Clean stylish rooms with good fixtures and furnishings. When moving large baggage entrances and hallways could be cramped. The bathroom was very small. The shower temperature controls were difficult to use I had trouble getting a temperature that was warm without being near scalding.
Awesome shower! Wished the floors had been vacuumed a little more thoroughly.
We were looked after very well by the staff and the hotel was central for all amenities.
A smart and comfortable hotel in a good location close to the city centre. The breakfast was first class.
Relaxing envirnoment in the city, staff were extremely helpful! Will stay again. Highly recommended!
Friendly and efficient staff, very comfortable room and a first class breakfast Even with my best nit picking hat on could iI find any fault with the Bonham,a treat to stay there
Helpful staff - nothing too much trouble. Car park.
Huge bedroom with a great view of the church at Stockbridge. The location was excellent and I also loved the main course we had in the restaurant on the Friday night - 2 courses £14 per person - Exceptional value for money. Service could be improved. Restaurant is open to the public and hotel guests don't get priority. In the morning, I had to ask for a number of things during breakfast.
The room was a good size and with lovely views of the city and the sea in the distance. The web site is over generous in its praise of design features. The bathroom was only average in all respects and the hospitality tray poor for a hotel in this price bracket.
Quality environment and relaxing atmosphere
The clean and stylish appearance of the decor and the pleasant staff and enjoyable breakfast room Breakfast cold table should be chilled in my opinion, especially the meats, cheese , yogurt and fruit. Room TV menu was not too great.
Staff friendly;room decor very nice; centrally situated in a quiet area Too hot!! (Rooms & corridors) Extremely difficult to get in & out of bath
Everyone was friendly and helpful and the room was outstanding. The hotel is worth every penny. The experince was amazing!
Cool design, friendly staff, good location - absolutely nothing to complain about.
We had a very pleasant stay and enjoyed all the facilities, bar, restaurant and location.
Dinner in Brasserie was excellent. Cooked breakfast a bit disappointing. Bacon not very well cooked.
The location in Leith was lovely with lots of nice restaurants and bars nearby, I was really impressed with Leith as it makes a nice alternative to the cntre of Edinburgh. Breakfast hamper was beautifully presented with good choice. The hotel is a little tired and not as high a standard as other Mal Maisons I have stayed at (e.g Newcastle). I think it is in need of some updating.
The breakfast was excellent and the staff in the breakfast efficient . The lighting in the room was poor. This was explained away by staff as a hitch - that the cleaners had switched lights off at the plug points. However the next morning it was again difficult to switch any lights on without crawling around to locate the plugs. Also no extractor fan in the bathroom . The mirror was too misty for shaving and the lighting too poor for my wife to apply make up.
Good service, good food, pleasant surroundings nothing
Very friendly, helpfull staff.
There was no hot water during our stay, which was probably a problem with their boiler as the noise of it kept us awake all night. This was raised with the hotel on checkout and they dealt with it extremely well.
The common kitchen area: it's inviting and well equiped. The 24 hr staff are very helpful and I liked that music streamed in through the open windows at night. Good place to sit and interact with other guests. The location makes all of Edinburgh very accessable. I had a top tier bunk, so two people slept below me and there wasn't much head space left. Shower and bathroom facilities are small and universally shared. Both of these are fine as long as you expect them coming in.
There wasn't a restaurant or bar as indicated on the Internet. There wasn't a 24 hour front desk. We weren't aware of a garden, morning newspaper or a trouser press. Probably wouldn't of booked this hotel if we were aware of the above as we did want a restaurant and bar within the hotel facilities.
Staff were friendly and helpful
thta is was close to the city centre we got there and we had to ask for them to out a light in the bathroom becase the light was out and we could not see anything and the room was frezzing we had to ask hem to put the heating on but they never did had to use the quilts off the other beds
The staff were really friendly None of the lights worked in our room and it took a while for anyone to come up and sort them out.
My partner and I travelled to Edinburgh for a birthday weekend and lasted all of one night the hotel is poorly run, very unclean and is maintained to a terrible standard, the reception is only manned until 10.30pm so any issues arising through the night cannot be dealt with. We only completed 3 hours of our weekend stay due to the window in our room not being able to shut which exposed us to the Scottish weather, the following morning it developed the owner, Jay, had charged us in full for our stay even though it was due to the poor standards of the hotel we left, that was 6 days ago and still the owner is unavailable, out with family or will be returning my call shortly, do not stay in this hotel!
Staff were very knowledgeable about local attractions and gave great advice And there's a free car park!
Very sound set-up with good, friendly and helpful management and staff. Clean and comfortable room, and good, unfussy, breakfast. Gave facilities "fair" only - have I missed something? It was fine for me, but then I only needed the basics. Re breakfast, personally I can do without the radio accompaniment, but if others like it (?), then fair enough: otherwise, leave it for the latecomers only!
Good location with easy access to city centre attractions with local transport adjacent.
Staff was friendly The hotel is on the main road and during night there were still trafic and too much of noise. could not sleep at all.
Everthing about as expected, at the price we paid. Wouldn't want to be paying any more for this hotel though. Bar not open on Sunday evening. Not critical, but lounge and bar all locked up at 9.00pm. Nothing to sit on in bedroom, so had to have an early night!
This was perfect after a long day of travel! Also, the staff was awesome and they upgraded us! I would definitely recommend them, especially for backpackers who are looking for something way better than a hostel! It was an older hotel and you could tell. All in all no complaints though!
Four-poster bed; complimentary sherry.
Convenience and service. It was right on the major bus line route that enabled us to go just about everywhere without hassle. A bit of a climb to the top floor rooms.
The pleasant comfortable feeling of the hotel, and the excellent Scotish breakfast Two stips of wallpaper missing from our bedroom wall
fair price, good breakfast, charming, helpful and friendly staff. Very comfortable.
Excellent breakfasts! Close to bus line facilitating easy travel further into town.
Very nice hotel with regular local bus service to the city & back (10 mins to the very centre). Private hotel parking. Stayed 2 nights with an 11 year old, Ideal place to stay on the outskirts of the city. very friendly & helpfull staff. The restaurant was closed but plenty of places to eat in Edinburgh. Would stay here again if we came back to Edinburgh Breakfast was not the best we've had, but was sufficient.
Big room for 3 Karpit sawnded wooded ground
The whole experience was good, staff were helpful and friendley. It was an ideal location for a visit to Edinburgh
Excellent quality breakfast Unfortunately our room was below the breakfast room & so from 7am you could hear people moving around above you
Location/room/staff/all meals More choice on menu but the meals we had were excellent
One night stay, staff friendly and helpful on tourism issues. Room pleasant, bed enormous (double executive king) radiator in bathroom on full blast... much too warm ( ground floor bedroom so didnt like to leave sash window open).
location; quiet street and nice view over the Queen's Gardens; breakfast room (and bathroom sink) were fairly small; no international news TV channel
Would recommend this hotel, clean rooms, very central and friendly and efficient staff.
Very, Very Frendly Staff! Wi-Fi Internet Access was down during our stay. tv and Cable box instructions were very user unfrendly (with many multiple steps) and I own a Technology company!
Loved the old-world charm, 4 poster beds and the period decor. Very attentive staff. Really lovely visit. The surcharge for non-members on the meals
The building is exquisite and tastefully furnished in the georgian style situated close to the city centre. The room was very good, the staff caring and the food excellent.
It was traditional and comfortable hotel near city centre.Hotel staff was really nice and breakfast very good. Cleaning could have been better.
Quiet and very friendly and efficient. Unfortunately no lift. Room a little on the small side.
The room and view were superb; all listed facilities were available and there were no hidden charges, eg for Wifi. Lovely breakfast. Great location. I wish breakfast continuted until 10 am.
The club attmosphere
Clean room, friendly staff, lovely food Tv in room could do with upgrading, also could do with a socket at desk height for kettle/hairdrier
The breakfast was good. The clerk of the b&b was not very friendly. Charge for everything. We booked a double room and later found we just need a single room. So we canceled the double room and rebooked the single room immediately. The hotel charged us all the rooms w/o refund.
The staffs are very friendly and helpful, the room was clean and spacious, breakfast was good. Not in the city centre, but there was bus stop right outside and takes only 10' to get to the centre, so not really that big of a problem
The room is big and clean. Breakfast is acceptable. A bit far and some parts are still under renovation.
Friendly and Helpful Staff. Everything was dirty, we had to ask for pillow cases, toilet roll and hairdryer, shower was tiny, bathroom was cheaply made, bathroom door did not shut neither did the 'wardrobe' door.
Close to town. Good breakfast. Very comfortable bed. No hairdrier in the room. Only one working socket. No shower wash.
The room was very large with clean, comfortable beds. Great internet as well. The breakfast was good as well. It was a bit far from the town center, but there is a nearby bus stop that makes it easy and quick to get there on bus 22.
the central location and the ease of convenience the staff were not too welcoming. the initial smell of cooking odour was over powering
you get house feeling in this hotel as this is more like a house than hotel.
Staff very helpful I had to complain to the staff about initial room given to me as it was not acceptable shown below, 2nd room allocated clean and tidy facilities good coffee, tea T.V. room quite comfortable breakfast very good. On arrival initial room allocated to me was not acceptable it did not have a shower or a toilet you had to come out of your room to go to the toilet this was not acceptable by me also the room did not have a window - very closed in and there was no wardrobe to hang your clothes in or a mirror to look and tidy yourself up - not impressed at all I do not think this room should be given to anyone and definately not at £60.00 for the night.
Very Shabby, small bathroom, bare wires on the light, would not recommend this hotel.
Good location for central edinburgh, excellent service from friendly staff The bar was full in the early evening due to Christmas parties-some service such as a reserved area could have been made available for hotel residents.
We had a problem and had to leave early. Please be aware that the young lady on reception on Sunday am was excellent.
stylish room, friendly staff, convenient location hotel very noisy at night due to nightclub downstairs
Comfortable and walking distance to attractions. Helpful front desk lady. Clean room. Flatscreen tv and extra speaker in bathroom was a delightful bonus. Shower was difficult to use as there was no shower curtain and water sprayed everywhere in bathroom. Hotel restaurant was poorly staffed at breakfast.
We liked our room, the bed was comfortable and the room temperature was perfect. The service at reception was excellent, with very friendly staff. the location is perfect for a city break in Edinburgh and overall was worth the money. There was a cleaning problem at the hotel which meant unfortunately a terrible stench was very evident outside the gents toilet in the reception area, which you had to pass to get to the ladies. The hotel did apologise. Also, someone else was able to charge drinks at the bar to our room. We were given the bill on departure, but the member of staff on reception was quick to accept that it had not been us and tore up the bill. They had not obtained a signature for the bar bill. We had paid for all our extras - food and drinks - in cash at the time of purchase. Hotels must get signatures for all extras to avoid this sort of problem. Despite the comfort of the bedroom, the room was a little dark.
very central for city, modern ,,comfortable beds and a mini bar the shower was fantastic
the rooms were elegant, well designed, functional and comfortable. also on the back of the hotel v quiet. the staff were very helpful. I would definitely come back to the Hudson. Pop music in the bar at breakfast time and when I said that I was leaving because of it, nobody offer to turn it down or off. I did not eat breakfast and therefore did not spend 10 pounds in the hotel.
Great location, staff were helpful and friendly. Poor shower, not up to standard for the price.
Location Room sizes very small and not suited for two people
Fantastic cooked breakfast. Nice decor in room. Great location. Nothing
The Hotel room is quite good, and also the location. quite central Staff could be a little bit more professional
Relaxed atmosphere in sumptuous surroundings. Not applicable
The suite was a very good size, having breakfast served in the room was an added bonus and the jacuzzi bath an unexpected treat. Recommended.
It felt very private The breakfast was not brilliant and the lift was broken during our stay and unfortunately we were on the top floor
The staff were friendly and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. My Classic Suite was beautiful - exceptionally comfortable, spacious and clean. The bathroom was especially good with its huge kidney-shaped bathtub! I would highly recommend the Edinburgh Residence and hope to stay there again.
The staff and service were superb. The in-suite facilities were great. The huge spa bath was very welcome after a long day. The view from my top floor room was amazing - and the food was absolutely first class. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to others, and I will stay here again without doubt. The hotel is quirky. It was previously time share apartments, and some of the decor in the communal areas is in need of updating.
Really friendly welcoming staff. Room was beautiful. Huge bedroom with huge sitting room. Very elegant. White toiletries and big high quality towels. Excellent cooked breakfast brought to the room. It was like staying in a country house. Luxury in the best sense
warm freindly . great service. large rooms . clean .great vaule at price booked at.
Ideal location for the city and the ambiance of the hotel. Breakfast service was very good sets the day of to a relaxing start 4th stay at the Edinburg Residence and standards are dropping. At checking in handed a key and left to find our own room in the bowels of the hotel then faced with a trek back up to reception then back down to car park to collect luggage then back again, Toilet seat falling off, wall paper loose and loose floor tiles. Not what you expect in a 5 star residence
The staff was extremely accommodating, and the suite was beautiful, the bathroom huge.
out of this world- service, comfort and a real treat
staff offered to have breakfast ready early as we had a flight to catch. nothing worth a mention
We booked 2 3 bed rooms, for our family who were visiting from Thailand. The staff couldn't have more helpful, arranging trips and what to see in and around Edinburgh. Rooms clean breakfast perfect overall great value for money. Highly recommend you won't be dissappointed. Thanks to all the staff.
We had booked this hotel for our friends. They were very satisfied. Friendly manager, good service, good location and they will absolutly recommend the hotel to their friends.
Nice room, comfortable bed, good bathroom facilities. Convenient for transport links. Breakfast fine. True the weather was very cold, but the room could have been a bit warmer. Also, we fancied a whisky nitecap when we came back at about 10/0 o'clock, but our room was in the other part of the hotel with a separate front door and the key supplied did not fit the lock of the main door so we couldn't get to the bar.
the staff was wonderful, very attentive The rooms on the surface are clean enough, but could use a deeper "spring cleaning" .
Nice place and good to hear local voices running and working in it.
Extrenely friendly welcome, very polite and friendly personell Leak from ceiling during very heavy rain, but sorted out satisfactorily very quickly
good location, lovely breakfast enclosed bathroom / shower not as fresh or clean-smelling as one would expect. Layout resembled 2 adjoining houses, bar & lounge seperate bulding to bedrooms.
Friendliness of the staff and cosy atmosphere
excellent value for money excellent breakfast convenient for railway station
Quite enjoyed it. Breakfast was great and the staff were very nice. I found the bed a little less frendly than I had hoped for
Very warm welcome by proprietor. Excellent breakfast and in room tea/coffee facilities together with homely atmosphere. Nothing
Good location and friendly. Room had a double and single bed. Too crowded no room to move around or put any luggage. Fortunately we were only 2 people. No other room to sit in. Breakfast sausages very poor.
Good home comfort - very welcoming staff
The breakfast was good with variety and the location to the golf on our schedule was good. The shower did not work nor was it adjustable with temperatures either extreme cold or extreme hot.
Location and reception areas were great. Room was terrible. Really hot. Could not open window and AC not working. Staff unwilling to help.
The hotel kindly acknowledged our anniversary. All the staff were wonderful.
There was no air conditioner in the room. The room I got was in the basement close to a very noisy load and unload area. Eventhough they had better rooms available, they asked me for extra payment in case I wanted a different room.
location, standard of accommodation bedrooms were very warm even with no heating on. We were unable to open a window due to noise on street. This was a minor complaint.
The hotel was in central Edinburgh and close to all the attractions.the room was very spacious Lack of parking as public parking very expensive.
Brilliant location for all the reasons anyone would visit Edinburgh - sites shops reatauramts
Clean and comfortable. Good breakfast. Got bait and switched. Upon checkin was told that breakfast was included with the prepaid reservation. Great! Upon checkout was informed I owed something like £60 for breakfast. Tried to argue my case but had a train to catch and ended up with a "discount" to £40. Extremely shady. Will let my CC company take care of this.
I booked a room at The George Hotel as a special birthday treat for my husband. I wanted somewhere right in the city and this was the perfect location, we even managed to find a parking space! The staff were really friendly and helpful. The room was lovely and the bed was possibly the most comfortable I have ever stayed in!
enjoyed the comfort and eating at the restaurant
The whole hotel experience at the George Hotel was completely faultless. The staff were incredibly helpful and welcoming. The rooms were spotless, warm and very comfortable. The breakfasts were delicious. The flight was cancelled on our return and had to stay at the George Hotel an extra night, the staff welcomed us back with mulled wine! Excellent stay, thank you.
very enjoyable stay in a superb hotel, excellent meals, very helpful staff, nothing too much trouble to make our stay memorable
almost everything the cooked breakfast wasn't hot enough
Excellent location, really simple but very modern interior. Breakfast was especially nice as everything was cooked fresh. Non that spring to mind
The hotel is very convienient for all local attractions,it was clean and warm and a very good price, rooms were decorated in a modern style . the doors in hotel are heavy fire doors and if not held until closed they slammed every time someone went through one. Our room was at basement level and had drainage problems in shower and water only drained slowly.
The staff was very helpful and friendly. The food was very good. The room was attractive and comfortable. No bad points
Location is very convenient
very friendly owners, excellent menu in the evening for a very good price (well only apple or orange juice as a drink) as well as the scottish breakfast. Location Noisy fitnesscentre in the early hours on friday in the back of room 12
a lovely modern guest house in a great location, our room was spotlessly clean and very warm. The only thing that would improve the stay was that Sunday breakfast could have been a just little bit later say between 9 and 9.30am
The building is lovely and very nicely decorated. The room was small but very comfortable with better than average appliances and fantastic water pressure in the shower! Breakfast was good with a large menu. The staff were helpful and friendly. The room was a little too warm, but the radiator could be adjusted so it wasn't a huge problem. The wood flooring, although nice looking, was noisy especially when other guests were moving around very early in the morning.
great location, excellent hotel staff, really big and comfortable room, good breakfast
Fantastic service. Warm, friendly staff. Great breakfast. Perfectly located for a tour of Edinburgh. Excellent. Not a thing. Great hotel.
A pleasant stay at the hotel. The decoration is very modern and update. The Bathroom in particular has a nice bath
Hosts werte very nice. Breakfast was excellent.
The customer service was excellent, the food was great and the rooms were spacious and very comfortable.
Excellent breakfast and friendly staff. Parking maybe too far from the hotel
It's not the cheapest, but really is about the best. The parking's a bit of a pain but not too bad, especially considering the proximity to the town centre.
Gorgeous hotel, excellent service, excellent breakfasts, made us feel very welcome
Service fantastic. The best choice, porridge and cooked breakfasts we have ever come across at a b& b. A thoroughly enjoyable experience. We would go back and advise others to do so. We did not have time to experience any other of the classifications. Shower ran hot and cold. Matress not the most comfortable. Base cushions kept slipping off the sofa. First experience of a steel four poster!
attention to detail, breakfast, rooms...everything nothing would reccommend to all!
Lovely room and hotel, lots of character, very friendly hosts. They were very helpful and organised free parking for our stay.
The quality and choice of the food - superb Nothing, everything very good
the quietness of enviroment, the space of the room, the good feeling of having breakfast in the conservatory. not much choice for breakfast
Nothing The hotel was dirty with wallpaper coming off walls & damp. The breakfast was awful
The people were friendly Very noisy in the middle of the night from other guests.Very old fashioned, and needs decorating and a good through clean
location was good
to both new and old town. The airport loop link picks up and drops off right in front of the hotel and it runs every 10 mins or so 24 hours a day- extremely convent. There's also a few bus lines that pick up by the hotels entrance and go to Waverly Train Station which takes you past New Town. From there, Old Townnis a quick walk. Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly by the staff and had a very spacious corner room. The comforters on the bed were those old scratchy cloth kind that you know don't get washed every time rather than the new linen kind. When pulling back the covers frontbencher time, I found a small collectionn of hair in the bed that coildnt have been mine and the kettle in the room had not been washed since the previous guest. The plumbing also leaves a bit to be desired. The shower was either bowling or freezing- even if being left on the same setting.
The service and friendliness of the staff was excellent. The breakfast was first class. Having a room with a sky light on a rainy night did not aid a good sleep
Staff were helpful and courteous, the room was quiet and the breakfast reasonable. The room was in dire need of refurbishment, badly equipped with poor heating arrangements and unwelcoming
Hotel was convenient to the airport and satisfactory in terms of comfort. Staff person was friendly and hotel was accommodating to my scheduling needs. Two things: first, I was pulling heavy luggage and went to the 186 address on the website. I then had to drag all luggage over to 188 to check in (around 9pm). I would have appreciated knowing in advance where to go. Second, while most areas of the room were very clean, the corners and near the nightstand had not been cleaned in some time and had some dust and debris.
room really nice and great breakfast.close to the airport room too cold due to the insulation. they charge you the day of the booking plus commission on credit card
I wanted a clean, functional accommodation for 4/5 nights. This fitted the bill (however, I paid up front for 5 nights - only ended up staying for 5 and was disappointed to be - not at the least - offered a refund for the 5th night - as a gesture of goodwill). Parking was not as I'd hoped for.
Was very nice and didn't have any major issues and bein able to go for breakfast between 8 and 12 was great meant I could have a long lie and go down at 11.45 for breakfast Instructions on how to work the heating weren't very clear but the room was comfortably warm although the duvet was a bit heavy for me but overall was a great nights stay
It has great location between airport and city centre both only ten minutes by train or taxi. Also swiming pool is undoubtedly great thing in cold scottish evenings with steam room. I loved it and had a great time. Breakfast should be cheaper and in restaurant prices are too big. And free wifi defenately should be.
Bed was very comfy N/A
cleanliness, the fact that everything was new. bit far from city centre, though train stop nearby
Excellent staff, warm and caring. Easy access in edinburgh so close to rail link, and motorway. Menu was good and food excellent. No there were one or two teething problem with the plumbing and windows, but as a new building these were minor and rectified immediately.
The hotel was well equipt and overall the service was good. The car parking was plentiful. The hotel is slightly out of the city centre only accessable by train and bus routes. large scale developments are taking place around the hotel connecting the city centre by tram.
no shuttle bus to airport as was advertised on booking.com website - this was one of main reasons for wanting to stay at hotel!
All of the above ! Taxi drivers could not find it !
The Novotel Edinburgh Park was a modern and clean hotel with friendly, efficient staff. Overall, we enjoyed our two night stay and would recommend it to friends/ would return. It's location would suit anyone wanting to stay fairly close to the city without staying in the city itself. We stayed with our 2 year old girl, and found the hotel catered well for her needs, providing a high chair and cot. The room service meal was very disapointing, especially considering the price! The air conditioning was too noisey to leave on during the night, and because the room was very warm, it was needed. The 'area dedicated to children' consisted of a table, chairs and a bookshelf. Based on the rest of the hotel, we would have expected something more, e.g softplay or indoor play area.
The room was lovely and great value for money, the staff were always happy to help and the pool and steam room were great to relax in. The location was perfect as it was right next to the train station easy to travel into endinburgh for £2.50 return. only problem was we didn't stay long enough!! Would love to go back!
