The view of the small harbor and, an excellent gym for workouts were pluses. The restaurant was also very good. We would have preferred a location a little closer to Victoria. The furniture in our room had a lot of nicks and scratches.
Room was clean when we checked in. Staff when we checked in was unfriendly. Though the hotel was obviously not full, they still didn't give us a room with a view.
We don't own a dog, but I loved seeing peoples' dogs on vacation with them!! Restaurant was a bit pricey.
Very attentive staff. The rooms had high ceilings and felt spacious. View was spectacular. Hard to get to from Victoria.
The rooms where nice, clean, bright... Bed was very comfortable ... Staff where helpful. The restrant food left you dissatisfied , tast was okay but not up too it's reputation ...
The room was well appointed, had a nice view and the pool and hotub were excellent.
Extremely attractive hotel with perfect location by the waterfront. Easy walking distance all over town. We enjoyed our room overlooking the harbor. Gracious, helpful staff. We were happy with the Courtyard Cafe, which provided good sandwiches, coffee, and dessert for low-key suppers. Island Time Tours, booking right there in the Grand Pacific, took us to Butchart Gardens and picked us up again at our requested time. What a very nice arrangement. When it was time to leave Victoria, we chose the Victoria Airport YYJ Shuttle as more economical than a taxi. The Shuttle arrived at the front door and delivered us to the airport comfortably and in good time. We were happy in every way with our four nights at the Grand Pacific and would gladly stay there again.
Staff were excellent location was excellent Curtains were torn
Everything. Location was great facing the inner harbor. The staff was superb!! Food was excellent!! Look forward to staying there again! No, absolutely everything was excellent!!
I loved the location--- within walking distance to downtown, Victoria. Nothing
super close to everything tourists do
Bad wireless Internet - the only negative
The room was beautiful and the beds excellent. Enjoyed our stay. Location was excellent for walking.
Location is great! The hotel is old, outdated and in desperate need of a facelift. You are definitely paying for location.
Staff was great and very helpful suggesting restaurants and activities. We were able to arrange A late checkout and keep our car parked. The location was excellent and there are a lot of nearby restaurants. We had a great time. Facilities are undergoing a major remodel. A bit noisy in the morning since they start early
Great location Internet was slow and difficult to use from mobile device
The rooms are really beautiful. The facility is under complete renovation. It wasn't as grand as you'd expect. Although the rooms are super nice, I think for the price there are a million better deals to be had. It's slightly over hyped in my opinion.
Had an awesome time at the Empress for our 20th Anniversary. The people everywhere were super helpful and friendly. The location was excellent and within walking distance to so many fun things. The afternoon tea was enjoyable but definely over priced.
Not one dining room open that children were aloud to eat! Overly expensive for what you get! $50.00 for a pot of tea!!!! Crazy. I guess they have the location that's about it!
We booked a Fairmont Gold room based on another recommendation and boy was it worth it. The private lounge is spectacular, the concierges were all extraordinary (and made a big difference helping us maximize our 2 nights in Victoria) and the food and drink (including a fully-stocked honor bar) were fabulous. We felt like royalty.
High Tea at the Empress, the concierge was very helpful helping me book Helijet and bus service into and out of Victoria.
Breakfast was fantastic.
Very nice room, very friendly people!!
Location, location, location The room we got was ridiciuosly old, we had to wait two hours for a normal room which indeed was a good surprise. Staff was not always attentive and responding in a timely manner. Generally, we were expecting more from a Fairmont hotel...
We loved it!
This historic property welcomes you in the moment you step onto the property. The immediate attendance to your every need is immediately relaxing and makes you feel wanted. The location could not be better with the entire harbor visible form the front and every floor above as you exit your elevator. The entire city downtown is vibrant and easily walkable with something for every tase and experience.t The room was a bit warm and may not have had air conditioning. We simply opened the windows and used a portable fan form the oversized closet area.
Location and views are fantastic. I love these old-style character hotels. Not up to the standards of other Fairmont Hotels we've stayed in. They messed up our meal reservations and even messed up the correction, so we never did eat there. Some staff really didn't seem to know what they were doing or could even answer or questions properly and never offered to find anything our or get back to us.
Very beautiful hotel. Room was very spacious and gorgeous, and small kitchenette was still very useful with full set of plates, glasses, and utensils. Their ocean-front mineral pools are simply great with its view. We didn't have a chance to take any massage service this time, but their Spa facility was nice and beautiful as well. We also enjoyed the food and drinks a lot at their pub. Definitely recommended for nice relaxing stays in more adult/mature atmosphere. At Mineral pools, the large pool could be warmer in winter season as it gets freezing to get out of the pool... In the meantime, hot tubs were nice and hot, but due to their small sizes, they can instantly get occupied with group of people, which makes other guests hesitant to join and stay in the less-warm pool for a long time. Also it'd be nice if how-to-order drinks at the pool was informed more clearly. When we saw other guests enjoying their drinks, we really wanted to order some for ourselves as well. But we didn't know how, so we just waited for the server to come to the pool. Finally in the morning of the last day, we found out there was a inter-phone with drink/food menu located near the gate, which was too late for us :( For the nature of the hotel's very adult/mature atmosphere, I personally felt it'd be kinda nice to actually make it Adult Only. Of course it's also nice to see cute little children enjoying their stays as well, but when I see them jumping into the pool (right in front of No Diving signs, and parents never stop them) or hear them screaming (calling mom), it's a lil turn-down for us. But it's very personal preference, so we do respect hotel's policy. Otherwise, we loved the hotel and definitely come back for next time!
The taxi service was fantastic, the room was nice and the staff friendly. I will come back!
Very nice hotel. Breakfast was good too.
Construction noise next door
Very friendly and imformative staff. Our room was large with a king bed, good bathroom and small balcony overlooking the inner harbour. The hotel has a great location with a regular water taxi service to the city centre. The Orca Sprit whale watching experience, office and boats are also based at the hotel wharf.
Great location, quiet rooms, modern style, helpful staff. Quality of equipment and bathrooms
I liked that the hotel was close to the water and Fisherman's Wharf. It was clean and the staff was friendly. It was far from the main downtown core. They do provide a free downtown shuttle on a first come basis until 2300. I believe this hotel would do much better if they had a FREE airport shuttle AND a free continental breakfast. I know I will look for both in a hotel if I return to the area.
Great location overlooking the entrance to Victoria inner harbor. Very nice and helpful staff. Nicely designed rooms. Worst: nearly all the pillows smelled of old sweat. We finally requested and received new, unused pillows. Avoiding dry cleaning pillows is not a good cost-cutting measure! Also, waited one hour for breakfast, after two complaints, received it with the explanation that here were "problems in the kitchen." To their credit, the restaurant wait staff seemed embarrassed and comped the breakfast. Another morning we decided to skip the menu and do the $17 buffet, which was MUCH worse that the free buffets you get at budget hotels.
The view parking gate unable to code out
Service, location, value, ambiance, shuttle service
Location- could easily walk to harbour or fisherman's warf lots! dirty - can't see through the windows, no balcony! no view of the harbour, restaurant is a rip off can't even fill your cup with proper coffee in the morning, not child friendly- felt that a child was disturbing .
Pretty good location - 10-15 minute walk to empress and downtown. Right next to fisherman's wharf. Good Restaurant. Nothing.
Waterfront views were wonderful. We especially enjoyed seeing the occassional harbour seal at breakfast. About a 20 minute stroll to the main harbour area. No real negatives.
The location was great as were the staff. The beds were a little too hard and the building was showing signs of wear.
Very nice, all staff was friendly and helpful.
The location. I liked everything
The french staff was really nice, the room well cleaned and since we had a discount, we were very happy of the quality.
I enjoyed being close to the inner harbour. While the room needed a few minor repairs, the staff were very accommodating and pleasant. It was great value for the price. I would definitely stay there again
Very good location, staff very nice. We found the bed hard and uncomfortable
Our room was very quiet and comfortable
Frontend staff did a great job Nothing.
the service was very good. Helpful staff at front desk.Location was a little difficult without auto. perhaps better choice of on-sight restaurant
The rooms were really nice and updated The bed wasn't very comfortable.
Handy to have restaurant downstairs for take out and room was set up with dishes and cutlery with a proper table for dining. This was great. Very convenient.
Staff tried to make things right after disasterous first night teams from a lacrosse tournament booked rooms and it was party central - very noisy on Sturday - better the next night
Close to downtown
Kind staff. Good location. Very small rooms. Cleanliness not perfect.
View of the ocean from our room, friendliness of host Breakfast was just average, bathroom fixtures were dated and worn
The owner makes a really good breakfast (farm fresh eggs!). Also nice comfy beds and a decent size living space. Definitely worth the price. We would definitely stay here again. The view is definitely amazing! The owners had birds in their living space (not the guest areas) that would make noise during the day. We usually went to town during the day so it wasn't that big of a deal. That being said, the birds made no noise at night, so no trouble sleeping.
We always enjoy the quiet relaxing rooms and the front desk staff are superb They initially couldn't find the booking but took us anyway
Our room was spacious, clean and had an excellent view of the harbor. The water taxi stand was right outside the hotel making trips around Victoria very easy and fun. A lovely walkway around the harbor was right outside the hotel as well. The WIFI in our room was unusable in spite of high signal strength. After two days of making calls to Delta's tech support with no success, we finally gave up and used the internet in the lobby. We were unimpressed with the support offered by the staff.
A very relaxed , very friendly and very accompanying resort All was great
We stayed in room 616 and the view was spectacular. We use the pool and hot tub. A real treat! The staff were all very nice and helpful. We will recommend the Delta to our friends and will definitely come back.
Great room, excellent staff, shuttle service was fantastic. We had a beautiful view. Walls were a bit thin, we could hear people in the hallway talking. They sounded like they were in our room.
Informal but very attentive staff, ease of check-in and the quick drop-box checkout. The location is great, downtown but not right in the town. The Westbay walkway along the harbour is great for a walk, jog, taking in the scenery. Our room was quiet, very clean and comfortable. The workout area is well set up, and the sauna was perfect for a mid-winter warm-up. we were surprised there was no fridge in the room, that would have been helpful.
I loved being able to walk over a bridge into downtown Victoria to shop and see the sights and I loved falling asleep to the sound of the ocean and the sight of the parliament buildings all lit up. I loved that the hotel upgraded me to a view room (for only a small cost) and didn't make me feel like a complainer because I was disappointed initially to not have a window to the ocean. The pool was wonderful and I would love to bring my daughters and their babies to enjoy the luxury and friendliness of this hotel.
The front desk staff were extremely helpful and friendly Our penthouse suite was beautiful, the view was amazing
This hotel is remarkable. I am at the Four Seasons in Vancouver right now but the Delta beats it hands-down. The contemporary look is completely attractive and I've never had a hotel room so organized with a place for everything. Great food in the restaurant. The location is perfect on the water, and just a few minutes walk into the heart of Victoria. Also they have a free shuttle that get you to places you want to go.
ease of parking, fast elevator, quiet A bit out of the way for getting to the rest of Victoria. One traveller unable to walk well.
Real friendly staff, clean rooms, breakfast menu was excellent, View from breakfast restaurnant was terrific, parking was excellent. We will go back again and again to this place! Very few carts to haul uggage to room. That being said, the front clerk called and had a cart delivered to our room very quickly.
The view! Cleanliness and location near downtown. Many rooms have no view.
Good housekeeping and front desk crew, all facilities working, excellent location, good value. I didn't care for the continental breakfast, but McDonalds istwo blocks.
The proximity to the downtown area was ideal. You could park and walk anywhere. Transit was just outside the door if needed. Very sparse for room amenities. No coffee/tea, lotion, hairdryer etc in the room. Needed to ask for them, and then they would be provided. Quite small rooms even for a deluxe queen.
There were three things that for sure will determine my next trip to Victoria: the central localization of the Hotel, the proximity to a nice pleasant bar and the quality / price very good for those who wants an Hotel to sleep and go! Hum, for more exigent clients, for sure furniture is a little bit used. And of course, minibar was missing, but for me it was ok !
convenient location, very clean and great services. little noise before mid night.
The location was excellent, and the rooms, quiet, big and confortables. Breakfast was poor.
It had a really good location and many different options for dining and nightlife. My friend and I really liked the rooftop bar/restaurant, although the weather wasn't really appropriate for the volleyball courts.
Have been staying for years. Best value in Victoria. Always stay and eat in the restaurants too - especially important now as drinking and driving is out and my husband cannot walk long distances. We tell our friends! The walls are a little thin and the conversation in the next room was like they were sitting in our room. The bed is a little hard - could be a better mattress. Not really what I would describe as a "deluxe room" and if I was a new client I might be disappointed. We know what to expect so we are satisfied. Affordable does not have to mean "cheap". The bedspreads and drapes look like they are from the 80's - do one floor at a time and spruce it up - solid colours are better than old flowers. The bathrooms are fine. We owned a small waterfront motel in Qualicum and it was "affordable" but the rooms looked attractive. Like you, we had a faithful clientele - keep us happy.
Very inexpensive! Great Continental Breakfast ! 3 bars ! ! Right downtown ! Great Staff ! ! I've stayed 3 times, this time I had a room with 1 bed and it had a very small room. Last two times I had a room with two queens, Very large renovated rooms. I'll always get the 2 queens from now on.
The location was amazing and the staff at the front desk and front door were extremely helpful and friendly. We were here for the Goodlife Fitness marathon.
Big, comfortable, well equipped room, value for money, pool hours (open late) No hot tub, bathroom a bit dated
the location is great. room are quiet for resting. I booked a ocean view room and end up a roof top view with very angle ocean view. The bell man help us get to the room, he also said it doesn't look like a ocean view room at all. Beside, the room very dated and furniture, carpet are all smell. So, I decide to upgrade to a newer building and paid extra $50 just for one night. Very disappointed the front desk lady keep emphasized that is a ocean view room!!
Clean room, not far walking distance from downtown Heater did not work all too well, room couldn't get warm enough.
The restaurant was wonderful. The food was so innovative and delicious. The staff was very friendly and offered every opportunity to help. I would definitely stay at this place the next time I'm in Victoria. I really appreciated the fact that it was actually further away from all of the other hotels because it was quiet and peaceful.
Only downside was broken curtains so hard to keep apt dark
Room overlooked inner harbor. Very clean with very helpful staff. Restaraunt menu did not have enough basic food choices, no chicken for my wife but I did enjoy my sable fish..The room was missing a selection of glassware as only had 2 glasses for all purposes, also did not have a makeup mirror which my wife prefers. All in shall s nice spit to stay . We will return.
Awesome restaurant Aura in the hotel.
Beautifully designed room, well-equipped facilities, and friendly, helpful staff. Would like towel hooks in bathroom
Reserved a room with a king bed. We were traveling from Seattle via the clipper that couldn't sail due to the marine forecast. Once we realized our trip was going to take 7 hours via buss to reach the hotel, I called to notify that we would be arriving late and was assured my room would be ready and that we would have a king bed, not 2 doubles. We arrived at the hotel and no king beds were available. But then the representative said I could upgrade for $40 more per night and beaten down by the 7 hour trip I agreed to pay the fee. Then we get the bill and it was $60 + $4.85 PST + $1.21 MRDT + $3.03 GST. I understand that the taxes are what the are but should have been quoted them and the hotel should have honored the quote made on arrival. I was offered $10 per night discount by the manager but still feel mislead. As a Marriott rewards customer for years and one who has stayed at Marriott properties all over the world, I will not be returning to this property. The maid service was also poor. The room was not vacuumed nor were the sheets ever changed on our 3 night stay. Additionally when we arrived there was left over spoiled food in the fridge. Lastly they did not replace plates and silverware in the kitchenette and when we came back to the room with takeout, we had to eat out of plastic containers. I do not recommend this property. If you are accustom to Marriott service and hospitality, you will not find it here.
Beautiful decor, excellent staff in breakfast restaurant, good parking. Our room did not get cleaned on the second day, we did get clean towels and wash clothes when we asked for them. Wish there had been a small refridgerator in room. Coffee in room was awful and powdered creamer yuck. Room service for same was pricey.
The support they gave to Marathon participants the weekend we were there. Easy access to the bus terminal an downtown restaurants etc.
We were able to leave our baggage with the front desk while we were out for the day. The workout facility was so nice to be able to use at any time during my stay.
An excellent staff -- all were exceptionally courteous, friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and pleasant.
Clean facility, close to ferry terminal and local tourist attractions, staff was super friendly and helpful, especially the doormen, there were plenty of towels and comfortable beds. Exercise room small but with enough variety of equipment. Wish the swimming pool had been larger, not quite big enough for lap swims, wish they had provided a changing room in the pool restroom. Wish they had provided a small fridge in the room.
Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was quiet, beds very comfortable with down comforters. Pool was nice break for kids.
staff was friendly and efficient, room was clean and location was good Restaurant was very slow. Parking was expensive.
Price and closeness to the start and finish of the Victoria Marathon.
Hotel was close to all Victoria attractions
Hotel was great, but at check in they had no record of me.
Room was clean and the curtains were effective. Pillows were too soft.
Location is within walking distance of everything. The pool is also nice. The internet didn't work. Furthermore, the fan was loosely attachted to the ceiling
Very friendly and helpful at reception. Centrally localtion. Easy to get to the waterfront.
Efficient checkin, good service, great location and very quiet for sleeping
Friendly, helpful staff. No air conditioning so had to sleep with window open & it was very noisy outside - sirens & such.
The rooms were very nice-- clean! Wonderful staff!
Location, room quality, video selections, wireless internet, room lighting
The room was very attractively furnished and the crown molding was a nice touch. plenty of space to open and set luggage. There was some confusion with our reseervation, but fortunately rooms were available.
Location was great and the staff was friendly Stained linens
The pool was refreshing in the summer heat. The air conditioning was over taxed that week with the extreme hot weather, they'll need to upgrade in future. As a result, we moved to new hotel for remainder of week with better air cond, king size beds and larger kitchen facilities. (Traveller's Inn - Queens Ave) City Center's pool access was still available to us. The staff was very helpful to find us this new location.
