thing about our stay. Our room was directly by the elevator and was extremely noisy. Also, the clerk wanted my credit card so that I could be charged for 'incidentals'. Be sure to mention that you will not need the safe in the room, or you will have a charge for that.
Staff, Price, Location Pillow smelled like a sweat. I started to carry my own pillow since.
Went to receptionist about a problem with air conditioning making a loud clanking noise and was asked if we wanted to check out!!! Paid $--- + tax for 1 night, ended up sleeping in my car because air conditioner was so loud we couldn't sleep. Was told no smoking but their were cigarette burns on curtains. Shower curtain rod broken so floor flooded when using it.
The pool and beds and shower was all amazing Breakfast wasnt that great.. but was better than most other hotels
Good friendly people and clean I think it was better than a two star place My shower drained slow a little and another person had come to lobby ssaying her kmood. Was stopped up
Room was nice with refrigerator, bed was super comfy, AC worked as expected, hotel has an elevator now and that is a definite plus, front desk staff super friendly and helpful, pool was very nice, close to area beaches Nothing
The Inn is very centrally located in Ocean Isle, right after you come across the bridge onto the barrier island and near the pier. It is right on the beach and an ocean front room has a fantastic view and a decent sized balcony. Room was spacious and included a microwave and good sized refrigerator under the "wet bar sink" with a large counter that was handy. Everything was clean and bright. A little bonus: we saw several weddings on the beach at the Inn and at the public access area/"chapel" next door. There was only one elevator for the several buildings (connected by breezeways), so we were climbing stairs to the top floor many times -- but that was good for us :) If this is a problem for someone though, they should request being near the elevator. The breakfast room was large and clean, but the premade breakfast sandwiches to "nuke" weren't the best ever. All was ok. And I'm not sure how much less non ocean-view rooms were, and the view out that way to the bridge was pretty nice, but if you are coming to the beach, pay the difference to see the ocean IMHO
Adequate for the price. Squeaky bed. Small tv.
Nice location. Decent off season price. Nice staff. Refrigerator didn't work. Called but maintenance never came to the room (they told office they did but did not). Deadbolt wouldn't work. Dated decor but that wasn't an issue. Very poor wi-fi signal.
Location and value are excellent, especially in the off season. TV reception was poor, bed was a little soft.
Great location. Oceanfront, attentive owners. Parking was not very good. Also, we stayed in the same building with the office, and the WiFi was sporadic at best. Would be unusable in further buildings.
The best part was sitting on the balcony, enjoying the ocean view. The hotel was clean and the staff friendly. The problem for us is that we were in building six and the elevator was in building two. We had the option of either walking through four buildings to get to the elevator, or going down several flights of stairs. All the while carrying our beach gear. It was awkward at best, and exhausting at worst. I think for younger people who don't mind the stairs, this Motel is a great choice. But for us retired folks, it required a lot of walking carrying our beach gear.
great location and value being on the beach we stayed in an ada room and the bathroom could use some updating in the sink/vanity area to make it more accessible.
The hotel is rooms are extremely outdated. The beds are rock hard.
The room was adequate, nothing fancy. Very clean room. That is one of the most important things I look for in a hotel.
The location is great, right by the East gate. beautiful grounds, facility is beyond 2 star expectation. 'Guest' rooms are pretty bare-bones, only a small window. Roaches were present.
This hotel is extremely dated, all furniture is worn and dingy, there were several bugs in the room. We booked for two nights but only stayed one. We could not be comfortable there. Very disappointing.
Our 2 bedroom unit was clean and quiet. The pool, free breakfast, and close to beach location were great BUT The room decor was dated and the balcony overlooked a parking lot and the back service entrance of a clubhouse. Not the view we expected!
The room didn't feel like a hotel or resort it felt like we were crashing at a friends house. Which is not good or bad. When we first got to the room I was terribly disappointed that all the rooms were upstairs no elevator and I was traveling alone with kids. I didn't feel extremely safe and my building was isolated. And after dark outside too many roaches but none inside.
I loved the location of the hotel. The free amenities made for a pleasant stay. I think a villa would have suited our needs better than the guest room that we had. The room had twin beds and was really to small for a cot for our little boy. We expected to have a queen size bed. There was lots of party noise that kept us awake.

The staff was very nice and helpful especially the woman who checked me in at the front desk. ...the proximity to the beach The room was dated old furniture older TV. ..very small only 3'2 (if that large)...bathroom was not thoroughly cleaned ....found hair in tub

Very close to the beach. Lovely grounds.
Room was very nice. Setting was gorgeous. Included breakfast was excellent. It was 1.6 miles from my room to the restaurant which wasn't open for dinner. It's several miles into town to get to the nearest restaurants. Map required to get from check in to room was inadequate lacking enough detail to find anything.
Large breakfast selection They need a different pancake machine or switch it for a waffle maker
roomy, comfortable, nicely decorated That we could not be on the ground floor
Good location to St James, clean, new, good breakfast. Only one elevator. Had to wait
This was a motel 'in progress of inproving' and charged too high $$ for the room. I personally do not care for the trend of including a sheet inside the coverlet. You are either too cold or too warm. Breakfast varied and nice.
Location and overall cleanliness...
Because Oak Island is primarily beach houses and rentals, this provides a reasonable way to stay near the beach. constant loud playing CNN news at breakfast
Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was sparse close to 9 am. Pool was 'Closed for Maintenance' the entire visit, saw no active 'maintenance'. Son was a little bummed.
Room was large, clean and beds were comfortable. Breakfast had a good selection of foods. We were put in a handicapped room on the first floor close to the main road even though we'd asked for a quiet room. Bathroom only had a shower no tub. There was no address posted outside the hotel so we weren't sure we were at the right hotel.
Over priced, rude front desk staff.
The room was very comfortable, and clean. The lobby, dining area, and pool were all very nice and clean. Staff was eager to be helpful, and quickly assisted us when needed. I booked 2 queen beds. However, upon arrival, we were given a room with a king and pullout. The hotel was full, so they were unable to switch rooms for us, which was very frustrating! The pullout + one child in the king = not the best night of sleep: (
I was very impressed! The customer service was impeccable with pleasant and courteous staff who went out of their way to make our stay perfect. The room was beautiful - we booked the king suite and it was even better than described!
It was a nice location, clean, and had a friendly staff. Two things: 1) No network TV - - reported it, they knew it, never fixed it. Had 1 movie channel, that's it! 2) They didn't attach my Holiday Inn Priority Club Number to this stay Reported it at check out, never took care of it.
Pool not open! Filthy!!!Mold in refridgerator and bathrooms. Basically no cleaning service!!! Rooms smelled and were not clean. Not enough towels or toiletries!! Need I go on?
This hotel is way overpriced. The first room we had the shower curtain was coming out of the wall, room was filthy, so the manager gave us a new room, and that one was filthier than the first one. Roaches all over the place, dirty toilet, dirty linens, foul odor in the room, capet was filthy. I will never recommend this this hotel to anyone. They need to clean this eyesore up completly.
The room was fillthy. The bed was terrible. People parited on the balcony all night outside my room and I got no sleep, and was scared to death to even go to sleep.
overall conditions were poor. Pool filthy and not useable, odor in room, mold, lack of toiletries, and linens. little to none in room cleaning. Too many requests for items that should have been provided.
shower was dirty shower curtain had mildew on it - not that clean at all Swimming pool was slimy could not even enjoy that!
Our group booked three rooms. When we arrived, we were told we needed to pay. We had to provide proof that we had paid. Then they were able to magicaly find the bookings. 205-Old food in refrigerator. Trash left in trash can. 208-Broken shower rod, Broken towel rack. Mold in refrigerator. 2 recepticals did not work. And the worse... When we pulled down the sheets.. there was trash in the bed. 209-NO towels provided. Pool was green with a film on top. Overall hotel appearace was terrible. We complained. Left for out for the day. Came back in around 9:00pm. Rooms were not touched. We complained to managment and were told because we booked online, this is the service we get and to deal with it. It was the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Its unfortunate there is not a rating below terrible.
My stay was very nice. The Staff was very helpful and courteous. The room was very clean and beds were comfortable. We will definitely stay at Days Inn on our next visit.
For the money we spend, it was a good stay, definitely reccommend, and would stay again. Manager was very kind and helful.
I shocked to see A Days Inn in such a deplorable slum. We went down with another couple and their room smelled like a litter box. Our room should have been condemned by the Fire Deptl. Lamp had only the 2 wires inserted into receptable. Room was mold ridden. Outside had garbage layed out. Wrote to corporate in N.J. Should repel the right to use ''Days Inn'' logo.
